wonderful youth–focused organizations that our new chapter could partner with, including the
YMCA, the Boys & Girls Club, the Clarksville

Achievement and Perseverance) Organization. In addition to volunteering and fundraising, there are

One very interesting man–eating cryptid is the Kappa. This creature can be found in bodies of water
all around Japan (mysteriousuniverse.org). Considered a water imp by folklore, the Kappa is around
the same size as a small child and also has a shell on its back. They also have a beak of some sorts
and webbed feet and hands. The identifying feature of a Kappa however is the indentation in the top
of its head. Considered a bowl in lore, it contains the liquid that gives the Kappa its strength.
However harmless the Kappa may sound, it is actually quite dangerous. This creature is known to
kill humans as well as molest women. The way that a Kappa kills someone is by pulling them deep
into the water and then sucking all of the blood out of them. Another way that they kill their victims
is by sucking out the victim's innards through the anus. In general, Kappas are very dangerous to be
around and find humans to be a tasty snack. Many believe that Kappas do exist and that they are out

The Five Imponents Of Alpha Kappa Alpha
In the 1900s, segregation and male dominance were a big part of American Society. African
American women were often underestimated as well as neglected of their respect and authority.
Ethel Hedgeman, who was a student at Howard University, believed that it was essential to create an
organization for a group of women who were willing to use their talents and strengths for the benefit
of others, but at the same time learn to value and respect themselves. She envisioned that this group
would focus on interaction, encouragement, and ethical growth between the members, and that is
exactly what Alpha Kappa Alpha has done ever since she created it. In 1908, AKA also known as the
sorority Alpha Kappa Alpha, the first African American sorority was created. Members of Alpha
Kappa Alpha communicate and express their common ideas and goals in their own unique ways.
Alpha Kappa Alphas represent service and culture more than anything. Ever since AKA was
founded in 1908, their motto has been "By Culture and By Merit", and the mission of the sorority

Additional Ideas The senior recognition event can be held during a chapter meeting or as a separate
event. All members of the chapter should be included. Additional weekly, monthly or quarterly
senior member recognition is encouraged (e.g., senior spotlight). When planning the senior
recognition event, focus on the positive contributions seniors have made to the chapter. It is
important to keep the following in mind. The event should not encourage excessive drinking or be
focused on alcohol. Ensure events are in line with Kappa's Risk Management Procedures.
Remember that senior bar crawls are not Kappa–sanctioned events and should not be allowed. It
then follows that this type of event should not have Kappa–related T–shirts. Be mindful of the theme

Adviser: Your adviser is a great resource and an important person to keep in the loop. She should be
attending all meetings – either virtually or in person – when you meet with members.
Standards Specialist: Your Standards Specialist is a critical resource. She receives copies of the
minutes from your weekly meetings and is your go–to person for all things standards (e.g.,
resignations, probation questions, urgent issues, etc.). When in doubt, contact your Standards

With this research I plan to go back to the roots of why sororities use Greek language in their
discourse community and how it helps them form a sisterhood that is shared only amongst the
community. Sororities and fraternities are becoming more prevalent in universities all across the
nation. Today, there are over 9 million members of the Greek communities and the number is
continuously growing each year ("Greek Life Statistics"). "The terms 'fraternity' and 'sorority'
describe groups of men and women who join together to offer fellowship, academic support,
