1. EVALUATION 6: WHAT HAVE YOU
LEARNT ABOUT TECHNOLOGIES
FROM THE PROCESS OF
CONSTRUCTING THIS PRODUCT?
2. Camera
• To take my photos I used a Fujifilm digital camera. I learned about
zooming in and out, focusing onto the person I wanted to take a photo
of just by using different buttons on the camera. I also learned how to
control the lightening of a photo because I could decide whether to
turn the flash on or off on the camera. Using this camera improved the
quality of my photos immensely compared to using a phone camera.
This camera also let me easily put the photos onto the computer by
just putting the memory card from the camera into the computer and
then transferring them.
3. Computer
• I used a computer for many things. I used a computer
every lesson to edit my photos, update my blog and to
create my magazine as all the software programs were on
here. I stored everything on the computer so it was easy
to access everything. Using a computer also enabled me
to use the internet for research towards my task.
4. Microsoft publisher
• I used Microsoft publisher when creating my preliminary
magazine. From this program I learned a few techniques
like inserting text and pictures, this software was very
basic and so was easy to use; however this meant my
magazine standard wasn’t that great because of the limit
of tools there were.
5. Quark
• I used the program Quark to create my music magazine. This
program is much more advanced than Microsoft publisher, and so I
was able to learn lots from using this software.
• I learned how to edit my text; using the tool bar below I was able to
change the size, font, colour, rotation and position. I could even add a
background behind the text as well.
• I learned how to insert images, shapes, border and texts using this
toolbar below.
• I found that using Quark
made my magazine look
more professional compared
to Microsoft publisher.
6. Photoshop
• I used Photoshop to edit the pictures I took. This software enabled me
to improve the quality of my images in many ways. This toolbar below
let me do multiple things to my images such as cropping, rotating,
erasing and even changing the colour of then images.
• Select
• Crop
• Paint
• Erase
• Insert text
• Blur
• Zoom
• Change colour
7. • I also learned how to improve the brightness, saturation, hue and
contrast. I did this by having the option whether to decrease or
increase the amount using a scale. This is shown in the screen shots
below.
• I also learned how to cut out the background of my photos by
cropping around the part of the photo I wanted to keep.
• Photoshop really helped me improve my images as when my images
were first taken they were not that good quality, Photoshop allowed
me to make my images look more professional because of all the
tools that were available for me.
8. PowerPoint and slide share
• I used PowerPoint to display my information and notes in more of a visual way. From
PowerPoint I learned how use different tools that let me edit text and images. I then
uploaded the PowerPoint onto Slide Share. From Slide Share I learned how to put my
PowerPoint onto my blog by using the embed code Slide Share produced. Using these
technologies made my blog more exciting and less boring as it is a more visual way to
see my posts.
• I used Prezi for the same reason as PowerPoint; Prezi enabled me to learn how to
display my information in a different way which made my blog more exciting. There
were lots of different templates to choose from on Prezi and lots of them displayed my
information in chronological order, this made my Prezi feel like it was a journey which
is what the whole coursework is about, a journey on how you’ve created your
magazine and what you’ve learnt on the way.
• Using scribd enabled me to learn how to upload word documents onto my blog, this
allowed my blog to become more exciting and unique because of the different
technology I was using.
