product and ancillary texts?

2. • Our main product is a music video
produced by Kitsuné for Two Door
Cinema Club, a french electronic
recording label. The main challenge in
the production of the three products (the
ancillary texts were a Digipak and an
album poster) was making sure the three
texts linked with each other to show that
it was obvious they were all featuring the
same artist.

the poster and the
Digipak are the
same, this links the
two ancillary texts
together by
showing they’re
promoting the
same album.
7. • We also applied the same design to the discs of our DigiPak, to
further link the texts together. This in particular is very effective as
the triangular design is the part in which the audience’s eyes are
drawn to, which makes it stick in the audience’s mind so they
recognise it when seeing other advertisements.
8. The actual triangular symbol
is widely featured on an even
wider range of texts
nowadays, for example across
social media websites such as
“Tumblr” & “Twitter”. It
carries and promotes a
“hipster”/indie image, thus
creating this symbol on the
ancillary texts, specifically the
DigiPak, makes the audience
associate this “hipster” image
with the band.
9. We chose to have similar styles of location for our DigiPak and
our music video. In the above DigiPak pictures, we show quite an
urban image to show the band as “grungy” and alternative.
The locations we chose for “Two Door Cinema
Club” in the music video have the same
“grungy” and alternative setting, set in side-
streets and music shops, places where the
band would usually hang around. This is to
make the amateur footage of the music video
again more realistic and relatable.
10. We decided to feature the band in the music
video to suit the conventions of most “indie
rock” music videos, however this also worked in
our favour when linking the music video to the
DigiPak because we used pictures of the band
on the inside sleeves.
I believe my group and myself have linked the three
texts together incredibly well, and it is clear that the
three texts are of the same artist, and are all by the
Kitsuné record label. I believe we have shown this in
the artwork we have produced for the texts.
