2. Who is Luana Perdita?
Luana Perdita is the main character in my short
film revolving around social media obsession. As
an 18 year old teenager she still attends college
and is the pinnacle of popularity within her
school. She is intelligent, funny and charming all
of which combined to her having a large internet
following across a variety of social media sites
(including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram).
From these she receives constant likes, shares,
re-tweets and comments on her posts with
people saying how they love her, want to be her
and are so jealous of her life. However, this all
changes when she becomes obsessed with her
social media sites.

7. Origin of the name
It should be noted that the name Luana and the
name Perdita both have different meanings
behind them. The first name Luana comes from
Hawaiian culture meaning to be happy and
content. I felt that this would suit the film as she
is content with her life, even if it is crumbling
around her. Her surname (Perdita) is the name of
one of William Shakespeare’s characters from
his play The Winters Tale and translates from
Latin to mean lost which I felt was fitting as
Luana becomes lost in her own phone.
