1. I wouldlike tocreate a newmusicmagazine, the genre of whichwouldbe alternativeandindie
together.These 2genresare ofteninterlinked,andbyputtingthemtogetheritwouldincrease the
size of the target audience. The name of mymagazine wouldbe Riot– ithas linkstovintage
alternative music, andmore recentsongs/albums.Iwill alsochoose thisbasedonthe resultsfrom
my focusgroup. My unique sellingpointwouldbe thatthismagazine isall aboutfemaleartists,as
alternative musicisoften dominatedbymen.Thiswouldprovideinspirationtoreaders,andgive
spotlighttofemale artists.
My targetaudience wouldbe awhite female,aged18,whohas a strong interestinalternative and
indie music. She wishestoforayintomusicas eitheracareer or a side project, andenjoyslearning
instruments,listeningtorecordsand discoversnew andolderartists.She wouldgotogigs,especially
local onesbecause theyare cheapand boastnew, raw talent. She presentsherself insucha waythat
it’sclearto otherswhat hermusictaste is,by meansof eitherwearingbands’products,or
stereotypical modernindie outfitssuchasdungarees,stripytops,chunkyDocMartensand long
messydyedhair.
My frontpage wouldbe fairlytypical, acentral star usingdirectaddresstoengage withthe
audience.Mycoverstar wouldalwaysbe a woman,as it’snotcommonfor a womanto be the face
of a musicmagazine.Mymastheadwouldcrossthe top of the magazine cover, andthe fontisbold
and bright. Coverlineswill be all one fontandone colour, exceptforthe maincoverlinewhichwould
provide some differentfocus. The barcode wouldbe inthe lowerrighthandcorner, outof view
almost.The dateline wouldbe beneaththe title.
