3. LOEWE began as a cooperative of skilled leather
makers/crafters in the center of Madrid in 1846.
It is named after the German entrepreneur Enrique
Loewe Roessberg who basically brought together the
first workshop under his name in 1872, creating one
of the world’s original luxury houses.

• famous Amazona bag in 1945 and the house’s
first women’s ready-to-wear line in the 1970s.
Since then, everyone from Karl Lagerfeld to
Giorgio Armani has designed pieces for the
brand, and Narciso Rodriguez was installed as
designer of womenswear in 1996, remaining
in that position until 2001.
8. • Katie Hillier x Loewe
• One of Britains most celebrated accessories designers collaborated
with creative director Stuart Vevers in 2011. The pair have reworked
three of Loewe's most popular bags, replacing the signature Loewe
padlock with hardware based on Hillier's animal designs. Colours
come in navy, red and pink.

• Hillier has designed for a host of high-profile fashion names in the
past, including Victoria Beckham, Marc by Marc Jacobs and Stella
McCartney.
9. • Junya Watanabe x Loewe 2013
• Junya Watanabe is a Japanese fashion designer, originally
the protégé of Comme des Garçons designer Rei Kawakubo
• The Spanish brand and the Tokyo-based label are joined
forces to create capsule collections of clothing and
accessories for both men and women.
• The Japanese and Spanish governments, declared 2013-14
the Year of Spain in Japan and the Year of Japan in Spain -
in an attempt to strengthen and promote cultural,
economic and social relations between the two countries.
The program also coincides with Loewe's 40th anniversary
in Japan.
