1. Designing a logo creates brand recognition for the artist which consequently creates a sense of
familiarity and recognition for the audience. Using a logo is quite popular in the HipHop and R&B
genre and artists such as Drake, Kendrick Lamar and Rihanna are well known for their emblems and
tend to use their brand recognition when involved in the retail industry. Drake’s OVO Owl is also
used as the logo for his record label and often displays his logo in album covers, music videos and
adverts wearing it on a chain as well as inputting the image on digipack disks. Rihanna began her
own fashion line at River Island using her logo to represent her line, increasing her target audience
but also brand recognition.

3. My Logo
These are the designs I found using Google Images. I
decided to choose a design that represented my artist
well for example a silhouette of herself or of a black
woman, embracing my artist’s heritage as artists such
as Beyonce have done in her latest song ‘Formation’. I
also chose designs that represented ambition, for
example a logo of a girl ‘reaching for the stars’. My
designs resemble Kendrick Lamar’s logo, representing
a young girl growing into a successful artist. My logo
will also be consistently visible in the digipack and
advert for this brand recognition.
