1. Final Poster – Designing
Information
Assignment 9.4
Aurae Beidler
2. Poster Design
• Goal: To motivate students to sign up for the
program – Touch the Future Aloha – in order
to learn more about their healthcare career
options and the value of completing collete.
• Audience: Intermediate and high school
students in Hawaii.
• Message: There are many future career
options in the health professions available by
completing college.
3. I started with the idea of stairs, as
the visual for students taking the
next step, either to learn more
about college or the healthcare
careers available.
I had a lot of text.
4. This design came during the week
on alignment and proximity. This
is similar to the first design but I
moved the action statement to
the bottom. I think this also works
for Proximity because the two
phrases – Take the next step and
Sign up for TTFA today are close
and imply they are grouped
together.
5. This design came during our week
on Contrast. I thought the visual of
college graduates would tie in the
text on completing college. The
font on the top looks like writing
on a chalkboard which ties to the
photos of the graduates. I like how
the white on black contrasts with
the rest of the text. I used 3
different fonts here – very
different fonts. I also used the
white lines to separate the
sections. I think there’s flow in
this layout as the reader moves
down the page.

7. Notes
• This my Style design that became my final design Motivate – the word I’m thinking of is Motivation or
Move. When students read this poster, I want them to
be motivated to sign up for more information. I think
the photo of the runner helps get the word “move” or
“Take the next step” across. These are Hawaiian kids so
they know what it’s like to enjoy the outdoors. I tried
to find text that looked impactful without being Impact
or Stencil. I’m not sure if the white text pops out
enough. When it was black, it didn’t show up as much.
I used hues of green for the text. The text boxes are
both hues of brown.

9. Final design
• I created my final design. I played around with
the weight of the text, especially with the Take
the next step. I wanted it to have an
impact, like the runner just landed on that
phrase. I think it helps add the impact to the
action statement.
