look like they are being said by the
student.


Barcode: The barcode used on “allure” is
basic it suggests the magazine has a price
is small so it doesn’t take much space but
big enough to be noticed. I have
challenged this convention of a
“barcode” by making the barcode
transparent into the image, I have done
this so the barcode blends in with the
colour theme effectively.


Rule of Thirds: This has been used to
equally split the cover In 9 sections so the
cover lines and images are aligned.
“Allure” has used rule of thirds as this
suggests a sense of balance similarly I
have balanced the conventions used on
my cover. Also because it is a college
magazine it suggests it has been
organized.
Masthead: it has been placed on both covers
effectively. The Masthead “ drummer” is there to
appeal to people who are interested in the drum
and to also promote the magazine name. I have
placed the masthead on my contents page to
promote my magazine name and to remind
people it is a college magazine for Solihull sixth
form as well as the fact it goes with the colour
theme.


Variety of Shot types: The Contents page for
drummer has a variety of shot types to relate to
the pages of the magazine. Similarly I have
used a variety of shot types ( medium
shot, medium close up and long shot) to
indicate what is on the special pages of the
magazine.

Page Numbers/titles: The contents page for
“drummer” has effectively used big numbers than
the text for the page numbers and a little
information about the pages so people are aware
where to read. I have done this same however I
have challenged this to make it look creative by
using to colours to relate to the colour theme of my
magazine.


Editors note: I have used an editors note I have
challenged this convention as I have made it look like it
has been written on a notepad to relate to the notepads
used in college.
