2. Structure
Topic: Student Employment
Type/Mode: Mixed
Style: Mix of both informal and
informative
Channelling/Scheduling: BBC 1 at 7/8pm
Target Audience: 15-22, students and
additionally employers
3. Primary Target Audience
Our primary target audience is students aged 15-22.
They can be of either gender because both will be
students who are looking for/have jobs. They will be
of any ethnic background because again, any
ethnicity student will be looking for a job. They will
be of working class because majority of working
students do not earn enough to be classed as middle
class, and working class 15-22 years are made to get
jobs by parents. Their lifestyle will centre around
college and work so they might only have a small
amount of time for personal lives.
4. Secondary Target Audience
Our secondary target audience is students aged 35+.
They can be of either gender because both genders
will be hiring people/students at their place of work.
They will be of any ethnic background because again,
any ethnicity employer will be looking for an
employee. They will be of middle class because it is
more likely that managers will be of middle class.
Their lifestyle will centre around family life because
most of them will have families to look after so they
will have to work around that with their job.
5. Narrative Structure
We will have a CLOSED NARRATIVE because we
will come to a conclusion by the end of the
documentary and have no unanswered questions. It
will be LINEAR NARRATIVE because we will have
an order that everything is shown so that the
documentary flows well. It will be SINGLE STRAND
because ur documentary will only follow one
narrative course. We have also decided that we will
have a CIRCULAR NARRATIVE documentary
because we will start back where we started by
answering any initial questions.
6. Resources Required
Some of our resources will be the equipment which
includes:Video Camera
Tripod
Microphone
Clip Microphone
Clapper board
Headphones
We will then take out some props like, folders, books
and other equipment college students carry around
with them so that we can get accurate
mise-en-scene.
7. Outline of Content
We will start our documentary with a brief overview
of student employment and explain what we will go
on to discuss. We will show clips of vox pops during
this too but with a voiceover instead of the clips. We
will then have a clip of the presenter followed by our
vox pops and expert interviews so we can get
different peoples opinions. In-between these
clips/interviews we will show onscreen statistics and
other information related to our topic and to support
the interviewee's views. We will then end by
answering the questions posed at the beginning of
the documentary.
