Health Protection And Health Promotion
When focusing on health protection and health promotion, it is important that people involved have
an idea on what the specific aims are. The first aim of health protection and health promotion, is to
considerably improve the health of the entire UK, this means that the factors which are leading to
health deterioration need to be recognised and people need to be educated to be aware of this.
Another aim of health protection and health promotion is to reduce the health inequalities within the
population. Health inequalities include things such as the reducing the amount of people smoking,
this will then leads to other diseases such as coronary heart disease and cancer becoming less
common. Other health inequalities include improving the quality of support for children, improving
nutrition, improving housing quality and preventing teenage pregnancies by educating teenagers and
offering them contraception. The majority of these issues are trying to be sorted out but it is very
challenging due to the huge numbers of people who still live like this.
Health Promotion
Health promotion promotes the right behaviours which should be carried out by people to ensure
that they are leading themselves into good health. It encourages people to change the way which
they behave, to give up any habits which are affecting their health, it makes them look at it from a
different perspective. This negative and undesirable behaviour is changed to new behaviours which
result in the person having a

Home Health Aide: Oral Health
The Home Health Aide: Oral Health
For many seniors, the days of George Washington and wooden teeth did not seem like such a far–
fetched concept. In fact, dentures and old age were virtually synonymous. Over the last few decades,
the number of seniors who do not need to go down the path of tooth loss, dentures, and oral health
misery has increased.
While one of the most important steps in excellent oral health is regular dental check–ups,
cleanings, and treatments, there are a number of things that can be done at home as well. Let's take a
look at how a home health aide can help your senior loved one maximize their oral health.
One of the most common oral health ailments in seniors is dry mouth. The problem is so widespread
that many seniors ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Keeping the body hydrated is not just good for the body, but it keeps the mouth lubricated and
washes the food and bacteria off of the teeth and gums.
The American Cancer Society notes that the average age of people suffering from oral cancers is
over 62 years of age. The vast majority of these cancers do not cause pain or discomfort in their
early stages so detection is done through regular dental care. When problems are not detected early,
the gums receded from the teeth and form pockets that collect bacteria. The gums eventually
become sensitive, bleed, impact the underlying bone causing tooth loss, and end up causing disease.
Many seniors are not able to properly care for their teeth and gums due to physical or mental
limitations. A home health aide can ensure they are reminded to brush and floss daily. They are also
able to schedule regular dental visits and even provide transportation to these appointments. When
seniors are not able to care for their oral health at all, home health aides can provide this care for

Health: Health And Wellness
INTRODUCTION
Health and wellness are increasingly being used. Health actually is more to a medical and describes
the mental and physical state of a person. It will reflect a lack of disease of a person. In the contrary,
wellness is defined as the overall process of maintaining a state of good health of a person. Wellness
involves conscious decisions on the part of the individual, while health simply describes a person's
condition of the body. However, the combined phrase health and wellness showed the meaning of
the state of complete physical, mental, emotional health and social wellbeing, and it is when a
person is absence of disease.
In contrary, health and wellness tourism is now had been immerging to the world wide and it is an
international trend set by the health travellers who seeking to enhance their well being through their
travel experiences. Health tourism refers to an activity by health facilities that used the natural
resources, such as mineral water or climate in order to give the health services. Health tourism also
is defined by Goodrich and Goodrich (1987) as an attempt on the tourist facility to attract tourists by
promoting and providing its health–care services and facilities. Besides, wellness travellers are a
person who seeks a wellness travel experience, which is generally healthy to ... Show more content

Pizza and Health

Pizza and Health The aroma of pepperoni and melting cheese overwhelm my senses like a high tide
wave as I enter the Round Table. Suddenly, memories of my tenth birthday party rush to the
forefront of my mind; I still remember the savory pepperoni mingling with the sweet tomato sauce
tantalizing my palate. Pizza isn't just a delicious treat; it's a reason to eat together. It creates and
enhances memories, what late night cramming session would be complete without a piping hot pizza

This allows for the other flavors of the pizza to become enhanced. The study concluded that pizza
with the thin crust and 75% cheese content was the most favored. This modification will allow for
college campuses to substitute the greasy salty pizzas with the lighter more flavorful low sodium
pizzas. According to an article from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, "the
substitution of nutrients provided at levels in a pizza product meeting the HUSSC for usual pizza
significantly improved dietary quality of children and adolescents eating pizza for school lunch."
The aim of this study was to compare the daily intake of nutrients of children and adolescents
between a pizza product meeting the US Department of Agriculture's Criteria for Health and a usual
pizza product. In this double blind study, they used 337 children from ages 5 to 18. The results
indicated that this was a positive way to improve the nutritious value of school lunches.ii In a
consumer news article titled a Heap on Health, Denny Sharton discusses pizza and the various ways
it can be a healthy choice. "It can contribute a reasonable portion of the recommended amounts from
four of the five food groups in the U.S. Department of Agriculture 's Food Guide Pyramid, says
Mavia Fletcher, one of USDA 's regional nutritionists. If you 're a pineapple fan, you can make that

Health Plan Recap My health plan was constructed while keeping my own specific health profile in
mind. As a mother of six, and one who developed on autoimmune disease, Dermatomyositis, seven
years ago, I confront problems which others developing their own plans may not. The disease,
which was successfully treated, nonetheless left a residue of chronic pain and fatigue, as well as
depression, symptoms which were partnered with Primary Biliary Cholangitis, another autoimmune
disease I was diagnosed with in 2015. This disease has resulted in additional pain. During the last
few years of struggling with these illnesses, I have added some extra weight. Despite the above
difficulties, I plan to exercise, eat better and reduce both my weight and my Body Mass Index. Not
taking action is not an option, as a Life Check Assessment test I took scored me at just 5.7 out of 10,
and described my health as one that was as at risk for diabetes and other problems. All research
indicates that a clean, healthy, low–sodium diet, and regular exercise, would be a major boost to my
health, and might even help in the battle against the autoimmune issues I am currently engaged with.

Health Education : The Importance Of Health And Health
From the time I started middle school, I have had a health and wellness education class each year
throughout school. My first health class started in seventh grade and that is around the time I started
to learn about the importance of health and wellness. As a kid, my diet was not what I would
consider healthy. There were few fruits and vegetables outside of school lunches. I played three
sports all of my life so I was an active person getting the important benefits of exercise. However,
fast food was often a quick solution to eating after sport practice. Once I started to learn about
healthy options in health class I was able to make conscious decisions on eating healthy. Health and
physical education classes in high school started to explain why nutrition and exercise were
important. Furthermore, I attended a private school that offered religion classes and I attended
church weekly. Both of these influenced my spiritual wellness positively. After high school, I
decided I wanted to study kinesiology and health promotion in college to learn more.
After several years of learning about health and wellness in different aspects, I have come to believe
that health and wellness can identify who a person is and what they value in their lives. For
example, I exercise daily because it is one of the few beneficial practices that can improve nearly all
aspects of health without requiring additional costs. This led me toward a career path that will
incorporate one of my beloved values,

Health And Social Determinants Of Health
One of the most influential determinants of health, is early childhood development due to it's deep
roots in childhood experience that shapes the physical and mental health of the individual as an
adult. A child that starts off their lives on the right path with parent(s) that have adequate and well
paying jobs who will provide the basic needs essential for development will inevitably will do well
and a have greater chance of being healthy. Versus a child who is born in poverty and must live in
such rough environments resulting from their parent's inability and lack of opportunity for
employment, thus causing stress for day–to–day survival. Everyday living factors have
consequences on children, which can have a direct and indirect effect to their health through their
parent(s). In other words, the social determinants od health experienced by the patients have a huge
influence on the health on their child's childhood experience. Although, there are many factors that

Health Determinants On Health
Health determinants are the factors that can have a positive or negative impact on a person's health.
Many things can affect how healthy we are, from a complex interplay between macro to molecular
influence to influences from society (for example, the prevalence of drug and alcohol use), to
individual factors such as genetic make–up. Education, employment, income, lifestyle, psychosocial
and physiological factors can also influence a person's health and wellbeing. Health can also be
significantly affected, and modified to some extent, by the quality and timeliness of the health care
services we receive, including preventative health care such as education, screening and
immunization.
This multidimensional model (Figure 1, below) explains how a person's health and wellbeing result
from a complex interplay between the influences listed above and other health determinants.

These cooking demonstrations will guide the students to the path of better spinal health and

Health Promotion
Levels of Health Promotion
Health promotion is essential in keeping society and individuals healthy. Health promotion
empowers communities and individuals for healthy living through education. The primary goal of
health promotion is prevention. Nurses are key in health promotion and will be seen in diverse
settings as health promotion evolves the nursing profession. There are three levels to health
promotion that are utilized to optimize health.
Definition of Health Promotion
The World Organization (WHO) defines health promotion as "the process of enabling people to
increase control over the health and its detriments, and thereby improve their health". Health
promotion is an efficient way to preserve health and wellness. Health ... Show more content on

The focus of the primary level is to have the client avoid or reduce high risk behaviors. The article
by Prokhorov et al. (2010) demonstrates primary promotion. The team utilized an interactive
computer program to reach high school students for smoking prevention. Cigarette smoking is the
foremost avert reason for morbidity, mortality as well as decrease in life expectancy.
Secondary Prevention
Secondary promotion relates to early diagnosis. The client is partaking in risky behavior and the
goal is to have early screening to reduce or halt the progression of the disease. Chou, Cottrell,
Wasson, Raham, Guise, (2013) demonstrate secondary promotion as they reviewed the screening
process for hepatitis C virus. Early identification could lead to improved clinical outcomes and
reduce the possibility of transmission.
Tertiary Promotion
Tertiary promotion focuses on helping the client manage the disease, avoid further physical
deterioration and to have the best quality of life possible. Lo Re, Teal, Localio, Amorosa, Kaplan,
Gross, (2011) examine adherence to treatment for hepatitis C virus and virolgic outcomes. When
clients adhere to the treatment for hepatitis the clients have a better chance of stopping the
progression of disease. Treatment for hepatitis C virus can be complex and suboptimal adherence
can reduce the response of the treatment.
Health promotion is key to prevention and progression of diseases and

The Health Of Health Care
Health care expenditures have risen drastically in the United States during the past 30 years. Much
of the growth in health care spending can be linked to modifiable population risk factors such as
obesity, which in turn gives rise to diseases. Rising disease prevalence and new medical treatments
account for nearly two–thirds of the rise in spending. (see Per capita spending exhibit 2) It is for this
reason that I feel healthcare reforms should focus on health promotion, cost–effective use of medical
care, and public health interventions. An ideal society of healthy people regularly exercise, do not
overconsume food, eat healthy, use seatbelts, avoid tobacco use, do not drink alcohol in excess, and
avoid stress. But if there were no ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, for people who smoke, the lifetime costs, despite their shorter lives, are higher than
those for nonsmokers by approximately one third. (cdc.gov) Poor health habits are highly associated
with greater burdens of illness and a higher magnitude of mortality. If we can provide our society
with information and guidelines about self–management and modest interventions, maybe we could
lower rates of use of services. These interventions would offer objective guidelines to help a person
decide whether medical assistance is required for a particular problem and give the information
about home treatment, if appropriate for that instance. This in turn would give them increased
confidence that many illnesses can be self–limited. Education given to consumers can increase their
confidence about health decisions which in turn could reduce the costs of long–term health care,
even in people with chronic disease. Innovations and advancements in medical treatment have also
assumed a key role in the growth of treated disease prevalence. Most of the rise in spending per
treated case can be linked to innovations in pharmacologic treatment. (cdc.gov) Many
pharmacologic treatment advancements have given physicians new approaches for treating patients
conditions, such as depression, hypertension, and hyperlipidemia. For depression along, the share of
patients prescribed a psychotropic medication increased from 45 percent in 1997 to nearly 80
percent a decade later.

qualification, compared to 20% of non–indigenous population, 26% had post–school qualification,

Health And Public Health
Public health may mean different things if you ask different people. However, the main definition is,
"the health status of a defined group of people, or community, and the actions and conditions that
protect and improve the health of the community (2002)." Public health can also be referred to as
community health and truly involves the whole community and the issues that surrounds it. There
are different health issues depending on the community meaning different assessments and
implementations.
Personal health is the health of an individual rather a group. It involves the diet, exercise, and
lifestyle of an individual which creates a healthy wellbeing. According to Edberg (2015), there is a
behavioral side to personal health including a person's attitude, and their own perception of the
norms associated to that behavior. It depends on who you are around and what you believe in as
being important in your life. Some people are very active and choose to prepare their meals and
others eat fast food and are more movie watchers. There is nothing wrong with either side but
moderation is key to everything so education on health lifestyles is important.
Public health includes health assessments which are important to determine where the community
stands and what needs improvement. It can include things such as, statistics on domestic violence,
legalization of marijuana, effects of child abuse, smoking concerns, and health education. Benefits
of health assessments are being able to

Personal Health Of Public Health
Health is the most precious asset in the possession of human beings. From my classroom experience
and through interaction with literature texts, I have come to the conclusion that people can be
responsible for their health. As a student of public health, it is important to maintain good personal
health in order to address the public health problems in the future. To be responsible for my personal
health, I have taken the initiative to implement a personal health behavior changing plan to test
whether a positive reinforcement of rewarding myself to watch one episode of my favorite TV show
each night is an effective method to change my eating habit in a short period of time.
According to my health report generated by Blue Zones, I have a very unhealthy eating habit. I do
not consume enough fruits and vegetables. One of the suggestions they give to me is to enjoy some
fruit and vegetables every day, by which I could add 377 days to my life expectancy. As a result, I
set my short term goal to be meeting the recommendation of daily fruit and vegetable intake (2.5
cups of fruits and 3.5 cups of vegetables) made by Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and
Prevention base on my age (22), sex (male) and level of physical activity (30 – 60 minutes per day).
In the long run, I hope to maintain a healthy eating habit without any intervention. According to

One could agree that health plays a huge role in society. The definition for health can be broad and
covers not only the biology part many refer to. Health covers the physiology and sociology factors
as well. There are two different types of health that can be seen interchangeably because they both
focus on improving ones health. Public health and Global health are both equally important in
society. Public health focuses on a specific population or communities where as global health focus
on health across national borders. The definition of poverty is being extremely poor, not having the

If the poverty would not be a factor these individuals would be able to get the proper care needed
and prevent the spread of malaria. The living conditions and unsanitary conditions all take part in
the way global health affects poverty. While living in poverty most individuals do not have the
adequate shelter or water. There are nearly 640 million people that do not have a safe place to live.
There is 270 million that do not have the access to any health services. There are many people that
live in poverty that cannot even afford to have adequate food to feed themselves or children. When
an individual is not sure where the next meal will come from then; one can assure they will not be
able to afford the access to healthcare. Typically in a country where poverty is extremely high,
finding access to a safe water supply and nutritional food in order to survive would be more
important than access to healthcare. Poverty can definitely have an impact on a person's educational
level. In "2005 there were nearly 72 million children of school age that were not in school in
developing countries" (UNICEF). If an individual does not know where they will sleep at night or if
there will be food on the table to survive, then learning is not an important aspect in their life.

This learning log will firstly describe what is meant by health and what determinants are thought to
affect health. An individual's health is influenced by a range of determinants. Health promotion
plays a big part in an individual's health and wellbeing, one type of health promotion can be the way
in which education can influence an individual. This learning log seeks to address the role that
health education and promotion can help patients to take more responsibility for their own health.
Aside from health promotion, nurses and others in the care industry have to understand and adopt
certain care approaches that take into consideration the individual needs of people and their families.
Health is very difficult to define as it is multidimensional and made up of different but linked
elements. There is no universal definition of health as everyone has their own idea of what it means.
However there has been a more rounded, summarised statement by the World health Organisation,
Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well–being and not merely the absence of
disease or infirmity (WHO 1984). This statement suggests that health is a primary holistic concept.
Nurses must have an open minded outlook onto the health of others. A nurse must see the patient as
a whole and assess all aspects of health before being able to assist them in making decisions on how
to make their life healthier. Health promotion allows people the ability and resources to improve and

Health Of Health And Wellbeing
Health, as defined by the World Health Organisation (WHO) (1946), is the "state of complete
physical, mental and social well–being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity".
Alternate definitions include "a dynamic state of well–being characterised by a physical and mental
potential, which satisfies the demands of life commensurate with age, culture, and personal
responsibility" (Birscher, 2005). Health and wellbeing statistics are vital information as an indicator
of the health of the nation. The statistics produced are observed to vary between countries as
different methods and standards of measures are applied. The extent of measurement also depends
on the social awareness of the implications of health and wellbeing.
One measure of health and wellbeing looks at the average life expectancy and mortality rates of the
population. Most countries use this measure as it is easily accessible through hospital records and
self–reporting health (SRH) surveys. One of the most frequently used health status indicators, life
expectancy at birth is defined by the estimated life span of a newborn, on average, if current
mortality rates are unchanged. However, the actual age–specific mortality rate of any particular birth
cohort cannot be known in advance. If rates are falling, actual life spans will be higher than life
expectancy calculated using current mortality rates. Improvements in life expectancy at birth can be
attributed to a number of factors – rising living

Health is directly related to the activities in which we participate in, the food we eat, and the
substances to which we are exposed to daily. Where we live and work, our gender, age, and genetic
makeup also impact our health. (Nies, 2011)
Assessments of family's health are to help focus on the control and prevention of diseases. Health
assessment assist in determining an individual's perception of their quality of life along with the
family's perception as a whole. This also helps to define a person's level of fulfillment when looking
at his or her health status. One way that we as nurses can gather information on family and their
health is by using Friedman's family assessment model. This model includes patterns such as values,
perception of health, nutrition, sleep/rest, elimination, activity/exercise, cognitive and sensory
perception, self–perception, role relationship, sexuality, and coping abilities. This tool helps the
nurse outline, in an organized manner, of information gathered on a family's health.
Values and perception of health refer to an individual's view of health as well as the beliefs and
opinions they hold when dealing with health promotion and their well–being. The family that was
interview has a suitable pattern of health perception and management. The Martin's are a family that
try their best to incorporate good health patterns in their everyday lives. The Martin's believe that
"with good health they can live longer lives". When asked what their

The Health Of The Population Health
The population health factors is a subject of extensive discussion within American health care
system, nonetheless, few comprehend the bearing to modern health care environment.
An array of factors like personal, social, economic, and environment issues influence and
determines the health of individual and population, acting in various combination (Knickman &
Kovner, 2015). These determinants of health, known as population health determinants generally
include genetics, access to health care, individual behavior, social determinant, physical
environment (Knickman & Kovner, 2015).
Determinant factors are fundamental to the prevention of disease, illness, and injury because it
illustrates health dispositions on why some individual or population are in better health than another
counterpart. HIV/AID is the population health issue I selected. About 1.2 million of people in the
United States are living with HIV infection, and approximately 1 in 8 (12.8%) are unaware of their
infection. HIV/AIDS disproportionately affects racial and ethnic minorities, many of whom are
medically underserved. Our health status depends on how we live our daily lives, how we interact
with the environment in which we live, and our support systems (Knickman & Kovner, 2015).
Access to Health Care
According to Human Rights Watch (2014) access to health, and scarcity is a fundamental problem
amongst many people that reside in a southern part of the United States. Health care access and

Cost of Health Without the proper nutritional education and meals from their homes, children are
undoubtedly going to become unhealthy and presumably overweight. Both the stereotypes and
physical side effects of being obese can affect a child greatly. Children from poor families are at risk
of falling victim to the epidemic that is childhood obesity because of a lack of access to healthy
foods. Unfortunately, fresh, nutritional food is sold for astronomical prices compared to
prepackaged, processed food. If a child's family is of low socioeconomic status, it is only logical
that they are the one's who most often suffer from obesity. In this section, not only will I discuss the
health implications this places on a child's life, but the psychological ... Show more content on

The emotions and hormones that naturally run through children as they reach upper elementary
through high school are enough to bring doubt and a lack of self confidence, but the stereotyping
and treatment of those who are overweight is another obstacle that is often too difficult to overcome.
As Morimoto (2008) states "...fat people are generally perceived as less intelligent, incompetent,
lazy, socially unpleasant, and emotionally unstable" (p.30). These ill harbored feelings of fat as a
"...great social, economic, and moral evil" (Morimoto, 2008, p. 30) cause the low socioeconomic
students who are overweight due to the previously discussed reasons to be thought of as lesser by
themselves and their peers. Obese students are often treated as social outcasts because of the
stereotypes surrounding their weight. Not only does the lack of friends affect their overall happiness,
but there is also a great chance of the children viewing themselves through the same lens their peers
were taught to use. The self fulfilling prophecy of being thought of as less capable therefore acting

Reflection On Health

BCP Reflection
Health is not only your physical health, but it's also about your mind and decision of how handle
things. As I get older, I could feel my body getting weak. I realized that I must change my life style
and start exercising every day to maintain my health from further worsening. Through this Behavior
Change Project in Health, I decided to get back in shape and regain my health by slightly changing
my daily routine.
According to one site, ethical egoism is the view that each of us ought to pursue our own self–
interest, and no–one has any obligation to promote anyone else's interests (Psychological Egoism,
2009). People generally are the best judges at identifying what their needs and interests are, and they
are much more motivated to work hard to benefit themselves than to achieve any other goal when
they are doing that they really need in life (Psychological Egoism, 2009). From the egoism ethical
viewpoint, my behavior change will be make me healthier not only physically, but also mentally and
emotionally. Overall, I will have improved a healthier lifestyle. The reason why I wanted to change
this behavior was to become healthier and also to help improve my self–image.
In the article "Goal setting for health behavior change", the author insists that specific intervention
strategies and the processes by which they lead to health–related behavior changes (Ries and
Blackman etc. 2014). So, I

Achieving wellness means attaining the optimal level of well–being for your specific limitations and
strengths. Balance of social, physical and mental aspects of your life to the best of your ability.
There are multiple facets to our daily health. Physical health consists of our ability to perform
normal activities of daily living. Social health is the ability to have a broad social network and have
satisfying interpersonal A relationships with friends, family members, and partners is a key part of
overall wellness.Intellectual health includes the ability to think clearly, reason objectively and
analyze critically. Emotional health enables people to express emotions when appropriate, and to
control them when not. Spiritual health forces people to have a sense of meaning and purpose in
your life. Environmental health allows people to understand the health of the environment around
them.
The Transtheoretical Model includes many complicated stages of the process of changing a
behavior. The Precontemplation stage consists of no intention of changing whether failing to change
before or being unaware of any problem. Contemplation stage is the first stage where people
recognize the presence of a problem and the need for change. Preparation stage is where people may
have come up with a plan of what to do. The Action stage is where people follow the first steps of
their plan. The Maintenance stage is the continuation of the plan and forces the plan to become a

Health Observation
With this being a Focus on Health (FOH) it was not a typical nursing assessment. For this particular
FOH section, two people were assigned to teach multiple groups of fourth graders about the
importance of eating a healthy breakfast. I was one of the two people assigned. In order to assess the
children, each presentation began with asking the children what they had for breakfast, do they think
their breakfast was healthy, and if they understood why breakfast was so important. From there we
(my partner and I) assessed their knowledge of healthy breakfast foods. It is from this point that the
presentation leads itself into playing "this–or–that" with various foods that were on the table. The
children would raise their hands if they believed for example Cheerios were the better breakfast
choice over Apple Jacks. Through continually asking questions and playing games, this is how the
children's knowledge was assessed.
Teaching and guidance was the main thing provided to the fourth graders at this particular focus on

Health Promotion And Health In Australia
A big part of life is eating and many people find pleasure in doing so. Having an understanding for a
healthy diet is a large part of nutrition. Eating a variety of fruit gives individual a better chance of
consuming all the nutrients and dietary fibre they need which could help prevent major health
conditions such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, obesity and certain cancers (Australian Bureau
of Statistics, 2012).
"Health promotion is a broad term to describe activities that help improve health and prevent illness.
It has a long history in Australia and many initiatives have aimed to alter attitudes and behaviours,
encouraging personal responsibility for health outcomes. Health promotion can reduce the burden of
illness and lead to social and economic benefits" (Lyons, A, 2015).
According to the World Health Organisation, low fruit and vegetable consumption is among the top
ten risk factors contributing to global mortality. In 2003, low fruit and vegetable consumption was
estimated to be responsible for 2.1% of the total burden of disease in Australia (World Health
Organisation, 2011).
Research shows that not many Australians are meeting the required intake of fruit and vegetables.

United States, selected years 1965–2013"; this table (below) was listed as table 52 on the report,

Mental Health And Physical Health
Physical Health involves getting adequate sleep and rest, eating nutritious meals, drinking enough
water, and being physically active on a regular basis. I put a bed on my poster to represent that I get
enough rest every night so that I can be refreshed in the morning. I make my bed comfortable and
only use it for sleeping purposes so that I do not become distracted with other things that keep me
awake, like the television. I put fries on my poster because fries are my favorite food. Though fries
make me happy, they are bad for my physical health because they are greasy, fried, and fattening.

frustrations. I put art on my poster because I have always been a good artist. Art is a form of therapy
for many people. Its is a enjoyable challenge and something that I can create to get my mind off of
hectic things. Lastly, I put a bath on my poster. I have always taken a lot of baths. Relaxing warm
baths help me destress and get away from daily demands. A major strength that I have for mental

pushing away negative thoughts. I attempt to use positive thoughts and actions to mover forward in

Oral Health Promotion For Health
Oral Health Promotion
Healthy People initiatives are compilations of health topics and interventions for healthcare
professionals to promote and improve quality of health nationally. These initiatives are science
based and expand throughout 10 years. Healthy People 2020 is the current initiative and was
initiated in December of 2010. This paper will discuss oral health promotion.
Healthy People Objective
The human body is intrinsically designed with its own system of checks and balances. Included in
that system are good bacteria that protect against harmful bacteria. This good bacteria colonizes the
skin, mouth, and entire gastrointestinal system, but can be detrimental if it crosses over to different
body systems. The mouth may be the most colonized area of the body. With good oral health
detrimental effects do not normally occur, but many Americans do not have good oral health.
According to the American Dental Association, your mouth is the window to your overall health
(Oral Health, n.d.).
Healthy People 2020 emphasis oral health in objective OH– 14. This objective is to increase the
proportion of adults who receive preventive interventions in dental offices (Beall, 2011, p.15). This
objective also includes three subcomponents of which two will be discussed. According to the
American Dental Association's Health Policy, the number of adults receiving dental services have
declined from its peak of 41 percent in 2003 to 37 percent in 2010 (Oral Health, n.d.).

Health Of Achieving Health And Wellness
Achieving health and wellness is a highly individualized, dynamic process that is characterized by
six interrelated dimensions: physical, social, intellectual, emotional, spiritual, and environmental
health. The focus of this paper is my physical health as it relates to wellness.
Furthermore, the objective of focusing on my physical health is to identify current health behaviors
and factors that may be impacting and prohibiting me from achieving optimal physical health. Using
the Transtheoretical Model for Stages of Change1 as a guide, I will identify a specific health
behavior I am seeking to improve, and outline an action plan to achieve and maintain good physical
health.
In assessing my health behaviors, I have identified three specific behaviors that have negatively
impacted my physical health: lack of physical activity, poor nutrition and inadequate sleep. The
factors that I attribute to these current heath behaviors are: a lack of social support and guidance, the
nutritional value of foods consumed (as related to the culture in which I was raised), and time
management.
I attribute my lack of physical activity to an absence of social support and guidance in my life. For
example, my mother suffers with cardiovascular disease (CVD), yet rarely engages in physical
activity. Five years ago, my mother had a heart attack, and underwent an angioplasty2 in order to
receive a stent3. In accordance with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention

Health And Health Of The World Health Organization Essay
The definition of health according to the World Health Organization is: "a state of complete
physical, mental and social well–being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity". It is the
goal of health psychologists to identify and understand what determines physical, mental, and social
well–being. Rather than focusing on mental illness, it focuses on physical health. The aim of health
psychology is to promote and maintain health, prevent and treat illness, identify and diagnose the
correlation between health, illness, and dysfunction, and to improve the health care system and the
formation of health policies (Graham, 131).
Personal Interest
The field of health psychology interests me because I have personally seen the effects that
psychological processes have on a person's health and well–being. I was a caregiver to a family
member with a chronic health issue called Chronic Regional Pain Syndrome. I witnessed how stress,
negative thinking, and lack of social contact intensified their condition. Their physical health
drastically declined when their mental and emotional health was in a negative place. I noticed how
their depression compounded their pain, and in return, the pain exacerbated their depression. It was
a on–going vicious cycle. On the contrary, when they practiced stress relief methods, focused on the
positive things in life, their health improved immensely. Their symptoms improved and they were
able to tolerate their constant and chronic pain

Definition Of Health
My definition of health is when one feels an overall sensation of healthiness across all 7 aspects of
health. A person who focuses independently on each aspect of health, views them as separate
entities, and in doing so tries to improve them each individually without thoughts of the other
aspects, will rarely ever reach a state of good health. One achieves health through the recognition
that all the aspects of health are interconnected and changes in one aspect directly or indirectly
influence others and application of this knowledge to their everyday life. At this time in my life, not
all 7 dimensions of health are equal to me. As a stressed out first year science student I am
personally placing more emphasis on my intellectual/mental health, my emotional health, and my
occupational health. My ambition to learn and achieve high grades has left me in a position where I
find I often neglect my physical health, social health, environmental health, and spiritual health by

all seven aspects to be considered truly healthy, this statement is false. An example of someone who

their career and has taken to isolating themselves from their family, friends, and coworkers; while
they appear physically fit and possibly even in good mental health, they are not healthy

Another definition of Public Health in the 21st Century is, "The totality of all evidence–based public
and private efforts that preserve and promote health and prevent disease, disability and death
(Riegelman, 2010)".
The UK 's Faculty of Public Health defines Public Health as the science and art of promoting and
protecting health and well–being, preventing ill–health and prolonging life through the organised
efforts of society. Health promotion is the key element of public health practice.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) says public health systems are complex and
require the coordination of multiple organizations. Incredibly diverse number of occupations fall

Health Promotion : The Root Role Of Health And Social Health
HEALTH AND SOCIAL CARE
WHAT IS HEALTH PROMOTION Health promotion is the process of advising, or giving
information to develop the knowledge and skills to promote or change the behavior that affects
health. It covers a wild range of social interventions that benefits and protects individual health and
promote the quality of life by preventing the root causes of bad, ill health not just focusing on
treatment and cure, which helps people to increase control over and to improve their health and life
style. Health promotion is the best way to change a person's life, which is why we use it to save
individuals from risking their life and reducing the human race.
Health promotion stimulates a person to reduce risky behaviors, prevent diseases and maintain good
health at all times which reduces the amount of lives lost. It also provides the knowledge, skill and
positive attitude that bring about a healthy and longer life for the public and people around. It
creates awareness and also provides information that is useful in helping people, which can also be
useful to the society. Health promotion enhances the quality of life for all people, by focusing on
prevention; it reduces the costs of both financial and human that individuals, employers, families,
communities, and the nation would spend on medical treatment. Through this lots of lives would be
saved and probably the nation itself would be disease free. The government has put in place
different health promotion

Health Protection And Health Promotion

  • 1. Health Protection And Health Promotion When focusing on health protection and health promotion, it is important that people involved have an idea on what the specific aims are. The first aim of health protection and health promotion, is to considerably improve the health of the entire UK, this means that the factors which are leading to health deterioration need to be recognised and people need to be educated to be aware of this. Another aim of health protection and health promotion is to reduce the health inequalities within the population. Health inequalities include things such as the reducing the amount of people smoking, this will then leads to other diseases such as coronary heart disease and cancer becoming less common. Other health inequalities include improving the quality of support for children, improving nutrition, improving housing quality and preventing teenage pregnancies by educating teenagers and offering them contraception. The majority of these issues are trying to be sorted out but it is very challenging due to the huge numbers of people who still live like this. Health Promotion Health promotion promotes the right behaviours which should be carried out by people to ensure that they are leading themselves into good health. It encourages people to change the way which they behave, to give up any habits which are affecting their health, it makes them look at it from a different perspective. This negative and undesirable behaviour is changed to new behaviours which result in the person having a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 3. Home Health Aide: Oral Health The Home Health Aide: Oral Health For many seniors, the days of George Washington and wooden teeth did not seem like such a far– fetched concept. In fact, dentures and old age were virtually synonymous. Over the last few decades, the number of seniors who do not need to go down the path of tooth loss, dentures, and oral health misery has increased. While one of the most important steps in excellent oral health is regular dental check–ups, cleanings, and treatments, there are a number of things that can be done at home as well. Let's take a look at how a home health aide can help your senior loved one maximize their oral health. One of the most common oral health ailments in seniors is dry mouth. The problem is so widespread that many seniors ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Keeping the body hydrated is not just good for the body, but it keeps the mouth lubricated and washes the food and bacteria off of the teeth and gums. The American Cancer Society notes that the average age of people suffering from oral cancers is over 62 years of age. The vast majority of these cancers do not cause pain or discomfort in their early stages so detection is done through regular dental care. When problems are not detected early, the gums receded from the teeth and form pockets that collect bacteria. The gums eventually become sensitive, bleed, impact the underlying bone causing tooth loss, and end up causing disease. Many seniors are not able to properly care for their teeth and gums due to physical or mental limitations. A home health aide can ensure they are reminded to brush and floss daily. They are also able to schedule regular dental visits and even provide transportation to these appointments. When seniors are not able to care for their oral health at all, home health aides can provide this care for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Suddenly, memories of my tenth birthday party rush to the forefront of my mind; I still remember the savory pepperoni mingling with the sweet tomato sauce tantalizing my palate. Pizza isn't just a delicious treat; it's a reason to eat together. It creates and enhances memories, what late night cramming session would be complete without a piping hot pizza pie? When I dive into that thin crusted wonder, the last thing on my mind is the nutritional value of this greasy fix. This allows for the other flavors of the pizza to become enhanced. The study concluded that pizza with the thin crust and 75% cheese content was the most favored. This modification will allow for college campuses to substitute the greasy salty pizzas with the lighter more flavorful low sodium pizzas. According to an article from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, "the substitution of nutrients provided at levels in a pizza product meeting the HUSSC for usual pizza significantly improved dietary quality of children and adolescents eating pizza for school lunch." The aim of this study was to compare the daily intake of nutrients of children and adolescents between a pizza product meeting the US Department of Agriculture's Criteria for Health and a usual pizza product. In this double blind study, they used 337 children from ages 5 to 18. The results indicated that this was a positive way to improve the nutritious value of school lunches.ii In a consumer news article titled a Heap on Health, Denny Sharton discusses pizza and the various ways it can be a healthy choice. "It can contribute a reasonable portion of the recommended amounts from four of the five food groups in the U.S. Department of Agriculture 's Food Guide Pyramid, says Mavia Fletcher, one of USDA 's regional nutritionists. Health Pl Health Plans Essay Running head: HEALTH PLAN RECAP 1 HEALTH PLAN RECAP 6 Health Plan Recap Name University Health Plan Recap My health plan was constructed while keeping my own specific health profile in mind. As a mother of six, and one who developed on autoimmune disease, Dermatomyositis, seven years ago, I confront problems which others developing their own plans may not. The disease, which was successfully treated, nonetheless left a residue of chronic pain and fatigue, as well as depression, symptoms which were partnered with Primary Biliary Cholangitis, another autoimmune disease I was diagnosed with in 2015. This disease has resulted in additional pain. During the last few years of struggling with these illnesses, I have added some extra weight. Despite the above difficulties, I plan to exercise, eat better and reduce both my weight and my Body Mass Index. Not taking action is not an option, as a Life Check Assessment test I took scored me at just 5.7 out of 10, and described my health as one that was as at risk for diabetes and other problems. All research indicates that a clean, healthy, low–sodium diet, and regular exercise, would be a major boost to my health, and might even help in the battle against the autoimmune issues I am currently engaged with. • 11. Health Education : The Importance Of Health And Health From the time I started middle school, I have had a health and wellness education class each year throughout school. My first health class started in seventh grade and that is around the time I started to learn about the importance of health and wellness. As a kid, my diet was not what I would consider healthy. There were few fruits and vegetables outside of school lunches. I played three sports all of my life so I was an active person getting the important benefits of exercise. However, fast food was often a quick solution to eating after sport practice. Once I started to learn about healthy options in health class I was able to make conscious decisions on eating healthy. Health and physical education classes in high school started to explain why nutrition and exercise were important. Furthermore, I attended a private school that offered religion classes and I attended church weekly. Both of these influenced my spiritual wellness positively. After high school, I decided I wanted to study kinesiology and health promotion in college to learn more. After several years of learning about health and wellness in different aspects, I have come to believe that health and wellness can identify who a person is and what they value in their lives. For example, I exercise daily because it is one of the few beneficial practices that can improve nearly all aspects of health without requiring additional costs. • 13. Health And Social Determinants Of Health One of the most influential determinants of health, is early childhood development due to it's deep roots in childhood experience that shapes the physical and mental health of the individual as an adult. A child that starts off their lives on the right path with parent(s) that have adequate and well paying jobs who will provide the basic needs essential for development will inevitably will do well and a have greater chance of being healthy. Versus a child who is born in poverty and must live in such rough environments resulting from their parent's inability and lack of opportunity for employment, thus causing stress for day–to–day survival. Everyday living factors have consequences on children, which can have a direct and indirect effect to their health through their parent(s). In other words, the social determinants od health experienced by the patients have a huge influence on the health on their child's childhood experience. • 15. Health Determinants On Health Health determinants are the factors that can have a positive or negative impact on a person's health. Many things can affect how healthy we are, from a complex interplay between macro to molecular influence to influences from society (for example, the prevalence of drug and alcohol use), to individual factors such as genetic make–up. Education, employment, income, lifestyle, psychosocial and physiological factors can also influence a person's health and wellbeing. Health can also be significantly affected, and modified to some extent, by the quality and timeliness of the health care services we receive, including preventative health care such as education, screening and immunization. This multidimensional model (Figure 1, below) explains how a person's health and wellbeing result from a complex interplay between the influences listed above and other health determinants. We propose cooking demonstrations to promote awareness and urgency on spinal health with the introduction of "BackFood", food that are proven to reduce back pain (Figure 25). These cooking demonstrations will guide the students to the path of better spinal health and simultaneously promote the importance of spinal health. Health promotion empowers communities and individuals for healthy living through education. The primary goal of health promotion is prevention. Nurses are key in health promotion and will be seen in diverse settings as health promotion evolves the nursing profession. There are three levels to health promotion that are utilized to optimize health. The focus of the primary level is to have the client avoid or reduce high risk behaviors. The article by Prokhorov et al. (2010) demonstrates primary promotion. The team utilized an interactive computer program to reach high school students for smoking prevention. Cigarette smoking is the foremost avert reason for morbidity, mortality as well as decrease in life expectancy. Secondary Prevention Secondary promotion relates to early diagnosis. The client is partaking in risky behavior and the goal is to have early screening to reduce or halt the progression of the disease. Chou, Cottrell, Wasson, Raham, Guise, (2013) demonstrate secondary promotion as they reviewed the screening process for hepatitis C virus. Early identification could lead to improved clinical outcomes and reduce the possibility of transmission. Tertiary Promotion Tertiary promotion focuses on helping the client manage the disease, avoid further physical deterioration and to have the best quality of life possible. Lo Re, Teal, Localio, Amorosa, Kaplan, Gross, (2011) examine adherence to treatment for hepatitis C virus and virolgic outcomes. • 21. The Health Of Health Care Health care expenditures have risen drastically in the United States during the past 30 years. Much of the growth in health care spending can be linked to modifiable population risk factors such as obesity, which in turn gives rise to diseases. Rising disease prevalence and new medical treatments account for nearly two–thirds of the rise in spending. (see Per capita spending exhibit 2) It is for this reason that I feel healthcare reforms should focus on health promotion, cost–effective use of medical care, and public health interventions. An ideal society of healthy people regularly exercise, do not overconsume food, eat healthy, use seatbelts, avoid tobacco use, do not drink alcohol in excess, and avoid stress. But if there were no ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, for people who smoke, the lifetime costs, despite their shorter lives, are higher than those for nonsmokers by approximately one third. (cdc.gov) Poor health habits are highly associated with greater burdens of illness and a higher magnitude of mortality. If we can provide our society with information and guidelines about self–management and modest interventions, maybe we could lower rates of use of services. These interventions would offer objective guidelines to help a person decide whether medical assistance is required for a particular problem and give the information about home treatment, if appropriate for that instance. This in turn would give them increased confidence that many illnesses can be self–limited. Education given to consumers can increase their confidence about health decisions which in turn could reduce the costs of long–term health care, even in people with chronic disease. Innovations and advancements in medical treatment have also assumed a key role in the growth of treated disease prevalence. Most of the rise in spending per treated case can be linked to innovations in pharmacologic treatment. (cdc.gov) Many pharmacologic treatment advancements have given physicians new approaches for treating patients conditions, such as depression, hypertension, and hyperlipidemia. For depression along, the share of patients prescribed a psychotropic medication increased from 45 percent in 1997 to nearly 80 percent a decade later. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 25. Health And Public Health Public health may mean different things if you ask different people. However, the main definition is, "the health status of a defined group of people, or community, and the actions and conditions that protect and improve the health of the community (2002)." Public health can also be referred to as community health and truly involves the whole community and the issues that surrounds it. There are different health issues depending on the community meaning different assessments and implementations. Personal health is the health of an individual rather a group. It involves the diet, exercise, and lifestyle of an individual which creates a healthy wellbeing. According to Edberg (2015), there is a behavioral side to personal health including a person's attitude, and their own perception of the norms associated to that behavior. It depends on who you are around and what you believe in as being important in your life. Some people are very active and choose to prepare their meals and others eat fast food and are more movie watchers. There is nothing wrong with either side but moderation is key to everything so education on health lifestyles is important. Public health includes health assessments which are important to determine where the community stands and what needs improvement. It can include things such as, statistics on domestic violence, legalization of marijuana, effects of child abuse, smoking concerns, and health education. From my classroom experience and through interaction with literature texts, I have come to the conclusion that people can be responsible for their health. As a student of public health, it is important to maintain good personal health in order to address the public health problems in the future. To be responsible for my personal health, I have taken the initiative to implement a personal health behavior changing plan to test whether a positive reinforcement of rewarding myself to watch one episode of my favorite TV show each night is an effective method to change my eating habit in a short period of time. According to my health report generated by Blue Zones, I have a very unhealthy eating habit. I do not consume enough fruits and vegetables. One of the suggestions they give to me is to enjoy some fruit and vegetables every day, by which I could add 377 days to my life expectancy. As a result, I set my short term goal to be meeting the recommendation of daily fruit and vegetable intake (2.5 cups of fruits and 3.5 cups of vegetables) made by Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and Prevention base on my age (22), sex (male) and level of physical activity (30 – 60 minutes per day). Public health and Global health are both equally important in society. Public health focuses on a specific population or communities where as global health focus on health across national borders. The living conditions and unsanitary conditions all take part in the way global health affects poverty. While living in poverty most individuals do not have the adequate shelter or water. There are nearly 640 million people that do not have a safe place to live. There is 270 million that do not have the access to any health services. There are many people that live in poverty that cannot even afford to have adequate food to feed themselves or children. When an individual is not sure where the next meal will come from then; one can assure they will not be able to afford the access to healthcare. Typically in a country where poverty is extremely high, finding access to a safe water supply and nutritional food in order to survive would be more important than access to healthcare. Poverty can definitely have an impact on a person's educational level. In "2005 there were nearly 72 million children of school age that were not in school in developing countries" (UNICEF). If an individual does not know where they will sleep at night or if there will be food on the table to survive, then learning is not an important aspect in their life. • 40. Health And Health Of Health This learning log will firstly describe what is meant by health and what determinants are thought to affect health. An individual's health is influenced by a range of determinants. Health promotion plays a big part in an individual's health and wellbeing, one type of health promotion can be the way in which education can influence an individual. This learning log seeks to address the role that health education and promotion can help patients to take more responsibility for their own health. Aside from health promotion, nurses and others in the care industry have to understand and adopt certain care approaches that take into consideration the individual needs of people and their families. Health is very difficult to define as it is multidimensional and made up of different but linked elements. There is no universal definition of health as everyone has their own idea of what it means. However there has been a more rounded, summarised statement by the World health Organisation, Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well–being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity (WHO 1984). This statement suggests that health is a primary holistic concept. Nurses must have an open minded outlook onto the health of others. A nurse must see the patient as a whole and assess all aspects of health before being able to assist them in making decisions on how to make their life healthier. • 42. Health Of Health And Wellbeing Health, as defined by the World Health Organisation (WHO) (1946), is the "state of complete physical, mental and social well–being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity". Alternate definitions include "a dynamic state of well–being characterised by a physical and mental potential, which satisfies the demands of life commensurate with age, culture, and personal responsibility" (Birscher, 2005). Health and wellbeing statistics are vital information as an indicator of the health of the nation. The statistics produced are observed to vary between countries as different methods and standards of measures are applied. The extent of measurement also depends on the social awareness of the implications of health and wellbeing. One measure of health and wellbeing looks at the average life expectancy and mortality rates of the population. Most countries use this measure as it is easily accessible through hospital records and self–reporting health (SRH) surveys. One of the most frequently used health status indicators, life expectancy at birth is defined by the estimated life span of a newborn, on average, if current mortality rates are unchanged. However, the actual age–specific mortality rate of any particular birth cohort cannot be known in advance. If rates are falling, actual life spans will be higher than life expectancy calculated using current mortality rates. • 44. Health Assessment Of Families And Their Health Health is directly related to the activities in which we participate in, the food we eat, and the substances to which we are exposed to daily. Where we live and work, our gender, age, and genetic makeup also impact our health. (Nies, 2011) Assessments of family's health are to help focus on the control and prevention of diseases. Health assessment assist in determining an individual's perception of their quality of life along with the family's perception as a whole. This also helps to define a person's level of fulfillment when looking at his or her health status. One way that we as nurses can gather information on family and their health is by using Friedman's family assessment model. This model includes patterns such as values, perception of health, nutrition, sleep/rest, elimination, activity/exercise, cognitive and sensory perception, self–perception, role relationship, sexuality, and coping abilities. This tool helps the nurse outline, in an organized manner, of information gathered on a family's health. Values and perception of health refer to an individual's view of health as well as the beliefs and opinions they hold when dealing with health promotion and their well–being. The reason why I wanted to change this behavior was to become healthier and also to help improve my self–image. Oral Health Promotion For Health Oral Health Promotion Healthy People initiatives are compilations of health topics and interventions for healthcare professionals to promote and improve quality of health nationally. These initiatives are science based and expand throughout 10 years. Healthy People 2020 is the current initiative and was initiated in December of 2010. This paper will discuss oral health promotion. Healthy People Objective The human body is intrinsically designed with its own system of checks and balances. Included in that system are good bacteria that protect against harmful bacteria. This good bacteria colonizes the skin, mouth, and entire gastrointestinal system, but can be detrimental if it crosses over to different body systems. The mouth may be the most colonized area of the body. With good oral health detrimental effects do not normally occur, but many Americans do not have good oral health. According to the American Dental Association, your mouth is the window to your overall health (Oral Health, n.d.). Healthy People 2020 emphasis oral health in objective OH– 14. This objective is to increase the proportion of adults who receive preventive interventions in dental offices (Beall, 2011, p.15). Health Of Achieving Health And Wellness Achieving health and wellness is a highly individualized, dynamic process that is characterized by six interrelated dimensions: physical, social, intellectual, emotional, spiritual, and environmental health. The focus of this paper is my physical health as it relates to wellness. Furthermore, the objective of focusing on my physical health is to identify current health behaviors and factors that may be impacting and prohibiting me from achieving optimal physical health. Using the Transtheoretical Model for Stages of Change1 as a guide, I will identify a specific health behavior I am seeking to improve, and outline an action plan to achieve and maintain good physical health. In assessing my health behaviors, I have identified three specific behaviors that have negatively impacted my physical health: lack of physical activity, poor nutrition and inadequate sleep. The factors that I attribute to these current heath behaviors are: a lack of social support and guidance, the nutritional value of foods consumed (as related to the culture in which I was raised), and time management. I attribute my lack of physical activity to an absence of social support and guidance in my life. For example, my mother suffers with cardiovascular disease (CVD), yet rarely engages in physical activity. • 72. Health And Health Of The World Health Organization Essay The definition of health according to the World Health Organization is: "a state of complete physical, mental and social well–being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity". It is the goal of health psychologists to identify and understand what determines physical, mental, and social well–being. Rather than focusing on mental illness, it focuses on physical health. The aim of health psychology is to promote and maintain health, prevent and treat illness, identify and diagnose the correlation between health, illness, and dysfunction, and to improve the health care system and the formation of health policies (Graham, 131). Personal Interest The field of health psychology interests me because I have personally seen the effects that psychological processes have on a person's health and well–being. I was a caregiver to a family member with a chronic health issue called Chronic Regional Pain Syndrome. I witnessed how stress, negative thinking, and lack of social contact intensified their condition. Their physical health drastically declined when their mental and emotional health was in a negative place. I noticed how their depression compounded their pain, and in return, the pain exacerbated their depression. It was a on–going vicious cycle.
