Suppliers Power:
In Hong Kong market, there are so many food suppliers and food distributors which often supply
raw food materials to catering, for example, local fresh fish markets. Their principal activities are
supplying food to ultimate consumers. Moreover, most of the raw materials are imported, according
to the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department, over 90% of food is imported from other
countries. Unless the main ingredient of the product is not available, the bargaining power of

There is an issue in America, if not across all nations, which begs discussion. The issue plaguing
society is the fast food industry. It matters not if you are young, old, rich or poor; the fast food
industry is almost impossible to ignore in this era. One may raise the question of what exactly is fast
food. Merriam–Webster defines defines fast–food as food "designed for ready availability, use, or
consumption and with little consideration given to quality or significance" (1). Diving deeper into
this issue beyond the significant lack of nutritional value, lies not only the consumption of fast food
but also the constant bombardment of advertising society as a whole is exposed to. Think about it:
how long can a person watch a popular television channel without seeing a commercial for a popular
fast food chain? How long can one listen to a favored radio station without hearing about the latest
and greatest hamburger? In addition, a person cannot spend much time on the internet without
seeing an advertisement for fried chicken. The concept of the fast food industry and the tremendous

The USDA recently issued a warning about Foster Farms, an American West Coast poultry
company. They said they had found traces of salmonella in three of the chicken plants owned by
Foster Farms. Foster Farms did issue an apology but they did not recall their products. People are
continuously getting sick with over 500 illnesses to date. The USDA has not pushed for a recall
either because they lack the authority to ban salmonella on chicken. They said the salmonella was
growing "naturally" on healthy chickens and all the public had to do was cook the poultry

There is definitely a way to get rid of infected poultry and it's an investment the USDA should make
for research and development in the safety of American food. People really underestimate the effects
unhealthy food has on them. There are many reasons people don't look into the food they consume
on a daily basis. The main factors people look for with their food is convenience, price, and taste.
Unfortunately these accommodations come at the cost of the sanitary conditions of their food. The

"Welcome to Cook Out, may I take your order please?" This seemed to be some of the most used
words in my vocabulary for a while now. When I was 16 years old, I got my first job at the most
wonderful fast food restaurant ever, Cookout. This was not an ideal job for a 16–year–old. Most
teens dream of their first job being in their favorite clothing store, or maybe even their favorite
grocery store. I was that teen, but where I am from there are very limited options for 16 year olds so
I had to just settle for a fast food restaurant. We have all heard these typical assumptions about fast
food employees, they are all uneducated, they work too hard for little pay, and they are all rude with
nasty attitudes. How could you assume such things about a person just because they work in the fast
food industry? Throughout my paper, I will be talking about the main stereotypes I experienced
while working at cookout and how other employees and I dealt with it.
The building was very small on the outside. There were no windows, and there was only one way in
and out. People saw this and just assumed that we worked under poor conditions. This was certainly
not true. The building was actually big on the inside. We had plenty of room to move around and
perform our jobs properly. Random customers would come through the drive–thru and ask us "How
