How cool! Co–founder and original lead singer of Yes, Jon Anderson, has joined forces with prog–
rocks Roine Stolt, of The Flower Kings, and together as Anderson / Stolt, are releasing a new studio
release called; Anderson / Stolt – The Invention Of Knowledge. Comes out the 24th of June, via
InsideOut Music. News about the project been out for a while before I got wind of it. Being a music
reviewer, and having made a reputation for myself focusing on progressive rock music, and because
of already being a fan of Jon Anderson, and Roine Stolt, I immediately began emailing around to see
how quick I could acquire an advanced copy. The idea, so I could get a write up on it, out it's first
week of release. Ends up I score, so now all I have to do ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

While the music plays, I start researching. I come across a couple quotes from Jon Anderson, and
Roine Slolt included in a press release about the project:
Jon: ".....Music is always the driving force in my life...working with such a wonderful musician as
Roine Stolt made the creation of this album very unique. We are very excited with the release of
'Invention of Knowledge'."
Roine Stolt adds: "It is not aiming at being new Yes music; just new music, modern and classical,
rock and ethno, tribal and orchestrated, grooving and floating. Hopefully in the true spirit of
"progressive" – leaning forward, surprising and also comforting with familiar run–arounds. We've
been "inventing" as we go along – Jon is an endless source of new ideas. We've been bouncing ideas
back and forth for months and as a result there are probably dozens of versions of these songs. It's
been a very interesting and rewarding time and the result is just insanely detailed."
"I worked with The Flowers Kings duo of Jonas Reingold on bass and Felix Lehrmann on drums,
with Tom Brislin on keyboards. Tom had done the Yes Symphonic Tour, and I knew him well. It was
important for me to be comfortable with the musicians at this stage, because that way I was more
relaxed about telling them how we wanted it all to sound. If I had been in the studio with people
who were strangers, then I might have felt more

The Court Of The Crimson King
In the Court of the Crimson King, the debut album by King Crimson, is widely recognised as one of
the greatest progressive rock albums of all time, named by Rolling Stone Magazine as the best
progressive rock album of all time, other than Pink Floyd's fabled The Dark Side of the Moon
(1973). Featuring Greg Lake (later of Emerson, Lake & Palmer) on vocals and bass guitar, Robert
Fripp (who later played for David Bowie, Brian Eno, and with Andy Summer from The Police) on
guitars, Ian McDonald (who later joined Foreigner) on wind, keys and vibraphone, and Michael
Giles on drums and percussion, the album was released in 1969 with a now–famous painting (by
Barry Godber) of the "Schizoid Man" sung about in the first track as the record sleeve. ... Show

That being said, around the 3.40 mark, the solo appears to become more indulgent, and more of an
acquired taste than before. Thankfully, the saxophone returns at 4.20, with the riff used in the earlier
saxophone solo, and pulls the jam back into a more melodic territory. That is followed by a few
short riffs in free time, before returning to the main riff for a third verse around 5.50. The main riff is
repeated until about 6.40, when the song slowly starts accelerating, finishing in 20 seconds of
psychedelic cacophony – which is simply too much for many listeners.
The second track, "I Talk to the Wind", provides a mellow rest after the dense amalgamation of
noises towards the conclusion of the first track. The song starts with a flute, before a double–tracked
harmony vocal begins the main section of the song. It is a slow ballad, where the complex drum
lines are a lot lower in the mix, which allows for a softer, more melodic direction. Fripp's use of a
dark and jazzy guitar timbre lets the guitar's harmonics provide a smooth accompaniment for the
vocals and wind instruments. The major 7 chords also provide a slightly jazzy feel, before moving to
an F# minor 7, to resolve to a B major. This minor 7 gives a great suspended feel (in place of a
Bsus4), allowing Lake's vocals to follow a more fluid path. The wind–driven ballad is well mixed,
but at times, the wind can be a little loud, and harsh in

What Is The Mood Of Pink Floyd's Dark Side Of The Moon?
"Time is gone the song is over", now what? In life humanity craves more time. Time is the one
fixation we cannot get enough of. Since humanity is required to age, time seems to slip away. We
don't comprehend how time is synthesized. Society knows it goes on forever, regardless of what
happens in life. Pink Floyd's album, Dark Side Of The Moon, had immense success. It was recorded
in the summer of 1972 on Capital records. The song Time was written by Roger Waters and
recorded in the progressive era of rock and roll. The song is important because it demonstrates how
people don't realize that time slips away. The song displays this by means of engineering,
instruments, lyrics, and arrangement. Therefore, taking us into how this song fits the historical
context of the progressive era of rock and roll.
The song Time had aesthetic engineering that sets the mood of time ticking away. The band
consisted of David Gilmour, Roger Waters, Rick Wright, and Nick Mason. At first glance Pink
Floyd made the decision not to do use quadraphonic mix. Quadraphonic sound consists of four
channels, right front, left front, right rear, and left rear. This provides you with the impression of
sound coming from a corresponding number of separate sources. Pink Floyd realized that
quadraphonic sound was just beginning to develop at that time making them change their minds and
incorporate a quad mix. Which was arranged by their engineer Alan Parsons. The song starts with
clocks ticking, thunder,

years, the media has seemingly been more open about discussing issues of sexual assault.
Unfortunately, the approaches used to discuss these issues can at times be insensitive. However,
music has always been a major form of expression and a few artists have openly discussed their past
histories and experiences with sexual assault. Two artists that come to mind are Kesha and Lady
Gaga. Of course, there are many other examples but for the purpose of this discussion, I'm going to

the ways in which mass media messages impact our lives and relationships. The song that I've
chosen has had quite the impact. The lyrics alone can come off as a bit vague. I believe that the true
impact of the song lies within the performances. Originally, I saw the song performed on television

Open Pits In Canada
Open Pits The very first open–pit mines that were built in the world started around when men began
to develop tools and constructing massive stone monuments to their gods. They were known as
quarries. Quarries are open–pit mines that produce building materials and dimension stone, such as
granite, marble, limestone, and other tangible rock building materials. However, these open–pit
mines produced little to no pollution at all because the technology to extract every last gram of ore
from rack has not been developed. The process basically involves pulverizing every rock that comes
out of a mine with any trace of ore within it. This produces what is known as tailings. Tailings are
one of the biggest pollutants of the world to date. They are so toxic that they have to be mixed with
water to produce sludge and are pumped into ponds (known as tailings ponds) so that they are
rendered "obsolete". ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the United States, the Toxics Release Inventory, or TRI, plays the same role. When mining was
added to the TRI in 1997, the mining industry suddenly moved to the top of the list of polluters,
contributing over half the 7.77 billion pounds of toxic chemicals released to the environment. Most
of the pollutants came from the waste rock and tailings that are created at the mine site. (MAC:
Mines and Communities, 2007)
These mines are devastating to everything surrounding them if they are not regulated and managed
correctly, and there is one trying to be built up in Alaska. If built this mine is to be the largest open
pit mine to ever be built in the existence of all mankind. Contrary to its size its name does not give
convey its magnitude. The name being simply known as The Pebble

Analysis Of Progressive Moms In Hymn Berkin
Progressive moms composed via Hymn Berkin is about the imperative part ladies played all through
the Progressive War and how they were influenced. It clarifies all angles in a lady's existence with
an extensive variety of individual records from all kinds of different backgrounds, rich and poor.
Any individual who is occupied with the historical backdrop of the progressive war or the lives of
ladies amid this time and might want to look further into it would appreciate this book. It isn't just
for researchers however understudies too because of the magnificent way it was composed and how
the ladies' stories were told.
Tune Berkin is an educator of American History at Baruch School and the Graduate focus of the city

had seen. She trusted the Progressive War depicted an improbable perspective of sentiment, gallant
leaders and dashing aristocrat all dreams which had nothing to do with the monstrous reality. Some
of these truths were families who were torn separated, ladies who were assaulted and the general
every day life of a lady amid this period.
In the earliest reference point of Progressive Moms the parts of ladies amid the eighteenth century
were clarified. In one case from Representative Edward Hopkins it was said that he trusted his better

The pool attempts to engulf three large boulders sitting on the outskirts, only able to claim their

Persuasive Narrative : Bark Night Hike Adving
Bark Lake Night Hike Reflections
It was dark. Not so dark you couldn't see anything, but dark enough that you couldn't see anything
five feet in front of you. In front of me was our brave teacher, Mrs. Leys, behind me was my friend
Jake. Beside me was my friend Neha. We were terrified, clutching each other hands, we slowly
made our way through the rocky dark forest. Until, we came to a ginormous vertically angled rock
were Neha and I were struggling to make it through. First we saw Mrs. Leys slowly slide down like
a slide, Neha and I were petrified. We could see the beautiful shining lake while the glowing moon
reflected off it, you could almost taste the frigid lake water, the dirt was soft and squishy, but not
like mud, there was no smell except the sweet smell of the chilling flowers and trees around us.
Neha and I attempted to climb over the rock. That was an awful attempt. We saw that Mrs. Leys had
slid down the hill so Neha and I tried that. I got down first, next came Neha, she slid down and I
caught her at the end, next came Jake and he just jumped down like it was any normal day. Neha and
I were so relieved that we made it through alive. That was only the first rock sadly. The next one
came a couple metres after the fist one. This one wasn't as easy, we watched to see what Mrs. Leys
solution was, but this time, she did was what most of the rest of our class did and that was, trip and
fall down, that happened to me, but I was able to regain my balance. Neha wan't

Knockin On Heaven's Door Meaning
Knockin' On Heaven's Door One of Guns N' Roses popular songs is "Knockin' On Heaven's Door,"
but what many may not know is that this song was only a cover of the original song written by Bob
Dylan. Although the song is comprised of very few lyrics, it has a deep meaning for people. The
song was written by Bob Dylan in 1973 for the western film, Pat Garret and Billy The Kid. It is
written from the perspective of a dying sheriff (Songfacts). The song reached number 12 on the
Billboard Hot 100 singles chart (Aloisio). After it hit the charts, the song's popularity grew. Many
famous artists have covered the song, but another that stands out is the cover sung by Warren Zevon
around 2003. While the original and the covers sung by Guns N' Roses and Warren Zevon are
similar, the artists all bring their own emotion and meaning to the song. Bob Dylan's version of
"Knockin' On Heaven's Door" is number 192 on Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Songs of All Time list
(Rolling Stone). It starts off with a series of guitars to set the mood of the song (Dylan). This is not

Each artist made it their own, and have their own meaning for the song. Bob Dylan wrote the song
for a western film, and Guns N' Roses performed it for a tribute concert. Warren Zevon seems to
have had a more personal meaning of the song due to his battle with lung cancer as he was recording
the song for his album. Although Warren Zevon added a few things to his version of the song, his
and Bob Dylan's were still very similar. Both portrayed a darkness and sadness to the song which I
believe was the intention of the song when it was written by Bob Dylan. Guns N' Roses added a
different touch with their unique voices, and rock feel to the music. The energy of the song was
more up–beat, and less somber. The songs were a joy to listen to, but the one that I would put on
repeat is the cover by Guns N'

Walls
"Do you ever have the feeling that you are missing out on something important?" Ryan starts. "It's
Probably because you are." (Loc. 247) Many of us are missing out on all God has for our life. What
is keeping us from living the life God intends? Walls– separating us from the greatness God has
destined for us. We get stuck plateauing in our spiritual progress, seeming to come to a screeching
halt with our growth in the Lord. This is the issue Rush begins to portray in his book, Walls.

The Canadian Progressive Rock Band Rush
Books, movies, paintings, music, and other types of art are connected in various ways, but one
connection seems to stand out. All art mediums are constructed in a way that disallows a median to
be reached regarding one's opinion from another. If a group of people favors one thing, another
group most likely exists that has the opposite, or conflicting opinion. 2112, read Twenty–one twelve,
is a 7–part conceptual album by the Canadian progressive rock band Rush, illustrates this conflict in
its main plot. Regardless of its vivid storytelling and impactful instrumentals that glues everything
together, it is evident that each listener will break apart in terms of their personal opinions.
2112, much like in Anthem by Ayn Rand, the dystopic idea of equality and how everyone should
cherish their unique identities that they possess. The main character, named Anonymous, retaliates
against the idea by not conforming to what is expected by the "Priests of the Temples of Syrinx", but
the factor driving him ultimately was the will to venture outward and appreciate something that
seemingly no one else sees. The conversation between Anonymous, and the priest during "IV.
Presentation", separates light from dark. Anonymous, after discovering a guitar that the "Elder race
of man" left, speaks out to share his opinions. "I can 't believe you 're saying / These things just can
't be true / Our world could use this beauty / Just think what we might do" (Rush, IV. Presentation).

The Death Of The Frontier And Progressive Era Essay
Ragtime is full with a myriad number of characters, from Harry Houdini to Booker T Washington,
but the pivotal characters in my eyes were Mother and Father. There's something to be said when the
main characters of a novel don't even have names, unlike the many other minor characters, who
were major players in history. What makes them stand out even more is the fact that Mother and
Father weren't the only fictional characters, however, they as long as all of the members of their
family, including Little Girl who would join Mother's family at the end of the tale, were the only
ones who were not named. That's because it's an obvious way for Doctorow to use them as a symbol
for the typical middle–class American family during the Progressive Era. However, this is not the
only role they had. In addition, the death of the Frontier and the birth of the Progressive Era is
shown in Ragtime through the developing relationship between Father and Mother who represent
the Frontier and Progressive Era respectively. The relationship they share is a unique one and vital to
the image Doctorow is trying to depict, the change occurring in time. There's a reason Father and
Mother, a married couple, were used in this way rather than another relationship, and that is because
an era does not erratically die, but rather the merging of new and old ideas forms a marriage
between the two eras before one is completed. Just like two time periods, Father and Mother change
positions. While Father grows

Progressive Rock Era
The progressive rock era was primarily found and established in the late 1960s to the early 1970s. It
primarily evolved due to a "mostly British attempt to elevate rock music to new levels of artistic
credibility." The primary characteristics of this genre is to push the boundaries of "rock's technical
and compositional boundaries." By utilizing this idea, the songs produced incorporate elements from
jazz, classical, and vary greatly depending on the background of the person. If a musician grew up
listening to Jazz, there will be lots of jazz elements found in the progressive music he or she was
producing. The instrument choice also provides a huge element of the unique sound a musician or
band presents through his or her music.

New York State Prison: A Short Story

"Settle down tough guy," he replied, surprisingly calm. "Now, 'bout you tell me why you're 'ere," so
I decided to tell him my whole story. Twenty years ago tonight, my best friend, Jimmy Wells, and I
dined at a restaurant called "Big Joe" Brady's. Jimmy and I were just like brothers, but the next day I
headed for the West. Jimmy stayed here in New York, though. So we decided, exactly twenty years

Creative Writing: Wayward
Damien stepped forwards and pushed open the grandiose metal doors before their path. Said doors
loudly screeched as they were unfolded to expose a thriving hub on the first floor. In what looked
like a pre–war mall – there had been stores, carts, merchants, mercenaries, prostitutes, and many
other forms moving among the linking corridors and lobbies. Commotion rung from wall to wall
with sales pitches and the buzz of conversation. Wayward lived up to its name within the single
building. The lobby and foundation of the town went on endlessly from the entrance. When both of
them stepped in far enough, the sound of the doors closing behind them also brought forth the more
romantic glow of the interior. No longer was the sun pouring down on their backs. Instead, what

Visual Analysis Downy
You're tossing and turning in your bland, beat–up bed sheets after a long, tiring day. You are so tired
but just cannot get any sleep. With Downy's Sweet Dream Collection, that will not happen ever
again. Downy's Sweet Dream Collection will rejuvenate your sheets and pajamas giving them a
sweet smell and relaxing feeling. With its appeal to the emotion of comfort and how people love to
sleep soundly, the Downy's Sweet Dream Collection advertisement successfully reaches out to
everyone from infants to the elderly with peaceful colors, a soothing vibe, and effective information
on the product. To begin with, the color in this advertisement effectively reaches out to people's

In the television advertisement, they actually show the woman tossing and turning in her sheets.
They are giving an example of what it looks like at night time without Downy's Sweet Dream
Collection. In addition, they show the woman sleeping happily after they introduced Downy's Sweet
Dream Collection in the television and paper advertisements, so to sum it up, they are trying to
represent how their product makes you sleep more soundly and peacefully. The acting, however, is a
bit exaggerated. While most people do not actually toss and turn that forcefully during their sleep,
the exaggeration helped get their point across more effectively. Lastly, the music can contribute to
the mood of the advertisement, too. The music they play in the television advertisement is subtle and
relaxing. It almost sounds like a children's lullaby, and lullabies are known for getting children to
sleep soundly. They may have played that music in the background to give the audience a better
understanding of another reason how their product is great for helping people fall asleep

Sensory Room Experience Paper
One day early into my internship with Eagle Village the counselor Misty and I was discussing
residents and their sensory needs. She showed me the sensory room located on Eagle Village
campus what is filled with all different objects for sensory. Objects ranging from foam roller, lava
lamps, message chairs, stability balls, board scooters, fidgets, body socks and putty. The majority of
these objects and devices are not located at the resident houses. Although the room is a fantastic
resource it does have some limitations, such as, only one group or resident may be in there at a time
and all residents in the sensory room must be with staff. In addition, not all the staff has the key to
the sensory room, only the house supervisors, counselors, and higher up administration. The sensory
room must be scheduled in advance to hold your spot. With these laminations, not just any staff can
take a resident who may be having a dilemma or a hard time in the room at any time. Therefore,
Misty and I were discussing that the residents need a more reliable sensory outlet and tools then just

for the country's most eminent citizens, and authorized by a congressional resolution or approved by
congressional leadership once given the immediate family's consent (Cochrane, 2018). For two
days, Mr. Graham will lie in honor, until he is later laid to rest on March 2nd in Charlotte, North

Musical Development From The 50 ' S
Musical development from the 50's to the present day
1950's
The 1950's was a very important decade in the development of music as it saw the birth of rock n'
roll. Artists such as Elvis Presley and Chuck Berry took the style of playing already established in
genres such as blues and country music and completely renovated it. They took the idea of a 12 bar
blues pattern and sped it up and added rhythmic, catchy hooks to make the music easy to dance to.
The lyrics of songs about the genre itself as well as teenage love and sex, although the latter was
only referred to through slang terminology, appealed greatly to teenagers of the time due to their
rebellious nature.
Rock n' roll also saw the bass guitar replacing the upright bass in most ... Show more content on

Songs such as hound dog and jailhouse rock made him one of the most renowned performers of all
time and still influence music greatly even today.
While Presley was no doubt the most successful and best known artist of the decade, there are
several other performers who were key figures in establishing rock n' roll as the music of the era.
Artists such as Jerry Lee Lewis, Chuck Berry and Bill Haley and the comets played an integral role
in creating rock n' roll and making it a success with songs such as Johnny B Goode and rock around
the clock .
1960's
Without a doubt the most influential event in the development of music in the 1960's was what
became known as the British invasion. With the televised beatings of peaceful civil–rights protestors
the American youth became disenchanted with their government and the music that was produced
up until 1963 began to reflect that. After 1963 however acts that had been hugely successful in
Britain began to make appearances in America, most notably the Beatles. The band, later known as
the fab four, became an overnight success in the states and very few American artists maintained any
semblance of popularity as a result of the ensuing beatlemania as it

Fishing Persuasive Essay
It twas a warm July morning and the best friends George and Jeff were out on the water. The two
boys loved fishing and they would always try to go. When they would comeback they would always
have new stories and forever memories from their previous adventure. The boys would do whatever
it took to get to a fishing spot. The boys have stories from when they had to swim upstream to a
spot, or have to tightrope walk a dam, once they even kayak down river for 3 days just to get to a
fishing hole.
One day the two boys were in church, when George looked over at Jeff whose face could show that
he had an idea. A couple minutes later George looked over again and made eye contact with Jeff,
Jeff lipped out the words "We need to talk." After the church bells signaled the end of the service
George hustled to the meeting spot under the berry tree where him and Jeff always met. Georged
asked "What you wanna talk about?" Jeff told him about his plan to canoe the Llano river from
Llano Texas to Lake LBJ. It was music to George's ears.
Jeff went home after church to think about their trip. He thought about all the good times they had
and all the fish they caught on the Llano. He dreamed about their trip and was counting down the
days until his trip. At night he would dream about pulling in a monster, or he would have nightmares
of his line snapping.
The day came when after church Jeffs mom, Ms.Julie asked if George's mom is George could go to

Appreciating experimental music and progressive music
In order to appreciate these two types of music, one must look at a bit of background of each. To
start, music has distinct elements that audience members should learn to identify and recognize in
music. Essentially, progressive rock draws on many other styles of music such as jazz, classical
music especially from the baroque period as well as a touch of folk. Whereas, experimental music is
often assigned to any music that strays outside of accepted classification or exploration of sounds
that the listener is not yet familiar with. This knowledge and information will help improve the
listeners experience. Learn to appreciate the richness of music and bring more fulfillment to your

Most of the experimental composers and musicians viewed their instruments as unlimited and were
constantly exploring its possibilities, searching for new and original modes of composition to create
distinct effects or a new "language" that not everyone speaks yet or it is actually just sort of an
attitude of openness and discovery. However, the melody used in the experimental music is not very
readily appreciated because it is not very melodious, uses a lot of unusual character and somehow
the music is being new to us, the relationship are not sufficiently effective. Listeners dislike it,
because we expect something else from our musical habits. Progressive rock is also experimenting
or generating new sounds through the development of recording technology such as mellotron. It
made all sounds available for potential use as musical elements for both types of music. Even
though listeners might find it hard to accept but listening to this kind of music did help us to better
channel our creativity because it against and challenge our natural thinking. Listening to both

2,000 to 4,000 items introduced by bot h H&M and Gap. In the fashion world, this difference is
huge. Zara stores receive new merchandise two to three times each week, whereas most dothing
retailers get large shipments on a seasonal basis, four to six times per year. As part of its strategy to
introduce more new items with greater frequency, Zara also produces items in smaller batches. Thus,
it assumes less risk if an item doesn 't sell well. But smaller batches also means exclusivity, a unique

Customers are enticed to check out store stock more often, leading to very high levels of repeat

Characteristics And Characteristics Of The Mineral Lazurite
There are a myriad of minerals, gemstones, and rocks throughout the world with each having select
features and characteristics that differentiate one another. When selecting a mineral to conduct a
research report on, one could be drawn to Lazurite for a multitude of factors whether it be the
aesthetically pleasing appearance or the various ways it has been incorporated throughout history.
Therefore, one can define such a magnificent mineral by characteristics and historical application
for which humans have tended to gravitate towards. First and foremost, the mineral Lazurite has
many scientifically definable features. For example, in terms of hardness on the Mohs scale,
Lazurite falls within the range of 5–5.5 which is about the halfway point between the weakest
minerals and the strongest. As for another feature of Lazurite, the color usually falls in an array of
blues from light to dark and sometimes green or even violet. When Lazurite is ground into a powder
formally known as a streak, it brings forth the true color of the mineral and blue seems to be the
case. When referring to the luster, one can define three different characteristics such as a vitreous,
greasy, and waxy appearance. The luster is an illumination of the reflected light upon the surface
space of the mineral. Therefore in terms of luster, it would be classified as a nonmetallic due to
vitreous (glassy) or greasy appearance. According to the article "Guide to Minerals, Rocks, and
Fossils," Lapis–Lazuli is

Everything Dali Paints Symbolizes Something Else Essay
Dali's Vision
The painting "Dream Caused By The Flight Of A Bee Around A Pomegranate A Second Before
Awakening" was painted by Dali in 1944. The painting is an oil on canvas painting with a dimension
of 51cm x 40.5 cm. Salvador Dali was a prominent Spanish surrealist painter born in Spain. In his
masterpiece he uses many different lines and colors to enhance what is going on in the painting. He
illustrates a fruit, a fish, tigers, a rifle and a woman wearing no clothes sleeping. With every single
object and or living thing shown he is making a statement and everything in the painting itself
symbolizes something in the world. Dali's "Caused by the flight of a bee around a pomegranate a

The two tigers increase the seriousness of their aggression, while only one does not. Also, the rock is
seen frequently throughout the painting, in the far sea beyond both the woman and the wild animals,
the cliff, and lastly the flat rock over which the woman is floating. As such, the firmness of the rock
is repeated. Moving on the artwork is very metaphorical with the woman representing humanity or
more explicitly, innocence and all that is good. The rock that she is floating above represents moral
principles. The tigers thinking themselves to be triumphant, over the restful woman without the
support of the solid rock. Meanwhile, the antagonism of animals, and more precisely, the dismays of
battle are about to descend upon the people like a downpour. The evil and horrors came from the
sweet nectar of the pomegranate, which seemed to be so blameless on the outside, but filled with
mischievousness and destruction. After all the forbidden fruit was a pomegranate according to what
has been said.
Similar with the paintings focus is in the bee flying around the smaller pomegranate. This elephant,
with its long legs and its great load, characterizes the worldly greed, which also differed from the
traditional principles, Its long legs represent its disregard for others, especially those in need, like
the woman who is about to be attacked. As a result, the elephant is no better than the tigers about to
mangle and kill the woman.
Henceforth, Dali's "Caused by

Family In Huckleberry Finn
Throughout Train's novel "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn" Huck is a character with a series of
unfortunate events happening throughout this book. Huck learns many things throughout his
journey, but one thing that stuck out to me is the importance of family. Family is a necessity
throughout the whole novel of "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn" by Mark Twain. Huck is
impacted by his family in different ways throughout the book. First was with the widow when he
was first introduced to responsibilities in the family. Then with Pap when he was introduced with the
comfort of family. Then he meets Buck and sees his dream life in Buck, and what his "dream
family" would look like. Family is important to have in life. Family may seem to be struggling at

This may not seem like a very good situation to feel comforted, but once Huck got over the fact that

knew that the sense of freedom he now has is very much larger than what he had with the widow.

responsibility the widow required. Also the time Huck spent with Pap and the comfort, and relaxing

Progressive Rock 1970s
Progressive rock of the 1970s and the paradox of "popular serious art"
Progressive rock of the 1970s represents a unique moment in the modern music and culture history;
moment which introduced an atypical association of the highly sophisticated and complicated means
of expression, derived mainly from the area of so–called serious art, with the wide popularity,
bordering almost with fashion. American Marxist philosopher and social theorist Bill Martin aptly
named this remarkable phenomenon of progressive rock, which was based on the British rock
experimentalism of the second half of the sixties and which became a global artistic trend in the
following decade, using the paradoxical term "popular avant–garde".
The proposed conference contribution will present the issue of progressive rock genre in a synthetic
manner and with regard to the mentioned key feature of the juxtaposition of the "serious" and
"popular" or "high" and "low" art. Apart from the aesthetic and formal aspects, the socio–cultural
and socio–functional issues will be discussed as well. Particular attention will be paid to the

Progressive rock which was first known as progressive pop, later prog rock is a rock subgenre of
music that originated in the United Kingdom. It soon later had further developments in Germany,
Italy, and France, throughout the mid–to–late 1960s and 1970s. Prog rock developed from
psychedelic rock, and originated as an attempt to give greater artistic weight and credibility to rock
music. Bands abandoned the short pop single in favor of instrumentation and compositional
techniques more frequently associated with jazz or classical music in an effort to give rock music
the same level of musical sophistication and critical respect.
Progressive rock sometimes abandons the danceable beat that defines earlier rock styles and is more

Average Music Review Sample

  • 1. Average Music Review Sample How cool! Co–founder and original lead singer of Yes, Jon Anderson, has joined forces with prog– rocks Roine Stolt, of The Flower Kings, and together as Anderson / Stolt, are releasing a new studio release called; Anderson / Stolt – The Invention Of Knowledge. Comes out the 24th of June, via InsideOut Music. News about the project been out for a while before I got wind of it. Being a music reviewer, and having made a reputation for myself focusing on progressive rock music, and because of already being a fan of Jon Anderson, and Roine Stolt, I immediately began emailing around to see how quick I could acquire an advanced copy. The idea, so I could get a write up on it, out it's first week of release. Ends up I score, so now all I have to do ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While the music plays, I start researching. I come across a couple quotes from Jon Anderson, and Roine Slolt included in a press release about the project: Jon: ".....Music is always the driving force in my life...working with such a wonderful musician as Roine Stolt made the creation of this album very unique. We are very excited with the release of 'Invention of Knowledge'." Roine Stolt adds: "It is not aiming at being new Yes music; just new music, modern and classical, rock and ethno, tribal and orchestrated, grooving and floating. Hopefully in the true spirit of "progressive" – leaning forward, surprising and also comforting with familiar run–arounds. We've been "inventing" as we go along – Jon is an endless source of new ideas. We've been bouncing ideas back and forth for months and as a result there are probably dozens of versions of these songs. It's been a very interesting and rewarding time and the result is just insanely detailed." "I worked with The Flowers Kings duo of Jonas Reingold on bass and Felix Lehrmann on drums, with Tom Brislin on keyboards. Tom had done the Yes Symphonic Tour, and I knew him well. It was important for me to be comfortable with the musicians at this stage, because that way I was more relaxed about telling them how we wanted it all to sound. If I had been in the studio with people who were strangers, then I might have felt more ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 3. The Court Of The Crimson King In the Court of the Crimson King, the debut album by King Crimson, is widely recognised as one of the greatest progressive rock albums of all time, named by Rolling Stone Magazine as the best progressive rock album of all time, other than Pink Floyd's fabled The Dark Side of the Moon (1973). Featuring Greg Lake (later of Emerson, Lake & Palmer) on vocals and bass guitar, Robert Fripp (who later played for David Bowie, Brian Eno, and with Andy Summer from The Police) on guitars, Ian McDonald (who later joined Foreigner) on wind, keys and vibraphone, and Michael Giles on drums and percussion, the album was released in 1969 with a now–famous painting (by Barry Godber) of the "Schizoid Man" sung about in the first track as the record sleeve. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... That being said, around the 3.40 mark, the solo appears to become more indulgent, and more of an acquired taste than before. Thankfully, the saxophone returns at 4.20, with the riff used in the earlier saxophone solo, and pulls the jam back into a more melodic territory. That is followed by a few short riffs in free time, before returning to the main riff for a third verse around 5.50. The main riff is repeated until about 6.40, when the song slowly starts accelerating, finishing in 20 seconds of psychedelic cacophony – which is simply too much for many listeners. The second track, "I Talk to the Wind", provides a mellow rest after the dense amalgamation of noises towards the conclusion of the first track. The song starts with a flute, before a double–tracked harmony vocal begins the main section of the song. It is a slow ballad, where the complex drum lines are a lot lower in the mix, which allows for a softer, more melodic direction. Fripp's use of a dark and jazzy guitar timbre lets the guitar's harmonics provide a smooth accompaniment for the vocals and wind instruments. The major 7 chords also provide a slightly jazzy feel, before moving to an F# minor 7, to resolve to a B major. This minor 7 gives a great suspended feel (in place of a Bsus4), allowing Lake's vocals to follow a more fluid path. The wind–driven ballad is well mixed, but at times, the wind can be a little loud, and harsh in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. What Is The Mood Of Pink Floyd's Dark Side Of The Moon? "Time is gone the song is over", now what? In life humanity craves more time. Time is the one fixation we cannot get enough of. Since humanity is required to age, time seems to slip away. We don't comprehend how time is synthesized. Society knows it goes on forever, regardless of what happens in life. Pink Floyd's album, Dark Side Of The Moon, had immense success. It was recorded in the summer of 1972 on Capital records. The song Time was written by Roger Waters and recorded in the progressive era of rock and roll. The song is important because it demonstrates how people don't realize that time slips away. The song displays this by means of engineering, instruments, lyrics, and arrangement. Therefore, taking us into how this song fits the historical context of the progressive era of rock and roll. The song Time had aesthetic engineering that sets the mood of time ticking away. The band consisted of David Gilmour, Roger Waters, Rick Wright, and Nick Mason. At first glance Pink Floyd made the decision not to do use quadraphonic mix. Quadraphonic sound consists of four channels, right front, left front, right rear, and left rear. This provides you with the impression of sound coming from a corresponding number of separate sources. Pink Floyd realized that quadraphonic sound was just beginning to develop at that time making them change their minds and incorporate a quad mix. Which was arranged by their engineer Alan Parsons. The song starts with clocks ticking, thunder, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

You tell me it gets better, it gets better in time You say I'll pull myself together, pull it together You'll be fine Tell me what the hell do you know What do you know Tell me how the hell could you know How could you know 'Til it happens to you, you don't know How it feels How it feels 'Til it happens to you, you won't know It won't be real No it won't be real Won't know how it feels You tell me hold your head up Hold your head up and be strong 'Cause when you fall, you gotta get up You gotta get up and move on 2. In recent years, the media has seemingly been more open about discussing issues of sexual assault. Unfortunately, the approaches used to discuss these issues can at times be insensitive. However, music has always been a major form of expression and a few artists have openly discussed their past histories and experiences with sexual assault. Two artists that come to mind are Kesha and Lady Gaga. Of course, there are many other examples but for the purpose of this discussion, I'm going to refer to prominent figures in popular ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These media sources tend to reach all types of audience members. As such, chapter four also notes the ways in which mass media messages impact our lives and relationships. The song that I've chosen has had quite the impact. The lyrics alone can come off as a bit vague. I believe that the true impact of the song lies within the performances. Originally, I saw the song performed on television during the Oscars. During the performance, 50 survivors of sexual assault came onto the stage. In her music video, the video displays statistics about sexual assaults that occur on college campuses. The ending of the video shares the phone number of National Sexual Assault Hotline. Both the live performance the messages presented in the video relate to messages from the mass ... • 9. Open Pits In Canada Open Pits The very first open–pit mines that were built in the world started around when men began to develop tools and constructing massive stone monuments to their gods. They were known as quarries. Quarries are open–pit mines that produce building materials and dimension stone, such as granite, marble, limestone, and other tangible rock building materials. However, these open–pit mines produced little to no pollution at all because the technology to extract every last gram of ore from rack has not been developed. The process basically involves pulverizing every rock that comes out of a mine with any trace of ore within it. This produces what is known as tailings. Tailings are one of the biggest pollutants of the world to date. They are so toxic that they have to be mixed with water to produce sludge and are pumped into ponds (known as tailings ponds) so that they are rendered "obsolete". ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the United States, the Toxics Release Inventory, or TRI, plays the same role. When mining was added to the TRI in 1997, the mining industry suddenly moved to the top of the list of polluters, contributing over half the 7.77 billion pounds of toxic chemicals released to the environment. Most of the pollutants came from the waste rock and tailings that are created at the mine site. (MAC: Mines and Communities, 2007) These mines are devastating to everything surrounding them if they are not regulated and managed correctly, and there is one trying to be built up in Alaska. If built this mine is to be the largest open pit mine to ever be built in the existence of all mankind. Contrary to its size its name does not give convey its magnitude. Essay On Old Man's Cave Old Man's Cave This intrinsic formation of expansive foliage, stone and soil showcase what can be offered in the form of natural beauty –– bolstered in part by a creation of a seamlessly interwoven trail, taking many forms it will follow throughout the musty voids of cool stone, past the crashing flow of waterfalls, and into the expanse of lumbering cedar giants. Natural formations of rock with stunning depth and size introduce a smooth, chiseled out staircase, of solid gray stone, which leads downward into grooved out tunnel of stone running through the earth. The solid walls are rough and uneven, with an oozing stability. Running a finger across may yield a feeling of minor abrasion, with a small, distinct scraping heard. This sound ... As the the path starts to decline, it begins shifting toward the direction of the valley. Running water can be heard, flowing in a manner of constant control and power, slowing only at certain times of the seasons. To the left, a waterfall can be partially seen roaring with a vigorous energy, cascading down the rock, plummeting into a shallow pool of water. The pool attempts to engulf three large boulders sitting on the outskirts, only able to claim their undersides. Further, a bridge comes into view, standing proud, with a solid construction of rock and mortar. On each side it offers a wall, both of which rise to protect from the drop below, with the left side forming a connection to the stone wall that preceded them. The path continues on, its convex shape of smooth stone created, suspended in the air. It finds little to care about the stream below, which meekly runs off to connect to the main pool. As the waterfall finds itself in full view, it is proudly able to show off the full might it possesses. Continuing, the path soon finds itself at the beginning of a new set of stairs. The stairs are a bit more deteriorated and uneven, showing lots of cracks and moss. They hug around a corner of exposed rock with a smaller, aging stone wall built to its right side. Not so dark you couldn't see anything, but dark enough that you couldn't see anything five feet in front of you. In front of me was our brave teacher, Mrs. Leys, behind me was my friend Jake. Beside me was my friend Neha. We were terrified, clutching each other hands, we slowly made our way through the rocky dark forest. Until, we came to a ginormous vertically angled rock were Neha and I were struggling to make it through. First we saw Mrs. Leys slowly slide down like a slide, Neha and I were petrified. We could see the beautiful shining lake while the glowing moon reflected off it, you could almost taste the frigid lake water, the dirt was soft and squishy, but not like mud, there was no smell except the sweet smell of the chilling flowers and trees around us. Neha and I attempted to climb over the rock. That was an awful attempt. We saw that Mrs. Leys had slid down the hill so Neha and I tried that. I got down first, next came Neha, she slid down and I caught her at the end, next came Jake and he just jumped down like it was any normal day. Neha and I were so relieved that we made it through alive. That was only the first rock sadly. The next one came a couple metres after the fist one. This one wasn't as easy, we watched to see what Mrs. Leys solution was, but this time, she did was what most of the rest of our class did and that was, trip and fall down, that happened to me, but I was able to regain my balance. Knockin On Heaven's Door Meaning Knockin' On Heaven's Door One of Guns N' Roses popular songs is "Knockin' On Heaven's Door," but what many may not know is that this song was only a cover of the original song written by Bob Dylan. Although the song is comprised of very few lyrics, it has a deep meaning for people. The song was written by Bob Dylan in 1973 for the western film, Pat Garret and Billy The Kid. It is written from the perspective of a dying sheriff (Songfacts). The song reached number 12 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart (Aloisio). After it hit the charts, the song's popularity grew. Many famous artists have covered the song, but another that stands out is the cover sung by Warren Zevon around 2003. While the original and the covers sung by Guns N' Roses and Warren Zevon are similar, the artists all bring their own emotion and meaning to the song. Bob Dylan's version of "Knockin' On Heaven's Door" is number 192 on Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Songs of All Time list (Rolling Stone). It starts off with a series of guitars to set the mood of the song (Dylan). This is not an upbeat song, but a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Warren Zevon seems to have had a more personal meaning of the song due to his battle with lung cancer as he was recording the song for his album. Although Warren Zevon added a few things to his version of the song, his and Bob Dylan's were still very similar. Both portrayed a darkness and sadness to the song which I believe was the intention of the song when it was written by Bob Dylan. Guns N' Roses added a different touch with their unique voices, and rock feel to the music. The energy of the song was more up–beat, and less somber. The band is made up of four members; Tony Perry, Jamie Preciado, Vic and Mike Fuentes. I have seen them a couple of times live and I have met Vic Fuentes twice. I started to listen to them when I was about thirteen and it helped me a lot when I was going through a lot of stuff. It may have seemed like just music to most people but it was a lot more to me and it helped me get through everything. I got tickets to the concert for Christmas and I went with my friend Kassandra. I'd never been to the Aztec arena because I usually go to SOMA. At the arena there is a pit and than seats all around it, I was expecting the pit to be crazy because it was closest to the stage. However, that was not how it was, the pit was really chill and most people were sitting down but in the seats almost everyone was standing up and dancing around. At one point of the concert it got really dark and everyone who was sitting in the stands had their phones out and they were lighting up the room. It was a good experience for my first time seeing them live. The second time I saw Pierce the Veil it was at Warped Tour 2015. I went with my friends Leighanna, Kassandra, Monique, and Matthew. • 23. The Canadian Progressive Rock Band Rush Books, movies, paintings, music, and other types of art are connected in various ways, but one connection seems to stand out. All art mediums are constructed in a way that disallows a median to be reached regarding one's opinion from another. If a group of people favors one thing, another group most likely exists that has the opposite, or conflicting opinion. 2112, read Twenty–one twelve, is a 7–part conceptual album by the Canadian progressive rock band Rush, illustrates this conflict in its main plot. Regardless of its vivid storytelling and impactful instrumentals that glues everything together, it is evident that each listener will break apart in terms of their personal opinions. 2112, much like in Anthem by Ayn Rand, the dystopic idea of equality and how everyone should cherish their unique identities that they possess. The main character, named Anonymous, retaliates against the idea by not conforming to what is expected by the "Priests of the Temples of Syrinx", but the factor driving him ultimately was the will to venture outward and appreciate something that seemingly no one else sees. The conversation between Anonymous, and the priest during "IV. Presentation", separates light from dark. Anonymous, after discovering a guitar that the "Elder race of man" left, speaks out to share his opinions. "I can 't believe you 're saying / These things just can 't be true / Our world could use this beauty / Just think what we might do" (Rush, IV. Presentation). Anonymous ... • 25. The Death Of The Frontier And Progressive Era Essay Ragtime is full with a myriad number of characters, from Harry Houdini to Booker T Washington, but the pivotal characters in my eyes were Mother and Father. There's something to be said when the main characters of a novel don't even have names, unlike the many other minor characters, who were major players in history. What makes them stand out even more is the fact that Mother and Father weren't the only fictional characters, however, they as long as all of the members of their family, including Little Girl who would join Mother's family at the end of the tale, were the only ones who were not named. That's because it's an obvious way for Doctorow to use them as a symbol for the typical middle–class American family during the Progressive Era. However, this is not the only role they had. In addition, the death of the Frontier and the birth of the Progressive Era is shown in Ragtime through the developing relationship between Father and Mother who represent the Frontier and Progressive Era respectively. The relationship they share is a unique one and vital to the image Doctorow is trying to depict, the change occurring in time. There's a reason Father and Mother, a married couple, were used in this way rather than another relationship, and that is because an era does not erratically die, but rather the merging of new and old ideas forms a marriage between the two eras before one is completed. Just like two time periods, Father and Mother change positions. While Father grows ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

By utilizing this idea, the songs produced incorporate elements from jazz, classical, and vary greatly depending on the background of the person. Musical Development From The 50 ' S Musical development from the 50's to the present day 1950's The 1950's was a very important decade in the development of music as it saw the birth of rock n' roll. Their ideology has become part of the vernacular of society, education and politics; influencing all modern presidencies, especially those of Franklin D. Roosevelt, Lyndon B. Johnson, and Barack H. Obama. The desire of progressives was to have an informed, civilized, democratized population, not hindered by corrupt local governments, legislative or judicial branches influenced by special interests or outdated philosophies. The self–serving interests of individuals, individualism, needs to be replaced with needs of the whole, collectivism. From what I learned the facility is fairly new and is located in downtown Oklahoma City. The center treats adults only and has a 16 bed locked co–ed unit which will serve as inpatient treatment, as well as an emergency unit which can keep their patients for up to 24 hours. The Crisis Center helps people in mental illness crises and drug/substance abuse. There are a couple different types of detox that they use for their patients who are coming off of drugs. They usually use a step–down method, in which a nurse would slowly taper the patient off of the abused substance, as well as situational detox. This type is mainly for ... In 2011 I was an involuntary patient at the Oklahoma County Crisis Intervention Center. I stayed a little over a week after a failed suicide attempt. I was the only woman in the unit who was a suicide attempt, and there was only one other man. There were probably 20+ other people who were detoxing from different drugs and substances. I had no knowledge of drug abuse so coming in still drunk and drugged up from the attempt was quite scary, especially because I was the youngest patient they had in the adult unit. The other male suicide attempt was about my age and the only other person that I could relate to at that time, and he would eventually become my boyfriend just a few weeks after we both were discharged. I also got to talk to a lot of other addicts. There was a PCP user, quite a few opioid abusers, and a couple of heroin addicts. I learned a lot about these drugs which I was clueless about before, and it helped me understand what these people were thinking. Being a former patient of the facility will definitely help me in my career field to understand those who are going through crises. Progressive was the first company to offer drive–in claims services, installment payment of premiums, and 24/7 customer service. But some of Progressive 's most innovative moves involve its channels of distribution. Whereas most insurance companies distribute their products to consumers via intermediary agents or direct–to–consumer methods, Progressive was one of the first companies to recognize the value in doing both. In the fashion world, this difference is huge. Zara stores receive new merchandise two to three times each week, whereas most dothing retailers get large shipments on a seasonal basis, four to six times per year. As part of its strategy to introduce more new items with greater frequency, Zara also produces items in smaller batches. Thus, it assumes less risk if an item doesn 't sell well. But smaller batches also means exclusivity, a unique benefit from a massmarket retailer that draws young fashionistas through Zara 's doors like a magnet. When items sell out, they are not restocked with another shipment. Instead, the next Zara shipment contains something new, something different. Popular items can appear and disappear within a week. Consumers know that if they like something, they have to buy it or miss out. Customers are enticed to check out store stock more often, leading to very high levels of repeat patronage. But it also means that Zara doesn 't have to follow the industry pattern of marking products down as the season progresses. A lower classman would remain hidden beyond the horde with her notebook in between her arms. She would give a look of disgrace to the over–filled garbage canisters and the pieces of glass that fought to stay on the remainder of the window frames. He raised an eyebrow. The flow of music suddenly stopped, leaving the atmosphere hushed. • 69. Characteristics And Characteristics Of The Mineral Lazurite There are a myriad of minerals, gemstones, and rocks throughout the world with each having select features and characteristics that differentiate one another. When selecting a mineral to conduct a research report on, one could be drawn to Lazurite for a multitude of factors whether it be the aesthetically pleasing appearance or the various ways it has been incorporated throughout history. Therefore, one can define such a magnificent mineral by characteristics and historical application for which humans have tended to gravitate towards. First and foremost, the mineral Lazurite has many scientifically definable features. For example, in terms of hardness on the Mohs scale, Lazurite falls within the range of 5–5.5 which is about the halfway point between the weakest minerals and the strongest. As for another feature of Lazurite, the color usually falls in an array of blues from light to dark and sometimes green or even violet. When Lazurite is ground into a powder formally known as a streak, it brings forth the true color of the mineral and blue seems to be the case. When referring to the luster, one can define three different characteristics such as a vitreous, greasy, and waxy appearance. The luster is an illumination of the reflected light upon the surface space of the mineral. Therefore in terms of luster, it would be classified as a nonmetallic due to vitreous (glassy) or greasy appearance. According to the article "Guide to Minerals, Rocks, and Fossils," Lapis–Lazuli is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Everything Dali Paints Symbolizes Something Else Essay Dali's Vision The painting "Dream Caused By The Flight Of A Bee Around A Pomegranate A Second Before Awakening" was painted by Dali in 1944. The painting is an oil on canvas painting with a dimension of 51cm x 40.5 cm. Salvador Dali was a prominent Spanish surrealist painter born in Spain. In his masterpiece he uses many different lines and colors to enhance what is going on in the painting. He illustrates a fruit, a fish, tigers, a rifle and a woman wearing no clothes sleeping. With every single object and or living thing shown he is making a statement and everything in the painting itself symbolizes something in the world. The two tigers increase the seriousness of their aggression, while only one does not. Also, the rock is seen frequently throughout the painting, in the far sea beyond both the woman and the wild animals, the cliff, and lastly the flat rock over which the woman is floating. As such, the firmness of the rock is repeated. Moving on the artwork is very metaphorical with the woman representing humanity or more explicitly, innocence and all that is good. The rock that she is floating above represents moral principles. The tigers thinking themselves to be triumphant, over the restful woman without the support of the solid rock. Meanwhile, the antagonism of animals, and more precisely, the dismays of battle are about to descend upon the people like a downpour. The evil and horrors came from the sweet nectar of the pomegranate, which seemed to be so blameless on the outside, but filled with mischievousness and destruction. After all the forbidden fruit was a pomegranate according to what has been said. Similar with the paintings focus is in the bee flying around the smaller pomegranate. This elephant, with its long legs and its great load, characterizes the worldly greed, which also differed from the traditional principles, Its long legs represent its disregard for others, especially those in need, like the woman who is about to be attacked. As a result, the elephant is no better than the tigers about to mangle and kill the woman. Henceforth, Dali's "Caused by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Huck learns many things throughout his journey, but one thing that stuck out to me is the importance of family. Family is a necessity throughout the whole novel of "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn" by Mark Twain. Huck is impacted by his family in different ways throughout the book. First was with the widow when he was first introduced to responsibilities in the family. Then with Pap when he was introduced with the comfort of family. Then he meets Buck and sees his dream life in Buck, and what his "dream family" would look like. Family is important to have in life. • 75. Progressive Rock 1970s Progressive rock of the 1970s and the paradox of "popular serious art" Progressive rock of the 1970s represents a unique moment in the modern music and culture history; moment which introduced an atypical association of the highly sophisticated and complicated means of expression, derived mainly from the area of so–called serious art, with the wide popularity, bordering almost with fashion. American Marxist philosopher and social theorist Bill Martin aptly named this remarkable phenomenon of progressive rock, which was based on the British rock experimentalism of the second half of the sixties and which became a global artistic trend in the following decade, using the paradoxical term "popular avant–garde". The proposed conference contribution will present the issue of progressive rock genre in a synthetic manner and with regard to the mentioned key feature of the juxtaposition of the "serious" and "popular" or "high" and "low" art. • 77. Progressive Rock Research Paper Progressive rock which was first known as progressive pop, later prog rock is a rock subgenre of music that originated in the United Kingdom. It soon later had further developments in Germany, Italy, and France, throughout the mid–to–late 1960s and 1970s. Prog rock developed from psychedelic rock, and originated as an attempt to give greater artistic weight and credibility to rock music. Bands abandoned the short pop single in favor of instrumentation and compositional techniques more frequently associated with jazz or classical music in an effort to give rock music the same level of musical sophistication and critical respect. Progressive rock sometimes abandons the danceable beat that defines earlier rock styles and is more likely to experiment ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
