LESSONS
OF
LEADERSHIP
FOR THE TEACHERS
Aravinda K.
BE, MS (Engg), MTech, (PhD)

June 2018
IF YOU KEEP DOING WHATEVER YOU HAVE
BEEN DOING, YOU WILL KEEP GETTING
WHATEVER YOU HAVE BEEN GETTING.
IF YOU KEEP DOING WHATEVER OTHERS
ARE DOING, YOU WILL KEEP GETTING
WHATEVER OTHERS ARE GETTING.
A GREAT TEACHER INSPIRES.
A GOOD TEACHER INSTILS.
AN AVERAGE TEACHER EXPLAINS.
A POOR TEACHER COMPLAINS.
ANYTHING WORTH DOING
IS
WORTH DOING WELL
IT IS NOT SENIORITY THAT DEFINES A PROFESSION;
IT IS SINCERITY THAT DEFINES A PROFESSIONAL.
WHATEVER QUALITIES THAT
YOU EXPECT IN STUDENTS,
- ENSURE AT FIRST THAT -
YOU HAVE THOSE QUALITIES
WITHIN YOU.
IF YOU DON’T HAVE THEM,
THEN DEVELOP THEM.
EACH BRANCH OF ENGINEERING HAS
ITS OWN CULTURE.
ECE IS DIFFERENT FROM ALL OTHER
BRANCHES.
Electronics: Devices and circuits
are not visible.
Communication: Audio & radio signals
are not visible.
IN OUTCOME BASED EDUCATION,
STUDENT’S PERFORMANCE
IS MEASURED.
IN THE PRESENT AICTE PAYSCALE,
PROFESSOR’S PERFORMANCE
IS MEASURED.

STUDENTS THINK THAT THE SYSTEM
BELONGS TO THEM.
TEACHERS THINK THAT THE SYSTEM
BELONGS TO THEM.
ADMINISTRATORS THINK THAT THE
SYSTEM BELONGS TO THEM.
IN REALITY, SYSTEM BELONGS TO
WHOM?
IF THE STUDENT SUCCEEDS, STUDENT GETS APPRECIATED.
IF THE STUDENT FAILS, TEACHER GETS BLAMED.

Show-off
always
IF YOUR STUDENT-FEEDBACK IS BELOW
AVERAGE, THEN THE SYSTEM SUSPECTS
YOUR PERFORMANCE.
IF YOUR STUDENT-FEEDBACK IS ABOVE
EXCELLENCE, THEN THE SYSTEM SUSPECTS
YOUR FOULPLAY.
NO ONE IS BORN AS PERFECT.
BUT NO ONE CAN CHOOSE TO
REMAIN AS IMPERFECT.
KNOWLEDGE IS MY GOD.
CLASSROOM IS MY TEMPLE.
WORK IS MY WORSHIP.
My advice to students
• I work hard for earning my salary;
you work hard for earning your marks.
• If I am too much strict, you will not talk;
if I am too much lenient, I cannot talk.
• You don’t have to give respect to me;
I have it for myself; you have it for yourself.
• I am paid to talk, and you are paying to listen;
I am at your service; allow me to serve you better.
• Study well for 4 years, and enjoy the next 40 years;
or, enjoy the 4 years and suffer in the next 40 years.
• It is easy, to be abnormal among the normal;
it is difficult, to be extraordinary among the ordinary.
WE ALREADY HAVE A SYSTEM IN
PLACE, AND HENCE YOU NEED NOT
CREATE ONE.
JUST ADAPT TO THE EXISTING
SYSTEM.
THE SYSTEM WILL REFINE ITSELF,
AS A CONTINUOUS PROCESS.
SOLUTIONS CAN BE FOUND FOR
PROBLEMS THAT OCCUR.
SOLUTIONS CANNOT BE FOUND
FOR PROBLEMS THAT ARE CREATED.
THE ONLY SOLUTION IS TO
ELIMINATE PROBLEM CREATORS
FROM THE SYSTEM.
IF YOU KEEP DOING THE RIGHT
THINGS, NO ONE WILL HARM YOU.
IF YOU KEEP DOING THE WRONG
THINGS, NO ONE WILL SAVE YOU.
- SYNDROMES –
1. OSTRICH SYNDROME
2. MALE DOCTOR SYNDROME
3. TERRORIST SYNDROME
4. JAUNDICE SYNDROME
THERE WILL ALWAYS BE SUBGROUPS
WITHIN THE MAIN GROUP, BASED ON
LANGUAGE, CASTE, RELIGION ETC.
BUT THESE SUBGROUPS HAVE TO BE
SUBSETS OF THE MAIN GROUP.
IF THEY REMAIN ISOLATED, THEN THEY
WILL BECOME DISINTEGRATED.
AT TIMES,
MENTIONING
A MISTAKE,
AS A MISTAKE,
IS A MISTAKE.
DURING PROBATION:
UNDERSTAND THE ORGANIZATION.
AFTER CONFIRMATION:
RESPECT THE ORGANIZATION.
YOUNG AGE
CRISIS
MIDDLE AGE
CRISIS
OLD AGE
CRISIS
I have to understand
the social system
I have to change the
social system
I have to live in my
own system
I do not understand
others
Others do not
understand me
I do not understand
myself
What becomes of
me?
What is becoming of
me?
What has become of
me?
I want to be with my
family
I want to be with my
friends
I want to be with
myself
AT TIMES, WHAT YOUR BOSS THINKS ABOUT YOU
IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN WHAT YOUR
SUBORDINATE THINKS ABOUT YOU.
AT TIMES, WHAT YOUR SUBORDINATE THINKS
ABOUT YOU IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN WHAT
YOUR BOSS THINKS ABOUT YOU.
ALL THE TIMES, WHAT YOU THINK ABOUT
YOURSELF IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN WHAT
OTHERS THINK ABOUT YOU.
KINDNESS IS OFTEN
MISTAKEN AS WEAKNESS.
WE CANNOT BE KIND TO EVERYONE,
AND AT THE SAME TIME,
WE CANNOT BE CRUEL TO EVERYONE.
BY DOING SOMETHING GOOD,
IF SOMETHING BAD HAPPENS,
AND IF THE EFFECT OF BAD IS MORE THAN THE
EFFECT OF GOOD,
THEN IT IS BETTER
NOT TO DO THAT GOOD THING.
4 METHODS OF RAJANEETHI
SAMA: ADVICE/SUGGESTION
DANA: OFFERING/COMPENSATION
BHEDA: EXPLOITATION
DANDA: PUNISHMENT
DEMOCRACY VERSUS AUTOCRACY
Example: Krishna & Duryodhana
1. To return Indraprastha
2. To offer 5 villages
3. Meeting with Karna
4. Declaring war
BODY = Birth Of Divine You
SOUL = Source Of Unconditional Love
MIND = Move Inward Now Discover
Type of health Its purpose Its outcome
Physical health Working ability Easeful body
Mental health Pure memory Peaceful mind
Spiritual health Self realization Useful soul
LIFE = Living In Further Evolution
The first five
are physical
evolution;
the next five
are mental
evolution.
Moreover,
Buddha is not
a mere name;
it is indicative
of a position.
IN GENERAL,
MOST OF THE PEOPLE
ARE NEITHER GOOD NOR BAD.
THEY ALL BEHAVE
AS PER THE SITUATION.
REAL GOOD PEOPLE
WILL REMAIN GOOD ALWAYS.
REAL BAD PEOPLE
WILL REMAIN BAD ALWAYS.
MAJORITY OF THE PEOPLE ON THIS
WORLD ARE THE VICTIMS OF
SOCIAL CONDITIONING
IN ONE WAY OR THE OTHER.
THEY LIVE FOR SATISFYING THE EGO,
(EITHER THEIRS OR THAT OF OTHERS)
AND NOT FOR GRATIFYING THE SELF.
THE SIX ENEMIES MEANING
KAMA LUST
KRODHA WRATH
LOBHA GREED
MOHA INFATUATION
MADA VANITY
MATHSARA JEALOUSY
THE EIGHT ARROGANCES MEANING
DHANAMADA ARROGANCE OF MONEY
VIDYAMADA ARROGANCE OF KNOWLEDGE
KULAMADA ARROGANCE OF CASTE
ROOPAMADA ARROGANCE OF APPEARANCE
YOUVANAMADA ARROGANCE OF YOUTH
BALAMADA ARROGANCE OF STRENGTH
PARIVARAMADA ARROGANCE OF FAMILY
ADHIKARAMADA ARROGANCE OF POSITION
WHY ARROGANCE INCREASES
WITH EVERY YEAR OF EXPERIENCE?
IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE REDUCED
WITH EXPERIENCE BECAUSE,
THE MORE WE KNOW,
THE MORE WE COME TO KNOW
THAT WE DO NOT KNOW.
CONFIDENCE VERSUS ARROGANCE

80% OF PEOPLE ARE GOOD,
20% OF PEOPLE ARE BAD.
80% OF PROBLEMS ARE CREATED

THE REASONS FOR IGNORANCE
• FORM AND NAME ARE PROVIDED ONLY TO THE BODY,
BY NATURE AND BY PARENTS, RESPECTIVELY.
• BUT EGO IDENTIFIES ITSELF WITH THE FORM AND
NAME, WHICH IS DUE TO NATURAL MAYA.
• IN ITS NORMAL COURSE OF LIFE, THE EGO DOES NOT
PUT EFFORTS TO UNDERSTAND ITS TRUE NATURE.
• THIS IS DUE TO MENTAL CONDITIONING, WHICH IS
DUE TO SOCIAL MAYA.
AT THE LEVELS OF HUMAN CELLS,
THE VITAMINS ARE A,B,C,D,E AND K.
AT THE LEVELS OF HUMAN MINDS,
THE VITAMINS ARE J AND M.
God created Maya with a divine purpose.
Man started Maya with a mundane purpose.
God’s Maya is the love towards people
(emotions: children, parents, relatives).
Man’s Maya is the love towards things
(thoughts: wealth, status, power).

AT TIMES, WHATEVER I TELL DIRECTLY,
IS UNDERSTOOD BY DIFFERENT PEOPLE
DIFFERENTLY.
THIS MEANS THAT, PEOPLE TRY TO
UNDERSTAND THE FACTS AS PER THEIR
LIKING OR DISLIKING.
THIS IS AGAINST THE SPIRIT OF THE
THE TEAM AND THE TRAINING.

YOU CAN JUDGE OTHERS ONLY AFTER YOU
HAVE FINISHED JUDGING YOURSELF.
IF YOU ARE UNSURE OF THE SECOND,
THEN DON’T GET INVOLVED IN THE FIRST.
LAW OF KARMA
WHEN THE BODY DIES, NOTHING CAN
BE TAKEN ALONG, AND HENCE, YOU
NEED NOT TAKE THIS LIFE VERY
SERIOUSLY.
WHEN THE BODY DIES, THE IMPRINTS
OF ACTIONS REMAIN, AND HENCE, YOU
HAVE TO TAKE THIS LIFE VERY
SERIOUSLY.

THE CONSCIOUSNESS BECOMES ENERGY,
AND HENCE THE CAUSATION CAUSES
SPACE AND TIME SIMULTANEOUSLY.
IN DIFFERENT FREQUENCIES,
IT BECOMES DIFFERENT TYPES OF MATTER,
FINALLY GIVING RISE TO DIFFERENT VARIETIES OF ORGANISMS –
AVIDYA : NOT KNOWING WHAT IS TO BE REALLY KNOWN.
ADHYASA : MISTAKING THE KNOWN ONE AS THE REAL ONE.
UPADHI : TREATING THE HIGHER ONE AT THE LOWER LEVEL.
0-sensed cells, 1-sensed plants, 2-sensed worms, 3-sensed
fishes, 4-sensed insects & snakes, 5-sensed reptiles & birds &

Dashapadee, Ashtapadee, Shatpadee, Chathushpadee, Dwipadee.
MANY TIMES, WHEN I TRY TO TELL SOME
GOOD THINGS, PEOPLE INTERRUPT MY
SPEECH WITH THEIR TALKS, AND I END UP
BECOMING SILENT.
DEFINITELY, I AM NOT THE LOSER.
WE HAVE TWO EARS AND ONE MOUTH.
THIS MEANS THAT WE HAVE TO LISTEN
FOR DOUBLE AMOUNT THAN
THAT WHICH WE TALK.

  • 1. LESSONS OF LEADERSHIP FOR THE TEACHERS Aravinda K. BE, MS (Engg), MTech, (PhD) Samskrtha Kovida, Geetha Kovida June 2018
  • 2. IF YOU KEEP DOING WHATEVER YOU HAVE BEEN DOING, YOU WILL KEEP GETTING WHATEVER YOU HAVE BEEN GETTING. IF YOU KEEP DOING WHATEVER OTHERS ARE DOING, YOU WILL KEEP GETTING WHATEVER OTHERS ARE GETTING.
  • 3.
  • 4. A GREAT TEACHER INSPIRES. A GOOD TEACHER INSTILS. AN AVERAGE TEACHER EXPLAINS. A POOR TEACHER COMPLAINS. ANYTHING WORTH DOING IS WORTH DOING WELL IT IS NOT SENIORITY THAT DEFINES A PROFESSION; IT IS SINCERITY THAT DEFINES A PROFESSIONAL.
  • 5. WHATEVER QUALITIES THAT YOU EXPECT IN STUDENTS, - ENSURE AT FIRST THAT - YOU HAVE THOSE QUALITIES WITHIN YOU. IF YOU DON’T HAVE THEM, THEN DEVELOP THEM.
  • 6. EACH BRANCH OF ENGINEERING HAS ITS OWN CULTURE. ECE IS DIFFERENT FROM ALL OTHER BRANCHES. Electronics: Devices and circuits are not visible. Communication: Audio & radio signals are not visible.
  • 7. IN OUTCOME BASED EDUCATION, STUDENT’S PERFORMANCE IS MEASURED. IN THE PRESENT AICTE PAYSCALE, PROFESSOR’S PERFORMANCE IS MEASURED.

  • 11. STUDENTS THINK THAT THE SYSTEM BELONGS TO THEM. TEACHERS THINK THAT THE SYSTEM BELONGS TO THEM. ADMINISTRATORS THINK THAT THE SYSTEM BELONGS TO THEM. IN REALITY, SYSTEM BELONGS TO WHOM?
  • 12. IF THE STUDENT SUCCEEDS, STUDENT GETS APPRECIATED. IF THE STUDENT FAILS, TEACHER GETS BLAMED.
  • 13. TEACHERS STUDENTS With less knowledge With more knowledge With less knowledge Troubling each other Teaching- learning With more knowledge Classroom is Marketplace Show-off always
  • 14. IF YOUR STUDENT-FEEDBACK IS BELOW AVERAGE, THEN THE SYSTEM SUSPECTS YOUR PERFORMANCE. IF YOUR STUDENT-FEEDBACK IS ABOVE EXCELLENCE, THEN THE SYSTEM SUSPECTS YOUR FOULPLAY. NO ONE IS BORN AS PERFECT. BUT NO ONE CAN CHOOSE TO REMAIN AS IMPERFECT.
  • 15. KNOWLEDGE IS MY GOD. CLASSROOM IS MY TEMPLE. WORK IS MY WORSHIP.
  • 16. My advice to students • I work hard for earning my salary; you work hard for earning your marks. • If I am too much strict, you will not talk; if I am too much lenient, I cannot talk. • You don’t have to give respect to me; I have it for myself; you have it for yourself. • I am paid to talk, and you are paying to listen; I am at your service; allow me to serve you better. • Study well for 4 years, and enjoy the next 40 years; or, enjoy the 4 years and suffer in the next 40 years. • It is easy, to be abnormal among the normal; it is difficult, to be extraordinary among the ordinary.
  • 17. WE ALREADY HAVE A SYSTEM IN PLACE, AND HENCE YOU NEED NOT CREATE ONE. JUST ADAPT TO THE EXISTING SYSTEM. THE SYSTEM WILL REFINE ITSELF, AS A CONTINUOUS PROCESS.
  • 18. SOLUTIONS CAN BE FOUND FOR PROBLEMS THAT OCCUR. SOLUTIONS CANNOT BE FOUND FOR PROBLEMS THAT ARE CREATED. THE ONLY SOLUTION IS TO ELIMINATE PROBLEM CREATORS FROM THE SYSTEM.

ALL THE TIMES, WHAT YOU THINK ABOUT YOURSELF IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN WHAT OTHERS THINK ABOUT YOU.
  • 25. KINDNESS IS OFTEN MISTAKEN AS WEAKNESS. WE CANNOT BE KIND TO EVERYONE, AND AT THE SAME TIME, WE CANNOT BE CRUEL TO EVERYONE. BY DOING SOMETHING GOOD, IF SOMETHING BAD HAPPENS, AND IF THE EFFECT OF BAD IS MORE THAN THE EFFECT OF GOOD, THEN IT IS BETTER NOT TO DO THAT GOOD THING.
