Analysis of a Large Company
Bauer
Bauer Media is known for being Europe's most large publishing group. It is known for being the
big coorperation behind magazines such as 'Kerrang'. It's headquarters can be found in
Germany, whilst producing over 300 magazines to 15 countries worldwide. The magazine
company creates over 38 million issues of magazines per week. It was founded in 1953 as just a
small company which has now transformed into a multi-million dollar company.
The most successful member to come out of the Bauer family, is the music magazine Kerrang.
This is a well-known rock magazine which specializes in informing teenagers the latest new
about their favourite rock bands. Popular bands such as Bring Me The Horizon, Limp Bizkit and
Black Sabbath have all featured on the front covers of this worl famous magzine. It's target
audience would be teenagers who are interested in the latest news about bands and also maybe
for young adults who are still in their 'angsty teenage' ways.
Future
This multi-million company specializes in creating magazines spanning from video games,
technology, photography and many more. Chris Anderson who founded Future, made the
magazine the first magazine to ever feature free software on a magazine cover. The company
was sold in 1994 for £52.7 Million before being bought back in 1998 for £142 Million. Anderson
left Future in 2001. Examples of their publications include Nintendo, Xbox, Playstation and
Steam.
Future Music focuses on music production, sharing its audiences the latest technology and
technique in making music. Rather than focusing on the interests of people who want to find
out the latest news and gossip on their favourite bands, this magazine is more for people who
like to know the science and the technology behind creating the music. This plays a factor as to
why Future Music focuses on the EDM genre, instead of other genres as there is a more
technological element to it.
