The publishing industry is the process
that manufactures literature spread on
non fiction for e.g. music, fashion and
current affairs. Publishing is made up of
a diverse group of industries including
books, journal, newspaper, etc.

• The Publishing industry generates a turnover in the region of £10.1
billion GVA (Gross Value Added) and is one of the biggest earners
and exporters for the UK Creative Media Industries.
• The publishing industries alone employs on average over 195,000
workers, presently approximately 36% of the media workforce

• Heat is a British entertainment magazine published by German company Bauer
Media Group. As of 2004 it is one of the biggest selling magazines in the UK, with
a regular circulation over half a million. Its mix of celebrity news, gossip, beauty
advice and fashion is primarily aimed at women, although not as directly as in
other women's magazines. It also features movie and music reviews, TV listings
and major celebrity interviews.
• On 3 July 2012, Heat launched, featuring celebrity news and music. The channel
comes from Box Television, a joint venture between Bauer and Channel Four. It

• Vogue is an American fashion and lifestyle magazine that is
published monthly in 23 national and regional editions by Condé
Nast. Vogue means "in style" in French. Vogue is private sector
magazine.
5. Ownerships
• Heat- is owned by German company Bauer Media Group. Bauer
Media Group is a multinational media company headquartered in
Hamburg, Germany which operates in 16 countries worldwide.
• Vogue- Condé Montrose Nast bought "Vogue" in 1905 several years
before Tenure's death and slowly grew its publication. He changed
it to a bi-weekly magazine and also started Vogue overseas starting
in the 1910s. He first went to Britain in 1916, and started a Vogue
there, then to Spain, and then to Italy and France in 1920, where it
was a huge success.
6. Advantages/disadvantages of publishing
• Advantage-People can get all the information they want
immediately from the apps on a smartphone. They will get more
information on the app rather than the magazine
• Disadvantage-No buyers for magazine, cause everyone would use
the app which can lead to the publishing industry to fall apart.
7. Linked to industries
• Photo imaging- theirs images use in the magazine to show proof, or
either to make the magazine more interesting for the viewers
• Advertising and marketing- they use adverts in the magazine to
adverts things such as products etc.
