I Have Made Decisions After Decisions
I have made decisions after decisions that will lead me to success in 5 years. By allowing myself to focus on my future wasn't as hard as I thought.
Your present is as important as your future because we all want to accomplish and experience each moment in our lives, but we need to realize
everything we go through in our life time leads to a purpose in the future. Although I'm not satisfied with the decisions I have been making, in five
years, I will have a better health; better attitude toured myself, better education, and being more independent. Although I have been running for most of
my life; it has made me feel accomplished and willing to realize how great my future lifestyle will be. I will be ready for the next obstacle course that
will be heading my way in my future. Running each day has changed my life extremely. Running is a good stress reliever. I have found it has been
very difficult to combine school and work together. It is very important to be focused on school and work combined. I have noticed how difficult it
has been to just sitting down and work on homework because I recently have been in a moment in my life where it seemed like I wasn't able to focus
on my school work. I tried to work with my teachers one on one to try to work to increase my grade, but it seemed like putting in the effort for the
assignment wasn't even worth it. I have been stressed out so much that I almost thought about giving up on this semester. I haven't really ever given up

Living Like Weasels Rhetorical Analysis
Living Like Weasels Rhetorical Analysis In her essay "Living Like Weasels", Annie Dillard explores the idea of following a single calling in life,
and attaching one's self it this calling as the weasel on Ernest Thompson Seton's eagle had. Dillard presents her argument using the analogy of a
weasel and how the; "weasel lives as he's meant to, yielding at every moment to the perfect freedom of single necessity" (Dillard). In constructing her
argument, however, she often contradicts herself undermining the effectiveness of her argument and leaving the reader confused. Dillard primarily
uses ethos and pathos to support her argument and concerning both, the reader discovers; inconsistencies in her character, and conflicts between her
perceptions of the weasel's emotions and its actions. Concerning her ethos, Dillard presents herself as a part of suburbia and then is suddenly,
inexplicably overcome by the desire to live wild. Dillard also uses very detailed language throughout the essay in describing her surroundings and
thoughts, however; this further undermines her argument and ethos as she is trying to convince the reader that she could simply become as simple
and single minded as the weasel she has focused her argument around. With her use of pathos, Dillard begins her essay with descriptions of the
weasel's brutality, yet; she concludes by stating the weasel lives as is necessary. By simplifying her experience and presenting a reasonable explanation
for why she wanted to

Essay about Hotel California: The Californian Lifestyle
"Hotel California" by The Eagles has been the recipient of much speculation since its release in 1976. Although many other interpretations exist
including some which claim this song to be referencing drugs, much evidence suggests that "Hotel California" is, at least partly, making a statement
about the lifestyle of drug and alcohol users particularly in the large cities of California. As with many songs, duality of meaning exists in "Hotel
California."
Since "Hotel California" debuted in the seventies, one can understand why the topic would be Californian drug–using lifestyle. "The scare tactics of the
1960s gave way to the contradictory messages of the late '70s and early '80s. Drugs became glamorous, without becoming better understood" ... Show

After examining the whole song, one can guess that the song makes the claim that marijuana is a drug that allows easy passage to worse drugs.
According to "a 1969 Gallup poll, only 4% of American adults said they had tried marijuana. Thirty–four percent said they didn't know the effects of
marijuana, but 43% thought it was used by many or some high school kids" (Robison); therefore, many individuals might not understand that
marijuana, as many claim today, leads to usage of more harmful substances. The speaker then sees a shimmering light as if he is about to die which
signifies the death of an old life and the birth of a new one. The temptation of drugs becomes too strong, so the speaker has to stop at the Hotel
California. The mission bell that sounds contrasts so with the topic of this song that the bell must symbolize the perversion of life by the drug–use in
California and elsewhere. "This could be Heaven or this could be Hell," furthers the idea of the death of an old life. Here, the speaker does not
really know whether or not his or her new life is going to be enjoyable in the end. As it turns out, the speaker's new life is hell. Then she lights up a
candle, or perhaps a joint since the place most likely has electricity in the seventies, and shows the speaker the way. Perhaps the woman is a
drug–dealer or a prostitute; ether one could lead a person to a lifestyle full of drugs and alcohol.
"Her mind is Tiffany–twisted, she got the Mercedes bends," (The Eagles)

Summary Of Alice Walker's Two Ways To Belong In America
Home is Where The Heart Is Is it better to settle with what you already have and know or branch out and strive for comfort elsewhere? This is the
ongoing debate between sisters, Dee (Wangero) and Maggie in Alice Walker's "Everyday Use" and sisters Bharati and Mira in Bharati
Mukherjee's "Two Ways to Belong in America". In "Everyday Use" Maggie is a soft spoken homebody who has never found interest in straying
from her mother while Dee on the other hand has moved on in life and uses her past as an image to prove how far she has made it in life, she even
changed her birth name to cut all ties with her past. In "Two Ways to Belong in America" Bharati and Mira are Indian immigrants who both came to
America with intentions of keeping their Indian heritage, but over time Bharati faded from her culture while Mira kept true. Although Maggie and
Mira decided to stick to their roots, Dee and Bharati chose to immerse themselves in a new culture. Maggie in "Everyday Use" and Mira in "Two
Ways to Belong in America" both chose to never stray from their traditions. This is displayed through Maggie because she lives at home with her
mother and will marry a small town boy with a similar lifestyle to hers, "She will marry John Thomas (who has mossy teeth in an earnest face)"
(Walker para. 13). The same goes for Mira because she chose to marry an Indian man in America, "Mira married an Indian student in 1962"
(Mukherjee para. 4) and she also never fully became an American citizen, "I am an

Adler 's Individual Psychology : A Good Representation Of...
Adler's Individual Psychology provides a good representation of the struggles of Sussana Kaysen with depression and feelings of loneliness. In Adler's
view of human nature people are the product of more than just what Freud said about genetics and their environment. They are a product of
understanding of their abilities and the life choices that they make. It is a holistic view of the individual that matters the most – their thinking, feeling
and acting. Adler stresses the idea that we are shaped by our perceptions and the goals that we strive to achieve. Beginning early in life, we imagine
our ideal self and try to accomplish this. In the case of Sussana, she knew she wanted to write. Despite the fact that women in the 1960s had very ...

This only increased her desire to gain autonomy. Additionally, family values and atmosphere play at important role in a child's upbringing.
Sussana's parents have always rejected her way of life and this may have instigated her anxious and isolated feelings. For instance, Sussana sees
her mother as an object who performs the tasks forcefully as they are expected by the society. This has set an example for Sussana as she decides
'she does not want to end up like her mother.' Her goal in life is that people are worthless and do not accept me for who I am, therefore I must do
what I like in this lonely world. In this way, Sussana appears to have established a lifestyle and goal that is a reflection of how she was treated in her
early childhood years. Furthermore, Sussana seems to have been repressed through overly strict and disciplinary environments and this might have
developed a drive in her to gain freedom. These early experiences may have resulted in a view of the world as a lonely and worthless place.
Sussana grew up in an environment where, as a woman, she was expected to pay a bigger role in society. Sussana, on the other hand, had no interest in
family dinners and events and seemed to turn inward. It appears as if she lacked the energy and motivation to interact with others. However, lately
Sussana has been interacting with the other

My Family Experience
I grew up in a small family in India. There are a lot of things that I can learn from my family. I wouldn't be here without my family. Most important
thing in the world is family. The family is the place where you can learn and express what you learn. I'm grateful for my family. But I remember
one day my parents told me that we are going to America, the land of dreams. I was thirteen years old. All those years I lived in my own country,
and now I'm moving to America. When my parents gave me the shocking news I couldn't stop thinking about the way of life in America. I never
stopped to think about the people I was leaving behind my cousins, grandparents and the only life I had ever known. Days went by, and here we are at
the JFK airport. Amidst all the sadness, and fear of my lifestyle I couldn't feel the excitement. I admit that it was difficult at the beginning. But then it
became easy. There is always happy after the bitterness. Now I'm excited to show people and tell them that how important afamily is and it is eternal.
From the time, I started to speak and till now my family is a school and a university for me. Because I learned plenty lessons from my family
throughout their action and their words. Holy Family University states, "Holy Family University welcomes and cares for students, faculty, and stuff as
members of a diverse but interconnected family." I understand how important is a family for me but there are people who don't want a family or never

The Experimental Life Analysis
The essays The Strenuous Life by Theodore Roosevelt and The Experimental Life by Randolph Bourne present conflicting views on the ideal
lifestyle. Roosevelt suggests that the only acceptable life is one that involves progress through struggle and perseverance while Bourne claims that
because life is filled with uncertainty it is best to prepare and embrace it. While Roosevelt's and Bourne's arguments greatly differ from each other,
both offer valid pieces of advice on how to live a more ideal lifestyle. Roosevelt's essay addressed the working class of America and the respect that he
had for them. He stated that he wanted "to preach the highest form of success which comes not to the man who desires mere easy peace, but to the

Similarities can be drawn between the themes of Roosevelt's essay and the subtext of Jack London's The Story of Jees Uck. Both of the pieces of
writing display a sense of superiority and nationalism when comparing America to other countries or territories. London does this when contrasting
the primitive characteristics of Jees Uck to the advanced nature of Neil Bonner. London then goes on to describe Jees Uck as stunned and in awe of
America's advanced civilization. Roosevelt displays a similar idea in his essay when describing how to properly spread their influence to countries like
the Philippines, he states "The first and all–important work to be done is to establish the supremacy of our flag (Roosevelt, 6)." He goes on to

Becoming A Leading Woman
Is it possible to become a leading women in society, make my parents proud, and set an example for my siblings without speaking my mind? My
great difficulty to speak up all began at the young age of nine in the fourth grade. Mrs. Stal, a very strict and loud middle aged private school
teacher, had diminished my self confidence in the classroom by constantly telling me to be quiet. This had later on affected by ability to speak up,
bringing me to where I am now, a girl who can talk your ears off, but could never speak up for herself once faced against authority. The solution to my
problem consist of learning to speak my mind even when faced against threatening authority.
Being a social butterfly with the difficulty to speak her mind may seem contradictory, however the causes of past experience provide evidence.
Main causes for self struggles include my upbringing and insecurities. My upbringing from a Hispanic household had influenced my understanding
of adults to be respected and not to question their authority. What my parents said was law, no questions about it. Respect slowly turned to fear as I
grew older due to consequences and punishments I received. My insecurities slowly conquered my thoughts at the age of 10, preventing me from
speaking to any adult. I felt as if everything I said or did was incorrect, triggering my silence inside and outside the classroom. My silence slowly
spiraled my life downwards causing my fear of authority to follow me from middle

Aristotle 's Views On Teachings And Beliefs Of Philosophy
Epicurus is a well–known ancient Greek philosopher who has had a remarkable impact on teachings and beliefs of Philosophy. His goal was to
teach all people to find happiness by following his way of life. To this day, there are still many that follow the beliefs of Epicurus. I see some of his
beliefs positively and others seem unnecessary.
Epicurus did not believe in the supernatural. His beliefs were more about physics, logic, and ethics. To him everything experienced in life happens
naturally. The supernatural beliefs that people have are built on fear of dying and what happens in the afterlife. To Epicurus, this was no way to lead a
happy life. Nothing is felt after death; therefore, there should be nothing to fear (Stace).
Hedonism was an important part of Epicurus beliefs. Hedonism is easily described as the pursuit of pleasure. Epicurus believed that the goal in life
should be to seek pleasure and avoid pain. Epicurus understood hedonism as pleasure being the first priority of life but believed that pleasure should
be obtained in a sensible manner ("Hedonism"). The hedonistic beliefs of Epicurus tend to fall on the side of psychology as well as philosophy.
People begin to seek pleasure and avoid pain unknowingly as an infant. As we grow into adults looking for ultimate happiness, seeking pleasure is just
not as easy with all the curve balls that are thrown in life (O 'Keefe).
Epicurus thought it is necessary to try to avoid pain but to do that we

Differences In Living A Conventional Life In Housekeeping...
There are two primary classifications of lives one can live: conventionalists and drifters. Most Americans fall into the conventional way of living. In
Marilynne Robinson's novel Housekeeping, Robinson uses the different character development to contrast differences in living a conventional lifestyle
versus living an eccentric lifestyle as a "drifter", such as events like when the sisters first meet Sylvie and when Lucille leaves to go live with Miss
Royce.
Soon after Ruth and Lucille were born, there father abandoned them. While living with their mother in Seattle, Bernice, their neighbor below them
in their apartment, looked after them, even though Helen was perfectly able to. A few years after the abandonment, Helen, Ruth and Lucille's
mother, drops the girls off at Sylvia, the girl's grandmother's house, then drives off cliff into a lake and drowns. Sylvia takes care of Lucille and
Ruth for five years until she passes away from an unknown illness. When Grandmother Sylvia dies, Lily and Nona, Sylvia's unmarried sisters, take
care of the girls for a while, then quickly fetch for Aunt Sylvie, who takes care of the girls for the duration of the rest of their adolescent years.
First, Lucille and Ruth immediately recognizes Sylvie's transience. "We had planned to try Sylvie, but perhaps because Sylvie had her coat on and
appeared so very transient, Lucille did not wait till we knew her better, as we had agreed to do" (Robinson 55). Typically, people have their coat on

David Brooks 's Our Sprawling Supersize Utopia
David Berreby who is known as the author of "It Takes a Tribe," was born in France in 1958. He was raised by an American mother and a Jewish
father. Berreby talks about the lifestyle of being a college student in gaining a respectable position in the hierarchy of a college tradition within the
club membership. David Berrebys' analysis of 'us' v's 'them' brings an impact to all the students because they feel like they need to find or join a
group in which they belong to. As for David Brooks, the author of "Our Sprawling Supersize Utopia" who was born in Toronto, Ontario. Brooks
was born and raised by his American citizen father in Canada. He made a claim on how suburbs were sprawling and the lifestyles in this society
are becoming complex for those people who desire to expand their way of adapting and living in the different environment. Both authors have the
same similarities for advancing in a new way of living and as a group, people should be addressed in fitting in a particular social society. As a
human being, our ability to consider something is extraordinary due to our needs and wants. "Once people see that they 've been divided into
groups, they 'll act accordingly, even if they know that the divisions are as meaningless" (Berreby 10). Is it necessary for us to divide ourselves
according to who is better and not? The group of people are frightened to speak on their own behalf and appoint an opinion, due to the fact that other

The Importance Of Imperialism In Shakespeare's The Tempest
When a person takes a ball of red play–doh and smashes it together with a second ball of blue play–do, it creates purple. Can the two colors ever go
back to their original state of being just red, and just blue? When two colors are mixed, the action can never be undone, therefore, they can never return
to the natural and pure versions of themselves that they once were . Due to imperialism, when you emerge one culture with another for even a small
period of time, the original residents are permanently permeated with the new culture, an action that can never be reversed. In a sense, once a pure and
natural civilization is infused with another lifestyle, the effects, no matter how small, will leave the native civilization changed. Montaigne deduces that
there is a natural untouched form of nature and a new nature, that is essentially impure. Impure in the sense that society has fallen out of step with the
natural way of life, to create their own rules, and own way of living. Shakespeare agrees with Montaigne when it comes to imperialism and ruining the
pure state of innocence, and his agreement is shown through his play, The Tempest.
The Renaissance philosopher, Montaigne, insists through his essay, " Of Cannibals", that society today has corrupted mother nature, and taken away
her purity by turning away from the natural order to make their own set of rules, and execute their own way of living. Civilizations were once born
through nature, thus they lived by nature. In the

Blow Movie Psychology
Based on a true story, Blow tells the story of the main character George Jung. George became one of the largest if not the largest cocaine trafficker
in the United States, because of the trafficking of Pablo Escobar`s cocaine, it changed the face of America in the 1970s. Being business partners
with Pablo Escobar, George was never in short supply of the cocaine he was trafficking. As I watched the movie and observed George`s addictive
behavior, I realized that it started as a child and the first obsession came in the form of money. George's parents were not wealthy and always fought

George's manifestation of the disease of money and power was visible through his addiction to cocaine and drugs, the drugs and drinking were just a
symptom of George's disease. George was married and as a result of his chemical addiction and way of life a baby girl was a direct result of that
marriage, according to George in the movie; it was the birth of his baby girl that would change George's life. Gorge now wanted to clean up his life,
stop trafficking cocaine and take care of his family, as fate and thelifestyle would have it George went back to prison for having one last party put on
by his wife, in which all the current drug dealers were invited. Gorge`s release from prison put George into an area that he was not used to, George
had no money and George was broke. George made a promise to his daughter earlier that he would never leave her but after going back to prison he
broke the trust he once had with her, after his release he spent a great deal of his time trying to amend that trust and build his relationship back with
his daughter. However, this was to no avail because George relapsed, George did not relapsed to the chemical addiction but to the addition of
inappropriate behavior. What I have learned from this movie is that enough is never enough, George had the wealth and the power of the underworld
however, and it was this lifestyle that brought George to the end

The Namesake Character Analysis
In The Namesake, the central character, Gogol, grows up in a unique situation: he was born to Bengali parents but grows up in America, and
throughout the story, Gogol has to gradually find his place in the world. As Gogol grows up, his struggle to find his true home reflects his struggle to
find his identity and sense of self. He is torn between the Indian culture of his parents and the American lifestyle he grows up with, being a part of both
but never feeling quite at home in either of them. His definition of home changes dramatically throughout his struggles and life experiences, but he
eventually comes into his own as an Indian–American man and finds his place in the world.
As a very young boy, Gogol doesn't mind that his Indian heritage makes him different than his peers. However, through his experiences as an older
child and teenager, Gogol begins to feel that while he doesn't exactly fit in with the mainstream American lifestyle, he also isn't truly a part of the
Indian culture of his parents. This is clearly illustrated when Gogol and his family visit Calcutta for eight months. During this time, Gogol feels that
"Sonia is his only ally, the only person to speak and sit and see as he does", implying that due to his time in America, he no longer behaves or thinks
in the same way that his relatives do. In his late teens, Gogol actively tries to distance himself from his family's customs and culture and assimilate into
the American lifestyle, even changing his name, which he sees as an outlandish name that isolates him from his peers. (Gogol was named after a
Russian author, and his name, which is neither Indian nor American, reminds him that he doesn't fit in.) At this point, Gogol seems to define "home" as
the place where he feels at home and comfortable and fits in with others, and because he doesn't feel that he belongs in either the American or Indian
culture, he doesn't know where his home really is.
When Gogol leaves home and begins a new life as Nikhil, it seems that his internal conflict over his identity and place in the world has resolved. In
some ways, his life becomes easier; without his old name to remind him of his singularity, Gogol can suppress his heritage and immerse himself in an

Literary Analysis Of Alice Munro 's ' How I Met My Husband '
Literary Analysis – Edie and Alice Munro's Life Alice Munro's short story, "How I Met My Husband" has a narrator that is one of a kind and a true
reflection of the author's lifestyle. The symbolic meaning of Edie's role in the story can be directly related to the life Alice Munro was living and
striving for herself. Edie is a 15–year–old girl who strives for marriage and affection from men, has been raised in a country/rural setting, and does
poorly in obtaining a higher education due to many reasons. Just as Edie is living out this way of life in the story, Alice Munro was experiencing the
same things in her real day–to–day life.

She later states in the article that she did not discover her talent for writing until she was a housewife around the age of 40. This want of being
popular among the boys was reflected through the life of Edie and her affection seeking ways.
The interest shown by Chris Watters is alove that is deceptive to Edie as she is searching for a man to show her what she wants in life. "Do you have
to go so soon" (Kennedy 207)? shows that he cares for her, but not on the same level she is interpreting this compassion. Alice went through a similar
situation, after she had three kids she went through a divorce which shows the vulnerability of women to love and the deception that can accompany it.
Another component of love and the feelings of love for a man are revealed through a strong comparison made in the story by Edie in regards to the
fiancГ©e of Chris Watters, Alice Kelling. This comparison is one that is made of out of jealousy since Alice Kelling was already one step ahead of
Edie in the quest for Chris's heart and love.

Promoting Equality. Equality is about making our society somewhere that everyone has the opportunity and the chance to reach their maximum
potential throughout their life. Part of equality is knowing everyone has a different level of ability and understanding, for example for one person in
society being able to walk to a supermarket independently and buy themselves a packet of crisps then walk home again could be a huge achievement
for them, giving them a strong sense of self believe as well as a boost in their selfВconcept. To other people this is part of daily life and they wouldn't
see it as an achievement. Giving people the opportunity to do things that are possible for them to do with their level of ability and making them feel
empowered by it is equality amongst our society. Another example could be in a care home for the elderly, for one service user walking to the toilet
and back could a real achievement for the, making them feel independent and selfВsufficient whereas a different service user could have a real sense of
achievement by simply standing up unaided for 10 seconds. Recognising peoples different potentially is a key part in creating equality amongst
service users. People can be led to believe that equality is treating people in the exact same way but approaching one person in a specific way could be

People who decided to challenge the system in efforts to live The Good Life are providing resources for themselves. This means inhabiting an off–grid
lifestyle makes one solely responsible for supplying their energy, waste removal system and water supply system.
One resource that is essential to produce electricity is renewable energy. Providing one's own energy consists of utilizing solar panels, wind turbines
and micro hydroelectricity. Solar panels absorb energy from the Sun to produce solar energy. A great number of people who live off the grid use
solar power. Wind turbines generate electrical power from the wind and functions in the reverse manner as a fan does. Micro hydroelectricity is
another source of energy, which fascinatingly "uses a source of running water, like a stream, to generate electricity" (Dunn 3). Between all three sources
of renewable energy, micro hydroelectricity is the most efficient, reliable and commonly used form.
Undoubtedly, the most important resource people work to provide for an off–grid lifestyle is water. One method of obtaining water is through a water

Describe Your Happy Place
Where is your happy place? I grew up on the mid north coast of NSW in a small town called Valla Beach which was nestled between the bush and
the beach. Because it was such a small town in which most people knew each other, I was granted relative freedom to roam the native environment
and explore. I have very fond memories of riding my scooter up and down the streets with my friends and neighbours, cantering through the bush in
front of my house, making up stories about my life if I had lived there and spending all day on the beach, crisping in the sun. Being inside seemed
like such a dull affair when you could be immersed in a different world, a natural world. I feel as if these early life experiences led me to always have a
special connection with the natural environment as it was the one true place that I could seek comfort and clarity – my happy place.
Across the road from my house was extensive bushland that stretched a few kilometres until it was cut off by the highway. In many ways, it was
my childhood playground. There was a small dam in the bushland that I often took my dog to play fetch and cool off. There was a bush track that
winded up and down hills and ended in a small little clearing and there was also dirt bike tracks that a local boy had made from scrap materials.
When I was 12, a housing development crew came to town and begun marking out the land to demolish to build new estates and within weeks they
were underway. They began draining the dam to make way

Decline of Biblical Christianity and Rise of 'Modern'...
Christianity has quickly begun to lose its true meaning throughout the years. It's when people use words like love and morals and common sense–they
just don't have the same meaning as they once did all those years ago. Christianity though, unlike the previously stated words, has been modernized in
such ways that we have deceivingly altered things such as "The Ten Commandments" to foolishly fit our desired lifestyles. We have begun a
modernization of Christianity I like to refer to as, Twenty–First Century Christianity. Christianity within itself has been the most complex simple part
of life many have ever had to "endure," until really the late 1900's when "simplicity" became the American standard for most. First it was transportation

their lives to Christ. Now what are the differences between cultural (modern) Christian and biblical Christian lifestyles? Well as David Platt put it in
his book Radicle, "We are settling for a Christianity that revolves around catering to ourselves when the central message of Christianity is actually
about abandoning ourselves." Basically, David Platt was kindly beating around the bush about us as an American culture, his book Radicle being
strictly about American Christian culture, being lukewarm in our faith, relationship and devotion to Christ in the way we live. In Revelation 3:16, "So,
because you are lukewarm––neither hot nor cold––I am about to spit you out of my mouth." Harsh? Yeah, probably a little bit, and one might see this

Analysis: The Greek Myth Of Dionysus
The Greek myth of Dionysus, known as Bacchus in Roman mythology, can be seen in components of colleges, cities, and towns all over the world.
From dessert bars being bigger than salad bars, the party and overall atmosphere that embodies the "college experience," and in the unequal distribution
of wealth throughout the world; Dionysus can be found almost anywhere. Being god of the vine, theater or entertainment, and self–liberation, Dionysus
stands for what many people strive for.
The lifestyle that Dionysus lived was very carefree and self–indulgent. He constantly influenced people to try to better themselves before worrying
about others, and that is something we see even today. Throughout this myth, the high points and low points of this lifestyle are brought to life. It
teaches society that, while you do need to take care of yourself and splurge occasionally, living boisterously and always doing whatever you want to
do can cause your life to spiral out of control. Over– indulgence in any one thing can be bad or harmful. In both the East College Cafeteria and the

to better distribute their wealth, there would be fewer people living the Dionysus lifestyle. From looking deeper into this myth, I have discovered
aspects of the carefree lifestyle at not only parties, but also as prominent as the on–campus cafeterias. The ways of Dionysus are very exposed and are
often looked over or taken for granted. From people merely not being informed, to people who enjoy living said lifestyle, there is no end in sight for

If A Person Doesn 't Do Money And Resources House B Is A...
If a person doesn't want to use more money and resources House B is a perfectly good option. My family has lived in both Houses A and B, and
each time 3 children and two parents were living there. It is possible to live in a smaller home no matter what size of family you have or special
circumstances you have. A lot of people think that eating more vegetables and fruits is more expensive than eating processed foods. This can often
be true, but I set out to change my eating habits and still stick to my budget. As a college student staying on a budget is key, and I allot myself 25
dollars a week for my food. I wanted to eat less processed foods, so I set out to see if I could get the same amount of food for 25 dollars, but this time

This can be seen in examples of tiny home owners. Andrea Tremols spends only five to ten dollars every month on her electric bill. This is a huge
difference comparing both House A and House B. Imagine living in Tremols' house and only paying 5 dollars a month compared to $50
–$150 every
month. She pays only about 10 percent of what House A and House B pays. Tremols saves a lot of money and resources(Cook 2016). House A is a
little over double in size and it shows in both the gas and electric bill. The electric bill for House A is often more than twice the cost for House B.
Although that has a lot to do with the number of people living in a home, things like lighting for a large home can increase electricity costs. Gas is
used in each case to heat the houses. Heating and cooling a larger house is bound to cost more and that was seen with the two different house
evaluated. House B stayed fairly consistent maintaining a cost somewhere in the 40 dollar range. House A on the other hand averaged around 60
dollars per month. That is an average of a 20 dollar difference between the cost for House A and the cost for House B. It is clear that a smaller home
can greatly decrease your expenditures on electricity and gas, but that is not the only decreasing amount seen with smaller homes. When individuals
use less electricity and gas there is less need to create these resources. This can benefit the Earth greatly. For example, electricity is often created from

Search For The Right Way Of Life In Herman Hesse's Siddhartha
Siddhartha
Lap Topic #6
By: Jose Guerra
Due: 11/30/2017
Jose Guerra 11/30/17
We go on day by day in search for the "right" way of life, but whose right is it to tell us how we live? Who is to tell us right from wrong? In many
cultures, religion dictates what people perceive to be moral and not. Although religion is accepted into the lifestyle of many, what happens to those that
do not find fulfillment in the words of the people preaching these beliefs? In the book Siddhartha by Herman Hesse, the life of the protagonist named
Siddhartha is expressed through his issues to find satisfaction in teachings. He didn't find fulfillment in the words of others, not of his father, not the
oldest samana, not even the Sublime One(the Buddha). The novel takes you through every step of his life and at the end of the book there is an ironic
message. The message contradicts everything he believed that was going to aid him on this journey to Nirvana which surprises the readers.
The novel begins in the early stages of Siddhartha's life. He was a brahmin's son which meant he was in an upper class compared to most. As a young
man he had everything, he had the life that many dreamed. His life was that of someone that was easily envied, but in reality he wasn't living the
perfect life. He was dissatisfied with the teachings of the brahmins and he didn't find fulfillment in their words although he was a pandit. He mastered
their teachings but couldn't master their meaning.

Analysis Of ' Blood On The Forge ' By William Attaway
A Change of Culture Culture has the power of informing you of someone's identity. It is said that culture is the way of life a group of people follow,
meaning their behaviors, beliefs, values, and symbols that identify them as where they came from, who they are, and who they can become. On the
other hand, we know that culture is always changing and adapting to the lifestyle and advances of the present day. This can happen by the adaptation
groups of people have suffered in order to achieve a better way of living other than the one they've previously had. Examples of these changes can
be seen with the "Great Migration" in the 1900s. A movement in which many African Americans moved to the North to work and settle in the steel
mills in search of a better life. In Blood on the Forge by William Attaway, we are able to in fact prove that culture can change and adaptation plays a
key role in our existence. The book portrays this change through the life and experiences of the Moss brothers and their lifestyle from Kentucky to
Pennsylvania. With that of culture comes our identity through music. The "death of the blues" serves as an example in how culture is put up to the
challenge of change. Melody, Chinatown, and Big Mat represent "the loss of folk culture which accompanied the Great Migration of Black people
from the rural South to the industrial North" (Waldron 58). As we begin to read, we are able to interpret their lives and identity in the South through
Melody's music. This

1492 was the year that Christopher Columbus, the Spanish conquistador, came to the "New World" and explored it which to be later colonized by
Spain, France, and mostly England to establish the soon to be, colonial America. In time, when colonists arrived in the New England region ruled by
Britain their lives were being controlled by many factors consisting of religion, wealth, social status, race, conflicts with other colonists/Indians and
gender. In the book, Everyday Life in Early America, written by David Freeman Hawke, it is argued that these immigrants were colonists that were
forced to adapt to a new way of life. The author, Hawke, believed these colonists living in the New England region or the Chesapeake region could not

they had to use the trees surrounding them and make houses with them for survival. Once they built the house a couple of interior touches were

I couldn 't believe it when the tomato– red rental car pulled into our gravel driveway. "He 's here," I shouted, racing outside to welcome my nephew
who had driven across the country to visit us.
After greeting him with hugs, we watched as Evan 's eyes took in our cabin, nestled in the woods. "So this is White Pines," he said. At that moment I
wished I could crawl inside Evan 's head and see what his first impressions were.
If I were a betting woman, I 'd bet my life that curiosity had forced my nephew into visiting. We 'd invited my brother 'sfamily for a visit several times

made it impossible.
Not only had my children and their cousins grown up on different sides of the country, but world 's apart when it came to lifestyles. My brother led a

Plato's Happiest Way Of Life
Plato's Happiest Way of Life
A just life in a just society would be the happiest possible way to live for Plato. Justice is defined as a balanced and well–integrated specialization of
functions both within the scope of society and the individual. The just society classifies its members on the basis of individual differences in
intellectual and physical abilities and is therefore warranted. The way to achieve a happy life is only half satisfied with the presence of a just society.
Other than living in a just society, the harmony between the parts within an individual's mind or soul is as important. The psyche contains three
elements: wisdom, spirit, and appetite. The wisdom in a person, similarly to the role of the rulers in society, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The metaphor of the cave is employed at this point to facilitate understanding with powerful visual imagery. When the prisoners are seated with their
backs to the fire, they are satisfying the desires of their appetite by looking at the mere shadows and treating those as genuine objects. When freed to
turn around and face the actual bonfire, puppets, and their operators, the blessed prisoner has now been drawn closer to truth. Upon ascending from the
cave, the individual experiences a painful process of adapting to the illumination of the sun (lower forms) and ultimately comes into direct visual
contact with the sun, which is a metaphor of the 'Good'. He gains knowledge of the ultimate truth –– the form of the good –– and experiences ultimate
pleasure as a result. A most basic condition in this intriguing metaphor is that the prisoner puts his mind and reasoning in charge because it is the only
method enabling him to perceive of the Good.
Plato proceeds to explain that a person can attain the greatest happiness as long as his spirit and appetite follow the guidance of wisdom, which
identifies proper and productive pleasure. It is only rational and obvious that letting the man (reason) be in control of the lion (spirit) and the
many–headed monster (appetite) would lead to prosperity and fulfillment

Harold And Maude Character Analysis
Warren Buffett once said "It takes 20 years to build a reputation and five minutes to ruin it. If you think about that, you will do things differently."
The simplicity and accuracy of this quote may make a person deeply question how they decide to react to what life gives them. In the movie Harold
and Maude, Harold is displayed as an odd boy who has a strange habit of enjoying to portray death, but only to get a reaction from his mother. Harold
did not always have this desire to scare his mother, but one day when his mother was told of his "death" he enjoyed the reaction so much it changed
how he lived life. Warren Buffett may argue that Harold spent his entire life building a reputation for himself, but everything changed in less... Show

People similar to myself may be considered goody–two–shoes, if that is still a relevant saying. I think about my past and there has never been a time
when I deliberately wanted to bend the rules or felt comfortable doing so. I consider myself a classical person. I enjoy understanding the mechanics
behind working systems, but find it hard to be spontaneous and go with the flow of things. I feel as if the classical kind of person is more likely to
struggle living an anti–authoritarianism lifestyle due to the fact that for underlying objects to work there must be structure. An example in reference
to ZAMM may be the common topic of motorcycles. John is very much pleased with his BMW because he loves the aesthetics. The outer shell, or
aesthetic, may be considered an authority. While the narrator of ZAMM may be more intrigued with the underlying functions of the motorcycle, if
there is no outer shell to hold and protect it then the motorcycle will likely not be functioning. Similarly, if a classical minded person, like myself,
were to attempt to remove authority from my life I may malfunction. My grades may drop because I have given up making specific scheduled time to
do homework, which would ultimately lead to a loss in career opportunities in the future. However, I am aware that not all people are

Jumping off of a rocky forty foot cliff is one of those risky accomplishments I can say I overcame during my months' venture. Towards the end of

abilities to go into frightening and unfamiliar situations with an optimistic outlook on how I will get through them. Not only did this trip give me
amazing insight on the unique characteristics of Hawaii, but it also taught me the skills needed to accommodate and thrive in a new
environment. Time management was one of these necessities required for maintaining a balance between work and play. Before I went on this
trip I was unaware of what it would be like to have to deal with the daily responsibilities that aren't usually present in a typical teenage life. Living

Maggie And Dee
In the short story, "Everyday Use," Alice Walker uses her contrasting characters of Maggie and Dee to show a cultural split. Dee, the eldest
daughter, comes home to visit her family who lives a very traditional way of life. Dee has gone to college and lives a more modernist lifestyle,
whereas her sister Maggie has not gone to school and lives a more traditionalist lifestyle. This difference between the sisters shows the division in the
1960's between a traditionalist and modernist lifestyle through her characters Maggie and Dee.
During the 1960s some African–Americans began to replace their birth names with names of African or Muslim descent, but what was the reason
behind this change? In his article, "Destroying to Save: Idealism and Pragmatism ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This appreciation also leads to Dee changing not only her lifestyle, but several other things such as her apparel and name; which is described as
"stereotypically African." However, Dee's new–found appreciation does seem, like Hakims, to be more of a fad. In Diane Ross's article, "Everyday
Use," she states, "To Dee, artifacts such as the benches or the quilts are strictly aesthetic objects. It never occurs to her that they, too, are symbols of
oppression: Her family made these things because they could not afford to buy them" (Ross ). This shows, unlike her sister Maggie, Dee's
perception of the quilts are strictly aesthetic and artistic pieces that reflect African Heritage. Dee never considers they may represent oppression
themselves and it makes her seem as though she wants them solely just to show off. In addition, Ross goes on to state, "Her admiration for them now
seems to reflect a cultural trend toward valuing handmade objects, rather than any sincere interest in her "heritage." After all, when she was offered a
quilt before she went away to college, she rejected it as "old–fashioned, out of style" (Ross ). This shows that Dee's change to a modernist lifestyle was
influenced through a cultural trend. This also alludes to when Dee rejected a quilt before she went to college, but now that she has discovered the
cultural trend of college, she wants one.

Allowing himself to be pulled into this world says a lot about the author's character: it is almost as if he is vulnerable, and this vulnerability in some
cases can be seen as a weakness. However, this vulnerable act allowed him to find himself and strengthen his previous beliefs and attitude. According to
Aristotle, authors have an ethical obligation to have a strong ethos: this entails authors to have intelligence, rectitude, and goodwill, and Covington
expresses this throughout his entire memoir. Even though, at the beginning he does not understand their behavior, and after he is embarrassed and
virtually kicked out of the society, he is able to write the truth about the handlers with the utmost respect. Yes, he exposes many aspects of the handlers'

meaning of his argument. The author does not purposely try to portray these people in the best light possible, but rather the most ingenuous way. He
demonstrates his goodwill by remaining impartial during most of the memoir: occasionally he allows his emotions to effect his depiction of the
characters; however, this is almost impossible to achieve, because he interacted with these people and was reacting to certain situations.

The bridge market segment consists of a type of person that society has grown to see as a respectable and reputable breed of human being. Along
with a sophisticated mindset, the typical women in the bridge market have a certain control of their life that is considered very admirable and
successful among peers. In the life of these women, the goal is to race against time to do everything required of them, all while looking their best and
keeping their composure. To the average woman, these women have "superhero" written all over them. Where many are moms, housewives, and
career powerhouses, all in one, the life of a woman in an upscale world never seems to stop. With bridge defined as, "...the gap between contemporary
and designer labels. . ." (Fasanella, 2009) stretching to make the combination of "normal woman" and "admirable social butterfly" is no easy feat at the
end of anyone's day.
Lifestyle
Although the lifestyle of these women may vary person to person, the general consensus seems to stereotype them to be socialites who work hard on
the weekdays while holding together a family simultaneously. These women earn their playtime after long hours holding together a company. Women
in this market run between the ages of 30–50 and usually are well established in their careers. Their occupations generally range into the higher reaches
of the companies they work for, be they in politics or business, they don't go unnoticed. Given

Mademoiselle Reisz Analysis
The Influences of the Mademoiselle Reiz on the development of Edna Pontellier: Edna is the protagonist of The Awakening by Kate Chopin. She
is the wife of a New Orleans businessman. She is not content with her marriage and the lifestyle that she must conform to. She changes from her
role as a devoted wife and mother to a woman who becomes engrossed in discovering her own identity. She then goes through a series of
experiences to satisfy herself mentally, emotionally, and sexually. She changes from the woman of those times, who always stuck to conformity, to
someone who worries and is only responsible for herself. It is Mademoiselle who influences her to become awakened in such a way. However this
very awakening will be her downfall. She will then begin to isolate herself from those around her and eventually choose suicide as an escape. A main
factor towards the development of Edna would be Mademoiselle Reiz. Her influence plays a vital role towards her awakening and change to her life
style. From the moment she heard Reiz play she had begun to be influenced. "The very first chords Mademoiselle Reisz struck on the piano sent a
keen tremor down Mrs. Pontellier's spinal column. It was not the first time she had heard an artist at the piano. Perhaps it was the first time she was
ready, perhaps the first time her being was tempered to take an impress of the abiding truth." (Chopin 29) . It can be said that the change in Edna was
sparked by this very moment. From here on Edna

Soccer Benefits
Soccer has been played for nearly three thousand years and is considered the world's most popular sport. The sport is regularly seen as a hobby
however for me it is a pleasant method for learning long lasting lessons. I was introduced to soccer when I was ten years old. I started by playing street
soccer and afterward I proceeded to playing on an actual league. As I gradually got better at soccer I picked up abilities that I would use in everyday
life. As I had stated, soccer is very popular but why are the benefits unheard of? Why are parents not being told at all? Soccer is vital for children.
Children who play soccer experience lifelong benefits such as the building of social skills, discipline, and a healthier lifestyle. One benefit that children
gain from playing soccer is they build social skills. For example, being able to communicate with the team is essential. When I first started I was
very shy. I did not communicate and the effect was I performed terribly on the field. Once I learned to communicate I effectively played better.
These skills also benefited me outside of the sport and I was able to make friends effortlessly and be more comfortable with myself. Being able to
communicate also helps by being able to work as a team. Teamwork is critical because one itself cannot score a goal on its own. Being able to depend
on someone helped me work smoothly. I was also able to perform even better than if I were to work alone on the field or on any other tasks. Social

Therefore, if you have already developed diabetes, you may wonder whether the lifestyle changes that could have prevented diabetes will gain you
anything. The answer is yes: the same lifestyle changes that might have prevented your diabetes can help you to treat it. As important as lifestyle is in
causing diabetes, it may be even more important in treating type diabetes, as well as diabetes. Diabetes is unique chronic disease, affected by virtually
every aspect of lifestyle, including eating, physical activity, and school, work, and travel schedule. Conversely, all of these activities are affected by
diabetes. While many diseases require attention to taking prescribed medications, diabetes demands constant attention and vigilance with regard no
timing and content of meals and physical activity, glucose monitoring, administration of numerous medications including insulin, foot care, and a host
of other self–care requirements. And diabetes can be a petulant, jealous companion; if you ignore your care, even for a little while, it will make you
pay with uncomfortable and potentially dangerous hyperglycemia or hypoglycemia. And if you don't pay attention to the myriad details of care over a
long period of time, the penalty can be much more severe with loss of vision, kidney failure, foot ulcers, amputations and heart disease. On the bright
side, during the past two decades, clinical trials have shown us that persons with diabetes can live long, productive, and complication–free lives. Studies
in diabetes have demonstrated how to achieve near–normal blood–glucose levels. In addition, we have developed effective interventions to lower blood
pressure and cholesterol levels in people with diabetes. The consequence of such "tight" glucose, blood pressure, and cholesterol control is improved

The Last Known Transcendentalist: Eustace Conway
Eustace Conway is one of a few individuals who live a pre–modern lifestyle. He lives in the middle of the woods, doing things his way. He is a
spiritual man and views life differently than the common man. He has studied what is now his way of life and lived it his whole adult life. There
have been others who view life that way, more so in the past compared to modern times. There have been fewer that are as popular and famous as
Eustace. The way he views life is called transcendentalism. Unlike past transcendental icons, Eustace Conway is successful in his ways of living and
incorporates his transcendental lifestyle into everything he does. Eustace is mentally stable and healthy, with which past transcendental icons have been

Eustace was born in South Carolina in 1961. He has been living in the woods for most of his life. Despite what most of our society thinks he does
have an educational background besides basic school. Eustace studied at the Appalachian Trail University in North Carolina. He has degrees in
English and Anthropology. He has a strong tie to the woods, he has since a young age. At the age of 17 Eustace moved away from his parents and

Health Of An Individual: Lifestyle And Health
Good health is the most precious asset owned by the human beings on earth. Good health is an essential pre–requisite for the persistent and adequate
functioning of an individual and a society. Health of an individual is an essential requirement for carrying out day to day activities. Physical
non–wellbeing is a problem not only for an individual but also for a society. A sick person's primary concern is to maintain physical wellbeing of his
body. Other pursuits of life become secondary to him. Therefore, as Rene DuBos (1981) explains, health can be defined as the ability to work. This

I Have Made Decisions After Decisions

  • 1. I Have Made Decisions After Decisions I have made decisions after decisions that will lead me to success in 5 years. By allowing myself to focus on my future wasn't as hard as I thought. Your present is as important as your future because we all want to accomplish and experience each moment in our lives, but we need to realize everything we go through in our life time leads to a purpose in the future. Although I'm not satisfied with the decisions I have been making, in five years, I will have a better health; better attitude toured myself, better education, and being more independent. Although I have been running for most of my life; it has made me feel accomplished and willing to realize how great my future lifestyle will be. I will be ready for the next obstacle course that will be heading my way in my future. Running each day has changed my life extremely. Running is a good stress reliever. I have found it has been very difficult to combine school and work together. It is very important to be focused on school and work combined. I have noticed how difficult it has been to just sitting down and work on homework because I recently have been in a moment in my life where it seemed like I wasn't able to focus on my school work. I tried to work with my teachers one on one to try to work to increase my grade, but it seemed like putting in the effort for the assignment wasn't even worth it. I have been stressed out so much that I almost thought about giving up on this semester. I haven't really ever given up on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. Living Like Weasels Rhetorical Analysis Living Like Weasels Rhetorical Analysis In her essay "Living Like Weasels", Annie Dillard explores the idea of following a single calling in life, and attaching one's self it this calling as the weasel on Ernest Thompson Seton's eagle had. Dillard presents her argument using the analogy of a weasel and how the; "weasel lives as he's meant to, yielding at every moment to the perfect freedom of single necessity" (Dillard). In constructing her argument, however, she often contradicts herself undermining the effectiveness of her argument and leaving the reader confused. Dillard primarily uses ethos and pathos to support her argument and concerning both, the reader discovers; inconsistencies in her character, and conflicts between her perceptions of the weasel's emotions and its actions. Concerning her ethos, Dillard presents herself as a part of suburbia and then is suddenly, inexplicably overcome by the desire to live wild. Dillard also uses very detailed language throughout the essay in describing her surroundings and thoughts, however; this further undermines her argument and ethos as she is trying to convince the reader that she could simply become as simple and single minded as the weasel she has focused her argument around. With her use of pathos, Dillard begins her essay with descriptions of the weasel's brutality, yet; she concludes by stating the weasel lives as is necessary. By simplifying her experience and presenting a reasonable explanation for why she wanted to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Essay about Hotel California: The Californian Lifestyle "Hotel California" by The Eagles has been the recipient of much speculation since its release in 1976. Although many other interpretations exist including some which claim this song to be referencing drugs, much evidence suggests that "Hotel California" is, at least partly, making a statement about the lifestyle of drug and alcohol users particularly in the large cities of California. As with many songs, duality of meaning exists in "Hotel California." Since "Hotel California" debuted in the seventies, one can understand why the topic would be Californian drug–using lifestyle. "The scare tactics of the 1960s gave way to the contradictory messages of the late '70s and early '80s. Drugs became glamorous, without becoming better understood" ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After examining the whole song, one can guess that the song makes the claim that marijuana is a drug that allows easy passage to worse drugs. According to "a 1969 Gallup poll, only 4% of American adults said they had tried marijuana. Thirty–four percent said they didn't know the effects of marijuana, but 43% thought it was used by many or some high school kids" (Robison); therefore, many individuals might not understand that marijuana, as many claim today, leads to usage of more harmful substances. The speaker then sees a shimmering light as if he is about to die which signifies the death of an old life and the birth of a new one. The temptation of drugs becomes too strong, so the speaker has to stop at the Hotel California. The mission bell that sounds contrasts so with the topic of this song that the bell must symbolize the perversion of life by the drug–use in California and elsewhere. "This could be Heaven or this could be Hell," furthers the idea of the death of an old life. Here, the speaker does not really know whether or not his or her new life is going to be enjoyable in the end. As it turns out, the speaker's new life is hell. Then she lights up a candle, or perhaps a joint since the place most likely has electricity in the seventies, and shows the speaker the way. Perhaps the woman is a drug–dealer or a prostitute; ether one could lead a person to a lifestyle full of drugs and alcohol. "Her mind is Tiffany–twisted, she got the Mercedes bends," (The Eagles) ... • 4. Summary Of Alice Walker's Two Ways To Belong In America Home is Where The Heart Is Is it better to settle with what you already have and know or branch out and strive for comfort elsewhere? This is the ongoing debate between sisters, Dee (Wangero) and Maggie in Alice Walker's "Everyday Use" and sisters Bharati and Mira in Bharati Mukherjee's "Two Ways to Belong in America". In "Everyday Use" Maggie is a soft spoken homebody who has never found interest in straying from her mother while Dee on the other hand has moved on in life and uses her past as an image to prove how far she has made it in life, she even changed her birth name to cut all ties with her past. In "Two Ways to Belong in America" Bharati and Mira are Indian immigrants who both came to America with intentions of keeping their Indian heritage, but over time Bharati faded from her culture while Mira kept true. Although Maggie and Mira decided to stick to their roots, Dee and Bharati chose to immerse themselves in a new culture. Maggie in "Everyday Use" and Mira in "Two Ways to Belong in America" both chose to never stray from their traditions. This is displayed through Maggie because she lives at home with her mother and will marry a small town boy with a similar lifestyle to hers, "She will marry John Thomas (who has mossy teeth in an earnest face)" (Walker para. 13). The same goes for Mira because she chose to marry an Indian man in America, "Mira married an Indian student in 1962" (Mukherjee para. 4) and she also never fully became an American citizen, "I am an ... • 5. Adler 's Individual Psychology : A Good Representation Of... Adler's Individual Psychology provides a good representation of the struggles of Sussana Kaysen with depression and feelings of loneliness. In Adler's view of human nature people are the product of more than just what Freud said about genetics and their environment. They are a product of understanding of their abilities and the life choices that they make. It is a holistic view of the individual that matters the most – their thinking, feeling and acting. Adler stresses the idea that we are shaped by our perceptions and the goals that we strive to achieve. Beginning early in life, we imagine our ideal self and try to accomplish this. In the case of Sussana, she knew she wanted to write. Despite the fact that women in the 1960s had very ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This only increased her desire to gain autonomy. Additionally, family values and atmosphere play at important role in a child's upbringing. Sussana's parents have always rejected her way of life and this may have instigated her anxious and isolated feelings. For instance, Sussana sees her mother as an object who performs the tasks forcefully as they are expected by the society. This has set an example for Sussana as she decides 'she does not want to end up like her mother.' Her goal in life is that people are worthless and do not accept me for who I am, therefore I must do what I like in this lonely world. In this way, Sussana appears to have established a lifestyle and goal that is a reflection of how she was treated in her early childhood years. Furthermore, Sussana seems to have been repressed through overly strict and disciplinary environments and this might have developed a drive in her to gain freedom. These early experiences may have resulted in a view of the world as a lonely and worthless place. Sussana grew up in an environment where, as a woman, she was expected to pay a bigger role in society. Sussana, on the other hand, had no interest in family dinners and events and seemed to turn inward. It appears as if she lacked the energy and motivation to interact with others. However, lately Sussana has been interacting with the other ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. My Family Experience I grew up in a small family in India. There are a lot of things that I can learn from my family. I wouldn't be here without my family. Most important thing in the world is family. The family is the place where you can learn and express what you learn. I'm grateful for my family. But I remember one day my parents told me that we are going to America, the land of dreams. I was thirteen years old. All those years I lived in my own country, and now I'm moving to America. When my parents gave me the shocking news I couldn't stop thinking about the way of life in America. I never stopped to think about the people I was leaving behind my cousins, grandparents and the only life I had ever known. Days went by, and here we are at the JFK airport. Amidst all the sadness, and fear of my lifestyle I couldn't feel the excitement. I admit that it was difficult at the beginning. But then it became easy. There is always happy after the bitterness. Now I'm excited to show people and tell them that how important afamily is and it is eternal. From the time, I started to speak and till now my family is a school and a university for me. Because I learned plenty lessons from my family throughout their action and their words. • 7. The Experimental Life Analysis The essays The Strenuous Life by Theodore Roosevelt and The Experimental Life by Randolph Bourne present conflicting views on the ideal lifestyle. Roosevelt suggests that the only acceptable life is one that involves progress through struggle and perseverance while Bourne claims that because life is filled with uncertainty it is best to prepare and embrace it. While Roosevelt's and Bourne's arguments greatly differ from each other, both offer valid pieces of advice on how to live a more ideal lifestyle. Roosevelt's essay addressed the working class of America and the respect that he had for them. He stated that he wanted "to preach the highest form of success which comes not to the man who desires mere easy peace, but to the man who does not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The process of advancing through strenuous work allows for only the most talented workers to advance and receive promotions. Similarities can be drawn between the themes of Roosevelt's essay and the subtext of Jack London's The Story of Jees Uck. Both of the pieces of writing display a sense of superiority and nationalism when comparing America to other countries or territories. London does this when contrasting the primitive characteristics of Jees Uck to the advanced nature of Neil Bonner. London then goes on to describe Jees Uck as stunned and in awe of America's advanced civilization. Roosevelt displays a similar idea in his essay when describing how to properly spread their influence to countries like the Philippines, he states "The first and all–important work to be done is to establish the supremacy of our flag (Roosevelt, 6)." • 8. Becoming A Leading Woman Is it possible to become a leading women in society, make my parents proud, and set an example for my siblings without speaking my mind? My great difficulty to speak up all began at the young age of nine in the fourth grade. Mrs. Stal, a very strict and loud middle aged private school teacher, had diminished my self confidence in the classroom by constantly telling me to be quiet. This had later on affected by ability to speak up, bringing me to where I am now, a girl who can talk your ears off, but could never speak up for herself once faced against authority. The solution to my problem consist of learning to speak my mind even when faced against threatening authority. Being a social butterfly with the difficulty to speak her mind may seem contradictory, however the causes of past experience provide evidence. Main causes for self struggles include my upbringing and insecurities. My upbringing from a Hispanic household had influenced my understanding of adults to be respected and not to question their authority. What my parents said was law, no questions about it. Respect slowly turned to fear as I grew older due to consequences and punishments I received. My insecurities slowly conquered my thoughts at the age of 10, preventing me from speaking to any adult. I felt as if everything I said or did was incorrect, triggering my silence inside and outside the classroom. • 9. Aristotle 's Views On Teachings And Beliefs Of Philosophy Epicurus is a well–known ancient Greek philosopher who has had a remarkable impact on teachings and beliefs of Philosophy. His goal was to teach all people to find happiness by following his way of life. To this day, there are still many that follow the beliefs of Epicurus. I see some of his beliefs positively and others seem unnecessary. Epicurus did not believe in the supernatural. His beliefs were more about physics, logic, and ethics. To him everything experienced in life happens naturally. The supernatural beliefs that people have are built on fear of dying and what happens in the afterlife. To Epicurus, this was no way to lead a happy life. Nothing is felt after death; therefore, there should be nothing to fear (Stace). Hedonism was an important part of Epicurus beliefs. Hedonism is easily described as the pursuit of pleasure. Epicurus believed that the goal in life should be to seek pleasure and avoid pain. Epicurus understood hedonism as pleasure being the first priority of life but believed that pleasure should be obtained in a sensible manner ("Hedonism"). The hedonistic beliefs of Epicurus tend to fall on the side of psychology as well as philosophy. People begin to seek pleasure and avoid pain unknowingly as an infant. As we grow into adults looking for ultimate happiness, seeking pleasure is just not as easy with all the curve balls that are thrown in life (O 'Keefe). Epicurus thought it is necessary to try to avoid pain but to do that we ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Differences In Living A Conventional Life In Housekeeping... There are two primary classifications of lives one can live: conventionalists and drifters. Most Americans fall into the conventional way of living. In Marilynne Robinson's novel Housekeeping, Robinson uses the different character development to contrast differences in living a conventional lifestyle versus living an eccentric lifestyle as a "drifter", such as events like when the sisters first meet Sylvie and when Lucille leaves to go live with Miss Royce. Soon after Ruth and Lucille were born, there father abandoned them. While living with their mother in Seattle, Bernice, their neighbor below them in their apartment, looked after them, even though Helen was perfectly able to. A few years after the abandonment, Helen, Ruth and Lucille's mother, drops the girls off at Sylvia, the girl's grandmother's house, then drives off cliff into a lake and drowns. Sylvia takes care of Lucille and Ruth for five years until she passes away from an unknown illness. When Grandmother Sylvia dies, Lily and Nona, Sylvia's unmarried sisters, take care of the girls for a while, then quickly fetch for Aunt Sylvie, who takes care of the girls for the duration of the rest of their adolescent years. First, Lucille and Ruth immediately recognizes Sylvie's transience. "We had planned to try Sylvie, but perhaps because Sylvie had her coat on and appeared so very transient, Lucille did not wait till we knew her better, as we had agreed to do" (Robinson 55). • 12. The Importance Of Imperialism In Shakespeare's The Tempest When a person takes a ball of red play–doh and smashes it together with a second ball of blue play–do, it creates purple. Can the two colors ever go back to their original state of being just red, and just blue? When two colors are mixed, the action can never be undone, therefore, they can never return to the natural and pure versions of themselves that they once were . Due to imperialism, when you emerge one culture with another for even a small period of time, the original residents are permanently permeated with the new culture, an action that can never be reversed. In a sense, once a pure and natural civilization is infused with another lifestyle, the effects, no matter how small, will leave the native civilization changed. Montaigne deduces that there is a natural untouched form of nature and a new nature, that is essentially impure. Impure in the sense that society has fallen out of step with the natural way of life, to create their own rules, and own way of living. Shakespeare agrees with Montaigne when it comes to imperialism and ruining the pure state of innocence, and his agreement is shown through his play, The Tempest. The Renaissance philosopher, Montaigne, insists through his essay, " Of Cannibals", that society today has corrupted mother nature, and taken away her purity by turning away from the natural order to make their own set of rules, and execute their own way of living. Civilizations were once born through nature, thus they lived by nature. In the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 14. The Namesake Character Analysis In The Namesake, the central character, Gogol, grows up in a unique situation: he was born to Bengali parents but grows up in America, and throughout the story, Gogol has to gradually find his place in the world. As Gogol grows up, his struggle to find his true home reflects his struggle to find his identity and sense of self. He is torn between the Indian culture of his parents and the American lifestyle he grows up with, being a part of both but never feeling quite at home in either of them. His definition of home changes dramatically throughout his struggles and life experiences, but he eventually comes into his own as an Indian–American man and finds his place in the world. As a very young boy, Gogol doesn't mind that his Indian heritage makes him different than his peers. However, through his experiences as an older child and teenager, Gogol begins to feel that while he doesn't exactly fit in with the mainstream American lifestyle, he also isn't truly a part of the Indian culture of his parents. This is clearly illustrated when Gogol and his family visit Calcutta for eight months. During this time, Gogol feels that "Sonia is his only ally, the only person to speak and sit and see as he does", implying that due to his time in America, he no longer behaves or thinks in the same way that his relatives do. In his late teens, Gogol actively tries to distance himself from his family's customs and culture and assimilate into the American lifestyle, even changing his name, which he sees as an outlandish name that isolates him from his peers. (Gogol was named after a Russian author, and his name, which is neither Indian nor American, reminds him that he doesn't fit in.) At this point, Gogol seems to define "home" as the place where he feels at home and comfortable and fits in with others, and because he doesn't feel that he belongs in either the American or Indian culture, he doesn't know where his home really is. When Gogol leaves home and begins a new life as Nikhil, it seems that his internal conflict over his identity and place in the world has resolved. In some ways, his life becomes easier; without his old name to remind him of his singularity, Gogol can suppress his heritage and immerse himself in an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Edie is a 15–year–old girl who strives for marriage and affection from men, has been raised in a country/rural setting, and does poorly in obtaining a higher education due to many reasons. Solar panels absorb energy from the Sun to produce solar energy. A great number of people who live off the grid use solar power. Wind turbines generate electrical power from the wind and functions in the reverse manner as a fan does. Micro hydroelectricity is another source of energy, which fascinatingly "uses a source of running water, like a stream, to generate electricity" (Dunn 3). Between all three sources of renewable energy, micro hydroelectricity is the most efficient, reliable and commonly used form. • 18. Describe Your Happy Place Where is your happy place? I grew up on the mid north coast of NSW in a small town called Valla Beach which was nestled between the bush and the beach. Because it was such a small town in which most people knew each other, I was granted relative freedom to roam the native environment and explore. I have very fond memories of riding my scooter up and down the streets with my friends and neighbours, cantering through the bush in front of my house, making up stories about my life if I had lived there and spending all day on the beach, crisping in the sun. Being inside seemed like such a dull affair when you could be immersed in a different world, a natural world. I feel as if these early life experiences led me to always have a special connection with the natural environment as it was the one true place that I could seek comfort and clarity – my happy place. Across the road from my house was extensive bushland that stretched a few kilometres until it was cut off by the highway. In many ways, it was my childhood playground. There was a small dam in the bushland that I often took my dog to play fetch and cool off. There was a bush track that winded up and down hills and ended in a small little clearing and there was also dirt bike tracks that a local boy had made from scrap materials. We have begun a modernization of Christianity I like to refer to as, Twenty–First Century Christianity. Now what are the differences between cultural (modern) Christian and biblical Christian lifestyles? Well as David Platt put it in his book Radicle, "We are settling for a Christianity that revolves around catering to ourselves when the central message of Christianity is actually about abandoning ourselves." Basically, David Platt was kindly beating around the bush about us as an American culture, his book Radicle being strictly about American Christian culture, being lukewarm in our faith, relationship and devotion to Christ in the way we live. In Revelation 3:16, "So, because you are lukewarm––neither hot nor cold––I am about to spit you out of my mouth." Harsh? Yeah, probably a little bit, and one might see this and do what many do in this era; see it, curse it, and go about their lukewarm Christian lifestyle as they have been. Tremols saves a lot of money and resources(Cook 2016). House A is a little over double in size and it shows in both the gas and electric bill. The electric bill for House A is often more than twice the cost for House B. Search For The Right Way Of Life In Herman Hesse's Siddhartha Siddhartha Lap Topic #6 By: Jose Guerra Due: 11/30/2017 Jose Guerra 11/30/17 We go on day by day in search for the "right" way of life, but whose right is it to tell us how we live? Who is to tell us right from wrong? In many cultures, religion dictates what people perceive to be moral and not. Although religion is accepted into the lifestyle of many, what happens to those that do not find fulfillment in the words of the people preaching these beliefs? In the book Siddhartha by Herman Hesse, the life of the protagonist named Siddhartha is expressed through his issues to find satisfaction in teachings. He didn't find fulfillment in the words of others, not of his father, not the oldest samana, not even the Sublime One(the Buddha). The novel takes you through every step of his life and at the end of the book there is an ironic message. The message contradicts everything he believed that was going to aid him on this journey to Nirvana which surprises the readers. The novel begins in the early stages of Siddhartha's life. He was a brahmin's son which meant he was in an upper class compared to most. As a young man he had everything, he had the life that many dreamed. His life was that of someone that was easily envied, but in reality he wasn't living the perfect life. • 25. Analysis Of ' Blood On The Forge ' By William Attaway A Change of Culture Culture has the power of informing you of someone's identity. It is said that culture is the way of life a group of people follow, meaning their behaviors, beliefs, values, and symbols that identify them as where they came from, who they are, and who they can become. On the other hand, we know that culture is always changing and adapting to the lifestyle and advances of the present day. This can happen by the adaptation groups of people have suffered in order to achieve a better way of living other than the one they've previously had. Examples of these changes can be seen with the "Great Migration" in the 1900s. A movement in which many African Americans moved to the North to work and settle in the steel mills in search of a better life. In Blood on the Forge by William Attaway, we are able to in fact prove that culture can change and adaptation plays a key role in our existence. The book portrays this change through the life and experiences of the Moss brothers and their lifestyle from Kentucky to Pennsylvania. With that of culture comes our identity through music. The "death of the blues" serves as an example in how culture is put up to the challenge of change. Melody, Chinatown, and Big Mat represent "the loss of folk culture which accompanied the Great Migration of Black people from the rural South to the industrial North" (Waldron 58). The way to achieve a happy life is only half satisfied with the presence of a just society. Other than living in a just society, the harmony between the parts within an individual's mind or soul is as important. The psyche contains three elements: wisdom, spirit, and appetite. The wisdom in a person, similarly to the role of the rulers in society, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The metaphor of the cave is employed at this point to facilitate understanding with powerful visual imagery. When the prisoners are seated with their backs to the fire, they are satisfying the desires of their appetite by looking at the mere shadows and treating those as genuine objects. When freed to turn around and face the actual bonfire, puppets, and their operators, the blessed prisoner has now been drawn closer to truth. Upon ascending from the cave, the individual experiences a painful process of adapting to the illumination of the sun (lower forms) and ultimately comes into direct visual contact with the sun, which is a metaphor of the 'Good'. He gains knowledge of the ultimate truth –– the form of the good –– and experiences ultimate pleasure as a result. A most basic condition in this intriguing metaphor is that the prisoner puts his mind and reasoning in charge because it is the only method enabling him to perceive of the Good. Plato proceeds to explain that a person can attain the greatest happiness as long as his spirit and appetite follow the guidance of wisdom, which identifies proper and productive pleasure. It is only rational and obvious that letting the man (reason) be in control of the lion (spirit) and the many–headed monster (appetite) would lead to prosperity and fulfillment ... • 29. Harold And Maude Character Analysis Warren Buffett once said "It takes 20 years to build a reputation and five minutes to ruin it. If you think about that, you will do things differently." The simplicity and accuracy of this quote may make a person deeply question how they decide to react to what life gives them. In the movie Harold and Maude, Harold is displayed as an odd boy who has a strange habit of enjoying to portray death, but only to get a reaction from his mother. Harold did not always have this desire to scare his mother, but one day when his mother was told of his "death" he enjoyed the reaction so much it changed how he lived life. Warren Buffett may argue that Harold spent his entire life building a reputation for himself, but everything changed in less... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... People similar to myself may be considered goody–two–shoes, if that is still a relevant saying. I think about my past and there has never been a time when I deliberately wanted to bend the rules or felt comfortable doing so. I consider myself a classical person. I enjoy understanding the mechanics behind working systems, but find it hard to be spontaneous and go with the flow of things. I feel as if the classical kind of person is more likely to struggle living an anti–authoritarianism lifestyle due to the fact that for underlying objects to work there must be structure. An example in reference to ZAMM may be the common topic of motorcycles. John is very much pleased with his BMW because he loves the aesthetics. The outer shell, or aesthetic, may be considered an authority. While the narrator of ZAMM may be more intrigued with the underlying functions of the motorcycle, if there is no outer shell to hold and protect it then the motorcycle will likely not be functioning. Similarly, if a classical minded person, like myself, were to attempt to remove authority from my life I may malfunction. My grades may drop because I have given up making specific scheduled time to do homework, which would ultimately lead to a loss in career opportunities in the future. However, I am aware that not all people are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 30. Reflection of My Environmental Studies Trip to Hawaii Essay Over the years of my high school life I have had to cope and deal with various amounts of difficult obstacles that have, to some extent, held me back from reaching my goals. Over this last summer I struggled, but made it through the toughest thing I've ever experienced. I went on an environmental studies trip to the Hawaiian Islands that while was the most memorable, influential experience I've ever been able to accomplish, was still extremely challenging and completely different from my laid–back lifestyle. In order to go on this trip I was required to write 5 essays on different topics that are currently popular issues in Hawaii. This was quite a strenuous task for me because I've never had a strong gift in writing. But there was also a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Jumping off of a rocky forty foot cliff is one of those risky accomplishments I can say I overcame during my months' venture. Towards the end of the trip I even went on a 17 mile kayak trip around the beautiful Napali Coast. Events like this gave me a newfound confidence in myself and my abilities to go into frightening and unfamiliar situations with an optimistic outlook on how I will get through them. Not only did this trip give me amazing insight on the unique characteristics of Hawaii, but it also taught me the skills needed to accommodate and thrive in a new environment. Time management was one of these necessities required for maintaining a balance between work and play. Before I went on this trip I was unaware of what it would be like to have to deal with the daily responsibilities that aren't usually present in a typical teenage life. Living with complete strangers and no longer having a parent's support can be a tremendous change in a person's life. Having a sneak peek into that was exceptionally helpful in making me aware of the future to come. These discoveries will be useful upon my move to college where I will be living independently for the first time. I was able to experience an unbelievable trip to somewhere incredible and completely different from the rest of the world. Most people do not get a chance to partake in something like this in their lifetime, and I feel very lucky to have been involved in it, and extremely thankful for the change that it ... • 31. Maggie And Dee In the short story, "Everyday Use," Alice Walker uses her contrasting characters of Maggie and Dee to show a cultural split. Dee, the eldest daughter, comes home to visit her family who lives a very traditional way of life. Dee has gone to college and lives a more modernist lifestyle, whereas her sister Maggie has not gone to school and lives a more traditionalist lifestyle. This difference between the sisters shows the division in the 1960's between a traditionalist and modernist lifestyle through her characters Maggie and Dee. During the 1960s some African–Americans began to replace their birth names with names of African or Muslim descent, but what was the reason behind this change? In his article, "Destroying to Save: Idealism and Pragmatism ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This appreciation also leads to Dee changing not only her lifestyle, but several other things such as her apparel and name; which is described as "stereotypically African." However, Dee's new–found appreciation does seem, like Hakims, to be more of a fad. In Diane Ross's article, "Everyday Use," she states, "To Dee, artifacts such as the benches or the quilts are strictly aesthetic objects. It never occurs to her that they, too, are symbols of oppression: Her family made these things because they could not afford to buy them" (Ross ). This shows, unlike her sister Maggie, Dee's perception of the quilts are strictly aesthetic and artistic pieces that reflect African Heritage. Dee never considers they may represent oppression themselves and it makes her seem as though she wants them solely just to show off. In addition, Ross goes on to state, "Her admiration for them now seems to reflect a cultural trend toward valuing handmade objects, rather than any sincere interest in her "heritage." After all, when she was offered a quilt before she went away to college, she rejected it as "old–fashioned, out of style" (Ross ). This shows that Dee's change to a modernist lifestyle was influenced through a cultural trend. This also alludes to when Dee rejected a quilt before she went to college, but now that she has discovered the cultural trend of college, she wants one. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Allowing himself to be pulled into this world says a lot about the author's character: it is almost as if he is vulnerable, and this vulnerability in some cases can be seen as a weakness. However, this vulnerable act allowed him to find himself and strengthen his previous beliefs and attitude. According to Aristotle, authors have an ethical obligation to have a strong ethos: this entails authors to have intelligence, rectitude, and goodwill, and Covington expresses this throughout his entire memoir. Even though, at the beginning he does not understand their behavior, and after he is embarrassed and virtually kicked out of the society, he is able to write the truth about the handlers with the utmost respect. Yes, he exposes many aspects of the handlers' lives, but he does so in a respectful and journalistic manner: it is clear that the information he divulges is essential to the reader understanding the true meaning of his argument. The author does not purposely try to portray these people in the best light possible, but rather the most ingenuous way. He demonstrates his goodwill by remaining impartial during most of the memoir: occasionally he allows his emotions to effect his depiction of the characters; however, this is almost impossible to achieve, because he interacted with these people and was reacting to certain situations. Covington writes this memoir for many reasons: he writes in order publicize this exclusive ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Customer Profile Research Paper : Upscale Success Customer Profile Research Paper Upscale Success The bridge market segment consists of a type of person that society has grown to see as a respectable and reputable breed of human being. Along with a sophisticated mindset, the typical women in the bridge market have a certain control of their life that is considered very admirable and successful among peers. In the life of these women, the goal is to race against time to do everything required of them, all while looking their best and keeping their composure. To the average woman, these women have "superhero" written all over them. Where many are moms, housewives, and career powerhouses, all in one, the life of a woman in an upscale world never seems to stop. With bridge defined as, "...the gap between contemporary and designer labels. . ." (Fasanella, 2009) stretching to make the combination of "normal woman" and "admirable social butterfly" is no easy feat at the end of anyone's day. Lifestyle Although the lifestyle of these women may vary person to person, the general consensus seems to stereotype them to be socialites who work hard on the weekdays while holding together a family simultaneously. These women earn their playtime after long hours holding together a company. Women in this market run between the ages of 30–50 and usually are well established in their careers. Their occupations generally range into the higher reaches of the companies they work for, be they in politics or business, they don't go unnoticed. Given ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

She is the wife of a New Orleans businessman. She is not content with her marriage and the lifestyle that she must conform to. She changes from her role as a devoted wife and mother to a woman who becomes engrossed in discovering her own identity. She then goes through a series of experiences to satisfy herself mentally, emotionally, and sexually. She changes from the woman of those times, who always stuck to conformity, to someone who worries and is only responsible for herself. It is Mademoiselle who influences her to become awakened in such a way. However this very awakening will be her downfall. She will then begin to isolate herself from those around her and eventually choose suicide as an escape. A main factor towards the development of Edna would be Mademoiselle Reiz. Her influence plays a vital role towards her awakening and change to her life style. From the moment she heard Reiz play she had begun to be influenced. "The very first chords Mademoiselle Reisz struck on the piano sent a keen tremor down Mrs. Pontellier's spinal column. It was not the first time she had heard an artist at the piano. Perhaps it was the first time she was ready, perhaps the first time her being was tempered to take an impress of the abiding truth." (Chopin 29) . • 36. Soccer Benefits Soccer has been played for nearly three thousand years and is considered the world's most popular sport. The sport is regularly seen as a hobby however for me it is a pleasant method for learning long lasting lessons. I was introduced to soccer when I was ten years old. I started by playing street soccer and afterward I proceeded to playing on an actual league. As I gradually got better at soccer I picked up abilities that I would use in everyday life. As I had stated, soccer is very popular but why are the benefits unheard of? Why are parents not being told at all? Soccer is vital for children. Children who play soccer experience lifelong benefits such as the building of social skills, discipline, and a healthier lifestyle. One benefit that children gain from playing soccer is they build social skills. For example, being able to communicate with the team is essential. When I first started I was very shy. I did not communicate and the effect was I performed terribly on the field. Once I learned to communicate I effectively played better. These skills also benefited me outside of the sport and I was able to make friends effortlessly and be more comfortable with myself. Being able to communicate also helps by being able to work as a team. Teamwork is critical because one itself cannot score a goal on its own. Being able to depend on someone helped me work smoothly. I was also able to perform even better than if I were to work alone on the field or on any other tasks. Social ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I made my living as an artist and professional musician and my wife was in the corporate arena; not exactly pre–requisite experience for living off the grid. Successfully changing from an urban/suburban way of living to a rural self–sufficient life is first and foremost a conscious and committed change of lifestyle. The answer is yes: the same lifestyle changes that might have prevented your diabetes can help you to treat it. As important as lifestyle is in causing diabetes, it may be even more important in treating type diabetes, as well as diabetes. Diabetes is unique chronic disease, affected by virtually every aspect of lifestyle, including eating, physical activity, and school, work, and travel schedule. Conversely, all of these activities are affected by diabetes. While many diseases require attention to taking prescribed medications, diabetes demands constant attention and vigilance with regard no timing and content of meals and physical activity, glucose monitoring, administration of numerous medications including insulin, foot care, and a host of other self–care requirements. And diabetes can be a petulant, jealous companion; if you ignore your care, even for a little while, it will make you pay with uncomfortable and potentially dangerous hyperglycemia or hypoglycemia. And if you don't pay attention to the myriad details of care over a long period of time, the penalty can be much more severe with loss of vision, kidney failure, foot ulcers, amputations and heart disease. On the bright side, during the past two decades, clinical trials have shown us that persons with diabetes can live long, productive, and complication–free lives. Studies in diabetes have demonstrated how to achieve near–normal blood–glucose levels. In addition, we have developed effective interventions to lower blood pressure and cholesterol levels in people with diabetes. The consequence of such "tight" glucose, blood pressure, and cholesterol control is improved long term health. Blood–sugar levels maintained in the near normal range over ... Good health is an essential pre–requisite for the persistent and adequate functioning of an individual and a society. Health of an individual is an essential requirement for carrying out day to day activities. Physical non–wellbeing is a problem not only for an individual but also for a society. A sick person's primary concern is to maintain physical wellbeing of his body. Other pursuits of life become secondary to him. Therefore, as Rene DuBos (1981) explains, health can be defined as the ability to work.
