7 HARDEST SONGS TO SING
Narrator: Songs are words set to music and meant to be sung. Some people are born with innate
abilities to sing well that amaze and melt our hearts. But not all people just find it easy in fact even
talented singers also find some songs that are difficult to sing. In this video, I will reveal 7 hardest
songs to sing. No 7. Over the Rainbow Over the Rainbow is a song by Judy Garland. This song is
difficult in a way that the singer will simply sing this ballad with enough emotions to enthral the
audience and take them with the journey. It's not technical versatility that makes it difficult. My
mother made an impressive latte art with food colors. She calls it coffee rainbows. No 6. I will

No 4. Loving You Loving You is a classic soul genre of Minnie Riperton under the album, Perfect

No 3. Wuthering Heights Wuthering Heights by Kate Bush is one of the hardest songs to sing
because of the key changes, the transition to the chorus and the signature changes. To sing this song
well, your voice must suit to this song with balance and power or else you may end up sounding like

Symbolism In Don T You Cry For Me By Songwriter Cobi
Songs, used to create messages, give singers the ability to speak about concerns that are relevant in
the current everyday life. A powerful ways songwriters achieve this is by applying the use of
imagery. Lyricists use this help readers of literary works to understand specific ideas that the writer
is trying to convey. By using symbolism in songs, singers can discuss issues in ways that connect
with the listener on a deeper level. Using this method in songwriting is crucial when discussing
important subjects; influencing the public in a way that is not direct and more effective. In " Don't
You Cry For Me," songwriter Cobi uses repeated images of trees and individuals hanging as
metaphors for his feelings towards facing injustice. It is through ... Show more content on

Cobi has created an overall central theme of injustice throughout the song–seeing injustice, the
unease of acting against it, and finally doing something about it. The way Cobi has written the song
puts great emphasis on how important it is to him. He wants listeners to take the matter of suicide
seriously so he includes darker visions of people being hanged. Being a serious topic he avoids
colloquialism and mainly uses metaphors to express the meaning. Witnessing how relevant injustice
is, Cobi comments on how others react to it observing, "I've seen an ocean run away." He notices
how many people (ocean being a Synecdoche for people) have "run away" and do not help, which
emphasizes the repeated lyric, "please help me chop this tree down," indicating that the effort to
help must be shared. Through this symbolism, Cobi is speaking to the listener and pleads for them to
assist as well. This tree represents the injustice in the world that he wants to fight. By taking action
against it, people can interpret the gravel being paved as a reference to a new beginning of hope. He
uses mental images to reach people on a deeper level, which connects to people's imagination and
inspires them.
The imagery in song lyrics is important when introducing a message; if one's goal is to offer
reflection to the listener. In "Don't You Cry For Me", Cobi achieves this through his mass use of
metaphors, the extensive images of the tree and hanging are elements that are key in conveying his
messages of fear, redemption, and injustice. This song directs listeners to stand up and not be afraid
to fight for what they believe, in a way that can connect to them emotionally. The imagery in songs
offers reflection into topics that are personal for each

Songs From The North Poem Analysis
The narrator finds comfort and peace in silence and stillness of nature, similarly as in "Songs from
the North". In both examples the narrator seems to already be "here" insinuating that the longing is
in fact not tied to any specific place but time. The narrator has reached the tranquility of mind where
the pain is no longer, but in his hopefulness he is realistic that the relief is only temporary. The
narrator seems to be longing the present moment even before it is gone, thus making him pre–
nostalgic that is evoked by the transience nature of life. Similarly as in "The Heart of a Cold White
Land", in "Away" the use of juxtaposition of light and dark characterize the different feelings of the
narrator. Light seems to refer to hope and relief whereas dark relates to feelings of pain and fear.
The last example of longing is also the last song of the triple album, "The Clouds Prepare for
Battle". The lyrics represent longing from a different angle than in earlier examples. The narrator is
returning home, thus he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In song "The Gathering of the Black Moths" has experienced loss of loved ones that in turn causes
him to the loss of hope. Similarly in "7 Hours Late" the lyrics describe the narrator's loss of his
father but also the loss of hope as his father will never return. In "Heartstrings Shattering" the
narrator relives the loss of a loved one every time he remembers her. Also in "Room and Shadows"
the narrator has lost loved ones and that loss has caused great pain and sorrow for him. As
exemplified by these four song lyrics, death circles around the concept of melancholy. As Edgar
Allan Poe has stated "of all melancholy topics what, according to the universal understanding of all
mankind, is the most melancholy? Death was the obvious reply" (Poe 1846:

Comparison of Two Different Song Lyrics
The paper will focus on comparing two different songs by discussing their context and highlighting
the similarities and differences between both chosen songs. The comparison will be based on the
background information for each song as well as peripheral information about the albums. The
comparison will also include any contextual similarities and differences between the songs. The two
chosen songs for the comparison are: 'Woodstock' by Joni Mitchell and 'The Times They Are a–
Changin' by Bob Dylan.
To start things off, we will discuss the similarities. There are three that jump right off the page: one,
both these songs were first released in the third album of the respective artists; two, both songs were
released in the 1960s decade; and three, both songs were formatted along 7" diameter i.e. both were
phonograph records.
The dissimilarities are such that both songs were sung from different artist with a gap in the release
date of five years. Furthermore, the background information and context in which both songs were
written was very different. For instance, Woodstock was written by Mitchell to primarily designate
the importance and significance of the Woodstock Music and Art Festival that was held back in
1969. The second song chosen here The Times They Are a–Changin' was written by Bob Dylan
purely based on the inspiration he got from the civil rights movement at the time and how those
movements were every close and aptly covered by the folk music and songs during the

Theme Across Genres Essay
Chapter 2– Theme Across Different Genres
It has become a daily conflict for most people in the world to experience or witness discrimination
of another race, gender, identity, or appearance of someone else. What people don't realize is that
just because someone may appear or identify different, doesn't mean they are at a lower or higher
status than you. I grew up in a very diverse area. My elementary school had a program for students
learning English who came from outside of the United States. There were hundreds of students from
other countries at my school, which helped me build up a confidence that I should be proud to be
different, because nobody at my school was the exact same. Diversity is something that every person
should be proud ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The song lyrics in "Where is the Love" relate to what Catherine learns about accepting Jason and
David's differences. The lyrics say that if you only love your own kind, then you only have space to
hate others. Catherine learns that the whole world isn't like the OT clinic where differences don't
matter, and that there will be people who aren't as aware of others' differences. Both texts also show
no matter what someone else thinks doesn't mean that you have to think that same way. Towards the
end of Rules, Kristi shows that she was weirded out by the fact that Catherine's friend was in a
wheelchair and couldn't talk. In "Where is the Love", it says that no matter how much madness you
show, it's not going to change the thoughts of someone else. No matter how much a person strongly
dislikes someone elses differences, they will not change and there is nothing that person can do to
change those differences to their liking, and that's what makes us all unique. Both texts show that
you can't change a person because of your own opinion, and we have to accept that. Just because the
person next to you appears different and isn't exactly like you, doesn't mean you have the rights to
bother them about their differences, because you can't change them and they are in fact, no different

Censorship In Music
Music is an expressive, vivid form of art. The influence of music has a huge impact with every age
group in the world. When people think of music they automatically think of how it makes them feel
which most of the time is good. They don't comprehend the provocative lyrics or what the song's
meaning really is. People have become used to this insulting and offensive language found on just
about any song. Every song being released today contains some sort of graphical, sexual, or explicit
lyric. Today's graphic music encourages violence, degradation of women , and influences young
children negatively. First of all, censoring graphic, explicit, and sexual lyrics may preserve children's
innocence until their parents think it is time to discuss ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Karen Dill, author of "Violent rap lyrics make listeners more accepting of violence", states: "Radio
personality Don Imus referred to a college women's basketball team as nappy–headed ho's". Dill
also argues, " ... many responded that the racist and sexist language was acceptable because the type
of language is used by minorities in rap music". Rap music has made their own image of what
women are in their eyes and this has caused others to treat females a certain way. Women have
always been portrayed as weak, feisty, helpless, property, and more. Females start to believe this
about themselves having low self–esteem, not wanting to be in relationships, and thinking they
aren't good enough. In reality, they might not feel that way, but that's how they are talked about in
music so they believe they need to be that way. According to the author of "The public should
criticize violent music lyrics," women are objectified, often in the most obscene and degrading ways
"(Brownback). For example, "Wildflower" by Ghostface Killah had a very set way on how they
described women. The song is full of disgusting comments towards women calling her a "bitch",
"stank hoe", "dumb bitch", and "a chickenhead hoe" (Ghostface Killah). Ghostface Killah also
brings up him cheating on her and how he had sexual relations with her while she was bleeding. The
lyrics used in this song are meant to bring

Lay Me Up Analysis
Music has existed for centuries, but its origin is unclear. However, the music that we do know of and
have listened to through many eras, has impacted countless lives. For there to be a list of only one
thousand songs of the possible billions is a demanding task. If I were to be given this task I know
exactly which song I would choose without a single moment of hesitation. Of all the incredible and
iconic songs ever produced, "Lay Me Down" by Sam Smith is one song that is worthy of being on
the top one thousand songs list, because its notes and melodies harmonize effortlessly, its lyrics
speak words of true compassion, and it has significant societal importance.
In my opinion, a song can not be described as a jumble of noises and words put together, as a song is
so much more. It is truly a sequence of melodies, harmonies and vocals that work together to create
a masterpiece. This idea is clearly demonstrated in Sam Smith's masterpiece, "Lay Me Down". At
the very beginning of the song, soft yet prominent notes of piano can be heard in the background, as
Sam Smith's falsetto voice sings the song lyrics gently. When he does this it creates a very quiet and
intimate effect. As the song progresses, slight hints of drums are added and the tempo begins to pick
up. The lyrics are then sung with plenty of power and strength at the bridge, to accompany the
moving instrumentals. The beautiful ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

words sung by Sam Smith are undeniably poetic, and the themes expressed by this song are
significant in society today and always will be. There are an abundance of different songs to choose
from that have the opportunity of earning a spot on a top one thousand song list. But it is evident
that Lay Me Down merits the top spot on a list that is meant for those who have a taste in music that

Negative Effects Of Music Essay
Kristian David Olson once said, "Music is an important and extremely useful tool in the way we
learn and to deny its power is a waste of a truly wonderful resource." Indeed, music is one of the
most powerful forms of influence and has not failed to impact society at any age. Music is one of the
oldest art forms to impact culture and has been around before anyone can remember. On average,
people listen to hours of music a day, whether as background noise or as an enjoyable activity.
Therefore, it is not surprising the impact music has made on society. Music has been an influential
force for how humans think, act, and even positively affecting our intelligence. Music speaks to the
soul and that is why it is so influential to culture. Therefore, music has affected the lives of everyone
in one way or another and how they have become. Music plays an important role to all ages and
makes life better for them. It is known to help with health and mental health, intelligence social
interactions, and even has positive effects on the brain. However, to every good side there is a bad
side, including music which involves vulgar lyrics about violence, explicit content, drug use, and
music videos with negative impacts.
Moreover, because of musics great influence, it can also cause negative impacts on society. Drugs,
sex, alcohol, and violence are more commonly heard in songs today than they have before. Rap
music is a common genre where those explicit lyrics about racism, violence, homophobia, sexual
language, and hatred towards women take place. For instance, from the band Immortal Technique an
extremely violent lyric from their song "Dance with the Devil" read "The shirt covered her face, but
she screamed and clawed/ So Billy stomped on the b***h, until he broke her jaw" (Ettelson). The
lyric goes on in detail of how the guy in the song, Billy, killed this innocent woman by beating her
to death to demonstrate how heartless he was so that he could move up in the drug game. Another
song about brutally abusing a woman would be The Convicts f/ Choices song called "Whoop Her
A**" where a lyric reads "Slammed her to the flo' and s**t/ Then started beatin the b***h with a
solid wood clobber stick/" (Ettelson). The lyric goes on

Worst Song Lyrics: New Kids On The Block
Worst Song Lyrics: Lyrics evoke imagery within a song. From the way the word is enunciated to the
volume at which the word is expressed, the listener is being encouraged to visualize the lyricist's
emotion. Lyrics with depth can be especially evocative, conjuring positive or negative imagery that
synthesizes the songwriter's sentiment in a listener's mind. Shallow lyrics do the opposite: they fail
to fortify the author's sentiment, often because there is no coherent, well–thought–out expression of
emotion. Therefore, shallow lyrics are the worst song lyrics. Shallow lyrics that fail to evoke much
thought can be detrimental to a listener's intellectual health. Many developed countries have seen

than just confusing banter, they carried the depths of despair or altitudes of happiness the lyricist
was experiencing. Like "I'll tell you just how much a dollar cost/The price of having a spot in
Heaven, embrace your loss" from Kendrick Lamar's How much a dollar cost. After months of
analyzing what Lamar was trying to express in this lyric I wondered if a dollar goes toward drugs or
overly flashy material goods, is it really worth anything? I understood that Lamar felt as if his greed
over money was causing him to lose touch with what was right. Which ultimately caused me to

Analysis of Song Lyrics
Song lyrics: looking through the window of cultural texts...
If you took the time to listen to the lyrics of a song instead of mumbling uselessly to the catchy
melody, you'd notice that some bands and musical artists are informing their audience of present–
time themes and issues. In today's society, song lyrics can be used effectively to find fault with
many dominant values and attitudes, somewhat protesting against social issues and the preconceived
ideas that stand tall on the stage of democracy. This is why song lyrics should be considered one of
the most important cultural texts of the modern age. The songs Sunday Bloody Sunday by the band
U2 and Hurricane by artist Bob Dylan substantiate ideas of equality and "justice for all", ... Show

As a listener who lives in the twenty–first century, where cases of legal dishonesty and fraud are
quite rare, I find myself sympathising with Rubin Carter and resenting the heartless and ignorant
attitude possessed by 1960s America and society. In retrospect, I am extremely grateful that a fair
and just trial is now available to everyone, regardless of skin colour. When the song comes to an
end, the image painted in the listener's mind is that of injustice and tyranny, encouraging social
change in the area of legality. Nonetheless, U2's Sunday Bloody Sunday presents the ignorance and
indifference of society in times of great need.
It seems that a sad face served with "what a tragedy" and seasoned with taste of genuine sincerity is
our best response when the TV screen shows an image of dead bodies strewn across a dead end
street... U2's Sunday Bloody Sunday is a protest song that provides a dominant reading,
investigating the ignorant and indifferent attitude exhibited by society towards the Bloody Sunday
incident in Northern Ireland. A quote from the text highlights the 1970s unawareness of this event,
and other acts of conflict across the world, "And today the millions cry, We eat and drink while
tomorrow they die". As well as making use of a hyperbole, these two lines are very effective in
criticising the lack of care that society has for anyone but themselves, and as a result, depicts us as
arrogant and self–righteous. Because we can't empathise

A Rhetorical Analysis Of Love Song Lyrics
Romance song lyrics are the most popular subject matter for songwriters because they are easily
relatable and bring up nostalgic memories. Often, love song lyrics are written from experience about
lost or unrequited love and trigger sentimental feelings that make listeners want to put them on
replay. The common written genre I am analyzing is song lyrics for love songs. It is important to pay
attention to this genre because a significant number of people listen to music every day but most
likely do not know the true message of the songs. They are often simple enough for the audience,
often teenagers or young adults who can relate more to these lyrics, to know every word – even
middle schoolers can understand the lyrics. Love song lyrics give a personal opinion on the
composer's love life: Sam Smith reveals his confession and unrequited love in "Leave Your Lover"
and Adele examines the acceptance stage of a breakup in "Someone Like You". By analyzing
Adele's and Sam Smith's choices of words, tone, and expression in their songs "Someone Like You"
and "Leave Your Lover," I will discuss the specific topics, structure, and diction of song lyrics in
romance songs, and then use Adele's and Smith's lyrics to talk about the rhetorical situations to show
how people employ these pieces of writing. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sam Smith has gone through so many painful occurrences in his life and, unlike many other people
who hide their sexuality, is not afraid to reveal them to his audience with a sentimental tone. Smith
opens up that he is gay in his chorus, "Leave your lover, leave him for me" (Smith) and wants to be
with the other man. Smith repeats "leave" to indicate that he wants to be with the lover, not for the
woman to leave her man for Smith. By coming out with his true identity, Smith's audience trusts in
him more as honesty creates the most genuine

Music Video : The Suburbs
The music video I've chosen for my music video analysis essay is "The Suburbs". "The Suburbs"
was released 1 June 2010 by the Canadian indie–rock band known as Arcade Fire and was a single
from the album The Suburbs. What's cool about this music video is that the video footage used for
the song is just scenes taken from a short film called "Scenes from the Suburbs." "The Suburbs"
revolves around a group of teens. At first these teens are riding their bikes and playing in what
seems to be some suburbs. As the video progresses the suburbs seem to get more and more
dangerous as men with guns appear and people are dragged from their homes.
The video starts off with a group of friends riding their bikes and playing in the suburbs. The sun is
out and it looks to be about midday. The weather looks to be about eighty degrees with only a few
clouds out. This represents the cliché suburban life for these teens. However, the teens start noticing
the decay of their suburban life at 1:20. They see smoke from what I assume to be an explosion far
away with what looks like an attack helicopter heading towards it. This scene is only for a couple of
seconds though, as the teens continue to play afterwards. At 1:53 you see a boy and a girl from the
group of friends about to kiss, representing again the suburban life of teens falling in love and
having fun without much worry. The video then switches between the teens playing and men with
rifles in army uniforms, wearing black masks patrolling

Music Censorship Is Not Possible Without The Color Red And...
This statement is very impactful in how he uses the example of painting the American flag, it's not
possible without the color red and for artists to not be able to write songs using their past
experiences that isn't quite possible either. Another limitation of music censorship is that lyrics are
poetry and are filled with double meanings so what may be obscene to one person may be perfectly
acceptable to another. John Denver testified at the 1985 hearing of the PMRC stating that his song
"Rocky Mountain High", which had previously been banned on many radio stations thinking it was
about drugs, was actually about the beauty of the nature and the mountains in Colorado (Rabkin).
Another example of lyrics with double meanings is the song ... Show more content on

Ten to thirty percent of the students gave the "correct" interpretations of the songs while twenty to
sixty percent gave incorrect or vague responses. The remainder of students refused to answer
(Nuzum 64). The difference in interpretations between adults and teens can be shown through this
study and there is a reason for the difference. Interpretations can be caused by the fact that one's
understanding is limited to their knowledge on the topic. Greenfield conducted a study on four
different age groups: fourth, eighth, and twelfth graders and college students. Two songs, "Born in
the USA" by Bruce Springsteen and "Like a Virgin" by Madonna, were played for the participants.
Following each song they were asked to fill out a questionnaire. The questions asked about their
comprehension of both specific words in the lyrics and about the overall meaning. The results for
the understanding of Bruce Springsteen's song was low. After hearing the song entirely and seeing
certain excerpts on the questionnaire sixty percent of the overall sample couldn't answer the
questions regarding song content. Contrary to the title and refrain, the song is about the loss of hope
and resentment. The percentage of participants who understood the song's actual themes were very
low. Not one of the fourth graders could recognize the real theme, while only thirty percent of eighth
graders, forty percent of twelfth

Bipolar Disorder in Song Lyrics Essay
Songwriters write about their lives since their lyrics are a reflection of their personal experiences.
Often, a coping mechanism for dealing with a problem is to bring the issue out in the open. The lead
singer and song writer of alternative rock band Blue October, Justin Furstenfeld explains on a
suicide prevention video that he has "battled with bipolar disorder, psychiatric tendencies as well as
anxiety issues throughout much of his life and admits he self–harmed during his teenage years and
has reoccurring suicidal thoughts" (Freunde fürs Leben, 2010). Many songs that he wrote are about
his mental illness and problems he faced because of it. In the song X Amount of Words, Furstenfeld
clearly wrote this song about his mental ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Oh! (We're recording you)" (Furstenfeld, 2005). The feeling of being watched by someone is likened
to a phobia, an intense fear of someone which would be considered irrational by others. The line "I
never knew you till you left me with the crying disease" suggests a failed relationship led to major
depression (Furstenfeld, 2005). It is not made clear whether it was romantic interest or a family
member or friend but the wording may be intended to be very general. Further proof of Furstenfeld's
trouble with relationships is stated in the lyrics "Give me recipes for sorry I'm admitting I'm wrong",
which he blames his disorder on causing rifts in his relationships (Furstenfeld, 2005). Bipolar
disorder causes unusual mood changes so it would be fair to say that it is a factor. Biological Factors
Furstenfeld explains that bipolar disorder is a malfunction of the brain hence the lyrics "your brain is
faulty wiring" (Furstenfeld, 2005) and recognizes that there is a biological mechanism that causes
the disorder. According to Butcher, Hooley, and Mineka, "cortisol levels are higher in bipolar
disorder patients and evidence of mood changes are caused by abnormalities concerning the
hypothalamic–pituitary thyroid axis which

Essay About Song Lyrics
Have you ever had them days where you're so upset, but don't want to tell anyone about it? I
certainly have, and fortunately I found a way to express myself comfortablely; writing song lyrics.
This may sound cliche but writing lyrics has always been a big stress reliever for me when i'm
feeling rather down. According to my mom, when I was 4, I would hum when I was upset and by
age 6, I started writing song lyrics about how I was upset and why. I feel writing song lyrics has
helped me come a long way, but all of this may lead many of you to wonder, 'How do you write
song lyrics?' The idea of songwriting all ties back to one common interest, music. Song lyrics
wouldn't even exist if the idea of music wasn't created. Some of the first lyrics all originated from
thoughts about wars, the Great Depression, presidents, immigration, and much more. People would
mostly express their emotions, much like they do today, on events that occurred and had huge
impacts on people. The only difference between lyrics then and now is, back then lyrics were more

Lyrics in the music business have always been a popular 'trend' since music was first created. Music
was generally discovered by a male, which could be a shock to many but today, it's more common
for females to write songs. From a simple tune to paragraphs about a topic, song lyrics have come a
long way. Song lyrics started with very few genre types and now there's multiple! " Though music
evolved continually, the researchers identified three stylistic "revolutions" during which the change
from one year to the next was unusually large: Around 1964 (the era of British bands), 1983 (the
rock era) and 1991 (the era of mainstream hip hop)." (Huffington Post). Now, it seems as though

When I walk into life with innocence
I am told that there presists

But as I progress
My innocence fades away
And disappointment downs upon me

You want me to be free
But, with every step I take

In these two rap songs, "Ain't Nothin' But A Word To Me" by Too Short (feat. Ice Cube) (1996) and
"Bitch Ass Niggaz" by Dr. Dre (feat. Snoop Dogg, Hitman & Six–Two) (2001), explains how
women are gendered as sexualized objects that are disposed after use, and racializes the importance
of men's hegemonic masculinity. In this paper I will compare and contrast how women are described
as sexual, disposable trash, and men as cowards from the word "bitch." The concept of "Bitch" is
how a person (not necessarily a woman) is thoroughly disliked. In the first song by Too Short the
first verse, "She won't complain about shit because, she's my hoe" which he refers to women will

Similarities Between Song And Song Lyrics
Some people say that no song lyrics could ever be considered poetry as they are two different,
although I don't understand literature well I disagree. While it is true song lyrics and poetry are very
different in many ways they are also fairly similar and some literature is written in a way it could be
considered a poem or song lyrics. To support my claim I will tell how poems and song Lyrics are
similar, how they are different, and why I believe song lyrics could be poetry. Poems and song lyrics
are similar in the sense that they both always have a rhyme or rhythm. Poems and songs, both use
plenty of literary techniques, making them similar all the more. Zapruder writes "It seems absurd to
me to contend that lyrics inherently have less literary merit than poetry, or are easier to create, or are
less valuable in a cultural or human sense, and therefore somehow do not deserve the rarified title of
"poetry"" (3) both lyrics and poems have multiple different literary techniques and due to their
similarities I often have heard people say "if you can write a poem you can also write a song".
Although Poems are very similar they are also very different in the same way. Song lyrics are often
written to sound good when sung to satisfy the ear, however, Poems are made to look appealing to
the eye "If these rhymes look forced in print, they become whimsical in performance. To connect
words that do not fully rhyme" (4 Bradley). Poems are also often written with a very deep

Music Censorship Essay
Music Censorship
Healthy debates have been caused by today's music. Generally, foul language has rapidly increased
within modern popular song lyrics, especially among rap and heavy metal artists' songs. An increase
in explicit violence and misogyny in popular music lyrics has been recorded. These lyrics have been
judged to be inspirations for violent, suicidal, and criminal acts. For example, Mr. Raymond Kuntz
referred to his son's incident. ''When his wife went to wake their son for school, they found him dead
of a gunshot wound, still wearing his headphones with Marilyn Manson's Anti–Christ Superstar CD
still in the player. The boy's favorite song was ''The Reflecting God (Nina Crowley, ''Senate

Lauderdale, Florida. On June 8, 1990 he sold the '2 Live Crew' album, 'As Nasty as They Wanna
Be', to an undercover police officer and was arrested (Baris 4).'' The youth is obviously not fully
protected if storeowners do not follow the restrictions. The most popular music of children under the
age of twenty–one is rap and heavy metal, which are the two leading participants in the foul
language controversy (Volz 18). Knowing this, storeowners should heavily enforce the underage
laws. However, One American boy noted the ease of buying profane music albums in spite of his
age of fifteen years (Crowley). If storeowners continue to sell obscene heavy metal and rap music to
under aged children, then the society will only worsen.
I believe this foul music should be much further restricted from people that it could harm. The
younger citizens of America are most influenced by today's music; therefore the restriction levels
that have been placed upon it should be enforced. Obviously the laws are not yet strong enough to
deny young people of the possession of profane music.
Children still obtain ''stickered'' CD's, despite the child's age. If this awful music is available to
minors, society will not improve its youth's attitude. ''During the last decade or so in the United
States, many people have expressed concern that rap music – especially rap with violent or
misogynic lyrics – – is harmful to not only the youth of

heavily described: "Well, I won't give up on us, even if the skies get rough, I'm giving you all my

Figurative Language In The Song Lyrics Of A Song
Lyrics of a song often tells a story. This allows for the singer to express their emotions to connect
with their fans. There are many people that get hooked on to how the song is presented, this could be
the visual image like a video, the beat, or even the tone. Sometimes it can be confusing when we're
listening to our favorite song. We often get confused of what the song means until we read the
lyrics. "Resentment" is about infidelity in the relationship. Reading the stanza line by line is easier
breaking the song into pieces to figure out the meaning of the song, or what the singer is trying to
express. The writer used figurative languages representing her feelings in the song mostly simile.

Immobility. Don't come near me. I'll push you away. Don't ask why. That's just how I feel. I don't
ask for the skies to open anymore. I don't have the strength. Did you know, though, that the thread
has no points for the eye to rest for a bit? Just ends. I don't ask for the fairy that I was once looking

you. I'm not extravagant, either crappy nor mean. I'm just hurt. But i get tired that I have to hide all
the time. I'm tired of this mask.
I don't seek for essence anymore. And if I find it, do you think I'd get bored? Even if nothing fades
me. Even if I still hurt. Even if nothing fulfills me. I'll find the night I want to relax into, though.

Lyrics To The Song 'Door Of No Return'
"Door of no return" – Steel Pulse 1. At first when I start to listen to the song I feel a sense of
sadness. As the song goes on, however, I feel happy the person got back home. 2. The lyrics that I
didn't understand were "Light the torch and let Babylon burn." I understand that Babylon is
America, but do the lyrics mean that he is saying that he hopes America falls as a country? 3. The
story the lyrics tell is that a boy was taken from Goree Island as a slave. He fought for his freedom
and finally got it. 4. The lyrics that stand out most to me are "I have returned through the door of no
return on Goree Island." These lyrics say that it can be done and that you can become free. 7. I think
the intended audience for this song are the slaves or

7 Hardest Songs to Sing

  • 1. Lyrics To A Humorous Song 7 HARDEST SONGS TO SING Narrator: Songs are words set to music and meant to be sung. Some people are born with innate abilities to sing well that amaze and melt our hearts. But not all people just find it easy in fact even talented singers also find some songs that are difficult to sing. In this video, I will reveal 7 hardest songs to sing. No 7. Over the Rainbow Over the Rainbow is a song by Judy Garland. This song is difficult in a way that the singer will simply sing this ballad with enough emotions to enthral the audience and take them with the journey. It's not technical versatility that makes it difficult. My mother made an impressive latte art with food colors. She calls it coffee rainbows. No 6. I will always Love You The song "I will always Love You" is one ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Even talented singers find this song as one of the hardest to sing especially the chorus because it is not easy to hit the high note so other singers just change it the way they can handle. Balloons are scared of Pop music. No 4. Loving You Loving You is a classic soul genre of Minnie Riperton under the album, Perfect Angel released in 1974. It is necessary that you have the right voice for this song because only very few can pull off a falsetto most especially the smooth and tender. It is a song of technical articulation. No 3. Wuthering Heights Wuthering Heights by Kate Bush is one of the hardest songs to sing because of the key changes, the transition to the chorus and the signature changes. To sing this song well, your voice must suit to this song with balance and power or else you may end up sounding like wails. No 2. Dream On Dream On was written by Steven Tyler on and off for six years and sung by Aerosmith. This song is about hunger to be somebody and dream until dreams come true. It is considered as one of the hardest songs to sing because of the number of vocal slides and long notes. A headband makes music on my head. No 1. Bohemian ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Symbolism In Don T You Cry For Me By Songwriter Cobi Songs, used to create messages, give singers the ability to speak about concerns that are relevant in the current everyday life. A powerful ways songwriters achieve this is by applying the use of imagery. Lyricists use this help readers of literary works to understand specific ideas that the writer is trying to convey. By using symbolism in songs, singers can discuss issues in ways that connect with the listener on a deeper level. Using this method in songwriting is crucial when discussing important subjects; influencing the public in a way that is not direct and more effective. In " Don't You Cry For Me," songwriter Cobi uses repeated images of trees and individuals hanging as metaphors for his feelings towards facing injustice. It is through ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Cobi has created an overall central theme of injustice throughout the song–seeing injustice, the unease of acting against it, and finally doing something about it. The way Cobi has written the song puts great emphasis on how important it is to him. He wants listeners to take the matter of suicide seriously so he includes darker visions of people being hanged. Being a serious topic he avoids colloquialism and mainly uses metaphors to express the meaning. Witnessing how relevant injustice is, Cobi comments on how others react to it observing, "I've seen an ocean run away." He notices how many people (ocean being a Synecdoche for people) have "run away" and do not help, which emphasizes the repeated lyric, "please help me chop this tree down," indicating that the effort to help must be shared. Through this symbolism, Cobi is speaking to the listener and pleads for them to assist as well. This tree represents the injustice in the world that he wants to fight. By taking action against it, people can interpret the gravel being paved as a reference to a new beginning of hope. He uses mental images to reach people on a deeper level, which connects to people's imagination and inspires them. The imagery in song lyrics is important when introducing a message; if one's goal is to offer reflection to the listener. In "Don't You Cry For Me", Cobi achieves this through his mass use of metaphors, the extensive images of the tree and hanging are elements that are key in conveying his messages of fear, redemption, and injustice. This song directs listeners to stand up and not be afraid to fight for what they believe, in a way that can connect to them emotionally. The imagery in songs offers reflection into topics that are personal for each ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Songs From The North Poem Analysis The narrator finds comfort and peace in silence and stillness of nature, similarly as in "Songs from the North". In both examples the narrator seems to already be "here" insinuating that the longing is in fact not tied to any specific place but time. The narrator has reached the tranquility of mind where the pain is no longer, but in his hopefulness he is realistic that the relief is only temporary. The narrator seems to be longing the present moment even before it is gone, thus making him pre– nostalgic that is evoked by the transience nature of life. Similarly as in "The Heart of a Cold White Land", in "Away" the use of juxtaposition of light and dark characterize the different feelings of the narrator. Light seems to refer to hope and relief whereas dark relates to feelings of pain and fear. The last example of longing is also the last song of the triple album, "The Clouds Prepare for Battle". The lyrics represent longing from a different angle than in earlier examples. The narrator is returning home, thus he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In song "The Gathering of the Black Moths" has experienced loss of loved ones that in turn causes him to the loss of hope. Similarly in "7 Hours Late" the lyrics describe the narrator's loss of his father but also the loss of hope as his father will never return. In "Heartstrings Shattering" the narrator relives the loss of a loved one every time he remembers her. Also in "Room and Shadows" the narrator has lost loved ones and that loss has caused great pain and sorrow for him. As exemplified by these four song lyrics, death circles around the concept of melancholy. As Edgar Allan Poe has stated "of all melancholy topics what, according to the universal understanding of all mankind, is the most melancholy? Death was the obvious reply" (Poe 1846: ... • 9. Comparison of Two Different Song Lyrics The paper will focus on comparing two different songs by discussing their context and highlighting the similarities and differences between both chosen songs. The comparison will be based on the background information for each song as well as peripheral information about the albums. The comparison will also include any contextual similarities and differences between the songs. The two chosen songs for the comparison are: 'Woodstock' by Joni Mitchell and 'The Times They Are a– Changin' by Bob Dylan. To start things off, we will discuss the similarities. There are three that jump right off the page: one, both these songs were first released in the third album of the respective artists; two, both songs were released in the 1960s decade; and three, both songs were formatted along 7" diameter i.e. both were phonograph records. The dissimilarities are such that both songs were sung from different artist with a gap in the release date of five years. Furthermore, the background information and context in which both songs were written was very different. For instance, Woodstock was written by Mitchell to primarily designate the importance and significance of the Woodstock Music and Art Festival that was held back in 1969. The second song chosen here The Times They Are a–Changin' was written by Bob Dylan purely based on the inspiration he got from the civil rights movement at the time and how those movements were every close and aptly covered by the folk music and songs during the ... • 11. Theme Across Genres Essay Chapter 2– Theme Across Different Genres It has become a daily conflict for most people in the world to experience or witness discrimination of another race, gender, identity, or appearance of someone else. What people don't realize is that just because someone may appear or identify different, doesn't mean they are at a lower or higher status than you. I grew up in a very diverse area. My elementary school had a program for students learning English who came from outside of the United States. There were hundreds of students from other countries at my school, which helped me build up a confidence that I should be proud to be different, because nobody at my school was the exact same. Diversity is something that every person should be proud ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The song lyrics in "Where is the Love" relate to what Catherine learns about accepting Jason and David's differences. The lyrics say that if you only love your own kind, then you only have space to hate others. Catherine learns that the whole world isn't like the OT clinic where differences don't matter, and that there will be people who aren't as aware of others' differences. Both texts also show no matter what someone else thinks doesn't mean that you have to think that same way. Towards the end of Rules, Kristi shows that she was weirded out by the fact that Catherine's friend was in a wheelchair and couldn't talk. In "Where is the Love", it says that no matter how much madness you show, it's not going to change the thoughts of someone else. No matter how much a person strongly dislikes someone elses differences, they will not change and there is nothing that person can do to change those differences to their liking, and that's what makes us all unique. Both texts show that you can't change a person because of your own opinion, and we have to accept that. Just because the person next to you appears different and isn't exactly like you, doesn't mean you have the rights to bother them about their differences, because you can't change them and they are in fact, no different than ... • 24. No 6. Even talented singers find this song as one of the hardest to sing especially the chorus because it is not easy to hit the high note so other singers just change it the way they can handle.

  • 26. Censorship In Music Music is an expressive, vivid form of art. The influence of music has a huge impact with every age group in the world. When people think of music they automatically think of how it makes them feel which most of the time is good. They don't comprehend the provocative lyrics or what the song's meaning really is. People have become used to this insulting and offensive language found on just about any song. Every song being released today contains some sort of graphical, sexual, or explicit lyric. Today's graphic music encourages violence, degradation of women , and influences young children negatively. First of all, censoring graphic, explicit, and sexual lyrics may preserve children's innocence until their parents think it is time to discuss ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Karen Dill, author of "Violent rap lyrics make listeners more accepting of violence", states: "Radio personality Don Imus referred to a college women's basketball team as nappy–headed ho's". Dill also argues, " ... many responded that the racist and sexist language was acceptable because the type of language is used by minorities in rap music". Rap music has made their own image of what women are in their eyes and this has caused others to treat females a certain way. Women have always been portrayed as weak, feisty, helpless, property, and more. Females start to believe this about themselves having low self–esteem, not wanting to be in relationships, and thinking they aren't good enough. In reality, they might not feel that way, but that's how they are talked about in music so they believe they need to be that way. According to the author of "The public should criticize violent music lyrics," women are objectified, often in the most obscene and degrading ways "(Brownback). For example, "Wildflower" by Ghostface Killah had a very set way on how they described women. The song is full of disgusting comments towards women calling her a "bitch", "stank hoe", "dumb bitch", and "a chickenhead hoe" (Ghostface Killah). Ghostface Killah also brings up him cheating on her and how he had sexual relations with her while she was bleeding. The lyrics used in this song are meant to bring ... For there to be a list of only one thousand songs of the possible billions is a demanding task. If I were to be given this task I know exactly which song I would choose without a single moment of hesitation. Of all the incredible and iconic songs ever produced, "Lay Me Down" by Sam Smith is one song that is worthy of being on the top one thousand songs list, because its notes and melodies harmonize effortlessly, its lyrics speak words of true compassion, and it has significant societal importance. In my opinion, a song can not be described as a jumble of noises and words put together, as a song is so much more. It is truly a sequence of melodies, harmonies and vocals that work together to create a masterpiece. This idea is clearly demonstrated in Sam Smith's masterpiece, "Lay Me Down". At the very beginning of the song, soft yet prominent notes of piano can be heard in the background, as Sam Smith's falsetto voice sings the song lyrics gently. When he does this it creates a very quiet and intimate effect. As the song progresses, slight hints of drums are added and the tempo begins to pick up. The lyrics are then sung with plenty of power and strength at the bridge, to accompany the moving instrumentals. The beautiful ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 32. Negative Effects Of Music Essay Kristian David Olson once said, "Music is an important and extremely useful tool in the way we learn and to deny its power is a waste of a truly wonderful resource." Indeed, music is one of the most powerful forms of influence and has not failed to impact society at any age. Music is one of the oldest art forms to impact culture and has been around before anyone can remember. On average, people listen to hours of music a day, whether as background noise or as an enjoyable activity. Therefore, it is not surprising the impact music has made on society. Music has been an influential force for how humans think, act, and even positively affecting our intelligence. Music speaks to the soul and that is why it is so influential to culture. Therefore, music has affected the lives of everyone in one way or another and how they have become. Music plays an important role to all ages and makes life better for them. It is known to help with health and mental health, intelligence social interactions, and even has positive effects on the brain. However, to every good side there is a bad side, including music which involves vulgar lyrics about violence, explicit content, drug use, and music videos with negative impacts. Moreover, because of musics great influence, it can also cause negative impacts on society. Drugs, sex, alcohol, and violence are more commonly heard in songs today than they have before. Rap music is a common genre where those explicit lyrics about racism, violence, homophobia, sexual language, and hatred towards women take place. For instance, from the band Immortal Technique an extremely violent lyric from their song "Dance with the Devil" read "The shirt covered her face, but she screamed and clawed/ So Billy stomped on the b***h, until he broke her jaw" (Ettelson). The lyric goes on in detail of how the guy in the song, Billy, killed this innocent woman by beating her to death to demonstrate how heartless he was so that he could move up in the drug game. Another song about brutally abusing a woman would be The Convicts f/ Choices song called "Whoop Her A**" where a lyric reads "Slammed her to the flo' and s**t/ Then started beatin the b***h with a solid wood clobber stick/" (Ettelson). • 34. Worst Song Lyrics: New Kids On The Block Worst Song Lyrics: Lyrics evoke imagery within a song. From the way the word is enunciated to the volume at which the word is expressed, the listener is being encouraged to visualize the lyricist's emotion. Lyrics with depth can be especially evocative, conjuring positive or negative imagery that synthesizes the songwriter's sentiment in a listener's mind. Shallow lyrics do the opposite: they fail to fortify the author's sentiment, often because there is no coherent, well–thought–out expression of emotion. Therefore, shallow lyrics are the worst song lyrics. Shallow lyrics that fail to evoke much thought can be detrimental to a listener's intellectual health. After months of analyzing what Lamar was trying to express in this lyric I wondered if a dollar goes toward drugs or overly flashy material goods, is it really worth anything? If you took the time to listen to the lyrics of a song instead of mumbling uselessly to the catchy melody, you'd notice that some bands and musical artists are informing their audience of present– time themes and issues. In today's society, song lyrics can be used effectively to find fault with many dominant values and attitudes, somewhat protesting against social issues and the preconceived ideas that stand tall on the stage of democracy. This is why song lyrics should be considered one of the most important cultural texts of the modern age. As a listener who lives in the twenty–first century, where cases of legal dishonesty and fraud are quite rare, I find myself sympathising with Rubin Carter and resenting the heartless and ignorant attitude possessed by 1960s America and society. In retrospect, I am extremely grateful that a fair and just trial is now available to everyone, regardless of skin colour. When the song comes to an end, the image painted in the listener's mind is that of injustice and tyranny, encouraging social change in the area of legality. Nonetheless, U2's Sunday Bloody Sunday presents the ignorance and indifference of society in times of great need. It seems that a sad face served with "what a tragedy" and seasoned with taste of genuine sincerity is our best response when the TV screen shows an image of dead bodies strewn across a dead end street... U2's Sunday Bloody Sunday is a protest song that provides a dominant reading, investigating the ignorant and indifferent attitude exhibited by society towards the Bloody Sunday incident in Northern Ireland. A quote from the text highlights the 1970s unawareness of this event, and other acts of conflict across the world, "And today the millions cry, We eat and drink while tomorrow they die". As well as making use of a hyperbole, these two lines are very effective in criticising the lack of care that society has for anyone but themselves, and as a result, depicts us as arrogant and self–righteous. • 40. A Rhetorical Analysis Of Love Song Lyrics Romance song lyrics are the most popular subject matter for songwriters because they are easily relatable and bring up nostalgic memories. Often, love song lyrics are written from experience about lost or unrequited love and trigger sentimental feelings that make listeners want to put them on replay. The common written genre I am analyzing is song lyrics for love songs. It is important to pay attention to this genre because a significant number of people listen to music every day but most likely do not know the true message of the songs. They are often simple enough for the audience, often teenagers or young adults who can relate more to these lyrics, to know every word – even middle schoolers can understand the lyrics. Love song lyrics give a personal opinion on the composer's love life: Sam Smith reveals his confession and unrequited love in "Leave Your Lover" and Adele examines the acceptance stage of a breakup in "Someone Like You". By analyzing Adele's and Sam Smith's choices of words, tone, and expression in their songs "Someone Like You" and "Leave Your Lover," I will discuss the specific topics, structure, and diction of song lyrics in romance songs, and then use Adele's and Smith's lyrics to talk about the rhetorical situations to show how people employ these pieces of writing. ... • 42. Music Video : The Suburbs The music video I've chosen for my music video analysis essay is "The Suburbs". "The Suburbs" was released 1 June 2010 by the Canadian indie–rock band known as Arcade Fire and was a single from the album The Suburbs. What's cool about this music video is that the video footage used for the song is just scenes taken from a short film called "Scenes from the Suburbs." "The Suburbs" revolves around a group of teens. At first these teens are riding their bikes and playing in what seems to be some suburbs. As the video progresses the suburbs seem to get more and more dangerous as men with guns appear and people are dragged from their homes. The video starts off with a group of friends riding their bikes and playing in the suburbs. The sun is out and it looks to be about midday. The weather looks to be about eighty degrees with only a few clouds out. This represents the cliché suburban life for these teens. However, the teens start noticing the decay of their suburban life at 1:20. They see smoke from what I assume to be an explosion far away with what looks like an attack helicopter heading towards it. This scene is only for a couple of seconds though, as the teens continue to play afterwards. At 1:53 you see a boy and a girl from the group of friends about to kiss, representing again the suburban life of teens falling in love and having fun without much worry. The video then switches between the teens playing and men with rifles in army uniforms, wearing black masks patrolling ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This statement is very impactful in how he uses the example of painting the American flag, it's not possible without the color red and for artists to not be able to write songs using their past experiences that isn't quite possible either. Another limitation of music censorship is that lyrics are poetry and are filled with double meanings so what may be obscene to one person may be perfectly acceptable to another. John Denver testified at the 1985 hearing of the PMRC stating that his song "Rocky Mountain High", which had previously been banned on many radio stations thinking it was about drugs, was actually about the beauty of the nature and the mountains in Colorado (Rabkin). Another example of lyrics with double meanings is the song ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Ten to thirty percent of the students gave the "correct" interpretations of the songs while twenty to sixty percent gave incorrect or vague responses. The remainder of students refused to answer (Nuzum 64). The difference in interpretations between adults and teens can be shown through this study and there is a reason for the difference. Interpretations can be caused by the fact that one's understanding is limited to their knowledge on the topic. Greenfield conducted a study on four different age groups: fourth, eighth, and twelfth graders and college students. Two songs, "Born in the USA" by Bruce Springsteen and "Like a Virgin" by Madonna, were played for the participants. Following each song they were asked to fill out a questionnaire. The questions asked about their comprehension of both specific words in the lyrics and about the overall meaning. The results for the understanding of Bruce Springsteen's song was low. After hearing the song entirely and seeing certain excerpts on the questionnaire sixty percent of the overall sample couldn't answer the questions regarding song content. • 48. Bipolar Disorder in Song Lyrics Essay Songwriters write about their lives since their lyrics are a reflection of their personal experiences. Often, a coping mechanism for dealing with a problem is to bring the issue out in the open. The lead singer and song writer of alternative rock band Blue October, Justin Furstenfeld explains on a suicide prevention video that he has "battled with bipolar disorder, psychiatric tendencies as well as anxiety issues throughout much of his life and admits he self–harmed during his teenage years and has reoccurring suicidal thoughts" (Freunde fürs Leben, 2010). The feeling of being watched by someone is likened to a phobia, an intense fear of someone which would be considered irrational by others. The line "I never knew you till you left me with the crying disease" suggests a failed relationship led to major depression (Furstenfeld, 2005). It is not made clear whether it was romantic interest or a family member or friend but the wording may be intended to be very general. Further proof of Furstenfeld's trouble with relationships is stated in the lyrics "Give me recipes for sorry I'm admitting I'm wrong", which he blames his disorder on causing rifts in his relationships (Furstenfeld, 2005). Bipolar disorder causes unusual mood changes so it would be fair to say that it is a factor. Biological Factors Furstenfeld explains that bipolar disorder is a malfunction of the brain hence the lyrics "your brain is faulty wiring" (Furstenfeld, 2005) and recognizes that there is a biological mechanism that causes the disorder. According to Butcher, Hooley, and Mineka, "cortisol levels are higher in bipolar disorder patients and evidence of mood changes are caused by abnormalities concerning the hypothalamic–pituitary thyroid axis which ... • 65. Song Lyrics In these two rap songs, "Ain't Nothin' But A Word To Me" by Too Short (feat. Ice Cube) (1996) and "Bitch Ass Niggaz" by Dr. Dre (feat. Snoop Dogg, Hitman & Six–Two) (2001), explains how women are gendered as sexualized objects that are disposed after use, and racializes the importance of men's hegemonic masculinity. In this paper I will compare and contrast how women are described as sexual, disposable trash, and men as cowards from the word "bitch." The concept of "Bitch" is how a person (not necessarily a woman) is thoroughly disliked. In the first song by Too Short the first verse, "She won't complain about shit because, she's my hoe" which he refers to women will not complain. Women will do whatever Too Short tells her. • 68. Similarities Between Song And Song Lyrics Some people say that no song lyrics could ever be considered poetry as they are two different, although I don't understand literature well I disagree. While it is true song lyrics and poetry are very different in many ways they are also fairly similar and some literature is written in a way it could be considered a poem or song lyrics. To support my claim I will tell how poems and song Lyrics are similar, how they are different, and why I believe song lyrics could be poetry. Poems and song lyrics are similar in the sense that they both always have a rhyme or rhythm. Poems and songs, both use plenty of literary techniques, making them similar all the more. Zapruder writes "It seems absurd to me to contend that lyrics inherently have less literary merit than poetry, or are easier to create, or are less valuable in a cultural or human sense, and therefore somehow do not deserve the rarified title of "poetry"" (3) both lyrics and poems have multiple different literary techniques and due to their similarities I often have heard people say "if you can write a poem you can also write a song". Although Poems are very similar they are also very different in the same way. Song lyrics are often written to sound good when sung to satisfy the ear, however, Poems are made to look appealing to the eye "If these rhymes look forced in print, they become whimsical in performance. To connect words that do not fully rhyme" (4 Bradley). Poems are also often written with a very deep ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 70. Music Censorship Essay Music Censorship Healthy debates have been caused by today's music. Generally, foul language has rapidly increased within modern popular song lyrics, especially among rap and heavy metal artists' songs. An increase in explicit violence and misogyny in popular music lyrics has been recorded. These lyrics have been judged to be inspirations for violent, suicidal, and criminal acts. For example, Mr. Raymond Kuntz referred to his son's incident. ''When his wife went to wake their son for school, they found him dead of a gunshot wound, still wearing his headphones with Marilyn Manson's Anti–Christ Superstar CD still in the player. The boy's favorite song was ''The Reflecting God (Nina Crowley, ''Senate Hearings on Music, Newsgroup at page 2, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... C. Records in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. On June 8, 1990 he sold the '2 Live Crew' album, 'As Nasty as They Wanna Be', to an undercover police officer and was arrested (Baris 4).'' The youth is obviously not fully protected if storeowners do not follow the restrictions. The most popular music of children under the age of twenty–one is rap and heavy metal, which are the two leading participants in the foul language controversy (Volz 18). Knowing this, storeowners should heavily enforce the underage laws. However, One American boy noted the ease of buying profane music albums in spite of his age of fifteen years (Crowley). If storeowners continue to sell obscene heavy metal and rap music to under aged children, then the society will only worsen. I believe this foul music should be much further restricted from people that it could harm. The younger citizens of America are most influenced by today's music; therefore the restriction levels that have been placed upon it should be enforced. Obviously the laws are not yet strong enough to deny young people of the possession of profane music. Children still obtain ''stickered'' CD's, despite the child's age. If this awful music is available to minors, society will not improve its youth's attitude. ''During the last decade or so in the United States, many people have expressed concern that rap music – especially rap with violent or misogynic lyrics – – is harmful to not only the youth of ... Elle and Skye, two victims of human trafficking, were sold for sex and not knowing what would happen in the future. Aggie, the grandmother of Elle and Skye, is a determined woman who demands and believes that she will see her granddaughters again. In this journal, I will select one song that describes each character's' personality that is described throughout the book. Aggie is an elated and determined woman that does not let anything get in her way. Her goal in this book is to find her two granddaughters that were taken by their father. She knew she was getting herself into a lot of trouble, but she ended up where she wanted to be. A song that can describe her personality is I Won't Give Up by Jason Mraz. Her determination is heavily described: "Well, I won't give up on us, even if the skies get rough, I'm giving you all my love, I'm still looking up" (Mraz song lyrics). When the lyrics describe that the person won't give up on us, Aggie is not giving up on the family. The skies in the lyrics describe the searching and determination for the girls. When Wil was searching for Elle and Skye, Aggie was at a hotel looking up at the sky to reassure herself that Wil will find her girls. This song simply concludes that they will not give up during the hard times and will put love into everything that happens. Elle has grown up to be a placid and ingenuous girl who enjoys trying new things. She is tricked into a "beauty pageant" and has high hopes that she will win. Jack and Elle go inside a building with a few other people who look deft and professional. The judges were specifically looking at physical features such as the hair and face structure. Reading the lyrics and taking notice in the music introduced me to a different concept, despite how hard times can get, someone else is having a tough time also. I've found interest in her overall message, sharing her struggle and hurt with her audience brings a deeper connection, other than singing a song she has no relation with. Her experience with hurt spoke to me as a fellow singer, it encouraged my life lessons from past hurts to say a little pray, and depend solely on faith. Hope, and faith which will assist me along through my low valley of hurt. The better days that are described as her background vocals carry "I can see the future, and it looks ...
