the song is just scenes taken from a short film called "Scenes from the Suburbs." "The Suburbs"
revolves around a group of teens. At first these teens are riding their bikes and playing in what
seems to be some suburbs. As the video progresses the suburbs seem to get more and more
dangerous as men with guns appear and people are dragged from their homes.
The video starts off with a group of friends riding their bikes and playing in the suburbs. The sun is
out and it looks to be about midday. The weather looks to be about eighty degrees with only a few
clouds out. This represents the cliché suburban life for these teens. However, the teens start noticing
the decay of their suburban life at 1:20. They see smoke from what I assume to be an explosion far
away with what looks like an attack helicopter heading towards it. This scene is only for a couple of
seconds though, as the teens continue to play afterwards. At 1:53 you see a boy and a girl from the
group of friends about to kiss, representing again the suburban life of teens falling in love and

Some people say that no song lyrics could ever be considered poetry as they are two different,
although I don't understand literature well I disagree. While it is true song lyrics and poetry are very
different in many ways they are also fairly similar and some literature is written in a way it could be
considered a poem or song lyrics. To support my claim I will tell how poems and song Lyrics are
similar, how they are different, and why I believe song lyrics could be poetry. Poems and song lyrics
are similar in the sense that they both always have a rhyme or rhythm. Poems and songs, both use
