The Role Of The Church In The Catholic Church
The role of the Catholic Church going to the peripheries is huge for the community. First off, the Catholic Church helps those in need by donating to
people who don't have shelter, or people who don't have food or water to drink. They also help by holding volunteer work, so people who want to help
those in need can by being there. Another thing the Catholic Church does to help those in need is praying. Some people get together to help those in
need by asking the Lord to help them. Others pray for them by themselves to help for those in need. The Catholic Church is very generous for
being there when people are in need. The Catholic church greatly represents the Spiritual and Corporal Works of Mercy. They would help feed the
hungry by bringing goods to those who need it. The Church can give drink to the thirsty by not wasting water. The Catholic Church helps people to
shelter the homeless by collecting supplies they need. They can clothe the naked by donating clothes to those who don't have enough. The Church
can visit the sick and imprisoned giving blood and spending time volunteering at nursing homes. They bury the dead by sending a card to to
someone who has lost a loved one. Finally, the Catholic Church give alms to the poor by donating money, like a the poor box in the Church. The
Spiritual Works of Mercy can also represent the Catholic Church helping those in need. Overall, the Corporal and Spiritual Works of Mercy really
represent how the Catholic Church helps those in need, and the Church is a good role model for all Catholics alike.
Pope Francis is a widely known current Catholic who went to the periphery. Pope Francis has helped those who are suffering and those who are in
need all the time. Pope Francis has helped and has done many things to comfort and help those struggling. An example of Pope Francis doing this
is his trip to Philadelphia. While he was there, he visited and did many things. One thing that was very special was on the last day of his trip. He
was offered a nice dinner and a good place to eat. However, he decided he wanted to visit Philadelphia's largest prison and spend his meal there while
he was there, he gave a speech. This probably really touched the prisoners and made them feel

The Church Of A Catholic Church
There is a story told about a congregation in a small Catholic Church located in a mid–western state.
One Sunday morning the mass began when the wooden door of the church opened with a loud creak.
All the parishioners turned their head to see a young man–not a member of the church–enter.
His hair was long and stringy......he wore shorts....with a short sleeved pull over T shirt.
He had multiple tattoos on his arms and legs.....and...looked rough and unkempt.
His presence in the church caused distraction and tension....and really interrupted the mass.
He walked slowly down the center aisle looking for a place to sit–but no one would move over to make room for him in the pew.
He completed his walk not finding a place to sit, so he sat down on the floor at the foot of the sanctuary.
The upright parishioners were shocked and wondered why someone didn't do something...for this person should be dealt with immediately.
Then the congregation heard the familiar sound of an elderly parishioner walking down the aisle toward the visitor. He was a Wealthy.... Respected
members of the church who was dressed in a dark blue suit.....and who walked with a slight limp and had to use his cane.
He slowly made his way down the aisle...with his cane tapping the marble floor.
He finally got to where the young individual was sitting and everyone thought he would reprimand the young man .
The man handed his cane to a friend in the front pew and leaned over grasping the shoulder of the young man sitting on

Rites Of The Catholic Church
One of the most important sacraments of the Catholic Church is the Eucharist, also known as Holy Communion. The Eucharist is not merely the
consumption of bread and wine, but a sacrifice and meal full of symbols, rituals, meaning and community involvement. To gain an understanding of the
Eucharist, it is important to first to look at the symbols, how they were started, then to see how the Christian community enter into the mystery of the
sacrament and what they believe.
Symbols
There are many symbols of the Eucharist, bread, wine, water, chalice
There is a real presence of Christ in the form of bread and wine. In the Eucharist, Christ is present in the totality of His being. The Second Vatican
Council proclaimed that the
Eucharist "is the source and summit of the Christian life" "the source and summit of the Christian life" (Vatican II, Lumen Gentium, Dogmatic
Constitution on the Church, paragraph 11),The real presence of Christ in the Eucharist comes about through transubstantiation meaning to change on
an in perceivable level, we believe that bread and wine changes at a fundamental level have become the body and blood of Christ as a result of our
prayers to God. St Augustine's sermon 272 stated that "for what you see is simply bread and a cup this is the information your eyes report, but your
faith demands far subtler insight the bread if Christ's body and the cup is Christ's blood"
We can argue that the Eucharist is a mystery. But what is the source of the Church's

The Catholic Church
Why should one man have puissance over the way we sojourn our lives? The individual that I am referring to is Pope Francis. Personally, I feel
that many people confer to the Pope as a god, giving him influence over our beliefs, as well as our lifestyle choices. As Catholics we are not allowed
to partake in birth control practices, have an abortion, or participate in anything related to gay marriage. These are only a few issues that are part of a
long list of unmentionables that are influences of the Catholic religion and Pope Francis. This very aspect for indefatigable individuals like myself that
are nonjudgmental upon others. For this reason, I am going to attack Pope Francis indirectly, and the Catholic Church directly. My inspiration for this
attack came for the film The Patriot, directed by Roland Emmerich. In this film, Colonel Tavington, seeking the location of the rebels, gathered the
entire town of Pembroke into the church. After much hesitation, he got the information that he wanted. Colonel Tavington locked the doors and
windows of the church and burned it down. Therefore, killing the entire town. This particular style of attack was inexpensive, and with minimal effort
and easily executed. According to the Gallop Research Organization, 118 million people around the world go to church on Sunday. Catholics make up
24 percent of this number, thus making it an excellent target for a vulnerable attack.

The Catholic Church Essay
In the beginning, the Catholic Church was all about interpreting the word of God. As a whole, none of the people that will be discussed set out to
start another religion or movement. They had their own way of interpreting scripture, which sometimes went against the heads of the Catholic
Church at the time. Each person would present a case for why their philosophy was correct and the others are wrong, but man has a history of
fighting blind under emotions of themselves. Without really knowing specifically why they are right. According to the story of Adam and Eve, we
are condemned to be surrounded by temptation and sin. Greed in the past, present, and future seems to be one of the biggest downfalls in our
society. The question is: Can we be upset with each other if we are predestined for sin and failure? In society, for the last thousand years, we have
continued to try to develop a new, easier way to salvation. The Pauline Tradition focused on the writings of Paul (an apostle of Jesus). Many people
that opposed the Paulines said that Paul's teachings were completely different than those of Jesus, but the believers said his writings were the true
meaning of Jesus' teachings. "Marcion of Sinope, the 2nd century theologian and excommunicated heresiarch, who asserted that Paul was the only
apostle who had rightly understood the new message of salvation as delivered by Jesus Christ" (1). Some of Paul's views influenced the church.

Erasmus's Abuse Of The Catholic Church
A Dutch man named Erasmus was one of the first to become angered with the Church about its abuses. Erasmus was greatly displeased, but not
displeased enough to leave the Church. Martin Luther (a German professor, composer, priest, and monk) tagged in where Erasmus left off and became
the father of the Reformation. Luther argued that there were many issues within the Roman Catholic Church which he outlined in his Ninety–five
Thesis. Some of these included the abuses of the Church, the opulence of the Church, and the overemphasis of good works. Martin Luther recognized
and brought to attention the abuses of the Catholic Church. One of these was the selling of Church offices. Men were allowed to offer the Church a
great sum of money to have a Church office such as a Bishop. Once they were in office long enough, they were able to regain the money they invested
in the position and more. The Church was also selling indulgences, in which a person could supposedly exchange money for the forgiveness of his or
her sins. Luther a, lso believed that the Pope and Rome had excessive power. Furthermore, Luther brought the opulence of the Church to attention. The
Catholic Church advocated giving to the poor and helping the less fortunate, yet the Church leadership and office holders were very ... Show more

Luther struggled with his religion while Catholic, but then he came to believe that the Church should be more based on scripture. During his intense
bible study, he came to the conclusion that due to Jesus dying on the cross, everybody had been saved. By this standard, the good works emphasized
by the Church were meaningless. He also believed that the sacraments were overemphasized. For example, the sacrament of Confession cannot save
you since it is a personal work, and during the sacrament of the Eucharist, the process of transubstantiation does not

The Corruption Of The Catholic Church
The Catholic church was the highest and strongest authority at the time of the renaissance(1300–1600). They were involved the almost every
europeans life at the time and basically were a government. They made used the bible as law and the Papacy as a president who if you disobeyed you
could be burned at the stake. The Church and church officials could do almost anything without repercussions. This surge of power led church officials
to misuse it and become corrupt. Church officials acted as if the words if the Pope was the #1 authority and preached his words as the words of the
bible. Church officials even sold forgiveness and salvation from hell as indulgences. Catholic followers were forced to bring gifts and presents just to

This assumption has all the evidence it needs to be upheld. Though millions of Catholics were brainwashed by higher–ranking church officials through
cynical, selfish teachings, the reformation of the Catholic Church saved an immeasurable amount of lives by gaining religious freedom in Europe.
To hit the tip of the iceberg, high–ranking church officials would brainwash regular citizens. Though not the type of brainwashing seen in movies,
church officials found an even more efficient way to make sure their followers stayed put. Officials forced people to work for the church ("The Roman
Catholic Church in 1500"). Though it seems that Catholics could have chosen not work for the church, that is how they were always taught. These
rogue teachings were frequently taught to young, ignorant people so that a priest would have to ability to remain in power ("The Roman Catholic
Church in 1500"). According to Wongoo Shim, the Catholic Church also used relics as revenue which could be bought by the people. These relics
pardoned sins and granted access to heaven (Shim). Rich families would often buy their way into a higher–ranking church position. Separately,
peasants were left desperate after having to pay for christenings, marriages, burials, and anything else that required help from the church ("The Roman
Catholic Church in 1500"). There was no other legal alternative for people. The Catholic Church did not tolerate any deviance from its teachings.

Ordain Women In The Catholic Church
The Catholic Church will most likely never ordain women to priesthood and episcopacy, Pope Francis said aboard the papal flight after visiting the
Lutheran Church of Sweden.
On Nov. 1, Pope Francis was asked if the Catholic Church would one day ordain women as priests and bishops. The question comes after the pontiff
was hosted by the Lutheran Church of Sweden, a congregation led by Switzerland's first woman primate Archbishop Antje Jackelen of Uppsala,
Catholic News Service relays.
According to Pope Francis, the question had already been answered by St. John Paul II in 1994. During that time, the latter taught that the Catholic
Church will not ordain women because Jesus' chosen apostles were only men.
"Really? Never?" Pope Francis was asked.

The Eucharist Of The Catholic Church
The Eucharist according to Catechism of the Catholic Church
The Eucharist is one of the Seven Sacraments of the Catholic faith. For some it is the most important sacrament of the faith. What is the Catechism of
the Catholic Church? What does it say about the Eucharist? This is what will be discussed during this paper.
To start off the answering the first question, the Catechism is a according to the website uscatholic.org it is a "compendium of all Catholic doctrine
regarding both faith and morals." There have been many Catechisms throughout the history of the Catholic religion. Regarding this paper we will be
discussing the Eucharist in the most recent Catechism that was promulgated by Pope John Paul II in 1992 to coincide with the second Vatican Council.
The Catechism specifically Part two article three discusses the The Sacrament of the Eucharist it is broken down into seven parts. First we must define
what a sacrament is. A Sacrament is a religious rite or observance. The Sacrament of the Eucharist completes the Christian initiation according to the
Catechism, it is the "source of summit of the Christian life." Basically the Eucharist is the sum and summary of faith, "Our way of thinking is attuned
to the Eucharist, and the Eucharist in turn confirms our way of thinking."
Section two titled What is This Sacrament Called? They call it the Eucharist because it is the action of thanksgiving to God. There are different names

Catholic Church Reform
I was sitting in a front desk on the far right of the History room when my teacher Ms. Fisher introduced Reformation. When introducing Reformation
she mentioned Martin Luther. Now Martin Luther wanted to reform the catholic church, he was not planning on creating his own church. It was then
when Ms. Fisher taught us all the things that Martin Luther wanted to reform in the Catholic church. Learning of this bothered me the most. Martin
Luther came up with 95 complaints, called the 95 theses. These complaints were flaws that Martin Luther noticed in the Catholic Church. I was sitting
in my chair trying to listen to my teachers lecture respectively, but I wanted to get up and tell her that she was wrong. Instead of doing such thing I sat

Purgatory to a Christian is like the big decision, if your life on earth was worthy enough to go to heaven. There were many other things that Luther
disagreed with in the Catholic Church that he wanted to reform that made me start to question my own faith and what I believed in. I was
supposed to be confirmed in a week and now I started to question my faith. I did not understand. I was raised in the Catholic Church for seventeen
years and now I hear of the truth of the Church. It was almost as if the Catholic Church hid the history of disturbing acts to the people of the faith
because the Church was ashamed of what they did themselves. I needed reassurance to make sure that I would make the right decision, to be
confirmed in the church or not. Then I went to my mom for help on deciding what was right for me and my future. She made me realize that it was
ok to question your faith because then it makes you strive to learn of things that may have never been taught to you. Later in the week I had made up
my mind. I was going to be confirmed in the Catholic Church as a proud

Catholic Church Annotation
In a recent event in Rome, Pope Francis was faced with the question on whether he would consider the ordaining of female deacons in the Roman
Catholic Church. While addressing the 900 superiors of women's religious orders he vowed that he was in agreement and would consider it. This is a
decision that I am in agreement with and feel that it is long overdue for a myriad of reasons.
Pope Francis' papacy began on March 13, 2013 and he vowed to be open to new and fresh ideas to help the Catholic Church become more appealing to
those in the 21st century. In vowing to seriously consider the female deacon he is proving to be true to his word, an item one would believe to be de
facto with his position. The immediate support for his mention proved this notion worthy and would generate an immediate ground swell of young
Christian women without a denomination to at least take a more serious look at Catholicism and it's teachings. The shear fact that he is even
considering this is a huge change in a Church that only recently, with Pope Francis' mention, acknowledged the huge role that women play in Catholic
life. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A female deacon would finally bring the female perspective to the ministry while still continuing to carry on the rich tradition of a Church that began

more than a women follower. This history combined with a fresh messenger is needed in the US as well as all countries and Pope Francis has vowed

Women In The Catholic Church
The Sacrament of Holy Orders explains the Catholics who are consecrated to serve and how they differentiate between themselves. A common
understanding of priesthood is that God gives his power and authority to provide the ordinances of salvation. While this may be true, many people
are not aware of what other roles priests take on and represent. The word "Holy", in "Holy Orders", means sacred and worthy of respect or devotion.
While, the word "order" appoints an established community or group with a hierarchy, in this case God being the hierarch. In modern times like these
the majority of people know that becoming a part of the priesthood is a decision one makes and then enters into a process. Though this may be true

"Do this in remembrance of me", signifies a deep meaning that Jesus wanted the priesthood to understand and practice. With these words he not only
established the Eucharist and priesthood, he set a tone for the entirety of the Catholic Church. They would no longer rely on practices like animal
sacrifice or hereditary lineage, but on grace and salvation. During the same ceremony, Jesus also grants the apostles and in turn priesthood, the ability
the power to forgive sins. While many people know that men of the priesthood have this ability, it is not very well known that it was given to them by
Jesus in the same evening. In fact, I thought they simply had this ability because they are supposed to represent God here on earth and therefore
would have this power, not that Jesus Christ himself directly gave them this ability. The ability to consecrate, offer and minister the Body and Blood
of Christ, was also given to priests by

The Roman Catholic Church was the largest Christian church, with more than 1.25 billion members worldwide. One of the oldest religious institutions
in the world, it has played a prominent role in the history of Western civilization. Headed by the Bishop of Rome, known as the Pope, its doctrines are
summarized in the Nicene Creed. One the one hand, the Catholic Church was also distinguished by its celebration of the seven sacraments. They are the
Baptism, the First communion, the sacrament of the Forgiveness, the declaration of principles, the sacrament of Confirmation, the sacrament of the

The Corruption Of The Catholic Church
As one knows today, there are many Churches around the whole world. Although there are many today, back in the 1500's, there was only one Church,
and that is the Catholic Church. The Catholic Church was a corrupt church back at the time but no one really knew about it. One reason is because
peasants and other lower–class people didn't understand Latin so they couldn't read the Bible except for the priests. This gave the pope and the whole
church administration an idea to get huge wealth. They used relics, sacred items, to their advantage to give false hope to people, gave indulgences, a
ticket to heaven, for money, and with this money the Catholic Church grew more powerful than the king. Then a man named Martin Luther started

The Catholic Church And The Church
The Catholic Church as we know it is much different than that of the past. Love, acceptance, forgiveness, giving, and tradition are all things that come
to mind when the words Catholic Church are heard. If one were to ask those living in the 1400–1800s what comes to mind when thinking about the
Catholic Church, their answer would have been very different. With the exception of a few countries, there is a separation of the church and state in
todays' government. In our current state of government, the church has no say in the justice system or decisions made by the government. There is no
priest or king who rules over the country or attends government meetings. In early Europe, this was not the case. The Catholic Church had great
influence on the government. The church actually was the government in some countries who operated under a theocratic ruling. WithGod being the
ultimate ruler, the Priest or King was the next in power. The royals are supposedly Gods chosen ones. They are the closest to him and everyone else
is below them. The church had power over the military, who had access to education, individuals' socioeconomic class, the laws, and almost anything
else one could think of.1 The ultimate goal of the church was to convert anyone who was not Christian into a Christian as a way of gaining power. The
inquisition ordered conquistadores to find and conquer lands which could be used to cultivate Spanish wealth and spread Catholicism.2 In this sense,

Corruption of the Catholic Church
Why is the Catholic Church so corrupt in its teaching? They have found ways to control the knowledge that their followers contemplate on. The control
of knowledge and power is the foundation for every successful religious organization. The Catholic Church have acquired this power through strategic
control on the mind of its follower. The Catholic Church propagate their ideals as righteous in order to be accepted; for without this acceptance, they
are faced with the task of initiating this power through force. So to beguile their followers, they present themselves in "sheep clothing" (KJV, Matt
7:15). They are accepted as blameless, peaceful, loving and harmless but in actuality, "they are ravening wolves" (KJV, Matt. 7:15).

Union of minds, therefore, requires, together with a perfect accord in the one faith, complete submission and obedience of will to the Church and to

These men have slowly deviated from the very foundation beliefs that held as holy. It is almost as if they created considered themselves inimical to
Christ– a direct substitute.
The followers of the Catholic see nothing wrong with the worship of their pope, which is a direct contradiction to their beliefs of a monotheistic God,
and the Words of Christ, in whom they supposedly put their trust in. We are going to rewind back to the 15th century when the Catholic Church was
known as the Roman Catholic Church and it was the strongest force to be reckoned with, because the Roman Empire because a combination of both
a Religious Church and a Nation, in turn creating the papal State, that were of course governed by the Papacy. The Roman Catholic was so drunk
with power that anyone who challenged their teachings and false doctrine, were either killed or excommunicated because they were considered
followers of the devil; A group named the Albigenses, a group of French Bible believers, became the Catholic biggest enemy because they simply
choose not to worship the almighty Pope, and for that, they were killed one by one. And these actions were justified because the pope–their

Being Confirmed In The Catholic Church
I believe being confirmed in the Catholic church is one of the best ways to grow in your faith. Being confirmed is officially agreeing to the Church as
an adult. It is a great way to reestablish the commitment you make at Baptism, and inspire you through the Holy Spirit.
If you ask a million Catholics what is means to be Catholic, you will get a million different answers. The Catholic church has many different values and
teachings. Some teachings appeal to certain people, and others don't. But, to me, being Catholic is believing and following the teachings. No matter
what, always having faith that the word of the Lord is truth. Sometimes this can be hard, but we must always remember God wants what is best for us.

Religion And Politics Of The Catholic Church
Religion influenced culture and politics by the power it holds, but can lose it by its flaws. In Europe, the Catholic Church has significantly change the
lives of others. The Catholic Church dominated Europe during the Medieval time period. This church established laws which had structured a
theological government that impacted lives. So that all laws would be made throughout Europe from the church. Also influenced men to fight in
Crusades. Later on, the leaders of the Catholic Church were more interested in worldly aspects rather than their spiritual life. Which then lead the
church to allow indulgences which caused the Reformation, that was lead by Martin Luther. Therefore, the Catholic religion impacted culture and
politics in the society of Europe because it was the center of attention. Which established the Canon Laws, from that foundation it influenced others to
fight in Crusades, and eventually the flaws of the church lead to the Reformation. The Catholic Church ruled all of Europe, so when they
implemented Canon Laws it gave them more power. The Canon Laws held political and religious power, which the members of the church had to
obey, if not they would be excommunicated from the church. Also would be tried through their court system( Power of the Church Lecture). This
explained the church held a lot of power. Also it showed the church had an influence on how people 's lives were going to be structured, because if

The Catholic And The Church
A great number of Catholic members continue to leave the Catholic Church, statistics show. According to an article in the National Catholic Reporter,
"One out of every 10 Americans is an ex–Catholic... Almost half of those leaving the church become unaffiliated and almost half become Protestant"
(Reese). Although the reasons for leaving differ amongst ex–Catholics, an important one is the teachings of the Bible, they claim. It may not make
sense that the very same book that is claimed to be one of the final authorities in the Catholic Church, it's the reason its members are turning away from
it. It is the contradictory nature of some of the Church's teachings –which undermine the word of God ––the Bible–– that causes the members to leave

This brings us to one of the main issues, Reese states: "The church needs to acknowledge that understanding the Bible is more important than
memorizing the catechism." Only, it seems that understanding the Bible is the very thing turning Catholics to Protestantism, as those who study the
Bible using critical thinking, are bound to find incongruences between what the Bible teaches and what the Catholic Church teaches and practices.
To start off, one of the most basic teachings of the Bible is the second commandment, which states: " Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image...
Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God"(King James Version, Exod. 20.4). This
commandment is missing from the Catholic Ten Commandments (Catechism), but the Catholic Church claims it is absorbed into the first
commandment: "Thou shalt have no other gods before me" (Exod. 20.3). Perhaps the "implied" commandment is obvious to the leaders of the Catholic
Church, but to an average Church member who has no clear knowledge of the Sacred Scriptures this might not be the case. The second commandment
clearly states "any graven image," which is not equal to "other gods." The Catholic Church has acknowledged that the commandment does exist, but it
continues to ignore it, and perpetuate its transgression. For the Catholic Church members and leaders, it is very common to bow down to statues and
images of Mary, saints,

The Roman Catholic Church
There are always issues in the world that we have to face, they change with time but a lot of them seem to have a common theme and that is
indifference. I cannot help but think that people are uncomfortable with anything that is different from the norm. Many of us are set in our ways and
we quickly remove any one who threatens that. A lot of us come from a set of foundations that help create who we are. While doing research for this
paper I searched for topics that interest me. I also searched for a topic that anyone would be able to give their opinion on. This search lead me to the
266th Pope of the Roman Catholic Church, Pope Francis. Much to my surprise he is extremely popular in this modern time. Many call him the pope

family members who I thought had the biggest impact.

Catholic Church. In order to do so I will analyses two preeminent types of writings, The Encyclical letter, and The Mass Homily. Similarly, I will
compare a priest's use of language in their homily to The Holy Father Pope Francis' language use. Next discussion point is the prior knowledge and
criteria to understand the Catholic discourse and relate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The mission being to know Jesus Christ and bring others to know him is an ongoing challenge for my community. As it is made aware with the
Encyclical we are always facing new challenges because of societies development. In an effort to bring others to know God it is important to address
issues while teaching people the thought process behind the action. Not only do these writings show the goal of getting others to know Christ but it

Papal Infallibility Of The Catholic Church
The Catholic Church is One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic. The church is Apostolic for a variety of reasons. Without this mark of the Church, there
would be no church officials responsible for continuing the works of Jesus Christ and the twelve Apostles. Being Apostolic allows the church to pass
authority to its leaders, and teachings on from generation to generation. The Catholic Church is Apostolic, and many of its attributes are related or
reflect this mark of the Church. The word apostolic means of or relating to the apostles, or in some cases of or relating to the pope, because he is the
successor of Saint Peter. The Church is apostolic because it was founded by the apostles who were chosen by Christ and sent on a mission by Him.

A. Rationale and Preliminary Research I investigated Satan in the Catholic church; who he is and how he is described. I have a previous
knowledge of the Catholic faith because I used to attend mass as a child, and because most of my family is catholic and practicing. Satan is a very
popular symbol talked about in society, yet what is said does not seem very educated, so I wanted to learn more about who Catholicism states Satan is,
from the people who follow the faith.
Firstly, I researched the Catholic church broadly. I found a very dependable source from the official Vatican Church, The Holy See website, which had
the Catechism of the Catholic Church using scriptures. The source contained verses from the bible descripting Satan. This ... Show more content on

Finally, the final article is an online website of easy to find bible verses, called Bible Tools. I searched for Satan a Murderer to find bible verses
concerning that, and it also contains explanations of those verses coming from the Church of the Great God.
B. Plan for Study
This investigation will seek to examine how Satan is perceived in the adherents of the Catholic faith. The scope of this investigation will include how
Satan is described in Catholicism, by his different names. The plan will be to use different online sources that explain Satan. The Catholic faith has
specific names for Satan that will be researched and examined. The names tell how Catholics see Satan and how they view his actions. Many of the
online sources will be written by well–known adherents of the Catholic faith (two of Christian faith, but correspond to that of Catholic teachings.) The
sources researched and analyzed will explain how Satan is viewed in Catholicism, answering my research question.
C. Summary of Significant Findings In the beginning, Satan was created good by God and to be an angel, known as Lucifer. Satan led other angels
to turn against God to have more power over his kingdom. But, "the power of God will always triumph over that of Satan," (Saunders, Rev. William,
2003). So, God cast the demons and Satan to hell; also found that they were cast back to earth. "The reason the Son of God appeared was to

Response Of The Catholic Church To The Reformation
3.Describe the response of the Catholic Church to the Reformation.
Long before the reformation period, people within the church, both clergy and lay were keen for the church to eliminate all corrupt practices and for a
reform, which would bring everyone closer to God. Those high up in church authority had ignored the concerns made by these reformers because they
were personally gaining from practices like indulgences. However the sixteenth century split of protestant from the Catholic church became obvious and
brought about bad publicity towards the church as the loss of members was a large concern, putting them under pressure to reform itself properly. The
church responded in a very serious matter which resulted in the church starting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Catholic Mass
In this spring break, I followed my Christian friend and visited a Catholic Church located in Seattle and I had a chance to witness on how they conduct
their worship in the form of Mass. The Catholic Church has many practices and rituals such as Last Rites, praying the Rosary, receiving Communion,
Confession, Baptism, and Mass according to the members of this church. Nonetheless, the Mass is the most crucial ritual as they consider it as the
Lord`s Supper. The Mass is the Catholic`s official formal worship service and is considered to be the most sacred and important worship act in a
Catholic church. According to the Catholics, going to the mass is considered as the only way to fulfill the third Commandment of keeping the ... Show

This set the tone for conducting Bible readings and other prayers during the Mass. During the inquiry, I was informed that each day of worship has its
own prayers and readings that are unique as chosen by the church.
Upon the beginning of the Liturgy of the Eucharist which is the second section of the Mass, all the saints remained seated as the deacons passed the
baskets to them so as to collect offerings that were in the form of monetary and non–monetary. The head deacon brought the offerings to the altar. He
was also carrying cruets that had plain drinking water and grape wine together with a container that had unconsecrated hosts. The priest poured, into
the chalice, wine and added drops of water that symbolized humanity and divinity union in Christ. Then the priest lifted the hosts as an offering
presented to God. He also did the same using the chalice filled with wine. Ceremonially, the priest washed his hands similar to how rabbis and priests
did prior to ritual slaughters. This according to one of the leaders in the church was a reenactment of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. The Sanctus was sung
after which the congregation knelt down for the first time to mark the holiest section of the Mass known as the Consecration. After the service I learned
that Consecration of the wine and bread meant that they become the blood and body of Jesus according to the transubstantiation miracle. Imperative to

Corruption In The Catholic Church
The Roman Catholic Church was an extremely powerful organization during the middle ages and for the most part controlled all aspects of people's
lives. However, this organization does not last forever and over time begins to crack and crumble until a series of schisms split the church into multiple
opposing sides. The Church's message and authority was eventually undermined by corruption and the lay people demanding reform. Corruption was a
big part of the Catholic Church and played a key role in the decline of the church's power. Corruption came in many ways in the church but it was
mostly found when the church practiced simony, the selling of indulgences, and the lack of moral fiber found in the clergy. Simony is a practice in

These positions were extremely important as they often granted you superiority over many things, including for some instances the law. This
selling of ecclesiastical offices created a corrupt clergy who were only in the church because they were rich and greedy and not that they wanted
to be a messenger of God. Corruption could also be found in the selling of indulgences. Indulgences could be bought as a way to decrease the time
you had in purgatory so that you could get to heaven quicker. The belief in this time period was that before you were allowed into heaven you must
first walk in purgatory until your soul is completely purged of sin. In an attempt to make more money the church decided to sell indulgences so that
people were able to skip purgatory almost entirely and go straight to heaven upon their death. This emphasized that people did not need to have a
spiritual connection and only needed to "pay the money to have souls instantaneously sprung into heaven."(Sankey) This created another "market" out
of the church and quickly undermined its power from a place of worship and righteousness to a religious shop where only the wealthy were allowed.

The Roman Catholic Church: Scandals Of The Church
Scandals of the Church
Before the Reformation, the Catholic church was not only the religious power but also political, social and financial powers all over the Western
Europe. (KS3, The Reformation) With the more power that the church had the more corrupt it became and less focused on the mission of the church
but more on power, self, and finance gain. "The church is God's appointed agency for the salvation of men. It was organized for service, and its
mission is to carry the gospel to the world. From the beginning it has been God's plan that through His church shall be reflected to the world His
fullness and His sufficiency." (White, Acts of the Apostles) During this time period theCatholic church preached their sermons in Latin and most of the

(Church History, Arise Institute) The Church put great emphasis on indulgences to pay for their sins with even before they started sinning. Some of
the emergence of the Roman Catholic Church were: "kissing the pope's feet began with Pope Constantine, the sale of indulgences established to reduce
time in purgatory, transubstantiation, confession of sins to priests instituted by Pope Innocent III, traditions claimed equal in authority with the Bible
and apocryphal books declared by the canon by the Council of Trent." (Church History, Arise Institute) Over time the Church became more about
tradition and what they want to believe then what the Bible teaches. Some of the problems before the Reformation were freedom of speech and
expression, and human rights. When Martin Luther tried to accommodate with the catholic church by writing the 95 thesis and when he was ignored he
invented Protestantism and the effects of the reformation were positive and

The schisms of the Catholic Church is instrumental in creating a platform that sparks the Reformation and eventually establishes the Protestant Church.
Because of the stronghold Christianity has and its ability to permeate within the confines of the Roman Empire, leaders decide to befriend Christians
and seek their support. With this in mind, believers are tolerated and eventually, Theodosius I makeChristianity the state religion of the Empire and

Some common practises include bible study which has been practised for millenniums and the tradition of having a service every Sunday. The church
is always practicing the three initiation sacraments, the Holy Communion is very common in every service because of the way it brings people with
faith closer to the Christ. They teach that Jesus is the Son of God sent to die for the sins of the world and God is a triune God, consisting of God the
Father, Jesus the Son, and the Holy Spirit. The official teaching has been the same for many years, just like the apostles passed on the Gospel message
it is still a matter of word and mouth. There is the use of the bible and God's word to pass on the teachings, but priests, church communities and the
Pope are few of the many that pass on the teachings using word and mouth.
What is the Sacred writing of the catholic church and how are these sacred writings interpreted?
The primary religious writing of the Catholic Church is the bible. The church pursues from the word of God and what is written in the Holy Bible.

The Catholic Church
The Catholic Church in the 20th Century underwent tremendous change, most significantly as a result of the Second Vatican Council. This Council
created an atmosphere of reform within the leading theologians and the hierarchy of the Church. Consequently, when Pope Paul VI released his
encyclical Humanae Vitae, to many of the reformers it seemed to contradict the sentiment of the Council.
At the same time, though, there was a movement afoot to radically change the power structure of the Church. Led by the same liberal theologians who
took offense to the pro–life policies laid out in Humanae Vitae, the aim was to transition the Church from an authoritarian power structure to a more
democratic model. Humanae ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

hands. He was crying. Many people were in front of the house; some were throwing stones, while others were cursing him and using foul language.'"
(McInerny 17–18)
This image is very symbolic of the attempt to overthrow the teaching authority of the Pope taking place in the Catholic Church following the historic
release of Humanae Vitae, an important papal encyclical following the religious revolution known as Vatican II. Unremarkable for its content, which
simply reaffirmed the current Church views on contraceptive use, the response to Humanae Vitae has been shocking. The controversy over Humanae
Vitae revealed a schism between liberal and conservative elements in the Church. This rift included the Church's view of birth control, but on a deeper
level was about the right of the Pope to dictate the official Church teaching without following the dictates of the laity, bishops, cardinals, or theologians.
Leading the liberal, revolutionary forces were the Church's leading theologians, and guiding the conservative, counter–revolutionary side was the Pope,
primarily under Pope Paul VI.
To understand the response of theologians, it is important to look at the conditions surrounding the encyclical's release. In 1959 Pope John XXIII

The Catholic Church has a role in my family situation for a number of reasons. Not only were we originally married Catholic Church, but the church
was also used successfully as a prop by my ex–wife in the hearing. My ex–wife was not originally a Catholic, but converted to the faith during the

which was transparently insincere given the nature of her affairs, perjury, fraud and other behavior. My ex–wife also sought and was granted an

The ex–wife's willingness and even desire to lie under oath lends credibility to my argument that her overtly demonstrated Christian faith is quite

The Catholic Schools also play a role in this family matter, specifically Sacred Heart in Warner Robins Georgia. My daughter was initially enrolled in
Sacred Heart School and I went to visit there on a few occasions. On one occasion I was involved in a parent–teacher conference and I asked a question
about the ADHD testing that the school had administered. I was told directly by my daughter's teacher, that Ms. Erwin the school's principal had told
her that any details regarding this testing were to be withheld from me. My daughter's teacher was told even deny that the testing had even occurred.

psychologist's report. I did not wish to create a controversy or awkward situation for

Corruption In The Catholic Church
During the time of corruption in the Catholic Church, Protestantism was growing because of the influences of politics, corruption within the Catholic
Church, and Renaissance ideas. Many Catholics were unhappy with the Catholic Church because of all the corruption in the church, and they wanted
reformation. The Catholic Church wouldn't be able to stop the growth of Protestantism. One of the reasons Protestantism spread was because of the
influence of politics, such as support from princes and the Treaty of Augsburg. When Luther began to break from the Catholic Church, "He called upon
the German princes to overthrow the papacy in Germany and establish a reformed German church." (438) This is the reason the German princes started
to support the spread of Protestantism. The rulers of Germany were motivated by any religious feeling which made them take control of the churches in
their territory. This made the princes/rulers have the last say in any decisions not thePope. Religious warfare in Germany ended with the Treaty of
Augsburg. The Treaty of Augsburg in 1555 brought along change in Protestantism, it made... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Protestantism. The Protestant teaching was justification by faith alone, salvation comes only through faith in Christ not good works. Buying a slip of

Differences Of The Protestant Church And The Roman...
During the Reformation, Martin Luther found problems within the Roman Catholic Church and decided that he no longer desired to follow their ways.
As a follower of Christ, he instead turned to the Bible to rediscover truths that the Church had twisted. Now, because of Luther's then radical ideology,
we have two different bodies of Christ: the Protestant Church and the Roman Catholic Church. Today, there are many differences between them
concerning fundamental beliefs and how the church should operate.
One difference between Protestants and Catholics is where they get their teachings from. Protestants focus only on the Bible. They believe that it is
the only source of information about who God is and what He has done. They only use the Bible for the foundations of their faith and for how to live
out your faith in your daily life. From the Hebrew Bible of twenty–four books, Protestants made thirty–nine books with the exact same information. The
Catholic Bible includes several more books that are derived from another Hebrew canon called the Septuagint. During the Reformation, the Protestants
decided that these books shouldn't be in the Christian Bible because they aren't in the Hebrew Bible, but the Catholic Church disagreed. Secondly,
Protestants differ from Catholics because Christianity splits into many denominations, whereas Catholics have no denominations. They are all one
Church, under the Pope, sharing the same beliefs in every Catholic church. Even though Protestants

Catholic Church Corruption
Over five hundred years ago, the Roman Catholic Church was very corrupt, and extorted money from people by convincing them that through
indulgences, they could pass through purgatory and into heaven. Martin Luther witnessed this corruption and sought reformation in the church. After
realizing that the church would not change its system, Luther developed another form of Christianity, now called Lutheranism. Lutheranism was
founded on the notion of justification, and was confirmed through the bible. When people of the Roman Church heard of this, many converted to
Lutheranism, because they would much rather praise God's grace than pay their way into heaven and debt. Although, service to God is important in a
good Christian's life, their faith in the Lord transcends the works, and through that faith alone they will live an eternal life. Many actions such as
indulgences and ceremonies were thought to be the most important factor to living an afterlife in heaven, but this contradicts what is written in the
bible. The most popular form of salvation for people was purchasing indulgences, which were redemptions for sinning and got you a step closer to
Heaven. Many of the Roman Catholic Church members believed that, "the indulgence was thus the means by which internal reform could be
achieved" (Tingle 191). This distorted way of thinking conned people into to spending their money on pieces of paper, which claimed to give the
owner pardons for their sins. Primarily, this was

Roman Catholic Church
The Protestant Reformation was to Christianity what the Civil Rights movement was to African Americans. During the 16th century, the Catholic
Church exploited humans by making salvation from God a market, or system, in which one could earn salvation by financial contribution, or
confessing one's sin to a priest. Salvation is a gift, granted by God, to be received by faith alone. Using the common themes theory, this paper will
expound on the problem the Roman Catholic Church posed on the Roman Empire, by corruptly managing acceptance into God's graces, the solution
Martin Luther employed to resolve the problem, and the effects of his solution. Looking at the problem the Roman Catholic Church posed on the
Empire in the early 16th century is a twofold problem. First, this paper will look at the economic problem. Leo X, the pope of the reformation period,
lived an extravagant lifestyle, indulging in the arts and fancy banquets, and he was the executive of an ambitious effort to erect the St. Peter's Cathedral
(Reston 7). That, coupled with his luxurious lifestyle, taxed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That leads into the second problem in the common themes theory, the exploitation of human rights through indulgences. Indulgences are rendered by a
priest, yet licensed by the Pope, for the forgiveness of the punishment of sins, through financial contribution or good works (Cunningham, Reich, 327).
The aim of the indulgences sold during the papacy of Leo X, lessened the amount of time one would spend in purgatory (Harris, Zucker). Purgatory is
a holding cell for people, who have committed sins, and are held there until they sit their time, and the pope has the keys to the holding cell (Harris,
Zucker). This is where the undermining of human rights erupts. Does the pope have the authority to prescribe a financial offering that will dictate

The Role Of The Church In The Catholic Church

  • 1. The Role Of The Church In The Catholic Church The role of the Catholic Church going to the peripheries is huge for the community. First off, the Catholic Church helps those in need by donating to people who don't have shelter, or people who don't have food or water to drink. They also help by holding volunteer work, so people who want to help those in need can by being there. Another thing the Catholic Church does to help those in need is praying. Some people get together to help those in need by asking the Lord to help them. Others pray for them by themselves to help for those in need. The Catholic Church is very generous for being there when people are in need. The Catholic church greatly represents the Spiritual and Corporal Works of Mercy. They would help feed the hungry by bringing goods to those who need it. The Church can give drink to the thirsty by not wasting water. The Catholic Church helps people to shelter the homeless by collecting supplies they need. They can clothe the naked by donating clothes to those who don't have enough. The Church can visit the sick and imprisoned giving blood and spending time volunteering at nursing homes. They bury the dead by sending a card to to someone who has lost a loved one. Finally, the Catholic Church give alms to the poor by donating money, like a the poor box in the Church. The Spiritual Works of Mercy can also represent the Catholic Church helping those in need. Overall, the Corporal and Spiritual Works of Mercy really represent how the Catholic Church helps those in need, and the Church is a good role model for all Catholics alike. Pope Francis is a widely known current Catholic who went to the periphery. Pope Francis has helped those who are suffering and those who are in need all the time. Pope Francis has helped and has done many things to comfort and help those struggling. An example of Pope Francis doing this is his trip to Philadelphia. While he was there, he visited and did many things. One thing that was very special was on the last day of his trip. He was offered a nice dinner and a good place to eat. However, he decided he wanted to visit Philadelphia's largest prison and spend his meal there while he was there, he gave a speech. This probably really touched the prisoners and made them feel ... • 2. The Church Of A Catholic Church There is a story told about a congregation in a small Catholic Church located in a mid–western state. Respected members of the church who was dressed in a dark blue suit.....and who walked with a slight limp and had to use his cane. He slowly made his way down the aisle...with his cane tapping the marble floor. He finally got to where the young individual was sitting and everyone thought he would reprimand the young man . The man handed his cane to a friend in the front pew and leaned over grasping the shoulder of the young man sitting on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Rites Of The Catholic Church One of the most important sacraments of the Catholic Church is the Eucharist, also known as Holy Communion. The Eucharist is not merely the consumption of bread and wine, but a sacrifice and meal full of symbols, rituals, meaning and community involvement. To gain an understanding of the Eucharist, it is important to first to look at the symbols, how they were started, then to see how the Christian community enter into the mystery of the sacrament and what they believe. Symbols There are many symbols of the Eucharist, bread, wine, water, chalice There is a real presence of Christ in the form of bread and wine. In the Eucharist, Christ is present in the totality of His being. The Second Vatican Council proclaimed that the Eucharist "is the source and summit of the Christian life" "the source and summit of the Christian life" (Vatican II, Lumen Gentium, Dogmatic Constitution on the Church, paragraph 11),The real presence of Christ in the Eucharist comes about through transubstantiation meaning to change on an in perceivable level, we believe that bread and wine changes at a fundamental level have become the body and blood of Christ as a result of our prayers to God. St Augustine's sermon 272 stated that "for what you see is simply bread and a cup this is the information your eyes report, but your faith demands far subtler insight the bread if Christ's body and the cup is Christ's blood" We can argue that the Eucharist is a mystery. But what is the source of the Church's ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Catholic Church The Catholic Church Why should one man have puissance over the way we sojourn our lives? The individual that I am referring to is Pope Francis. Personally, I feel that many people confer to the Pope as a god, giving him influence over our beliefs, as well as our lifestyle choices. As Catholics we are not allowed to partake in birth control practices, have an abortion, or participate in anything related to gay marriage. These are only a few issues that are part of a long list of unmentionables that are influences of the Catholic religion and Pope Francis. This very aspect for indefatigable individuals like myself that are nonjudgmental upon others. For this reason, I am going to attack Pope Francis indirectly, and the Catholic Church directly. My inspiration for this attack came for the film The Patriot, directed by Roland Emmerich. In this film, Colonel Tavington, seeking the location of the rebels, gathered the entire town of Pembroke into the church. After much hesitation, he got the information that he wanted. Colonel Tavington locked the doors and windows of the church and burned it down. Therefore, killing the entire town. This particular style of attack was inexpensive, and with minimal effort and easily executed. According to the Gallop Research Organization, 118 million people around the world go to church on Sunday. Catholics make up 24 percent of this number, thus making it an excellent target for a vulnerable attack. My army recruitment process: ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Catholic Church Essay In the beginning, the Catholic Church was all about interpreting the word of God. As a whole, none of the people that will be discussed set out to start another religion or movement. They had their own way of interpreting scripture, which sometimes went against the heads of the Catholic Church at the time. Each person would present a case for why their philosophy was correct and the others are wrong, but man has a history of fighting blind under emotions of themselves. Without really knowing specifically why they are right. According to the story of Adam and Eve, we are condemned to be surrounded by temptation and sin. Greed in the past, present, and future seems to be one of the biggest downfalls in our society. The question is: Can we be upset with each other if we are predestined for sin and failure? In society, for the last thousand years, we have continued to try to develop a new, easier way to salvation. The Pauline Tradition focused on the writings of Paul (an apostle of Jesus). Many people that opposed the Paulines said that Paul's teachings were completely different than those of Jesus, but the believers said his writings were the true meaning of Jesus' teachings. "Marcion of Sinope, the 2nd century theologian and excommunicated heresiarch, who asserted that Paul was the only apostle who had rightly understood the new message of salvation as delivered by Jesus Christ" (1). Some of Paul's views influenced the church. Scholars have been studying the effects ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Erasmus's Abuse Of The Catholic Church A Dutch man named Erasmus was one of the first to become angered with the Church about its abuses. Erasmus was greatly displeased, but not displeased enough to leave the Church. Martin Luther (a German professor, composer, priest, and monk) tagged in where Erasmus left off and became the father of the Reformation. Luther argued that there were many issues within the Roman Catholic Church which he outlined in his Ninety–five Thesis. Some of these included the abuses of the Church, the opulence of the Church, and the overemphasis of good works. Martin Luther recognized and brought to attention the abuses of the Catholic Church. One of these was the selling of Church offices. Men were allowed to offer the Church a great sum of money to have a Church office such as a Bishop. Once they were in office long enough, they were able to regain the money they invested in the position and more. The Church was also selling indulgences, in which a person could supposedly exchange money for the forgiveness of his or her sins. Luther a, lso believed that the Pope and Rome had excessive power. Furthermore, Luther brought the opulence of the Church to attention. The Catholic Church advocated giving to the poor and helping the less fortunate, yet the Church leadership and office holders were very ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Luther struggled with his religion while Catholic, but then he came to believe that the Church should be more based on scripture. During his intense bible study, he came to the conclusion that due to Jesus dying on the cross, everybody had been saved. By this standard, the good works emphasized by the Church were meaningless. He also believed that the sacraments were overemphasized. For example, the sacrament of Confession cannot save you since it is a personal work, and during the sacrament of the Eucharist, the process of transubstantiation does not ... Though not the type of brainwashing seen in movies, church officials found an even more efficient way to make sure their followers stayed put. Ordain Women In The Catholic Church The Catholic Church will most likely never ordain women to priesthood and episcopacy, Pope Francis said aboard the papal flight after visiting the Lutheran Church of Sweden. On Nov. 1, Pope Francis was asked if the Catholic Church would one day ordain women as priests and bishops. The question comes after the pontiff was hosted by the Lutheran Church of Sweden, a congregation led by Switzerland's first woman primate Archbishop Antje Jackelen of Uppsala, Catholic News Service relays. According to Pope Francis, the question had already been answered by St. John Paul II in 1994. During that time, the latter taught that the Catholic Church will not ordain women because Jesus' chosen apostles were only men. "Really? Never?" Pope Francis was asked. ... For some it is the most important sacrament of the faith. What is the Catechism of the Catholic Church? What does it say about the Eucharist? This is what will be discussed during this paper. To start off the answering the first question, the Catechism is a according to the website uscatholic.org it is a "compendium of all Catholic doctrine regarding both faith and morals." There have been many Catechisms throughout the history of the Catholic religion. Regarding this paper we will be discussing the Eucharist in the most recent Catechism that was promulgated by Pope John Paul II in 1992 to coincide with the second Vatican Council. The Catechism specifically Part two article three discusses the The Sacrament of the Eucharist it is broken down into seven parts. First we must define what a sacrament is. A Sacrament is a religious rite or observance. The Sacrament of the Eucharist completes the Christian initiation according to the Catechism, it is the "source of summit of the Christian life." Basically the Eucharist is the sum and summary of faith, "Our way of thinking is attuned to the Eucharist, and the Eucharist in turn confirms our way of thinking." • 12. Catholic Church Reform I was sitting in a front desk on the far right of the History room when my teacher Ms. Fisher introduced Reformation. When introducing Reformation she mentioned Martin Luther. Now Martin Luther wanted to reform the catholic church, he was not planning on creating his own church. It was then when Ms. Fisher taught us all the things that Martin Luther wanted to reform in the Catholic church. Learning of this bothered me the most. Martin Luther came up with 95 complaints, called the 95 theses. These complaints were flaws that Martin Luther noticed in the Catholic Church. I was sitting in my chair trying to listen to my teachers lecture respectively, but I wanted to get up and tell her that she was wrong. Instead of doing such thing I sat quietly waiting ... I was raised in the Catholic Church for seventeen years and now I hear of the truth of the Church. It was almost as if the Catholic Church hid the history of disturbing acts to the people of the faith because the Church was ashamed of what they did themselves. I needed reassurance to make sure that I would make the right decision, to be confirmed in the church or not. Then I went to my mom for help on deciding what was right for me and my future. • 13. Catholic Church Annotation In a recent event in Rome, Pope Francis was faced with the question on whether he would consider the ordaining of female deacons in the Roman Catholic Church. While addressing the 900 superiors of women's religious orders he vowed that he was in agreement and would consider it. This is a decision that I am in agreement with and feel that it is long overdue for a myriad of reasons. Pope Francis' papacy began on March 13, 2013 and he vowed to be open to new and fresh ideas to help the Catholic Church become more appealing to those in the 21st century. In vowing to seriously consider the female deacon he is proving to be true to his word, an item one would believe to be de facto with his position. The immediate support for his mention proved this notion worthy and would generate an immediate ground swell of young Christian women without a denomination to at least take a more serious look at Catholicism and it's teachings. The shear fact that he is even considering this is a huge change in a Church that only recently, with Pope Francis' mention, acknowledged the huge role that women play in Catholic life. ... • 14. Women In The Catholic Church The Sacrament of Holy Orders explains the Catholics who are consecrated to serve and how they differentiate between themselves. A common understanding of priesthood is that God gives his power and authority to provide the ordinances of salvation. While this may be true, many people are not aware of what other roles priests take on and represent. The word "Holy", in "Holy Orders", means sacred and worthy of respect or devotion. While, the word "order" appoints an established community or group with a hierarchy, in this case God being the hierarch. During the same ceremony, Jesus also grants the apostles and in turn priesthood, the ability the power to forgive sins. While many people know that men of the priesthood have this ability, it is not very well known that it was given to them by Jesus in the same evening. Although there are many today, back in the 1500's, there was only one Church, and that is the Catholic Church. The Catholic Church was a corrupt church back at the time but no one really knew about it. One reason is because peasants and other lower–class people didn't understand Latin so they couldn't read the Bible except for the priests. This gave the pope and the whole church administration an idea to get huge wealth. In Europe, the Catholic Church has significantly change the lives of others. The Catholic Church dominated Europe during the Medieval time period. This church established laws which had structured a theological government that impacted lives. So that all laws would be made throughout Europe from the church. Also influenced men to fight in Crusades. Later on, the leaders of the Catholic Church were more interested in worldly aspects rather than their spiritual life. Which then lead the church to allow indulgences which caused the Reformation, that was lead by Martin Luther. Therefore, the Catholic religion impacted culture and politics in the society of Europe because it was the center of attention. Which established the Canon Laws, from that foundation it influenced others to fight in Crusades, and eventually the flaws of the church lead to the Reformation. The Catholic Church ruled all of Europe, so when they implemented Canon Laws it gave them more power. The Canon Laws held political and religious power, which the members of the church had to obey, if not they would be excommunicated from the church. Also would be tried through their court system( Power of the Church Lecture). This explained the church held a lot of power. Almost half of those leaving the church become unaffiliated and almost half become Protestant" (Reese). Although the reasons for leaving differ amongst ex–Catholics, an important one is the teachings of the Bible, they claim. It may not make sense that the very same book that is claimed to be one of the final authorities in the Catholic Church, it's the reason its members are turning away from it. This brings us to one of the main issues, Reese states: "The church needs to acknowledge that understanding the Bible is more important than memorizing the catechism." Only, it seems that understanding the Bible is the very thing turning Catholics to Protestantism, as those who study the Bible using critical thinking, are bound to find incongruences between what the Bible teaches and what the Catholic Church teaches and practices. To start off, one of the most basic teachings of the Bible is the second commandment, which states: " Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image... Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God"(King James Version, Exod. 20.4). This commandment is missing from the Catholic Ten Commandments (Catechism), but the Catholic Church claims it is absorbed into the first commandment: "Thou shalt have no other gods before me" (Exod. 20.3). Perhaps the "implied" commandment is obvious to the leaders of the Catholic Church, but to an average Church member who has no clear knowledge of the Sacred Scriptures this might not be the case. The second commandment clearly states "any graven image," which is not equal to "other gods." The Catholic Church has acknowledged that the commandment does exist, but it continues to ignore it, and perpetuate its transgression. I was told directly by my daughter's teacher, that Ms. Erwin the school's principal had told her that any details regarding this testing were to be withheld from me. My daughter's teacher was told even deny that the testing had even occurred. The only way I had knowledge and knew to ask questions of the testing was by observing the school–administered results on a third–party psychologist's report. I did not wish to create a controversy or awkward situation for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. Corruption In The Catholic Church During the time of corruption in the Catholic Church, Protestantism was growing because of the influences of politics, corruption within the Catholic Church, and Renaissance ideas. Many Catholics were unhappy with the Catholic Church because of all the corruption in the church, and they wanted reformation. The Catholic Church wouldn't be able to stop the growth of Protestantism. One of the reasons Protestantism spread was because of the influence of politics, such as support from princes and the Treaty of Augsburg. When Luther began to break from the Catholic Church, "He called upon the German princes to overthrow the papacy in Germany and establish a reformed German church." (438) This is the reason the German princes started to support the spread of Protestantism. The rulers of Germany were motivated by any religious feeling which made them take control of the churches in their territory. This made the princes/rulers have the last say in any decisions not thePope. Religious warfare in Germany ended with the Treaty of Augsburg. The Treaty of Augsburg in 1555 brought along change in Protestantism, it made... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Martin Luther made these problems obvious when he nailed his 95 theses to the church doors. In Luther's 95 theses, he attacked the selling and buying of indulgences, absenteeism, simony, and pluralism. All of the problems lead to corruption, and the corruption lead to people changing over to Protestantism. The Protestant teaching was justification by faith alone, salvation comes only through faith in Christ not good works. Buying a slip of paper is not the way to get into Heaven. There was corruption with the Popes in the 1520's. The Popes were spending too much money on Renaissance Art and Architecture to make the church look good. They were too concerned with Italian politics. People were not happy and they wanted to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. Differences Of The Protestant Church And The Roman... During the Reformation, Martin Luther found problems within the Roman Catholic Church and decided that he no longer desired to follow their ways. As a follower of Christ, he instead turned to the Bible to rediscover truths that the Church had twisted. Now, because of Luther's then radical ideology, we have two different bodies of Christ: the Protestant Church and the Roman Catholic Church. Today, there are many differences between them concerning fundamental beliefs and how the church should operate. One difference between Protestants and Catholics is where they get their teachings from. Protestants focus only on the Bible. They believe that it is the only source of information about who God is and what He has done. They only use the Bible for the foundations of their faith and for how to live out your faith in your daily life. From the Hebrew Bible of twenty–four books, Protestants made thirty–nine books with the exact same information. The Catholic Bible includes several more books that are derived from another Hebrew canon called the Septuagint. During the Reformation, the Protestants decided that these books shouldn't be in the Christian Bible because they aren't in the Hebrew Bible, but the Catholic Church disagreed. Secondly, Protestants differ from Catholics because Christianity splits into many denominations, whereas Catholics have no denominations. They are all one Church, under the Pope, sharing the same beliefs in every Catholic church. Even though Protestants ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. Catholic Church Corruption Over five hundred years ago, the Roman Catholic Church was very corrupt, and extorted money from people by convincing them that through indulgences, they could pass through purgatory and into heaven. Martin Luther witnessed this corruption and sought reformation in the church. After realizing that the church would not change its system, Luther developed another form of Christianity, now called Lutheranism. Lutheranism was founded on the notion of justification, and was confirmed through the bible. When people of the Roman Church heard of this, many converted to Lutheranism, because they would much rather praise God's grace than pay their way into heaven and debt. Although, service to God is important in a good Christian's life, their faith in the Lord transcends the works, and through that faith alone they will live an eternal life. Many actions such as indulgences and ceremonies were thought to be the most important factor to living an afterlife in heaven, but this contradicts what is written in the bible. The most popular form of salvation for people was purchasing indulgences, which were redemptions for sinning and got you a step closer to Heaven. Many of the Roman Catholic Church members believed that, "the indulgence was thus the means by which internal reform could be achieved" (Tingle 191). This distorted way of thinking conned people into to spending their money on pieces of paper, which claimed to give the owner pardons for their sins. Primarily, this was ... • 41. Roman Catholic Church The Protestant Reformation was to Christianity what the Civil Rights movement was to African Americans. During the 16th century, the Catholic Church exploited humans by making salvation from God a market, or system, in which one could earn salvation by financial contribution, or confessing one's sin to a priest. Salvation is a gift, granted by God, to be received by faith alone. Using the common themes theory, this paper will expound on the problem the Roman Catholic Church posed on the Roman Empire, by corruptly managing acceptance into God's graces, the solution Martin Luther employed to resolve the problem, and the effects of his solution. Looking at the problem the Roman Catholic Church posed on the Empire in the early 16th century is a twofold problem. First, this paper will look at the economic problem. Leo X, the pope of the reformation period, lived an extravagant lifestyle, indulging in the arts and fancy banquets, and he was the executive of an ambitious effort to erect the St. Peter's Cathedral (Reston 7). That, coupled with his luxurious lifestyle, taxed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... That leads into the second problem in the common themes theory, the exploitation of human rights through indulgences. Indulgences are rendered by a priest, yet licensed by the Pope, for the forgiveness of the punishment of sins, through financial contribution or good works (Cunningham, Reich, 327). The aim of the indulgences sold during the papacy of Leo X, lessened the amount of time one would spend in purgatory (Harris, Zucker). Purgatory is a holding cell for people, who have committed sins, and are held there until they sit their time, and the pope has the keys to the holding cell (Harris, Zucker). This is where the undermining of human rights erupts. Does the pope have the authority to prescribe a financial offering that will dictate someone's eternal ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
