Pearl Harbor Propaganda Analysis
Straight from the start of the 1940's throughout the world constant battle was occurring that soon
came to America. On December 7th 1941 was the day of the attack on Pearl Harbor by Japan and
from that day forward America had joined the World War II which is still to this day the deadliest
conflict in human history. World War II was a challenging war that America did not just fight on
land, air, and sea but simultaneously on their own soil through the process of propaganda.
Propaganda was a major tool of any war which most people do not think about. Winning a war is not
just about having strong soldiers, it is also having the full support of the citizens they were fighting
for so they could have money, food, weapons, and supplies to keep going. ... Show more content on

Mocking versions emotionally instilled fear anger or any emotion to cause a reaction of the people
and would make them very personal to most everyone. " This 1942 poster, titled This is the Enemy,
circulated in the United States following the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. Its purpose was to
embody the entire Japanese nation as a ruthless and animalistic enemy that needed to be defeated "
(Miles). The poster shows a Japanese man coming out of the shadows with a knife ready to stab a
woman who is running away in terror. Every emotion comes to play especially seeing a women in
fear causes people to feel empathy because that could be their wife, mother, or sister being attacked.
" In other words, propaganda is used to influence people psychologically in order to alter social
perceptions " (Miles). Racism in that time period was still at a very high point. People still were not
comfortable with other races being superior to them. The drawings mocked Japanese by making
them have yellow tinted skin, their eyes distinctly narrowed and even their clothing. Also they
would include inaccurate features like long sharp nails or sharp teeth to instill fear into the

Poster Child
How does one really define a catastrophe? Merriam Webster claims that a catastrophe is "a violent
usually destructive natural event (such as a supernova)." When people think of a horrible event a
certain picture or person comes to mind. They associate that event with that person or picture
because it represents that event. In simple terms that picture or person becomes the poster child of
that catastrophic event. A poster child can be both helpful and harmful in a catastrophe. To start,
there are many definitions of a poster child, some simpler than others. According to Urban
Dictionary, a poster child is "a person who is an example of something." While MacMillan
Dictionary states that a poster child is "a child with a particular illness or

Domestic Violence Case Study
1. Describe how you would design a warning poster to caution students in a dorm not to light
candles in their rooms. Be sure to use the research discussed in the textbook that pertains to creating
and placing warning signs and posters. What elements must it have? Where should these posters be
placed?
Posters are very often used mechanisms, the success of posters relies on the message that it portrays.
Negative themes such as picture that are gruesome mangled bodies that says "don't do this or this
will happen" are very unsuccessful. Fearfulness appeals tend to create bitterness, and rage toward a
business and the particular message. The most successful way to portray a message through poster
or warning signs includes stressing positive themes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This does not include violence that is physical but, does make the workplace miserable and stressful.
The second level of violence is unruliness, this includes, making threats or bullying other
subordinates gets aggressive such as punching, kicking, throwing or damaging something out of
their anger, swearing in a loud and harsh manner, showing emotional and irrational behavior when
foiled, or defacing or destroying the businesses property. These behaviors do not include homicide
or and physical assault. Unruliness may be because of an atmosphere of violence and in some cases
they become a significantly prone to be violent. There has been research on workplace violence
which tries to define the characteristics of people who are most likely to attempt destructive acts. A
telephone survey of 300 subordinates had come to a conclusion that alcohol abused was positively
correlated with attempting acts of violence. Heavy drinking had a positive correlation of becoming a
victim of violence.I–O psychologists suggest a number of positive ways that workplace violence can
be deal with, which include, that managers are trained to notice a worker who may be violent.
Strenuous subordinates can be offered counseling. The supervisors can be taught a strategy to give
bad news such as disciplinary actions or even termination. OSHA also came up with ideas to reduce
workplace violence which involve, installing a metal detector, alarm systems, extra lighting, video
camera, and bulletproof varies. Another recommendation by OSHA includes, hiring more security
guards. There was a study of 225 health care professionals in Canada, the researchers had
investigated two main types of organizational support which include instrumental support which is

Mockingbird Poster
For my project, I cut a poster board to make a bird. In fact, I made the mockingbird. I drew the bird
on a white poster board first to experiment. It took me three tries to draw the bird on the white
poster board. I cut the bird out and used the white poster board as a tracer on the black poster board.
Then I cut the final product out on the black poster board. On the bird I taped pictures of Jem, Scout,
and Atticus on there. Under the pictures I wrote and the name and the facts of that character. In the
rest of the space on the bird, I wrote down quotes with the page numbers from the book. I wrote on
the poster board with oil pastels. I chose to do this project because I think it is unique and creative. It
is not just an ordinary poster board. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Atticus looks up to Atticus and pays close attention to everything that Atticus does. Scout takes after
Atticus's wisdom. There is a quote in the book where Scout says, "Until I feared I would lose it, I
never loved to read. One does not love breathing." I feel that Scout is developing her own wisdom,
but that it is coming from the influence of Atticus. Atticus is strict but fair with his kids. He
rationalizes with them and compromises with them while keeping boundaries or rules for them to
follow. My project relates to the theme or quote, "Shoot all the bluejays you want, if you can hit 'em,
but remember it's a sin to kill a mockingbird." My project is the mockingbird. Mockingbirds just
sing for us to enjoy. They do not eat up people's gardens or do anything harmful. Mockingbirds are
innocent creatures. I recommend that for the next class, everyone watches the movie in class. When
the movie is finished, the class should have partners for a chapter to read. Based on their chapter,

Superman Posters
The posters for the Superman films reflect the evolution of the films and the filmic technology to a
great extent and they will be compared with reference to Superman 1978 and Man of Steel as a
whole.
Superman in 1978 is light–hearted while in 2013 he is pensive and stern. In poster 2, his lips and
eyebrows are relaxed revealing his light–hearted personality in contrast to poster 3, where his lips
are slightly parted and eyebrows are frowned, creating an intense facial expression, confirming his
serious personality.
The posters suggest that Superman in 2013 is more powerful that he is in 1978. In poster 1, his
superpowers are not represented and in poster 2, his fist is in the air and his legs are relaxed,
implying that he is just posing. In poster 3, Superman looks as if he is flying at a very high speed
because of the blurry buildings and in poster 4, his fists are clenched, his chest is wide and there is
intensity in his legs indicating that he will conquer the destruction around him. This is reflected in
the films. In 1978, Superman's first flight is shot at a medium angle therefore minimal power and
superiority is suggested but in 2013, his first flight is shot mostly at a low angle which makes him
appear powerful and superior. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When Superman is fighting Zodd in 2013, the lighting is dark and gloomy and the music is piercing
and intense, highlighting the action and the seriousness of the issue in contrast to the mild lighting

Superman seems to be posing in the clouds whereas in poster 3 and 4, he seems to be on a mission
to save the world. In 1978, as reflected in poster 2, he seemed to be showing off his powers like in
the scene when he flies with Lois Lane, whereas in 2013, his powers are used mostly for substantial

Advertising In Advertising
Throughout time many companies change their methods of advertising due to the change in times
and African Americans being accepted into society as equal. In "'Dinnertimin' and 'No Tipping':
How Advertisers Targeted Black Consumers in the 1970s" it goes over some strategies that
companies like Mcdonald's and Winston used to get the attention of African American societies.
While some advertisements used images to represent how "cool and rich" you can be with there
product, others used words that had African American slang in order to catch minorities attention.
Furthermore the author uses these examples to show how effective these advertisements where and
how they have affected the society we live in today. I believe these infomercials were effective
because regardlessly they got a response to their advertisement.
Moreover in order for companies to stay in business they must first be able to catch the audience
attention. During the early 1970s companies such as Coca–Cola and McDonald's did such by
increasing their racial diversity. This indeed changed how companies viewed advertising,
furthermore now they weren't only approaching one kind of race, but also having to advertise
products for minorities. However the first to do this was the Jello company by hiring Bill Cosby, to
be there spokesperson. Unfortunately due to the poor understanding of minorities companies like
McDonald's actually made it worse for African American society by giving them a misleading
demographic of

World War II Propaganda Poster: We Can Do It
For centuries women have been depicted as weak beings when compared to men. In the early days,
women were not allowed to go to work because men did not think they had the same abilities as
they did. The role of a woman was to stay in the house, cook, clean, and take care of the children.
However, through the World War II propaganda poster exclaiming "We Can Do It!" featuring Rosie
the Riveter, women were able to prove that they had the same abilities as men and began a
revolution in the U.S. workforce. The poster was first introduced to the public by J. Howard Miller
in 1942 for an ad agency that was commissioned by the Westinghouse Power Company. The poster
was one of many other commissioned posters to aim at boosting morale amongst both women and
men employees. This project was also aimed to convey the American ideology of hard work,
patriotism, and everyone's necessary war effort, regardless of sex. However this poster, became
more than that and was adopted as a symbol of the feminist movement of the 1980's as well as
modern symbol of female empowerment. ("Ask HISTORY: Rosie the Riveter Video.") At the time
this poster was created, America was in the very midst of World War II. Because of the astounding
amount of U.S. males overseas fighting, there was a major need for women in the workplace. The
poster proclaiming "We Can Do It!" was one of the first propaganda posters used to encourage
women to work in factories and take over the extremely important jobs that the

Publix History
What is your favorite place to go and get anything you need? Is it Walmart, Target, or Publix? If so,
you've probably never referred to either of those as a general store. In all actuality, Walmart, Target,
and Publix are all predecessors of the 19th and early 20th century general store. With large display
windows for all to see the brand new item the store had to offer to the community, a general store
was a necessity for all towns. In fact, some towns were even built around the general store. It was
such an essential for the community that in 1866 the Cape Cod town of Brewster, Massachusetts
converted a church into a general store that is still going today (Fox News, 2012). The general store
offered a variety of things to the community––and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The general store offered a huge variety of merchandise that people normally couldn't get. Whether
it was something they couldn't make, or something that didn't come from around the town (Hays,
"The General Store", 2012), it was always interesting to people to see just what the general store
had. They would get things like medicines, candies, smoking tobacco, and even toiletries like soaps.
After a busy week of working on the farm, the mom would pack lunch, and the dad and kids would
get ready to head to the general store. They didn't only go to get what they needed for the week, but
they also went because it was a special occasion! The kids would walk in and see toys and candies
and all sorts of things that, if they were lucky, they might walk out with. Candy was a delicacy, and
though it didn't really cost a lot, it wasn't a necessity, thus normally overlooked by the parents. As
the mom and the dad would walk around, of course they would see some things that they wanted.

Movie Poster History
The histories of movie posters are amazing. There are so many poster it's unbelievable but anyways
to get this research paper started we have to know where these poster came from. In 1899, Georges
Mellie's, produced the first motion picture to tell a story was the first person to make a motion
picture. The first posters were created in the mid–19th century in France as advertisements for new
products. In less than ten years, the use of posters spread from France throughout the rest of Europe.
(FFFMovie, 2016) This is how big the first movie poster was the first standard film poster size is set
at 27"x41". The posters they produced were strictly censored, which of course led to independent
printers making much more graphic versions for much cheaper. Which aren't all the film posters
over a long period of time were a significant part of the film industry, vital for advertising purposes.
Cinema's inception to television's emergence in the 1950s, print media was the dominant form of
mass media. Print media's vast circulation had the ability to engage the public with advertising
content.

Informative Poster
I created an informative poster for the multimodal portion of this project. An informative poster is
meant to have just enough information on it to catch a persons attention, but not too much that it
overwhelms an individual because then they will not pay attention to the poster. Although there may
not be many words, the poster needs to captivate a viewer so that they will further want to look at
the organization that created the poster. The title of my informative poster is Hybrid Learning and it
is created to help get the hybrid courses more publicized, because as of right now many students and
staff are unaware of the great potential that hybrid courses have to offer. By creating this poster I am
hoping that a student will see the benefits ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is because a poster does not typically have an excessive amount of information, but rather a
few statements and facts that will lead the viewer to want to find out even more information. One
way to captivate a viewer's attention is by using questions to make the reader be directly connected
to whatever the topic may be. I placed an open–ended question at the top right corner of the poster
and it asks "Students around the world are doing it, so why aren't you?" and this will grab any
person passing by regardless if they are my target audience or not. The "you" in the question makes
the poster relatable to individuals and this is where most people will be drawn in to find out what
this question is asking of them. The word choice is very important in the informative poster, but the
structure of a sentence is often times not present. Rather than sentences, the poster has bulleted
points that carry the bulk of words on the poster. In my poster I decided to only have the clear
portrayed of all the information, so that way people will feel encouraged to find out more and to see
the positive reasons as to what would occur if they enrolled in a hybrid course. The red ribbon ends
the bullet points and is an abrupt break in the poster, because I wanted it to pop so that if a person
were to not give the poster much time, then at least they would see that "hybrid learning has higher
success rates," which would make the viewer see the word hybrid learning and then trigger them to
find out what it means. To emphasize to viewers the most important parts to remember, I capitalized
the words. This way the audience is being guided through the poster and seeing every aspect that I
find most influential to an them which will inevitably make them consider enrolling in a hybrid

Spies Poster
Clearly, this poster supports the war efforts by encouraging the people of Canada to refrain from
talking about war, as spies that are associated with enemy countries could listen to their
conversations relating to war, and the spies could implement this information into their own war
plans. Therefore, this is a major issue that concerns Canada as Canadian civilians could leak out
unwanted knowledge to the enemy countries. The historical knowledge that the viewer must need to
fully interpret my poster would be the Canadian government feared sections of their war plan could
leak into the hands of the enemy. As a result, the government passed the War Measures Act, which
granted them full control over the lives of all men and women of Canada. ... Show more content on

This issue among Canada grew out of proportion as thousands of "suspicious people" were confined
in internment camps, which forced them to commit unethical labor. These "suspicious people" even
included citizens that associated themselves with immigrants from enemy countries. Even after this
incident, Canada continued to fear sabotage of security and promoted posters pertaining to keeping
your mouth shut during the war era. These posters caused Canadians to fear speaking in public, as
the posters demonstrated that careless talk will eventually kill or harm someone. Additionally, other
posters regarding this issue would portray people that talked about the war, as enemies and people
that hated their own country. The idea of total war is evident here, as having a social life was
impacted by the war and people who openly talked about war could be slandered by others who
were frightened by these propaganda posters. Clearly, the government caused people of Canada to
fear loose talk, as men and women imagined how words exiting their mouth could be used against
the Canadian army and their loved ones participating in the

Connor and Caroline: A Mystery Short Story
Caroline stood there looking at the man who just saved her life. She watched as he bent over the
dead soldiers, looking through their pockets, looting what little money they had on them. He stood
up, turning towards Caroline reaching over his shoulder repositioning the quiver and bow he wore
on his back. ~He wore the white hood over his head, hiding most of his face from her. His clothing
looked like what most soldiers wore an army coat and pants, but except of the usual brown or blue
his coat was white and blue. He wore delicately woven armbands over his coat on his biceps. He had
a leather bracer on his left forearm. It had a strange symbol on it. It looked like a triangle, but
instead of a complete straight line across the bottom the two edges were slightly rounded with
pointed tips. He had with him two pistols and a tomahawk strapped to his side. The leather strap that
went across his chest held his quiver and bow in place. And instead of boots he wore moccasins with
leather leggings over his pants. He was standing in front of her only a few feet away. He had his
head tilted to the side, watching her. Then he took out his pistol and started to reload it. "We must
leave here. Now." He said in a stern voice as he put his pistol back in his holster. The man motioned
for her to follow as he started towards the busy streets of Boston. Caroline stood there for a moment,
watching him make his way towards the town. Her brain was still trying to process what just

Who do you think is the intended audience?
The intended audience is skilled labored oriented bushmen's and sawmills hands workers. This is
what seems like the recruiting offices were in need for at the time.
Why was it created?
This was created in attempt to recruit labored skilled individuals who would contribute to the valiant
causes of the war. Most likely the individuals who saw this poster thought to themselves this is their
chance to join the military and receive the respect as a "fighting solider" by performing their skilled
trades to help contribute in this war as a form of patriotism.
List evidence from the poster that tells you this.
To support this point, the lumberjack carries his cant hook over his shoulder in a approach similar to

Here, Tripper clearly represents a famous athlete due to his winnings, signature trappings, and his

posters to AND1, as well as, dissemination of posters along with Tripper's shoes indicates that
Topcat's primary purpose is to commercialize Tripper's image for his own gain. Tripper should also
assert a policy argument stating that he needs to be afforded protection against false suggestions of

In this event poster, similarity is effectively used. One can see from the repeating faces and the
words "The rise of women = the rise of the nation" circling the faces in the center of the poster. It
also gives more closure than it would have without the bold, red text. The repetition of faces and
words in different colors in this visual composition makes it pleasing to the eye. The faces are very
similar to each other, but with subtle differences, such as the three mouths, eyelashes, and the beige
face has more hair than the other two. The three faces work well together because they are very
different from each other in color and they have the same texture. The poster is divided
symmetrically with the color beige on the left side and navy blue on the right. The solid navy blue

The Atkins V. Murrey Atkins Library
Libraries customarily serve as providers of vast arrays of knowledge, provoking introspection and
musing enabling the creation of original notions serving as a haven for independent thought, but also
as an area to exchange knowledge. In the case of the J. Murrey Atkins Library–explicitly the ground
floor–the underlying message provided by the facilitators is considerably complex. The Atkins

The Atkins Library gives the impression of being intellectually rewarding, as perceived on the

citizens. In bad times, posters sought to boost morale, increase work production, and remind people
not to grow lazy in their efforts to aid enlisted soldiers. Although critics try to fit posters of the war
into categories or genres, it is difficult because of their wide variety. (Nelson 91) Posters covered
such topics as recruitment, patriotism, and the worker at home. They displayed women's roles in the
war and simple efforts even the elderly and children could make. These efforts included victory
gardens and food, metal, and rubber drives. When the threat of spies in America was a predominant
fear, posters warning of careless talk could be seen everywhere. Two general themes, in which
posters were highly effective, included "those that convey American strength and those that confront
the viewer with the human and emotional costs of war." (Ryan 250) "You can trace the development
of the attitudes toward the war in a poster's choice of subject matter." (Nelson 88) With the
beginning of war, posters tended to take on a hopeful and strong attitude, whereas later on the tone
was inadvertently

Analysis Of Harry Gordon And Bg66 By Bonnie Maclean
Post–World War 2 the world was steadily resetting itself from the aftermath of war. This was a time
where a new generation was coming through, determined to change the world and bring radical
transformation, avoiding the mistakes of the previous generation. With this we saw historical
movements namely the African–American Civil Rights Movement, the Second–Wave of Feminism
and the boom in Consumerism that have shaped the world we live in today. This new way of
thinking brought the 1960s design era, also known as the POP! Movement, with the aim to
challenge what makes good design and blurring quality art with low culture sources. I will focus on
the ideas of Feminism and Consumerism during the POP movement and how the Poster Dresses by
Harry Gordon and BG66 by Bonnie MacLean reflect the two concepts through their design.
Pop brought a radical rethinking towards design, designers asking themselves what their role might
be and how they could design items to help people – either to change the world or to bring some
happiness. The design community agreed there was too much energy being spent to promote
pointless consumerism and not enough advocating important movements happening at the time.
(INSERTREF8) Design had an ability to help communicate messages to the public and this was
very important to designers in the POP movement. In light of this thinking designers sourced
commercial images and incorporated them into their work. Common objects and everyday life were
highlighted

Father Poster Analysis
Image description
The first poster shows a mother and a child who are embracing with a photo of an Australian soldier
in the background– the father of the child. The text says "God bless daddy" (as if the child were
saying it). It then reads "45,000 Australian fathers are fighting!" and finishing off with a rhetorical
question to involve the viewer: "Will you help?"
The second poster features a map of Australia with all of the capital cities labelled in blue. These
labels are crossed out in red and replaced with "New Germany" instead of "Australia" and the cities
have been replaced with German names for cities. This is giving the viewer an idea of what
Australia will become if Germany wins the war. The slogan reads "Australians Arise! Save ... Show

It targets fathers specifically, with the idea that they will make their families proud if they fight in
the war. It is also saying that having a family is no excuse to not go to war, as 45,000 other fathers
are fighting. Finally, it also targets many other people by showing that even people with wives and
children are fighting and therefore, they should help.
The second poster encourages people to join the war to help protect the country from the enemy. It
reflects the sense of nationalism in Australia at the time and also tells the viewer to honor their
monarch.
Comparison
Both images are similar because they were used to encourage many Australians to go to war.
However, there are many differences in these posters regarding the message portrayed and even the
tone of the image.
The first poster is targeted personally, by using an aspect of life that is personal: family. The use of
the rhetorical question also shows this. "Will you help" is seen to be targeted at one person in this
poster. In contrast, the second poster calls "Australians"in general to action. By showing a map of
Australia, and using this term, it is encouraging all Australians to unite and fight Germany.

Using The Kwl Section On The Mathematics Wall
Using the KWL section on the mathematics wall: write down the ideas children already know about
algebra.
And discuss what they might want to learn more about. Add to wall.
Students will watch a brief introduction video to algebra that will refresh previous knowledge and
get them to start thinking algebraically as there are some questions posed and solved in the YouTube
clip.
Resources: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lk2KHkLJ_J4 Using the class iPads, students will
explore visual patterns and how numbers can be used to describe the patterns through the Bridge
Builder game.
Students may work individually or in pairs.
This task will introduce the children to increasing sequences through a fun game. They are required
to build a bridge so the truck can cross the water, but as they go, they must identify the number of
beams being used, and how many times the structure must be repeated to complete the sequence.
This data is presented in a table and a graph which allows them to see the emerging patterns. Adding
to the frontloading activity, teach and explore basic ideas of how equations can relate to visual
patterns. This will set them up for the Bridge Builder game.
Explain definitions whenever necessary.
Ask questions to prompt algebraic thinking i.e. 'What pattern can you see from the table and graph'
in the bridge building game.
'Using your words, how would you describe the pattern/rule'
Explain that an engineer or a mathematician would write this as n x 3 or 3 x

Have you ever wanted to get away from the rush of the 21st century, and go somewhere peaceful? I
had that option, and I took it. I chose to travel back to when it was serene, back to 1845. I was
walking down the street to clear my head, after a fight with my wife. I was angry, she was
disappointed, and I just felt like I needed a new start. A man by the name of Pierce Larkin
approached me, and offered me a deal. A chance for a clean slate. I accepted the offer. I made a
deadly mistake. I awoke near a pristine, crystal clear, blue brook, untouched by mankind. A brisk

It shows you how many beats are in a measure and which note gets the beat. How to read a time
signature is pretty easy. The top number shows how many beats are in the measure and the bottom
number shows what note gets the beat. So that means that the one on the poster is saying that there
are 6 beats per measure and the eighth note gets the beat. Now that you know about the time
signature I will tell you about the 3 basic notes. First is the whole note. The whole note when played
in 4/4 time has 4 beats and takes up the whole measure. The whole note is equal to 2 half notes. A
half note in 4/4 time has 2 beats. Next one whole note, and 2 half notes equal 4 quarter notes. A
quarter note when played in 4/4 time equals 1 beat. Although it isn't on the poster this continues.
Finally to understand basic music you need to know about key signatures. A key signature tells you
to maintain those sharps or flats throughout the music, unless there's a natural symbol to override it.
The key signatures on the poster are just a few examples. First I will tell you about the one with
sharps on it. There is the G Major in this major there is only one sharp the F. Next there is the D
Major the sharps are the F and C. Finally the last key signature with sharps is the A Major. It has the
F, C, and G sharps. Next is the key signature with flats on it. There is the F Major in this major there
is only one flat the B. Next there is the Bb Major the flats are the B and E.

White Chicks Poster
The poster used to promote the movie "White Chicks", stars the two main protagonists of the film,
the Wayans brothers. Due to the subtle nature of the creator's design choices, the average viewer
may not pick up on the many intricacies that may very well affect the viewer's perception of the
poster. At first glance, the poster is able to summarily explain the plot of the story to the viewer of
the poster. Clearly shown, the protagonists are black undercover cops who will undergo a
transformation into two white women in the film. The design of the poster forces one's eyes to view
the badges that each of the "girls" is holding. Most likely, the designer wanted the premise of the
movie to be given away to anyone viewing the poster. Therefore, making the decision to put the
badges in the "front" of the poster along with the "girls"gives a clear main focus of the film. Another
key element of this poster is that the color scheme, design, and font of the poster are all designed to
give off a friendlier and light–hearted vibe. As a comedy, this is a rational choice by the designer to
attract the target audience the producers intended to view the film. The movie targets teenagers to

Bringing Joy At The Poverty
Bringing Joy to People in Poverty Giving back to those who are less fortunate is something that
should be obliged as being an individual who is a part of the community. For some people, their
necessities are evident. When we see someone without a proper backpack or needed school supplies,
it could be that their family does not have the money to get them these things. When people go to a
clothes closet, it's because that they are in need of clothes and can't afford it. When children who
didn't received a gift for Christmas, it's because their parents couldn't afford it due to their low
income. Those less fortunate people in our community that need certain necessities isn't so evident.

Indeed, I hope to gain by completing this project is that the gratification of assisting individuals such

this project is that to implement ways to get involved and help the community. The issue we have
chosen to address with the service project is that many innocent people are living in poverty and it
isn't right to live that way due to their low income, which leads to decreasing the individual 's
happiness and reduce their ability to thrive and succeed. By this issue, there are people affected
because many families can't supply the right items or supplies for themselves due to low income.
According to the United States Census Bureau, in 2014, about 46.7 million people are suffering
from this issue alone in the United States. The number of people living in poverty is slightly rising
each year. Yet, organizations such as the Family Giving Tree and the Milpitas Food Pantry exist to
address the issue we picked. The plan we had created as a group has four parts to it. First, we needed
to contact the organization about where to deliver the donations, since the Family Giving Tree had a
warehouse and a office located at different places and we weren't sure where to deliver the
donations. We

Therefore I believe that this poster serves as a great representation of all of these themes of
Macbeth. This poster represents Macbeth's power as it displays a crown on his head with a weapon
in his hand. Macbeth misuses his power and authority as the Thane of Cawdor and decides to break

Valeria Napoleone XX and Co–curator Nayia Yiakoumaki in helping the feminist group exhibit their

Revisiting back to their past project in 1986, the 'It's even worse in Europe' exhibition which
targeted mainstream art museum directors and artists, the Guerrilla Girls come back in 2016 to
question whether their original statistics have shifted over time.
Areas that the Guerrilla Girls particularly engage in are the cases of feminism, racism and sexism
particularly situated around the arts.
With this project, we wanted to pose the question 'Are museums today presenting a diverse history
of contemporary art or the history of money and power?' We focus on the understory, the subtext,
the overlooked and the downright unfair. Art can't be reduced to the small number of artists who
have won a popularity contest among bigtime dealers, curators and collectors. Unless museums and
Kunsthallen show as diverse as the cultures they claim to represent, they're just preserving the
history of wealth and power. ("Whitechapel gallery – Guerrilla Girls" web).

Comparing Two Posters
In light of the strengths and weaknesses of the two presented posters, it is apparent that both posters
present individual characteristics that both benefit and hinder its ability to relay its main points to
whoever attempts to review them. For example, the poster involving the microsponges of functional
peptide beta (β) sheets provides the benefit of an abundance of information and a methodical
approach to presenting data that displays specificity, extensive research, and scientific inquiry.
However, the poster's extensive use of data charts and excessive pictorial imagery acts as a
superfluous addition to a research poster as it serves clutter an individual's ability to focus on the
main points of the poster and hinders its efficacy. The poster also displays an evident documentation
of its sources in addition to providing significant clarity on the procedures used for the experiment.
However, the layout proves to be too clustered in terms of information arrangement which obscures
the clarity of the content in a manner that is better fit for a research article than a poster. In light of
the second poster involving the occurrence of growth in organizations run by purposeful CEOs, the
poster provides the benefit of a directional format and sparsely used pictures that present the
information in a way that carefully leads the reviewer's attention. The layout of the poster is also
simplistic and clearly distributed in a manner that is understood by the arrow figures in the poster.
However, the poster's lack of sufficient documentation of its information and its informal manner of
explanation does hinder its ability to provide credible information along with supported research.

Join This Year Aas Meeting
I would say that I am fairly lucky to have a chance to join this year AAS meeting because not many

attending my first "Astropy" workshop and presenting the progress of my current research project
about finding galaxy clusters. The size and the scale of this meeting is completely different from my
first scientific meeting I attended last year in Vietnam. There are more than ten sessions running at
the same time covered not only all kinds of research topics in astrophysics from exoplanet to
cosmology, but also public outreach and other astrophysics–related topics such as coding and
writing papers. The conference can easily felt overwhelming as many events occurs simultaneously.
I can only write about the conference from my own perspective, and keep in mind that each one of
us will have a totally different experience.

Movie Analysis : The Movie ' Moana '
Introduction
When most people think about Disney movies, their mind often goes to the stereotypical princess
movies in which the protagonist wears a pink ball gown. Time and time again these princesses must
fight their way through the story in a luxurious ball gown in order to end up with a prince. However,
there are many Disney movies that work to challenge these gender stereotypes. The movie Moana is
a recent example of a Disney production that works to break the imposed stereotypes placed on
children from an early age.
The Moana movie poster in itself is a perfect example of challenging gender expectations. Through
the look at the target audience, color, and the context of the poster, one can better understand how

The inspiration young girls may gather from the movie poster is amplified by the text above
Moana's head. "Brave Like the Sea." This text implies that Moana is as brave as the sea, something
not often portrayed by other advertisements. "Brave" is a word often applied to males only, leaving
females completely out of the narrative that they could ever exhibit this trait. However, this poster
flips the switch and boldly states that a female is capable of being brave, and provides a strong
example for the audience.
Color
Along with taking on an athletic role, Moana goes against gender stereotypes with her clothing.
Typically, Disney assigns various shades of pink or other societally feminine colors to their
characters. Moana however, wears a bold red shade. This is significant as not only is it not
considered a feminine color, but it is a color associated with bravery and heroism. Disney's decision
to place Moana in red, matches with the text provided on the movie poster. The poster itself is
mostly three colors: the blue of the sea, Moana's red clothing, and the white text. Focusing on the
background of the poster, the blue is significant in itself. Blue is heavily considered to be a male
color, which can be seen as early as birth when babies are wrapped either a pink or blue blanket
depending on their sex. The blue in the poster also goes back to the oar in Moana's hand. Like
mentioned earlier, vigorous water sports are typically

Propaganda Posters
As a way to justify the war many countries used propaganda posters. This helped fund the war as
well as recruit new soldiers. I chose the propaganda posters that used women as means to make the
men feel guilty, or maybe feel like they were honoring their family. These posters from the Library
of Congress show many different perspectives. The posters are from two different years and you
could interpret each one differently. It shows how the war changed in two years. In the poster titled
'"Women of Britain say–––"Go!"' shows the women watching their men march away. This photo
was taken in 1915, which shows how the women felt about war. In the poster called "Gee!! I wish I
were a man, I'd join the Navy" shows that the women wanted to be a part of the war. This shows
maybe they were tired of being at home and feeling like they weren't contributing. This poster was
created in 1917 which was two years after my previous poster and as you can see women have
changed how they see war. It was obvious that they used women in couple different ways to guilt or
persuade men into entering the war. I will try to compare the differences and similarities in how they

other poster they guilted the men by saying at the bottom of the poster, "Be a Man and Do It". I am
sure this made the men feel they had to because if they didn't they would be considered less of a
man. This wasn't just in the public eyes but in the family's eyes as well. How could you live with

I did an additional google search to see if I could find a more specific source to help me and I was
pleasantly surprised with what I found. This search lead me to another source titled Police Reform
and Social Responsibility Bill. This source was only about arrest warrants and went in–depth on
what they exactly are. This article was particularly helpful because it focused on the United
Kingdom so I was then better able to create this arrest warrant to the degree that it would have been
created for Ricky's case. This article goes into detail on when the warrant should be issued and what
the prosecutor must do to get the warrant. This journal helps the reader better understand what the
Police Reform and Social Responsibility bill means. It says, "The effect of the clause is to require
the consent of the Director of Public Prosecutions before an arrest warrant can be issued in private
prosecutions for offenses where universal jurisdiction applies."
I now understood what must happen before an arrest warrant could be created I now had to figure
out what an arrest warrant really looked like. To do this I figured a visual representation would give
me a good start. I looked up United Kingdom arrest warrant examples and used that as a loose

Pearl Harbor Propaganda Analysis

  • 1. Pearl Harbor Propaganda Analysis Straight from the start of the 1940's throughout the world constant battle was occurring that soon came to America. On December 7th 1941 was the day of the attack on Pearl Harbor by Japan and from that day forward America had joined the World War II which is still to this day the deadliest conflict in human history. World War II was a challenging war that America did not just fight on land, air, and sea but simultaneously on their own soil through the process of propaganda. Propaganda was a major tool of any war which most people do not think about. Winning a war is not just about having strong soldiers, it is also having the full support of the citizens they were fighting for so they could have money, food, weapons, and supplies to keep going. ... " This 1942 poster, titled This is the Enemy, circulated in the United States following the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. Its purpose was to embody the entire Japanese nation as a ruthless and animalistic enemy that needed to be defeated " (Miles). The poster shows a Japanese man coming out of the shadows with a knife ready to stab a woman who is running away in terror. Every emotion comes to play especially seeing a women in fear causes people to feel empathy because that could be their wife, mother, or sister being attacked. " In other words, propaganda is used to influence people psychologically in order to alter social perceptions " (Miles). Racism in that time period was still at a very high point. People still were not comfortable with other races being superior to them. The drawings mocked Japanese by making them have yellow tinted skin, their eyes distinctly narrowed and even their clothing. • 3. Poster Child How does one really define a catastrophe? Merriam Webster claims that a catastrophe is "a violent usually destructive natural event (such as a supernova)." When people think of a horrible event a certain picture or person comes to mind. They associate that event with that person or picture because it represents that event. In simple terms that picture or person becomes the poster child of that catastrophic event. A poster child can be both helpful and harmful in a catastrophe. To start, there are many definitions of a poster child, some simpler than others. According to Urban Dictionary, a poster child is "a person who is an example of something." • 5. Domestic Violence Case Study 1. Describe how you would design a warning poster to caution students in a dorm not to light candles in their rooms. Be sure to use the research discussed in the textbook that pertains to creating and placing warning signs and posters. What elements must it have? Where should these posters be placed? Posters are very often used mechanisms, the success of posters relies on the message that it portrays. Negative themes such as picture that are gruesome mangled bodies that says "don't do this or this will happen" are very unsuccessful. Fearfulness appeals tend to create bitterness, and rage toward a business and the particular message. The most successful way to portray a message through poster or warning signs includes stressing positive themes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This does not include violence that is physical but, does make the workplace miserable and stressful. The second level of violence is unruliness, this includes, making threats or bullying other subordinates gets aggressive such as punching, kicking, throwing or damaging something out of their anger, swearing in a loud and harsh manner, showing emotional and irrational behavior when foiled, or defacing or destroying the businesses property. These behaviors do not include homicide or and physical assault. Unruliness may be because of an atmosphere of violence and in some cases they become a significantly prone to be violent. There has been research on workplace violence which tries to define the characteristics of people who are most likely to attempt destructive acts. A telephone survey of 300 subordinates had come to a conclusion that alcohol abused was positively correlated with attempting acts of violence. Heavy drinking had a positive correlation of becoming a victim of violence.I–O psychologists suggest a number of positive ways that workplace violence can be deal with, which include, that managers are trained to notice a worker who may be violent. Strenuous subordinates can be offered counseling. The supervisors can be taught a strategy to give bad news such as disciplinary actions or even termination. OSHA also came up with ideas to reduce workplace violence which involve, installing a metal detector, alarm systems, extra lighting, video camera, and bulletproof varies. • 7. Mockingbird Poster For my project, I cut a poster board to make a bird. In fact, I made the mockingbird. I drew the bird on a white poster board first to experiment. It took me three tries to draw the bird on the white poster board. I cut the bird out and used the white poster board as a tracer on the black poster board. Then I cut the final product out on the black poster board. On the bird I taped pictures of Jem, Scout, and Atticus on there. Under the pictures I wrote and the name and the facts of that character. In the rest of the space on the bird, I wrote down quotes with the page numbers from the book. I wrote on the poster board with oil pastels. I chose to do this project because I think it is unique and creative. It is not just an ordinary poster board. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Atticus looks up to Atticus and pays close attention to everything that Atticus does. Scout takes after Atticus's wisdom. There is a quote in the book where Scout says, "Until I feared I would lose it, I never loved to read. One does not love breathing." I feel that Scout is developing her own wisdom, but that it is coming from the influence of Atticus. Atticus is strict but fair with his kids. He rationalizes with them and compromises with them while keeping boundaries or rules for them to follow. My project relates to the theme or quote, "Shoot all the bluejays you want, if you can hit 'em, but remember it's a sin to kill a mockingbird." My project is the mockingbird. Mockingbirds just sing for us to enjoy. They do not eat up people's gardens or do anything harmful. Mockingbirds are innocent creatures. • 9. Superman Posters The posters for the Superman films reflect the evolution of the films and the filmic technology to a great extent and they will be compared with reference to Superman 1978 and Man of Steel as a whole. Superman in 1978 is light–hearted while in 2013 he is pensive and stern. In poster 2, his lips and eyebrows are relaxed revealing his light–hearted personality in contrast to poster 3, where his lips are slightly parted and eyebrows are frowned, creating an intense facial expression, confirming his serious personality. The posters suggest that Superman in 2013 is more powerful that he is in 1978. In poster 1, his superpowers are not represented and in poster 2, his fist is in the air and his legs are relaxed, implying that he is just posing. In poster 3, Superman looks as if he is flying at a very high speed because of the blurry buildings and in poster 4, his fists are clenched, his chest is wide and there is intensity in his legs indicating that he will conquer the destruction around him. This is reflected in the films. In 1978, Superman's first flight is shot at a medium angle therefore minimal power and superiority is suggested but in 2013, his first flight is shot mostly at a low angle which makes him appear powerful and superior. ... • 11. Advertising In Advertising Throughout time many companies change their methods of advertising due to the change in times and African Americans being accepted into society as equal. In "'Dinnertimin' and 'No Tipping': How Advertisers Targeted Black Consumers in the 1970s" it goes over some strategies that companies like Mcdonald's and Winston used to get the attention of African American societies. While some advertisements used images to represent how "cool and rich" you can be with there product, others used words that had African American slang in order to catch minorities attention. Furthermore the author uses these examples to show how effective these advertisements where and how they have affected the society we live in today. I believe these infomercials were effective because regardlessly they got a response to their advertisement. Moreover in order for companies to stay in business they must first be able to catch the audience attention. During the early 1970s companies such as Coca–Cola and McDonald's did such by increasing their racial diversity. This indeed changed how companies viewed advertising, furthermore now they weren't only approaching one kind of race, but also having to advertise products for minorities. However the first to do this was the Jello company by hiring Bill Cosby, to be there spokesperson. Unfortunately due to the poor understanding of minorities companies like McDonald's actually made it worse for African American society by giving them a misleading demographic of ... • 13. World War II Propaganda Poster: We Can Do It For centuries women have been depicted as weak beings when compared to men. In the early days, women were not allowed to go to work because men did not think they had the same abilities as they did. The role of a woman was to stay in the house, cook, clean, and take care of the children. However, through the World War II propaganda poster exclaiming "We Can Do It!" featuring Rosie the Riveter, women were able to prove that they had the same abilities as men and began a revolution in the U.S. workforce. The poster was first introduced to the public by J. Howard Miller in 1942 for an ad agency that was commissioned by the Westinghouse Power Company. The poster was one of many other commissioned posters to aim at boosting morale amongst both women and men employees. This project was also aimed to convey the American ideology of hard work, patriotism, and everyone's necessary war effort, regardless of sex. However this poster, became more than that and was adopted as a symbol of the feminist movement of the 1980's as well as modern symbol of female empowerment. ("Ask HISTORY: Rosie the Riveter Video.") At the time this poster was created, America was in the very midst of World War II. Because of the astounding amount of U.S. males overseas fighting, there was a major need for women in the workplace. The poster proclaiming "We Can Do It!" was one of the first propaganda posters used to encourage women to work in factories and take over the extremely important jobs that the ... In all actuality, Walmart, Target, and Publix are all predecessors of the 19th and early 20th century general store. With large display windows for all to see the brand new item the store had to offer to the community, a general store was a necessity for all towns. In fact, some towns were even built around the general store. It was such an essential for the community that in 1866 the Cape Cod town of Brewster, Massachusetts converted a church into a general store that is still going today (Fox News, 2012). The general store offered a huge variety of merchandise that people normally couldn't get. Whether it was something they couldn't make, or something that didn't come from around the town (Hays, "The General Store", 2012), it was always interesting to people to see just what the general store had. They would get things like medicines, candies, smoking tobacco, and even toiletries like soaps. After a busy week of working on the farm, the mom would pack lunch, and the dad and kids would get ready to head to the general store. They didn't only go to get what they needed for the week, but they also went because it was a special occasion! The kids would walk in and see toys and candies and all sorts of things that, if they were lucky, they might walk out with. Candy was a delicacy, and though it didn't really cost a lot, it wasn't a necessity, thus normally overlooked by the parents. In 1899, Georges Mellie's, produced the first motion picture to tell a story was the first person to make a motion picture. An informative poster is meant to have just enough information on it to catch a persons attention, but not too much that it overwhelms an individual because then they will not pay attention to the poster. Although there may not be many words, the poster needs to captivate a viewer so that they will further want to look at the organization that created the poster. This is because a poster does not typically have an excessive amount of information, but rather a few statements and facts that will lead the viewer to want to find out even more information. One way to captivate a viewer's attention is by using questions to make the reader be directly connected to whatever the topic may be. I placed an open–ended question at the top right corner of the poster and it asks "Students around the world are doing it, so why aren't you?" and this will grab any person passing by regardless if they are my target audience or not. The "you" in the question makes the poster relatable to individuals and this is where most people will be drawn in to find out what this question is asking of them. The word choice is very important in the informative poster, but the structure of a sentence is often times not present. Rather than sentences, the poster has bulleted points that carry the bulk of words on the poster. In my poster I decided to only have the clear portrayed of all the information, so that way people will feel encouraged to find out more and to see the positive reasons as to what would occur if they enrolled in a hybrid course. The red ribbon ends the bullet points and is an abrupt break in the poster, because I wanted it to pop so that if a person were to not give the poster much time, then at least they would see that "hybrid learning has higher success rates," which would make the viewer see the word hybrid learning and then trigger them to find out what it means. To emphasize to viewers the most important parts to remember, I capitalized the words. This way the audience is being guided through the poster and seeing every aspect that I find most influential to an them which will inevitably make them consider enrolling in a hybrid ... Spies Poster Clearly, this poster supports the war efforts by encouraging the people of Canada to refrain from talking about war, as spies that are associated with enemy countries could listen to their conversations relating to war, and the spies could implement this information into their own war plans. Therefore, this is a major issue that concerns Canada as Canadian civilians could leak out unwanted knowledge to the enemy countries. The historical knowledge that the viewer must need to fully interpret my poster would be the Canadian government feared sections of their war plan could leak into the hands of the enemy. As a result, the government passed the War Measures Act, which granted them full control over the lives of all men and women of Canada. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This issue among Canada grew out of proportion as thousands of "suspicious people" were confined in internment camps, which forced them to commit unethical labor. These "suspicious people" even included citizens that associated themselves with immigrants from enemy countries. Even after this incident, Canada continued to fear sabotage of security and promoted posters pertaining to keeping your mouth shut during the war era. These posters caused Canadians to fear speaking in public, as the posters demonstrated that careless talk will eventually kill or harm someone. Additionally, other posters regarding this issue would portray people that talked about the war, as enemies and people that hated their own country. The idea of total war is evident here, as having a social life was impacted by the war and people who openly talked about war could be slandered by others who were frightened by these propaganda posters. Clearly, the government caused people of Canada to fear loose talk, as men and women imagined how words exiting their mouth could be used against the Canadian army and their loved ones participating in the ... She watched as he bent over the dead soldiers, looking through their pockets, looting what little money they had on them. He stood up, turning towards Caroline reaching over his shoulder repositioning the quiver and bow he wore on his back. ~He wore the white hood over his head, hiding most of his face from her. His clothing looked like what most soldiers wore an army coat and pants, but except of the usual brown or blue his coat was white and blue. He wore delicately woven armbands over his coat on his biceps. He had a leather bracer on his left forearm. It had a strange symbol on it. It looked like a triangle, but instead of a complete straight line across the bottom the two edges were slightly rounded with pointed tips. He had with him two pistols and a tomahawk strapped to his side. The leather strap that went across his chest held his quiver and bow in place. And instead of boots he wore moccasins with leather leggings over his pants. He was standing in front of her only a few feet away. He had his head tilted to the side, watching her. Then he took out his pistol and started to reload it. "We must leave here. Now." He said in a stern voice as he put his pistol back in his holster. The man motioned for her to follow as he started towards the busy streets of Boston. Caroline stood there for a moment, watching him make his way towards the town. One can see from the repeating faces and the words "The rise of women = the rise of the nation" circling the faces in the center of the poster. It also gives more closure than it would have without the bold, red text. The repetition of faces and words in different colors in this visual composition makes it pleasing to the eye. The faces are very similar to each other, but with subtle differences, such as the three mouths, eyelashes, and the beige face has more hair than the other two. The three faces work well together because they are very different from each other in color and they have the same texture. Murrey Atkins Library Libraries customarily serve as providers of vast arrays of knowledge, provoking introspection and musing enabling the creation of original notions serving as a haven for independent thought, but also as an area to exchange knowledge. In the case of the J. Murrey Atkins Library–explicitly the ground floor–the underlying message provided by the facilitators is considerably complex. The Atkins Library, is committed to being academically resourceful and reliable, striving to preserve a tranquil and safe environment for students; ensuring comfort, socialization, and multitasking in a diverse setting. This message is insinuated in posters and signs exhibited throughout the ground floor, the technologically advanced appliances, the wide variety of seating arrangements, and the alarm systems, scattered across the ceiling. The Atkins Library gives the impression of being intellectually rewarding, as perceived on the ground floor; however, whether students take advantage of this situation depends solely on the individual. Influencing A War Poster Analysis Anna Von Hoene Mark Flickinger Art History 1 December 9, 2015 Influencing a War: The Role of Poster Art in World War II America While many methods were used in which to advertise the war to the American people, perhaps none came as near to everyday life as the posters of World War II. Posters were a popular and active source of information for the American people. They followed the existing issues of the home front, as well as the condition of the war overseas. Wartime posters covered as many topics as possible in order to send a message to everyone. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... "War posters deal with life, death, truth, justice and the fate of nations." (Nelson 85) In good times they emphasized America's unity as a nation and offered even more ways to help as individual citizens. In bad times, posters sought to boost morale, increase work production, and remind people not to grow lazy in their efforts to aid enlisted soldiers. Although critics try to fit posters of the war into categories or genres, it is difficult because of their wide variety. (Nelson 91) Posters covered such topics as recruitment, patriotism, and the worker at home. They displayed women's roles in the war and simple efforts even the elderly and children could make. These efforts included victory gardens and food, metal, and rubber drives. When the threat of spies in America was a predominant fear, posters warning of careless talk could be seen everywhere. Two general themes, in which posters were highly effective, included "those that convey American strength and those that confront the viewer with the human and emotional costs of war." • 40. Analysis Of Harry Gordon And Bg66 By Bonnie Maclean Post–World War 2 the world was steadily resetting itself from the aftermath of war. This was a time where a new generation was coming through, determined to change the world and bring radical transformation, avoiding the mistakes of the previous generation. With this we saw historical movements namely the African–American Civil Rights Movement, the Second–Wave of Feminism and the boom in Consumerism that have shaped the world we live in today. This new way of thinking brought the 1960s design era, also known as the POP! Movement, with the aim to challenge what makes good design and blurring quality art with low culture sources. I will focus on the ideas of Feminism and Consumerism during the POP movement and how the Poster Dresses by Harry Gordon and BG66 by Bonnie MacLean reflect the two concepts through their design. Pop brought a radical rethinking towards design, designers asking themselves what their role might be and how they could design items to help people – either to change the world or to bring some happiness. The design community agreed there was too much energy being spent to promote pointless consumerism and not enough advocating important movements happening at the time. (INSERTREF8) Design had an ability to help communicate messages to the public and this was very important to designers in the POP movement. In light of this thinking designers sourced commercial images and incorporated them into their work. Common objects and everyday life were highlighted ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Clearly shown, the protagonists are black undercover cops who will undergo a transformation into two white women in the film. The design of the poster forces one's eyes to view the badges that each of the "girls" is holding. Most likely, the designer wanted the premise of the movie to be given away to anyone viewing the poster. Therefore, making the decision to put the badges in the "front" of the poster along with the "girls"gives a clear main focus of the film. Another key element of this poster is that the color scheme, design, and font of the poster are all designed to give off a friendlier and light–hearted vibe. First, we needed to contact the organization about where to deliver the donations, since the Family Giving Tree had a warehouse and a office located at different places and we weren't sure where to deliver the donations. • 58. The Macbeth Poster The Macbeth poster I chose contains numerous elements which accurately display the content of the play. In the play some of the main themes are power, ambition, evil, violence, and manipulation. Therefore I believe that this poster serves as a great representation of all of these themes of Macbeth. This poster represents Macbeth's power as it displays a crown on his head with a weapon in his hand. Macbeth misuses his power and authority as the Thane of Cawdor and decides to break his loyalty with King Duncan by turning on him by murdering him. Macbeth's ambition drove him to make bad decisions, which affected him both physically and mentally. Another piece of content this poster reflects is the evil that occurs constantly throughout this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 60. The Guerrilla Girls By Valeria Napoleone Xx And Co Curator... 'Is it even worse in Europe?' the Guerrilla Girls' latest exhibition questions and examines todays art museums in Europe on the controversial subject of diversity. This exhibition was supported by Valeria Napoleone XX and Co–curator Nayia Yiakoumaki in helping the feminist group exhibit their work at the Whitechapel gallery. Revisiting back to their past project in 1986, the 'It's even worse in Europe' exhibition which targeted mainstream art museum directors and artists, the Guerrilla Girls come back in 2016 to question whether their original statistics have shifted over time. Areas that the Guerrilla Girls particularly engage in are the cases of feminism, racism and sexism particularly situated around the arts. With this project, we wanted to pose the question 'Are museums today presenting a diverse history of contemporary art or the history of money and power?' We focus on the understory, the subtext, the overlooked and the downright unfair. Art can't be reduced to the small number of artists who have won a popularity contest among bigtime dealers, curators and collectors. Unless museums and Kunsthallen show as diverse as the cultures they claim to represent, they're just preserving the history of wealth and power. ("Whitechapel gallery – Guerrilla Girls" web). When approaching the Whitechapel Gallery in London, I was instantaneously drawn to the iconic, bold banners mounted up on the gallery building, along with images pasted on the windows showing the Guerrilla ... • 62. Comparing Two Posters In light of the strengths and weaknesses of the two presented posters, it is apparent that both posters present individual characteristics that both benefit and hinder its ability to relay its main points to whoever attempts to review them. For example, the poster involving the microsponges of functional peptide beta (β) sheets provides the benefit of an abundance of information and a methodical approach to presenting data that displays specificity, extensive research, and scientific inquiry. However, the poster's extensive use of data charts and excessive pictorial imagery acts as a superfluous addition to a research poster as it serves clutter an individual's ability to focus on the main points of the poster and hinders its efficacy. The poster also displays an evident documentation of its sources in addition to providing significant clarity on the procedures used for the experiment. However, the layout proves to be too clustered in terms of information arrangement which obscures the clarity of the content in a manner that is better fit for a research article than a poster. In light of the second poster involving the occurrence of growth in organizations run by purposeful CEOs, the poster provides the benefit of a directional format and sparsely used pictures that present the information in a way that carefully leads the reviewer's attention. The layout of the poster is also simplistic and clearly distributed in a manner that is understood by the arrow figures in the poster. However, the poster's lack of sufficient documentation of its information and its informal manner of explanation does hinder its ability to provide credible information along with supported research. ... • 64. The Poster Of The Conjuring Description: Immediately catching the eye when on looks upon this poster of The Conjuring is a a dark noose contrasted against a lighter colored and overcast sky. The noose is in the center of the poster hanging from a dead and decrepit limb that is protruding from a dead tree full of blacks and browns. There is a pile of dead leaves resting underneath the tree and through further observation, there seems to be a silhouette of a woman hanging from the aforementioned noose. Slightly left of the noose directly in the middle of the page is an old mansion resting in between a plethora dead bushes, trees and some weeds. The mansion 's front, sides, and back are all white while the roof has black shingles accompanied with two tan chimneys and a dormer. The mansion is sitting upon a lush, mist covered green yard of short grass with dead leafs scattered throughout. On the bottom left side of the page there is some small white text informing viewers of who is presenting the poster and movie. This is a James Wan directed movie and produced by New Line Cinema. On the topmost part of the screen there is a line of dark text telling viewers that James Wan, the director of The Conjuring, also directed the movies Saw and Insidious which are two critically acclaimed movies. Under that text, still in the middle of the page and above the aforementioned tree limb, is the title of the movie written in large, bold, and black colors, The Conjuring, directly underneath the title is some ... • 66. Join This Year Aas Meeting I would say that I am fairly lucky to have a chance to join this year AAS meeting because not many first–year graduate students usually come to the meeting. My main goals for this meeting are attending my first "Astropy" workshop and presenting the progress of my current research project about finding galaxy clusters. The size and the scale of this meeting is completely different from my first scientific meeting I attended last year in Vietnam. There are more than ten sessions running at the same time covered not only all kinds of research topics in astrophysics from exoplanet to cosmology, but also public outreach and other astrophysics–related topics such as coding and writing papers. The conference can easily felt overwhelming as many events occurs simultaneously. I can only write about the conference from my own perspective, and keep in mind that each one of us will have a totally different experience. Astropy: astrophysics package for Python Non–Academic Events Even though the Opening Reception for the conference starts on Monday evening, my first event at conference started at 9am on Monday for a Python workshop. I had previously attend few workshops about Python program, but this is the first one that targeted specifically people working in astronomy. The organizers, which mainly consisted of astropy volunteers, started the workshop with an introduction about numpy and astropy. Astropy is a project of unifying all astro–related python packages into one package that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Coming Attraction Poster Author Study Activities related to Patricia Polacco Activity 1: Coming Attraction Poster The students have just found out that one of Patricia Polacco's books has been chosen to be made into a movie. Each student is responsible for making a Coming Attraction Poster that will be hung in all the local movie theaters. Each student will have already chosen and read the book. The poster (12" x 18" construction paper) should include title/author/illustrator. They are to list all the important characters to the story. Students can also assign an actor/friend to portray the different characters. An example of this would be Mr. Falker played by Tom Hanks. Students will then illustrate one scene from the book, and finally write a short paragraph explaining ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Of course everyone will be aware of the questions, because this will be written like a script. There will be a Host who will introduce the "show" and explain the rules, and an assistant, who will determine when the mystery guest has stumped a panelist, and then the mystery guest will earn a certain amount money, determined by the Panelist Cooperative Group before the Readers Theater. During the question/answer period, the panelists will be blindfolded, but of course not completely because in Readers Theater it is more about fluency (which is one of the 5th grade standards in Nevada) and not memorization. The mystery guests will design their costumes. It doesn't need to be very elaborate, but something eye–catching to the audience. The class may then present their Readers Theater to other classes! All questions/responses will be used in the script. One person from each group will work on putting the script together after all information has been ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 70. Macbeth Poster In both posters, the person in them has features of a castle. You could also say they literally have features of a castle. Castle walls included. The features of the castle on the first poster are made to look more like a crown than anything, but in the second poster you get another idea that is not so royal. It looks as if the walls are overbearing the man in the second poster. They are blocking his eyesight and holding him back like they are restraining him. This does not look like a poster you would see for a completely happy story like a comedy. The message these posters gives off is a sad one. As if the man, Macbeth is as I said, restrained. • 72. Movie Analysis : The Movie ' Moana ' Introduction When most people think about Disney movies, their mind often goes to the stereotypical princess movies in which the protagonist wears a pink ball gown. Time and time again these princesses must fight their way through the story in a luxurious ball gown in order to end up with a prince. However, there are many Disney movies that work to challenge these gender stereotypes. The movie Moana is a recent example of a Disney production that works to break the imposed stereotypes placed on children from an early age. The Moana movie poster in itself is a perfect example of challenging gender expectations. Through the look at the target audience, color, and the context of the poster, one can better understand how Moana challenges ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The inspiration young girls may gather from the movie poster is amplified by the text above Moana's head. "Brave Like the Sea." This text implies that Moana is as brave as the sea, something not often portrayed by other advertisements. "Brave" is a word often applied to males only, leaving females completely out of the narrative that they could ever exhibit this trait. However, this poster flips the switch and boldly states that a female is capable of being brave, and provides a strong example for the audience. Color Along with taking on an athletic role, Moana goes against gender stereotypes with her clothing. Typically, Disney assigns various shades of pink or other societally feminine colors to their characters. Moana however, wears a bold red shade. This is significant as not only is it not considered a feminine color, but it is a color associated with bravery and heroism. Disney's decision to place Moana in red, matches with the text provided on the movie poster. The poster itself is mostly three colors: the blue of the sea, Moana's red clothing, and the white text. Focusing on the background of the poster, the blue is significant in itself. Blue is heavily considered to be a male color, which can be seen as early as birth when babies are wrapped either a pink or blue blanket depending on their sex. The blue in the poster also goes back to the oar in Moana's hand. Like mentioned earlier, vigorous water sports are typically ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 74. Propaganda Posters As a way to justify the war many countries used propaganda posters. This helped fund the war as well as recruit new soldiers. I chose the propaganda posters that used women as means to make the men feel guilty, or maybe feel like they were honoring their family. These posters from the Library of Congress show many different perspectives. The posters are from two different years and you could interpret each one differently. It shows how the war changed in two years. In the poster titled '"Women of Britain say–––"Go!"' shows the women watching their men march away. This photo was taken in 1915, which shows how the women felt about war. In the poster called "Gee!! I wish I were a man, I'd join the Navy" shows that the women wanted to be a part of the war. This shows maybe they were tired of being at home and feeling like they weren't contributing. This poster was created in 1917 which was two years after my previous poster and as you can see women have changed how they see war. It was obvious that they used women in couple different ways to guilt or persuade men into entering the war. I will try to compare the differences and similarities in how they show this in the pictures. It ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the poster with the family looking on as the men marched off to war it could have been portrayed to guilt the men into going. If the men didn't want to march off to war it made the women feel that they didn't care about them. Therefore, they would feel less pride and security. Furthermore, in the other poster they guilted the men by saying at the bottom of the poster, "Be a Man and Do It". I am sure this made the men feel they had to because if they didn't they would be considered less of a man. This wasn't just in the public eyes but in the family's eyes as well. The little girl has her hair nicely parted into two pigtail, and is wearing a red dress with white trimming. She is sitting on a rock in front of the two boys with a look of confusion on her face. Her doll is lying like a corpse with its face turned towards the ground, and the little girl's eyes are fixated on the shadow of the swastika slowly inching over the doll's body. The smaller boy is dressed in blue shorts and a red and white striped shirt. He is wearing a hate made out of a newspaper and is holding up a flag that's pole he seems to have put together himself. The expression on his face is frightened, as he looks to the older boy for guidance and safety. The older boy with reddish brown hair is dressed more maturely in a white collared shirt, yellow west and brown pants. He is standing with a hand in front of the younger boy in a defensive and protective manner, and is holding a toy airliner in the other hand. His eyes, focused on something in the sky, are clearly worried. The effectiveness of this poster is much attributable to the artist's tactful choice in color. I originally started out with only wanting to create a wanted poster for Ricky but after doing research I quickly learned that there is much more that must happen before a wanted poster can be created. In this essay, I will describe what my research has taught me about the criminal science is not only the United States but the United Kingdom as well. I will explain how the information I learned influenced the decisions I made throughout the process of creating my project. Before even beginning to make any of the artistic components of this project I did some basic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I did an additional google search to see if I could find a more specific source to help me and I was pleasantly surprised with what I found. This search lead me to another source titled Police Reform and Social Responsibility Bill. This source was only about arrest warrants and went in–depth on what they exactly are. This article was particularly helpful because it focused on the United Kingdom so I was then better able to create this arrest warrant to the degree that it would have been created for Ricky's case. This article goes into detail on when the warrant should be issued and what the prosecutor must do to get the warrant. This journal helps the reader better understand what the Police Reform and Social Responsibility bill means. It says, "The effect of the clause is to require the consent of the Director of Public Prosecutions before an arrest warrant can be issued in private prosecutions for offenses where universal jurisdiction applies." I now understood what must happen before an arrest warrant could be created I now had to figure out what an arrest warrant really looked like. To do this I figured a visual representation would give me a good start. I looked up United Kingdom arrest warrant examples and used that as a loose ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
