Assignment 2 Health And Social Care Research Paper
RUNNING HEAD: Policy Paper Healthcare Lakishia Gates Healthcare Field Placement II Social
Work 7052 Introduction Health policy reflects the decisions, plans, and actions that are implemented
to achieve specific health care goals within a society and community. "An explicit health policy can
achieve several things: it defines a vision for the future which in turn helps to establish targets and
points of reference for the short and medium term" (Boufford, 1990). The purpose of healthcare
policy and procedures is to ensure there is a standard of healthcare available. The purpose of
healthcare policy and procedures is to communicate to employees the desired outcomes of the
organization (Boufford, 1990). Policies are implemented to ensure the employees/ clients
understand the standard procedure for the healthcare that is available. The three main points include

But just as there were problems with HealthCare.gov, some states experienced setbacks of their own
(2017). In April, after undergoing months of technical problems and putting applications on hold
due to processing difficulties, Oregon decided to shut down its troubled Cover Oregon marketplace
and transition to the federal marketplace. In May, Nevada did the same, scrapping its state exchange
to join the federal marketplace for at least one year. Massachusetts is still trying to save its
exchange, but also laying the groundwork to join HealthCare.gov. Some states have seen success,
however. Connecticut's exchange portal has performed remarkably well so well that Maryland wants
to buy it and use it as a model for its own. Kentucky also hit its stride: more than 413,000

Health has a mission to advocate, care, teach, and serve community members. The specific agency I
have chosen to research is Eskenazi Midtown Community Mental Health. There is an emphasis on
vulnerable populations, and financial measures do not disqualify care. Located locally in
Indianapolis, Eskenazi Health Midtown Community Mental Health Center provides comprehensive
inpatient and outpatient services for all types of emotional and behavioral problems, including
severe mental illness and substance abuse. The services are designed to provide the utmost, high–

of Eskenazi Health Midtown Community Mental Health Center is to directly serve the patient
suffering with serious mental illness and chronic addiction, as well as their families.
If an evaluation of this program were to be performed, it would be requested by administration.
Administration in this agency includes, but is not limited to the president and vice president of the
agency, an executive program director and his/her assistant, and a small panel of developmental
board members. Staff members at Eskenazi Health would find the feedback from the evaluation
beneficial, as they can use it to better the care and

A community is an area of group of people who has and share things in common. A community may
be large or a small population. "According to Stanhope and Lancaster (2016) "A community is
defined as a locality–based entity composed of systems of formal organizations reflecting societal
institutions, informal groups, and aggregates that are interdependent and whose function or
expressed intent is to meet a wide variety of collective needs" (p.230). The World Health
Organization (2004) viewed a community as a group of people who lives in a geographical area and
often share characteristic of membership; beliefs, values and norms.

How Denver Health Is The Best Of Its Ability
I have worked for Denver Health for almost 15 years. During that time I have learned that the
mission of the organization is to serve the community to the best of its ability. Employees are
trained to go out of their way to tend to patients' concerns and direct them above and beyond their
expectations. I had not really considered how Denver Health markets its services until I began this
course. Under its old name, "Denver General", the organization was given a reputation of low
quality as a government institution serving the public. However, while analyzing how it deals with
internal and external business activities I have found it is true that the organization is driven toward
the patient, to make their healthcare experience one to be remembered.
The Company and Product For over 150 years, Denver Health has served the people of Colorado.
Committed to serving everyone regardless of the ability to pay, they pride themselves on brining
value and quality to healthcare for all (Denver Health, Who We Are). The market Denver Health is
in is healthcare. A value proposition declares the brand's purpose and promise to consumers
(Armstrong & Kotler, 2015, p. 9). And Denver Health differentiates itself from other healthcare
competitors through its value proposition, "Level One Care for All". Denver Health's marketing
orientation has primarily followed the marketing concept outlined by Armstrong & Kotler (2015), as
they seek to satisfy the need for healthcare in Colorado, and seek

Dr. Breeze And The San Marcos Community Mental Health Center
The Case of Dr. Breeze and the San Marcos Community Mental Health Center started when Dr.
Breeze, a psychoanalyst and a previous director of Manford University's Outreach Mental Health
Services Department was hired to direct the new established San Marcos Community Mental Health
Center. Upon his arrival to the newly established mental health center, Dr. Breeze found many
things invalid. He decided to make changes to improved San Marcos Community Mental Health
Center. For an example, as it stated "They have to build and maintain a staff, design programs,
mediate internal disputes and conflicts, develop decision–making process, produced budgets, attend
to logistical tasks, and maintain their facilities" (Jansson, 2014). After six months of changes, many
of the staffs were divided into different groups and departments to service the different area of needs
in the mental health center. However, due to Dr. Breeze major changes, a few primary staff members
objected to Dr. Breeze changes. They took an offense of not having the ability to voice their ideas
on the new mental health center changes. Therefore, those staff members went forward with action
to make a complaint regarding Dr. Breeze changes.
Admittedly, I identified the five stakeholder groups, their main responsibilities and the reason they
wants Dr. Breeze to be fired, retained, or voted with complete confidence. In which, they are the

A Research Study On Developmental Disability
According to Gail Goldsmith, BSW, who just retired from Northern Lakes Community Mental
Health, NLCMH is authorized by the Michigan Department of Community Health to provide mental
health services and services to those with developmental disabilities.
Developmental disability is generally defined as a chronic condition, with an onset before age 22,
that cause impairment in one or more areas that impact day–to–day functioning such as learning,
communication (expressive and receptive language), mobility, cognitive function (information
processing), self–help, health/physical functioning and independent living. Conditions such as
Down's syndrome, autism, cerebral palsy, and fetal alcohol syndrome are some of the most
prevalent causes of impairment. Often these conditions create a need for lifelong support.
According to the Center For Disease Control, in a study published by the American Academy of
Pediatrics, nearly 1 in 6 children in the United States are identified as having a developmental
disability. (Boyle 2011)
According to Gail the demographics have changed dramatically over the years. The number of
clients with autism has increased dramatically. Programs and services change with administration.
Each new administration has their own interpretation of how exactly mandated programs should be
run and what they are and are not required to provide eligible clients.
Gail has served as a case manager for more than 25 years. Her primary role has been to coordinate

Essay on Health Education Intervention
Health Education Intervention
Multiple approach to community health (MATCH) model, which was introduced by Simons–
Morton, Greene and Gottlieb in the late 1980s, is considered to be very comprehensive and
extensive for practical analysis. The model is not very popular among many scholars thus making it
not much available in many texts. However, the paper is concerned about the reasons that make it
the most preferred method of public health education intervention in the case of substance abuse
(Simons–Morton, Greene & Gottlieb, 1995, p. 49). The MATCH model is applicable to education
on substance abuse since behavioral, environmental risk and the protective factors for disease or

83). In addition, it identifies health behavior by focusing on the prevalence and how changeable the
model is in the training of the population. It further identifies the environmental goals and
regulations that are related to substance abuse (Larsen & Merlo, 2005, p. 83).
The second phase of this model is concerned about intervention planning. To begin with, it is
helpful since it involves the target group that should be involved in the education program at
community level. It helps in the selection of intervention objectives and further identifies the
mediators of the objectives together with using theories to select the interventions. One of the
objectives could be targeting how to stop substance abuse (Simons–Morton, Greene & Gottlieb,
1995, p. 49).
The model also increases the applicability of the program since it is concerned with program
development. This phase looks into creating program units, channels and the objectives of educating
the population on substance abuse. Another importance of this model is the strong association
between learning materials and methods used in the education program. It is also important that the
program creates new materials that are developed after pilot testing of the impact created in the
community after substance abuse education (Simons–Morton, Greene & Gottlieb, 1995, p. 49).
The fourth phase is important since it is concerned about implementation preparation. It is

A Deeper Look Into The Lives Of Slum Dwellers
A Deeper look into the lives of Slum dwellers
– Gitashu Jain
Methodology:
On visiting various underdeveloped sections of our world–class capital city, I got the chance to have
a closer look into the lives of the unwarranted and at times acting as an invisible force – the slum
dwellers. Having migrated from various developing regions of India, one can see the promises of
young– bright India being obliterated into dark–gloomy pieces because of communal politics and
corruption. It gave me deeper insights into the colossal failing of the central, state and municipal
machinery. They have failed in proper execution of laws for the most vulnerable and downtrodden
constituents of the society. On spending time in these un–administered, poverty stricken areas of
Sanjay Camp, Janta Camp, Shakoorpur basti and GB road district, where we with the help of the
Pradhan (Headman of these slums), I got a chance to interact with these people which gave me a
realistic insight to their sufferings and problems, starting from commodification of their labour to
stigmatized work they are forced to perform due their caste and social class. We conducted detailed
interviews of inhabitants of every age, keeping the main focus on pregnant and lactating women
(and their children below the age of 6 years), who clearly are the most vulnerable to maltreatment
due to frustration of the men in failing to provide enough for them & poor execution of policies
formulated by the government, ironically, for the

South Florida Community Health Center Case Analysis

expansion, competitor activity, new technologies and substitutes, and potential competitors (White

Another factor to analyze is the strategic positioning of the organization because it will direct the

The Community Mental Health Centers Act Of 1963 Closed...
Many years ago, mental illness was viewed as a demonic possession or a religious punishment. In
the 18th century, the attitudes towards mental illness were negative and persistent. This negativity
leads to the stigmatization and confinement of those who were mentally ill. The mentally ill were
sent to mental hospitals that were unhealthy and dangerous. A push in the mid 1950s for
deinstitutionalization began because of activists lobbying for change. Dorothea Dix was one of these
activists that helped push for change. The change called for more community oriented care rather
than asylum based care. The Community Mental Health Centers Act of 1963 closed state psychiatric
hospitals throughout the United States. "Only individuals who posed an imminent danger to
themselves or someone else could be committed to state psychiatric hospitals" (A Brief History of
Mental Illness and the U.S. Mental Health Care System). Deinstitutionalization meant to improve
quality of life and treatment for those who are mentally ill. This would hopefully result in the
mentally ill receiving treatment so they could live more independently. The hope was that
community mental health programs would provide this treatment but sadly there was not sufficient
or ongoing funding to meet the growing demand for these programs. Budgets for mental hospitals
were reduced but there was no increase for the community based programs. Many mentally ill
individuals have been moved to nursing homes or other residential

Build Your Redesign Vocabulary Organizations are constantly changing over time to keep up with
internal and external environmental demands. When organizations are in the process of changing, an
organizational redesign is in the works. The purpose of this assignment is to discuss redesign
challenges that Community Health Center of Central Wyoming (CHCCW) faces during its redesign
phase of organizational change. Fundamentals of Organizational Redesign Organizational redesign
is the process in which changing an organization's informal design is due to shifting dynamics in the
organization's environment (Spector, 2013, p. 78). This happens for a variety of reasons, and an
organization should strategically consider both the internal and external environment for causes in
the dynamic shift. Organizational redesign does not just effect policy and process development, but
also the behaviors and norms of the organizational culture. One reason for leaders of an organization
to consider an organizational redesign is financial status of the organization. This is the case for
CHCCW. CHCCW has been in the process of an organizational redesign for lack of financial
sustainability, along with improving the cultural and morale of the organization for the past couple
of years. Organizational Redesign Challenges There are many different redesign challenges that
organizations must comprehend. By being aware of the potential challenges, leaders can develop a
strategic plan to be prepared if

Norwood Health Center was the facility I chose for the community agency visit. Norwood Health
Center is located in Marshfield, Wisconsin at 600 N. Chestnut Ave. I interviewed Elizabeth Masanz,
the nursing director for the facility. Her contact information is (715)384–2188 ext. 3227. Her email

Unique Needs of the Population
Effects of mental illness for many patients can come from a range of social and economic
challenges including poverty, homelessness, lack of access to education and employment, and a lack
of personal and social supports (Goodyear, Hill, Allchin, McCormick, Hine, Cuff, & O'Hanlon,

The Health Belief Model Is Used For Health Promotion And...
The Health Belief Model is commonly used for health promotion and health education. Its'
underlying concept is that health behavior is explained by perception of the disease and the
strategies available to lower its occurrence. There are four perceptions of the HBM, which are
perceived seriousness, perceived benefit, perceived susceptibility and perceived barriers. In addition
to that, more constructs are added to health belief model that includes motivating factor, cues to
action and self–efficacy. Each of these constructs in combination or individually, could be used to
determine health behavior. The HBM also provides guidelines for the program development
allowing planners to address reasons for non–compliance with recommended health action. The
health belief model is a process used to promote healthy behavior among individuals who may be at
risk of developing adverse health outcomes. A person must gauge their perceptions of severity and
susceptibility of developing a disease. Then it is essential to feel vulnerable by these perceptions.
Environmental factors can play a role as well as cues to action such as media, and close friends. In
order to determine that taking action will be meaningful, the benefits to change must be weighed,
against the barriers to change behavior (Green & Murphy, 2014).

Community Health Center Abuse
Community health centers started during the presidency of Lendon Johnson. The centers were
created to provide health care access to people that cannot afford health insurance and for rural areas
that may lack basic health care services. Community health centers are private organizations that are
selected by the government to receive grants and become federally qualified centers and the chosen
centers have to provide various services. The provided services include all sections of primary
health care, dental care, behavioral health, and a diagnostic lab. Nowadays, community health
centers have expanded and there are over 1,200 centers with 9,000 sites nationwide. In order for
these health centers to compete with large privet health systems, they ... Show more content on

The abuse of painkiller medications is one issue that can be controlled through signing a narcotic
contract with the patient, in which the health center will provide the narcotics and has the right to
test the patient, while the patient is prohibited from seek narcotics from other places and illegal
usage of narcotics. Another issue that the center may have to face are no–show appointments, this
may be reduced through double or triple booking for patients. The Fremont community health center
has implemented a no–show program to overcome this issue, which simply gives a patient 2
warnings before suspending health services to the patient at the third no–show incident. Then the
patient is mandated to attend a no–show education class that is conducted every 2 months in the
health center in order for no–show patients to resume back their health services. If the patient no–
showed for 3 more appointments, then they are referred to the chief executive officer of the center to
discuss the matter before resuming back their health services and if the patient no–showed once
after that within a year, then they are suspended for a whole

The Importance Of Planned Parenthood
Planned Parenthood, a nonprofit organization which provides affordable reproductive care, currently
receives government funding. Those in need of affordable health care can go to PPFA for STI
treatment, pap smears, and prevention of unintended pregnancies. The problem arises in PPFA's
prevention of unintended pregnancies, particularly abortion. But abortion is not the only issue the
public finds in the organization. The public has recently questioned PPFA's integrity and motives as
their controversial actions are exposed. Government–funded health care should be easily accessible
for all people, but Planned Parenthood is not the organization for this. Instead, the government
should push its funds towards organizations whose practices are not controversial and still provide
quality health care.
Although Planned Parenthood provides other affordable health care services for men, women, and
children, many people find their service of abortion controversial and seek to defund them
specifically for the discontinuation of this practice. Abortion was legalized under the Roe vs Wade
case in 1973 and soon after, PPFA made it one of their available services so they could provide
maximum reproductive health care for all women. Since its legalization, abortion has taken the lives
of nearly sixty million children. Out of the sixty million, PPFA is responsible for 7.7 million
(Number of Abortions). Defunding the organization would cause 1) an increase in birth rates, 2) an

The following questions were answered in line with the 2013 CLAS Standards.
The Principal Standard: Provide effective, equitable, understandable, and respectful quality care and
services that are responsive to diverse cultural health beliefs and practices, preferred languages,
health literacy, and other communication needs.
Mrs. Mack replied this standard was a broad standard and went on to address each aspect of the
standard in great detail.
The effectiveness of the health care we provide at Salina Family Health Care is measured routinely.
For example, there is a "health care plan" that encompasses 16 different aspects of health care that
we've determined to be important to our patient population. For these 16 "goals" we have 34
specific interventions we've implemented to help us achieve these goals. We receive a monthly
report of our progress toward meeting these goals which might include getting blood pressure
readings below 140/90, catching women up who need a pap smear or encouraging smoking
cessation in persons who smoke. This health care plan drives our practice and the feedback we
receive for our efforts guide our practice daily.
The care we provide at Salina Family Health Care I would consider to be equitable. We provide
services to anyone who is alive, very simply put. We do not discriminate on the basis of gender,
color, nationality, residency status, ability or disability, or whether or not they can pay for

Hrm/531 Week 3 Community Health Center
As you know Community Health Centers serve a vital role in providing primary care, dental,
behavioral, pharmacy, vision and a variety of complementary services to our most vulnerable
patients and communities. Health centers generate millions of dollars both in economic impact and
overall cost–savings to the health care system.
Health centers have continually proven to be a worthwhile investment by delivering high quality,
affordable health care. Evidence based research shows that Community Health Centers prove to be a
lasting solution for disease prevention and health promotion to our medically underserved
population. Additional evidence based research statistics show the following:
64% lower rates of multi–day hospital admission.
Reduced infant disparities; patients have lower rates of low birth rate (U.S. low income low birth
rate percentage 8.2% vs Health Centers 7.5%).

It is a fact that patients who do not have access to primary care tend to delay seeking treatment until
they are seriously ill. These delay results in poor health outcome and higher health care cost. It is
critical that increased funding be allocated for Community Health Centers. Over the long run,
investing in these centers ultimately reduces health care cost, improve patient welfare, outcomes and
reduce budget allotment for healthcare.
I understand that the state faces extraordinarily difficult decisions in attempting to balance the
budget. I ask, however, that you support Community Health Centers by advocating for its funding.
Thank you for your continued support of the vital role Health Centers play in preserving and
expanding access to care in the communities they serve. I ask that as you continue to face difficult

Community Health Center for the Uninsured and Undocumented...
Although the number of illegal immigrants is substantially growing on a daily basis, the national
health care policies seem to fail in addressing their medical needs. This, however, is becoming a
growing challenge because of the conflicts between medical ethics and immigration laws. Despite
the alluded hope for this patients group within the immigration reform, the Patient Protection and
Affordable Care Act (PPACA) fails to alleviate the burden of their unmet health care needs.
Advocates of their rights for health coverage argue that medical ethics and the United States moral
obligations necessitate expanding coverage to all population residing within the borders of the
country. Conversely, opponents deny their health coverage because their illegal status disqualify
them from all public benefits. This paper goes beyond these opposing assumptions and instead,
proposes a strategic plan to raise and combine resources necessary to establish a health care center
for the uninsured, underinsured, and illegal immigrants in Northern California. The paper covers the
establishment of this center with special focus on strategic funding, funding constraints, related state
and national regulations, health policy, resources allocation, and managerial and leadership. Funding

Mental Maps
My life can be divided into two segments. The first part I lived with my family and Mexico City, the
second part started when I moved to Austin in the start of college. The live that I lived in each of the
sections has been different from the activities that I took part in, all the way to what kind of location
those activities occurred. In this paper I will explain the two mental maps that I created. For each
map I will compare and contrast the Landmarks, nodes, edges, paths, and edges in each of the
sections of my life and why they are relevant to me. The first map that I drew is about, the space I
inhabited in the past, which is Mexico City. In this part of my life I resided in a very residential
area– one that in the United States could ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the past I used to be more focused in religion and sports, since I used to think of the synagogue
and JCC as important nodes. Currently the activities I typically partake have become mostly
studying, socializing and drinking, which can be perceived by the nodes I consider important, such
as the SAC and my fraternity. In the case of the landmarks, in both of the mental maps I have
objects that catch my attention in my everyday routes as things I distinguish in the landscape.
Consequently, in both maps my paths are defined on the nodes of my life, which have led to these
objects becoming landmarks for me.
Meanwhile when it comes to considering how I got from point A to point B in each map it is very
different. In Mexico City every single place I traveled meant that I needed to drive or be driven
around since distances are relatively long compared to Austin. This meant that the places that I
considered to be important for me are more scattered around my mental map. For Austin, most of
my activities take part in a smaller region since the mode of transportation I primarily use is
walking, therefore the distances I cover are much shorter than in my past.
In general I can conclude that by comparing and contrasting both mental maps, I can more
accurately understand how I have changed as a person, not only because I live in a very different

offering a wide range of health services such as health education, prevention of diseases, treatment
and other social benefits.

Strategic Planning : Mission And Vision
Strategic planning is a process of developing a set of steps for the organization to use to accomplish
its mission and vision. The plan takes on a broad perspective of the organization and is
accomplished through strategic thinking which draws upon the past, understands the present, and
envisions a better future. The plan requires an analysis of the organizational strengths, weaknesses,
opportunities, and, threats both internal, and external to the organization (Falk, 2015). Nursing

and medically underserved communities. Health centers capacity to give far reaching essential care
and enhance access to superb care while holding down social insurance cost development has been

HIV/AIDS cases with 22.5% versus the state high of 14.8%. For the many community health

Many of these barriers include low income, lack of insurance, not enough providers and no

In November 1970, Central Virginia Health Services opened in rural Buckingham County. The site,
Central Virginia Community Health Center (CVCHC) became the first community health center in
Virginia. It was created to serve the health care needs of residents of the rural counties of
Buckingham, Cumberland, and Fluvanna. After initially operating out of three trailers in each of the
three counties, practice operations were consolidated into the Gold Hill community of Buckingham
County. In 1970, health center funding supported only medical services so that was the only service
offered. CVCHC providers soon realized that patients' needed other services, especially

The Shenandoah Community Health Center (SCHC) located in Martinsburg, WV, began
implementing the Electronic Health Records in 2005. One of the goals they had for implementing
this system, was to combine separate medical records that were assigned to the same patients ("A
West Virginia Health Center Discusses Implementing Electronic Health Records", 2012)
The health center made sure the EHR was easy to implement and wanted it to emphasize quality
measurement while creating business workflow to ensure quality input standards. After the
implementation, the SCHC staff attended a mandatory 3–week training, organized & taught by the
hospital staff. The training was job specific, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The SCHC utilized the members of their own staff who work directly in the area to train other
members; the book refers to these as super–users. The SCHC believed it was important for training
to be conducted by someone who was "speaking their own language" to increase the users comfort
and knowledge while using the system. The textbook recommends giving an ample amount of time
to practice. In this case the health center provided 3 weeks of job–specific training by in house staff
("A West Virginia Health Center", 2012). The SCHC addressed meaningful use by recording patient
demographics, maintaining an active medication lists and incorporating clinical lab test results into
the HER, as apart of their meaningful use objectives. For recording patient demographics, they
maintained data for accurate billing and ensured that the practice workflow was adjusted to capture
all of the necessary patient data. They addressed active medication lists by following the
requirements for e–prescribing. Patients were able to review their active medication list during their
visit. Changes to the medication list were reviewed with the nurse and adjusted within the EHR

Narrative Essay About Being Jewish
Insert Title Sometimes I wonder what it's like not to know. Not to know that you have something in
common with only 15 million other people around the globe. Not to know that no matter what you
do, you're different. Not to know that people want to kill you for what you believe. Well, now I
know what it's like. What it's like to be Jewish. My story begins a day before it happened. In
hindsight, I remember that day vividly. The baby blue sky was filled with rolling mountains of
white. Birds chirped and butterflies flapped their wings. However, off in the distance, the white
turned to grayish–black and the sky, rather than the serene feeling around Temple B'nai Jehudah,
was eerie. In hindsight, this was an omen of things to come. But at the moment, I wasn't worried
about any of that. I was just worried about getting to my youth group on time. "Ben! Hurry up!" My
agitated mother called to me as I hurried to unfasten my seatbelt and gather my crumpled,
haphazard Hebrew folder. I stumbled out of the car and hurried into the temple's open glass doors.
My class was about to begin, and the other fifth graders looked at me quizzically as I hurried in.
After that, everything was normal. That ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

sort of way. This summer I worked as a summer camp counselor at my synagogue. One day, much
like that chilly Saturday youth group, we got pulled aside and told the synagogue was on lockdown.
We had to continue as normal and not act scared; it wasn't just for our sake, but the kids as well. I
didn't feel an ounce of fear, not then, not after when I learned there was a shooter targeting our
synagogue and when he was apprehended, he wasn't fifteen minutes away from us. They say
hindsight is twenty–twenty. I look back and see where I was coming from. But I know the dangers
are real. And knowing that makes me

  • 1. Assignment 2 Health And Social Care Research Paper RUNNING HEAD: Policy Paper Healthcare Lakishia Gates Healthcare Field Placement II Social Work 7052 Introduction Health policy reflects the decisions, plans, and actions that are implemented to achieve specific health care goals within a society and community. "An explicit health policy can achieve several things: it defines a vision for the future which in turn helps to establish targets and points of reference for the short and medium term" (Boufford, 1990). The purpose of healthcare policy and procedures is to ensure there is a standard of healthcare available. The purpose of healthcare policy and procedures is to communicate to employees the desired outcomes of the organization (Boufford, 1990). Policies are implemented to ensure the employees/ clients understand the standard procedure for the healthcare that is available. The three main points include 1) should states and government make decisions in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... But just as there were problems with HealthCare.gov, some states experienced setbacks of their own (2017). In April, after undergoing months of technical problems and putting applications on hold due to processing difficulties, Oregon decided to shut down its troubled Cover Oregon marketplace and transition to the federal marketplace. In May, Nevada did the same, scrapping its state exchange to join the federal marketplace for at least one year. Massachusetts is still trying to save its exchange, but also laying the groundwork to join HealthCare.gov. Some states have seen success, however. Connecticut's exchange portal has performed remarkably well so well that Maryland wants to buy it and use it as a model for its own. Kentucky also hit its stride: more than 413,000 Kentuckians (or one in 10) signed up for coverage through the state's kynect ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. How Denver Health Is The Best Of Its Ability I have worked for Denver Health for almost 15 years. During that time I have learned that the mission of the organization is to serve the community to the best of its ability. Employees are trained to go out of their way to tend to patients' concerns and direct them above and beyond their expectations. I had not really considered how Denver Health markets its services until I began this course. Under its old name, "Denver General", the organization was given a reputation of low quality as a government institution serving the public. However, while analyzing how it deals with internal and external business activities I have found it is true that the organization is driven toward the patient, to make their healthcare experience one to be remembered. The Company and Product For over 150 years, Denver Health has served the people of Colorado. Committed to serving everyone regardless of the ability to pay, they pride themselves on brining value and quality to healthcare for all (Denver Health, Who We Are). The market Denver Health is in is healthcare. A value proposition declares the brand's purpose and promise to consumers (Armstrong & Kotler, 2015, p. 9). And Denver Health differentiates itself from other healthcare competitors through its value proposition, "Level One Care for All". Denver Health's marketing orientation has primarily followed the marketing concept outlined by Armstrong & Kotler (2015), as they seek to satisfy the need for healthcare in Colorado, and seek ... Dr. Breeze And The San Marcos Community Mental Health Center The Case of Dr. Breeze and the San Marcos Community Mental Health Center started when Dr. Breeze, a psychoanalyst and a previous director of Manford University's Outreach Mental Health Services Department was hired to direct the new established San Marcos Community Mental Health Center. Upon his arrival to the newly established mental health center, Dr. Breeze found many things invalid. He decided to make changes to improved San Marcos Community Mental Health Center. For an example, as it stated "They have to build and maintain a staff, design programs, mediate internal disputes and conflicts, develop decision–making process, produced budgets, attend to logistical tasks, and maintain their facilities" (Jansson, 2014). After six months of changes, many of the staffs were divided into different groups and departments to service the different area of needs in the mental health center. However, due to Dr. Breeze major changes, a few primary staff members objected to Dr. Breeze changes. They took an offense of not having the ability to voice their ideas on the new mental health center changes. Therefore, those staff members went forward with action to make a complaint regarding Dr. Breeze changes. Admittedly, I identified the five stakeholder groups, their main responsibilities and the reason they wants Dr. Breeze to be fired, retained, or voted with complete confidence. • 12. Essay on Health Education Intervention Health Education Intervention Multiple approach to community health (MATCH) model, which was introduced by Simons– Morton, Greene and Gottlieb in the late 1980s, is considered to be very comprehensive and extensive for practical analysis. The model is not very popular among many scholars thus making it not much available in many texts. However, the paper is concerned about the reasons that make it the most preferred method of public health education intervention in the case of substance abuse (Simons–Morton, Greene & Gottlieb, 1995, p. 49). The MATCH model is applicable to education on substance abuse since behavioral, environmental risk and the protective factors for disease or injury are known and the general priorities of the ... It further identifies the environmental goals and regulations that are related to substance abuse (Larsen & Merlo, 2005, p. 83). The second phase of this model is concerned about intervention planning. To begin with, it is helpful since it involves the target group that should be involved in the education program at community level. It helps in the selection of intervention objectives and further identifies the mediators of the objectives together with using theories to select the interventions. One of the objectives could be targeting how to stop substance abuse (Simons–Morton, Greene & Gottlieb, 1995, p. 49). The model also increases the applicability of the program since it is concerned with program development. This phase looks into creating program units, channels and the objectives of educating the population on substance abuse. Another importance of this model is the strong association between learning materials and methods used in the education program. It is also important that the program creates new materials that are developed after pilot testing of the impact created in the community after substance abuse education (Simons–Morton, Greene & Gottlieb, 1995, p. 49). The fourth phase is important since it is concerned about implementation preparation. It is concerned with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. A Deeper Look Into The Lives Of Slum Dwellers A Deeper look into the lives of Slum dwellers – Gitashu Jain Methodology: On visiting various underdeveloped sections of our world–class capital city, I got the chance to have a closer look into the lives of the unwarranted and at times acting as an invisible force – the slum dwellers. Having migrated from various developing regions of India, one can see the promises of young– bright India being obliterated into dark–gloomy pieces because of communal politics and corruption. It gave me deeper insights into the colossal failing of the central, state and municipal machinery. They have failed in proper execution of laws for the most vulnerable and downtrodden constituents of the society. On spending time in these un–administered, poverty stricken areas of Sanjay Camp, Janta Camp, Shakoorpur basti and GB road district, where we with the help of the Pradhan (Headman of these slums), I got a chance to interact with these people which gave me a realistic insight to their sufferings and problems, starting from commodification of their labour to stigmatized work they are forced to perform due their caste and social class. We conducted detailed interviews of inhabitants of every age, keeping the main focus on pregnant and lactating women (and their children below the age of 6 years), who clearly are the most vulnerable to maltreatment due to frustration of the men in failing to provide enough for them & poor execution of policies formulated by the government, ironically, for the ... • 17. The Community Mental Health Centers Act Of 1963 Closed... Many years ago, mental illness was viewed as a demonic possession or a religious punishment. In the 18th century, the attitudes towards mental illness were negative and persistent. This negativity leads to the stigmatization and confinement of those who were mentally ill. The mentally ill were sent to mental hospitals that were unhealthy and dangerous. A push in the mid 1950s for deinstitutionalization began because of activists lobbying for change. Dorothea Dix was one of these activists that helped push for change. The change called for more community oriented care rather than asylum based care. The Community Mental Health Centers Act of 1963 closed state psychiatric hospitals throughout the United States. "Only individuals who posed an imminent danger to themselves or someone else could be committed to state psychiatric hospitals" (A Brief History of Mental Illness and the U.S. Mental Health Care System). Deinstitutionalization meant to improve quality of life and treatment for those who are mentally ill. This would hopefully result in the mentally ill receiving treatment so they could live more independently. The hope was that community mental health programs would provide this treatment but sadly there was not sufficient or ongoing funding to meet the growing demand for these programs. Budgets for mental hospitals were reduced but there was no increase for the community based programs. Many mentally ill individuals have been moved to nursing homes or other residential ... This happens for a variety of reasons, and an organization should strategically consider both the internal and external environment for causes in the dynamic shift. Organizational redesign does not just effect policy and process development, but also the behaviors and norms of the organizational culture. One reason for leaders of an organization to consider an organizational redesign is financial status of the organization. This is the case for CHCCW. CHCCW has been in the process of an organizational redesign for lack of financial sustainability, along with improving the cultural and morale of the organization for the past couple of years. Organizational Redesign Challenges There are many different redesign challenges that organizations must comprehend. By being aware of the potential challenges, leaders can develop a strategic plan to be prepared if ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

After this week I will have completed one month at my internship and the knowledge and experience I've been able to gain has helped me develop tremendously, both professionally and personally. Among the various things that I've been able to do at the clinic include, assisting in the implementation of the new patient portal (NEXTGEN), work on creating various projects with the IT department (e.g., helping prepare for the implementation of ICD–10), taking a lead in the planning of the clinic's summer health festival, shadowing various physician, and assisting the prenatal department with numerous administrative tasks. Indeed, I have had a lot on my plate this past few weeks, but the exposure and information I've been able learn about the current status of community health centers in urban areas has been substantial and crucial in my development. With these new found knowledge about the different careers possible within the health care industry and the duties and responsibilities that accompany them, I have been able to expand on my options upon graduation and simultaneously narrow them down to those that I find most intriguing. Among the various occupations that intrigue me the most are those that encompass multiple roles and have greater potential influence on the institution. Norwood Health Center is located in Marshfield, Wisconsin at 600 N. Chestnut Ave. I interviewed Elizabeth Masanz, the nursing director for the facility. Her contact information is (715)384–2188 ext. 3227. Her email address is Emasanz@co.wood.wi.us. Norwood Health Center focuses on individualized impatient and outpatient treatment. Residential services are provided for mentally ill, developmentally disabled, and people in crisis. Two nursing homes are also located in Norwood Health Center to care for dementia individuals. The vulnerable population that I focused on at Norwood Health Center was the mentally ill. I decided to focus on this population because mental health has always intrigued my interest. I also wanted to gain knowledge about the healthcare careers available in this demographic. Unique Needs of the Population Effects of mental illness for many patients can come from a range of social and economic challenges including poverty, homelessness, lack of access to education and employment, and a lack of personal and social supports (Goodyear, Hill, Allchin, McCormick, Hine, Cuff, & O'Hanlon, 2015). • 22. The Health Belief Model Is Used For Health Promotion And... The Health Belief Model is commonly used for health promotion and health education. Its' underlying concept is that health behavior is explained by perception of the disease and the strategies available to lower its occurrence. There are four perceptions of the HBM, which are perceived seriousness, perceived benefit, perceived susceptibility and perceived barriers. In addition to that, more constructs are added to health belief model that includes motivating factor, cues to action and self–efficacy. Each of these constructs in combination or individually, could be used to determine health behavior. The HBM also provides guidelines for the program development allowing planners to address reasons for non–compliance with recommended health action. The health belief model is a process used to promote healthy behavior among individuals who may be at risk of developing adverse health outcomes. A person must gauge their perceptions of severity and susceptibility of developing a disease. Then it is essential to feel vulnerable by these perceptions. Environmental factors can play a role as well as cues to action such as media, and close friends. In order to determine that taking action will be meaningful, the benefits to change must be weighed, against the barriers to change behavior (Green & Murphy, 2014). • 25. The Importance Of Planned Parenthood Planned Parenthood, a nonprofit organization which provides affordable reproductive care, currently receives government funding. Those in need of affordable health care can go to PPFA for STI treatment, pap smears, and prevention of unintended pregnancies. The problem arises in PPFA's prevention of unintended pregnancies, particularly abortion. But abortion is not the only issue the public finds in the organization. The public has recently questioned PPFA's integrity and motives as their controversial actions are exposed. Government–funded health care should be easily accessible for all people, but Planned Parenthood is not the organization for this. Instead, the government should push its funds towards organizations whose practices are not controversial and still provide quality health care. Although Planned Parenthood provides other affordable health care services for men, women, and children, many people find their service of abortion controversial and seek to defund them specifically for the discontinuation of this practice. Abortion was legalized under the Roe vs Wade case in 1973 and soon after, PPFA made it one of their available services so they could provide maximum reproductive health care for all women. Since its legalization, abortion has taken the lives of nearly sixty million children. Out of the sixty million, PPFA is responsible for 7.7 million (Number of Abortions). Mrs. Mack replied this standard was a broad standard and went on to address each aspect of the standard in great detail. The effectiveness of the health care we provide at Salina Family Health Care is measured routinely. For example, there is a "health care plan" that encompasses 16 different aspects of health care that we've determined to be important to our patient population. • 29. Community Health Center for the Uninsured and Undocumented... Although the number of illegal immigrants is substantially growing on a daily basis, the national health care policies seem to fail in addressing their medical needs. This, however, is becoming a growing challenge because of the conflicts between medical ethics and immigration laws. Despite the alluded hope for this patients group within the immigration reform, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) fails to alleviate the burden of their unmet health care needs. Advocates of their rights for health coverage argue that medical ethics and the United States moral obligations necessitate expanding coverage to all population residing within the borders of the country. Conversely, opponents deny their health coverage because their illegal status disqualify them from all public benefits. This paper goes beyond these opposing assumptions and instead, proposes a strategic plan to raise and combine resources necessary to establish a health care center for the uninsured, underinsured, and illegal immigrants in Northern California. The paper covers the establishment of this center with special focus on strategic funding, funding constraints, related state and national regulations, health policy, resources allocation, and managerial and leadership. The live that I lived in each of the sections has been different from the activities that I took part in, all the way to what kind of location those activities occurred. In this paper I will explain the two mental maps that I created. For each map I will compare and contrast the Landmarks, nodes, edges, paths, and edges in each of the sections of my life and why they are relevant to me. In the case of the landmarks, in both of the mental maps I have objects that catch my attention in my everyday routes as things I distinguish in the landscape. Consequently, in both maps my paths are defined on the nodes of my life, which have led to these objects becoming landmarks for me. Meanwhile when it comes to considering how I got from point A to point B in each map it is very different. In Mexico City every single place I traveled meant that I needed to drive or be driven around since distances are relatively long compared to Austin. This meant that the places that I considered to be important for me are more scattered around my mental map. For Austin, most of my activities take part in a smaller region since the mode of transportation I primarily use is walking, therefore the distances I cover are much shorter than in my past.
