In Spain Basic education is compulsory and
free for everyone. It is made up of:
• Primary education
• Compulsory secondary education
• Between the ages of 6 and 16
• However the students have the
right to continue their basic
education until the year they turn 18

21. OUR SCHOOL
The main features of our school
We have approximately 400 students aged
12 up to 18 years old.
We offer three different levels of education:
• Compulsory Secondary Education
• Advanced Level (A-Level) Education
• Introductory Vocational Education

Compulsory Secondary Education
It covers four school years, from 12 to 16
years of age, and must be completed after
finishing primary education.
Students that meet all the standards set for
this stage of education are awarded a
certificate: Graduate in Secondary education,
wich provides them acces to further
education.
23. OUR SCHOOL
Initial Vocational Qualification
Programmes
They are organised for students who don’t
achieve the objectives of compulsory
secondary education.
Its aim is to provide all students with
professional skills equivalent to level one of
the National Catalogue of Vocational
Qualifications.
24. OUR SCHOOL
A-Level education is divided
into three curriculum strands
Humanities and social sciences
Arts
Science and technology
25. OUR SCHOOL
The A-Level lasts two academic
years from age 16 -18
At the end of this stage, students
who receive a pass mark in all the
subjects in any of the strands
receive a A- Level Diploma.
26. OUR SCHOOL
The A-Level Diploma enables
students to access higher education
Apart from this qualification,
those students who want to gain
access to University Education must
pass an entrance examination.
