My record label
1. My Record Label
Amy Forsyth
After a long think I have decided that the best name for my record label is
'Orbit' this is because the word orbit symbolizes the Earth orbiting the Sun or
the Moon orbiting the Earth, showing the circle of life. This can mean that its
a worldwide record label that can work with any genre of music. The word
'Orbit' can also foreshadow a record player.
2. The first idea I had was to follow the basics of a normal R&B labels which is to stick
with black and white colour theme as the genre I am focusing on is R&B.
Using circles around the logo can indicate it being a vinyl CD or the two circles can
show the paths that the earth and the moon need to take, linking into orbits.
One main negative point about this logo is because it is so similar to normal labels it
wont stand out as much as it should because other logos would look a lot better.
The second idea for my record label is too use a vinyl CD and put the word Orbit
onto it. This originally idea is from Jive records logo this is a bad idea as it means
that it could confuse people if its too similar to another.
I wanted to make sure that the logo could still have a link to orbit, I did this by
putting the word orbit at a slight curve this can indicate that its going around. I
used blue as it can be something associated with nature like water on the earth.
3. The third label has the same colour theme as the first record label that I created, whereas I
have changed the font and the style.
The font that I used within this logo looked more like a R&B style compared to ones that I
had used before also I used two different fonts that were very similar which I think makes
it look better. Using a rectangle finish I think makes it looks more professional and R&B
style.
This logo is very modern looking and can also fit into all types of music but out of
everything I think it would fit into the rock genre which wont be good for a R&B genre.
As my final decision I think I will choose the last one as compared to the others I think it fits
more into the R&B genre and looks more professional as in my opinion the others look
childish and that’s not how orbit records should be seen as.
