2. First Idea
My first idea was to draw out a piece of cover art to either
include in the CD or on the band website.
My inspiration came mainly from the light-hearted space, fantasy
theme we paint our bandās image with. However, seen as we are
creating an album and not a single, other arguably random
images outside of this theme and our music video, such as the
shark, were placed in order to suggest what occurs in the other
songs in the album (that we donāt make a music video of). For
example, in this we see an interpretation of the traffic light
character in our āOne Little Slipā music video. Furthermore,
these images help to fill the page and make it look interesting an
appealing when crossing the eye of a customer.
Finally, I decided it would be best to outline my drawings in a
sharpie to make them stand out and keep then colourless to
evoke a natural, artistic feel.
3. Second Idea
Advancing on my first piece of cover art, I decided to make
another that I feel suites the space theme of our band better.
Instead of adding the more random elements of the last
piece; like the shark and dinosaur attacking a city, I focused
on an alien and space look.
Again I outlined the drawings in a sharpie to make them stand
out to the person viewing the CD but this time filled the full
A3 sheet. Personally, I prefer this one to the first as I feel it
just looks better overall. Although, we can still find use for
the first idea on our website.
The Best One
4. CD Booklet
After discussing with Dan, we feel that the second idea is the best to image to
use.
However, this image will be used in our CD booklet, rather than on the album.
This is because we wish for the cover to have a consistent look, but still want to
use the image as it keeps to our bandās look. Therefore, the back cover, we
believe, will look better with a similar design to the front as it will keep this
consistency that other pop/rock bands do.
Hereās an example of the āMcBusted albumā
Front Cover Back Cover
As you can see, the albumās
front and back cover are
similar in there use of
imagery as we see the same
background (the fence) and
the a similar foreground (the
band.
5. Third Idea
This one we are still on the fence with, mainly because we are not sure if it fits
well.
Whilst we were creating our website, I had the idea of creating images of me and
Dan in Lego, rather than in real life. This is because using Lego will make it
easier for us to create anything we want to, such as space. Not only that, but it
may stand out against the websites of other who have used real life pictures of
themselves.
Here are some examples:
As you can see, the space element is present
although arguably dull as this was last minute.
