company.

vacant in your office. I offer my services for the same.
•I came to know from some reliable sources that you wish to appoint a

3. Main text-
• Aims at convincing reader that you are the best
candidate.
• try to express how your skills can benefit the company.
• give specific details of your achievements.
e.g. I was awarded the fellowship from the University as I
could maintain high percentage in my graduate degree.

4. Conclusion-
Aims at asking the reader for a specific action such as chance
for an interview.

7. Resume
• It is a first introduction to prospective
employer.
• It is a document that summarizes the skills,
qualifications, experiences of a candidate for a
job position.

8. Features of an impressive resume-
• It should be well planned in advance as per the needs of
the prospective employer.
• It should be brief but contain all the necessary details.
• Use of short and simple sentences.
• Avoid use of jargons.
• Should be neatly typed.
• Any personal information not related to job should not be
included.

10. Chronological Resume-
• Best to use for showing career growth.
• Work experience is listed in reverse chronological order(recent to first)
• For each job, indicate the period of time during which you were
employed.
• The name of your employer and then the employer's location should
follow this.
• Below that give a description of each job.
• Follow your work history with a section on education that lists each
degree, certificate, etc. you have earned.

12. Functional Resume-
• Good format to use if you are changing careers.
• Resume categorizes job skills by function, emphasizing
abilities.
• Follow name, contact information and objective with a
section for each of the functions or abilities you want to
highlight.
• Related work experience goes beneath each section heading.
• For brevity's sake, try to keep to a maximum of three of four
functions.

14. Combination Resume-
•It is a hybrid of a functional resume and a chronological one.
• Useful format if you are changing careers but have a solid, though
seemingly unrelated, employment history. You can also use the
combination format if your work history includes only one place of
employment, but you spent a significant amount of time there and
your job duties were very diverse. It lets you stress the various skills
you attained through that job.
