• A resume is a marketing piece that presents you in the best possible light.
• It's not an application.
• Your resume is one of the first impression with a potential employer.
• Purpose is to persuade that you have abilities ,skills, and qualities that the employer is looking for.

RESUME PREPARATION :-
In the process of getting a job, resume plays a vital role. A good resume can get us short-listed and bad one can lead to
rejection of our claim to a position. Therefore, preparing a resume is an important skills that we need to develop at an early
stage. Preparing a good resume requires creativity, ingenuity, and consistent efforts in keeping it updated , comprehensive,
and effective .

6. RESUME OBJECTIVE
• There are 2 types of resumes
• Generic
• Specific
• In generic we use a single resume in multiple jobs.
• Where as specific one is designed according to the specific job we are
applying for, here we filter our experiences and skills according to the
position we are applying for, after going through the job description.
7. TYPES OF RESUME
There are various types of resume that you can prepare while applying for
a job. However the selection of the type will be determine by the kind of
job profile the company offers and the kind of skills and work experience
you have.
• CHRONOLOGICAL a chronological resume gives your work history
in the chronological order, that is, in the sequence of occurrence.
• FUNCTIONAL This type of resume mainly focus on your skills and
experience. If you keep changing your career quite often and there are
gaps in your employment history, it is advisable to prepare this type of
resume.

• HYBRID/COMBINATION Mostly this type of resume is prepared. In this type, you list your skills and
experience history first and work employment history next. While drafting your resume. You need to be
strategic since you can highlight the skills that are relevant for a particular job profile
9. CHRONONLOGICAL- FUNCTIONAL-HYBRID
Chronological
• Best for standard
position, like manager.
• Job position says their
ideal candidates is
experience in the field.
• Preferred by hiring
managers and
recruiters.
Hybrid
• If the job requires strong
experience. But that isn’t one
of your strength. You can
add functional elements to
your chronological
experience.
• Emphasise relevant
achievement in a “selected
achievement” section before
“work experience”
Functional
• Best for uncommon or entry
level positions.
• Job positing emphasise the
need for unique skills.
• Company culture leans towards
innovation and looking to
change its culture.
• Great if you are changing
career, entry level or have a
resume gap.
12. CHANNEL OF RESUME USED
Paper copy / Traditional print resume : while drafting keep these points in mind.
• Keep the resume short as recruiter do not have to go through the bulky one.
• Take care of the font size and adequate margins.
• Use one type of heading.
Electronic / scannable : an electronic resume is called a scannable resume. It is a plain text or HTML (hyper
text mark up language) document. It is submitted along with the job application.
Tips for scannable/electronic resumes :-
• Use standard font which have a distinct letter.
• Use tools to draw attention such as boldface, capitalisation, etc.
• Make it computer friendly.
• Do not use underline any fancy scripts.
• Do use too much graphics.
13. Non-traditional resumes : due to scarcity of time, organisation sometimes requires non-
traditional resumes. The purpose is to go through the profile of the candidate quickly to
ascertain his/her suitability for the available position.
• Video Resume : candidate has to speak in front of camera, highlights his/her
qualifications, abilities, skills and accomplishments.
