Visibility And Consistency Of Social Media
Visibility and Consistency
I was facilitating a social media workshop for a writers group in Richmond, Virginia called Agile
Writers and a gentleman raised his hand. He was working on writing a book however his book
wasn't out yet. He said to me, "My book is not out and I don't have anything to sell, so I'm not on
Facebook or social media yet. I'm waiting until my book comes out. Is that wrong?" I answered his
question with my favorite quote by H. Jackson Brown, "Opportunity only dances with those already
on the dance floor." You see, you must already be on the dance floor ladies and gentlemen.
Opportunity is not going to come pull you off the sideline, you have to already be there. You can do
this by being visible and consistent on Social ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
You want to hang out there first and establish presence on Facebook, but the tips and strategies I will
share really apply to any of the social media sites that you're hanging out on. Number one, branding
is largely about visibility and consistency. How visible are you and how consistent are you when we
see you? You want to show up on a consistent basis on all of the social media sites that you have
elected to play in the sandbox on, okay? You can't just post one thing and then disappear for two
weeks and you don't post anything else about your business, your product or your service and then
say this ain't working. No, ladies and gentlemen, you have to put some consistency in to posting on
social media. When we say consistency, let me take Facebook for an example. If you're in promotion
mode, and there's something that you want to get attention on or you want to attract clients or
supporters, you really need to be posting one to five times a day. That's right, one to five times a day
is what you need to be doing on Facebook to help you have that consistency. It also plays a role into
the visibility. You want to be posting at different times during the day. Why? Because those that are
friends & followers of yours and those that have clicked like on your business page, hang out on
Facebook at different time, so you

Analysis Of The East Los Angeles College Transfer Center
The department that I reviewed using the Council for the Advancement of Standards (CAS) was the
East Los Angeles College (ELAC) Transfer Center. I am currently doing my graduate assistantship
at the ELAC Transfer Center. Therefore, I thought it would be a more meaningful experience to
choose this department to review using the CAS standards because it offers the opportunity to learn
more about the department and probably provide my supervisor suggestions that can help improve
the department to be more effective in serving students. I interviewed two individuals in the
department in order to get some insight on how well of a job the department is dong in adhering to
the CAS standards. The first person I interviewed was the Transfer Center ... Show more content on

I would recommend that the ELAC Transfer Center mission be disseminated throughout the office
space to reinforce the message of their mission statement every time one of the employees views it.
Program
The primary elements of the department are academic advising, transfer application assistance,
transfer assistance, academic counseling. As a strength, the program is intentional in providing
students with reliable information to transfer, since the information is always changing. Also, the
department is strong in implementing services such as conferences, workshops, summer programs,
and campus tours that with assist students in the transfer process. Another strength of the department
is a consistent collaboration with other programs within the institution to benefit the students such as
collaboration with programs like Puente and EOP&S in which these programs bring their student to
the Transfer Center to attend Transfer 101 workshops. An area in which the department was
inconsistent with the CAS standards was in not having established student learning outcomes. In
addition, the department was also inconsistent in their program design not using multiple formats to
deliver the information, for example lacking a video presence, not doing enough to engage with
parents, therefore being unconsidered of their student population.
Organization and Leadership The leadership practices of the department are consistent with the CAS
standards in that its practices

Bible: The Preference For Consistency Scale
Alexander, you may find it interesting to know that on the Preference for Consistency Scale, I rated
my preference for consistency with all "9s" and my preference for consistency from others with all
"8s". This prompted me to think about the summation of my scores and the impact consistency has
on others. Perhaps the following Bible verse can help explain the rationality behind why religious
involvement provides a framework for moral maturity, consistency, and integrity. The Word of God
is very specific about how we as Christians are to conduct ourselves.
Ephesians 5:15–17 says, "Be very careful, then, how you live –– not as unwise but as wise, making
the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. Therefore, do not be foolish, but

Cisco Case Study Essay
CASE QUESTIONS – CISCO 1a. How did Cisco find itself in trouble with regard to its intended
IT prior to Brad Boston's arrival? Prior to his arrival, CISCO had a decentralized approach to IT
spending. Independent business groups were making decisions in fuctional silos. Each group their
own funds for IT, therefore, redundant applications such as CRM systems were created. This was a
global issue as well as a localized issue. The Cisco philosophy regarding IT was simple: As long as
someone was willing to pay for it, the IT department would work on whatever process/project
specified. This is not only a waste of money, but it also creates problems when trying to work across
teams. If two teams use two different processes to come ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 1993, when Peter Solvik took over as CIO of Cisco, he reallocated the IT budget to each
individual department. He also took the power away from an IT steering committee and gave it to
departments. This gave each department the ability to function independent of each other. There was
no need for them to communicate with other departments in order to achieve similar objectives and
goals. 2a. What is BPOC's role? The BPOC's role is to get together biweekly to review and prioritize
key initiatives that impact the company as a whole. BPOC would categorize each initiative and then
make recommendations for the different projects. b. How much formal authority does it have?
While they demonstrated no "formal" authority; the recommendations carried a great deal of weight.
These are senior executives and they do have a vast knowledge of what is needed for the company

any initiatives, it merely has strong influence and promotes its recommendations. 3a. Would you

Analysis Of ' The Sun, Line, And Cave '
Victoria McAlister
Professor Talcott
Ancient Philosophy

Consistency in the Sun, Line, and Cave Plato's theory of the Forms showcases that acquiring
knowledge involves turning away from the world of senses and moving towards the Forms/world of
intellect. Within Plato's Republic there are three analogies: the sun, line, and cave, which are
intended to clarify how things experienced in the sensible world are less real than the Forms. All
three analogies are consistent through their descriptions of the differences between the intelligible
and sensible worlds. The usage of all three also enables Plato to guide readers through the
knowledge process, starting with a simple description of the sun and ending with a full example of
how man can reach that sun. Plato starts with the analogy of the sun, which points out the contrast
between the visible and the intelligible worlds. Within the visible world man has eyes and objects to
be seen, but man needs another object for the eyes to see the object. This object is the sun, which
provides the light that is required by the eye to view the visible world. In correspondence, the Form
of the Good in the intelligible world is equal to the sun by the way that the Good allows the forms to
be known. Plato specifically states, "What gives truth to the things known and the power to know to
the knower is the Form of the Good. And though it is the cause of knowledge and truth, it is also an
object of knowledge" (508e). Along with

Personal Statement : House Hunter International
It really doesn't matter if you are a TELevangelist, a large network, like HGTV or a person of
business, you should have a consistent marketing message for your business.
Have you ever sat down and watch HGTV's shows? From their network to their individual shows,
they have a consistent message. That message comes across in my current favorites, House Hunter

how your clients and potentials connect with you, then it is easier to draw your clients in. Beware of
sending mix signals as to what your expertise is.
Online I have struggled with keeping my website blog focused on what I do. Choosing those topics
that directly deal with the problems I fix and topics on the resolutions I garner for my clients. Many
other topics indirectly affect my main goal for my clients which is business growth. I quickly
determine if my topic ideas, fits in with my theme, before I write, much less post.
Clarify your message – develop a simple, easy to repeat message that tells the story, that you wish to
deliver to your potentials. It should quickly describe the pain you fix; then reinforce the positive
results for your clients.

Why Do Companies Have Consistency?
There are many benefits of having consistency throughout any organisation, whether it is in the
workplace or in customer interactions. Meeting demands consistently requires the attention of top
leadership and it is becoming an increasingly important factor in various industries (Pulido, Stone
and Strevel, 2014). This brief will highlight the advantages of having consistency throughout
'Prestige Worldwide' and how we can adopt it.
Consistency is the key to making customers happy, which is the aim of this organisation. In order to
provide maximum customer satisfaction, the customers must have a consistent 'customer journey',
i.e. the cumulative experience of interactions that a customer has with a company (Pulido et al,
2014). Research ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
2. Emotional consistency:
Customer satisfaction and loyalty are heavily influenced by emotions encompassed in a feeling of
trust (Beard, 2014), meaning that consistency is important to forge a relationship of trust with
customers, which is important for long term growth. We must strive to be a company that customers
comfortable with and trust.
3. Communication consistency:
It is important to make and meet promises, and equally important to highlight the delivery of these
promises. Our marketing communications should focus on the delivery of promises, because that
will influence customer perception and enable us to generate a reservoir of goodwill and first–rate
reputation. Slogans are commonly based on customer satisfaction, with an example being
"Satisfaction guaranteed" by Wal–Mart, and Prestige Worldwide should follow this process (Henard,
Szymanski, 2001).
Concluding the consistency for Prestige Worldwide, it is recommended that we implement it into
our business. A suitable plan of action would be to adopt a journey–based approach with customer
interactions by making their transitions between departments more seamless while tracking
progress, fix areas where negative experiences are common due to them having 4–5 times more
impact than a positive experience, and to do it now (Morris, 2014; Pulido et al, 2014). In order to
build intense customer loyalty and reap its benefits, we must be consistent; otherwise our

Reliability Is Defined, Within Psychometric Testing
Reliability is defined, within psychometric testing, as the stability of a research study or measure(s).
Reliability can be examined externally, Inter–rater and Test–Retest, as well as internally; which is
seen in internal consistency reliability methods. It's best to establish inter–rater reliability outside of
the context of the study's measure. If the reliability is incorporated in the measure and is extremely
low, this can cause serious issues for the researchers going forward. It is highly recommended that a
pilot study be done to establish the inter–rater reliability. It is also a good idea to periodically assess
the inter–rater reliability if the study will be conducted for an extensive amount of time. There is a
difference in how to assess categorical versus continuous measures' inter–rater reliability. If the
measure is a compilation of categories, then the researchers could have the raters mark each
category that is applicable to the observations. From those selections, the research team should
calculate the percentage of agreement among the raters. However, the research team could also
calculate Cohen's Kappa, for a more "stable" percentage. Cohen's Kappa Cohen's Kappa states:
where Pr(a) is the observed agreement among raters, and Pr(e) is the conjectural likelihood of
chance agreement, using the observed data to calculate the probabilities of the raters hypothetically
choosing each category. With this calculation, if the raters are in complete agreement then

Inconsistency in Adam Bede by George Eliot Essay
Inconsistency in Adam Bede
In George Eliot's Adam Bede, an inconsistency can be found between Dinah's firmly held
convictions and her decision to
marry. Throughout the story, Eliot presents Dinah as a symbol of divine love who persistently shuns
all earthly pleasures of her
own for the benefit of those in need. Several passages in the text show that Dinah insists she must
follow the path God has
chosen for her and prevent her own needs and desires from rising to the surface. Despite her moral
protestations, however,
Dinah marries Adam in the last few pages of the book. This marriage is disappointing in another
sense as well. Dinah was not
only created as a symbol of divine love, but also as a figure who ... Show more content on

We see here
that Dinah is not one to be caught up in the external world. Her mind is occupied with thoughts of
"what it has to give out,"
indicating not only that she is charitable, but also that she is not in the process of observing and
making judgements. Her eyes
do not even appear to be "making observations," but are instead simply "shedding love." She is so
entirely absorbed in her
spirituality that in her mind the outer world is insignificant. This is evident in the way she dresses as
well. We are told that she
wears no adornments; she is always plainly dressed in a Quaker bonnet and a black dress. She does
not try to put on a false
front by embellishing her appearance. She is described as "simple" and "candid" (34).
Following this initial physical description of Dinah is a series of occurrences in which the reader
discovers that Dinah is so
selfless and devout that she denies herself a life of her own. On the very first night that we are
introduced to her we find that she
is resolved "...to live and die without husband or children..." (45). Seth accompanies her home from
the service and makes use
of their time alone together as an opportunity to propose to her. She denies his proposal: "I seem to
have no room in my soul
for wants or fears of my own, it has pleased God to fill my heart so full with the wants and suffering
of his poor people" (45).

Dear Patricia Lodge,
In this report, as requested, I hope to help you understand the current situation, of the Lodge Bistro
Chain. I believe the issues affecting the business are: staffing problems, growing competition,
inconsistency in the approach of management, attracting lower spending customers, disagreement
between managers and company standards lowering.
Part (a)
The staffing issue, more specifically the high staff turnover, is affecting the expenditure of the
company due to the constant training which is also impacting upon existing staff due to the pressure
and responsibility being put on them. The service will also lack in quality and consistency due to
this problem; having both inexperienced and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Part (c)
I believe in order to solve current problems and prevent them resurfacing in the future, The Lodge
Bistro needs to recoup some of its old ways, but still take into consideration some new ideas. For
example, the strict and consistent routine implemented in the late 80's proved itself as a staple for
the success of the business. When the company began its decline, too much was changed at once,
leaving much confusion amongst employees and customers. As mentioned in the case study, 'Large
restaurant chains had yet to dominate the market, Joyce's business therefore secured a successful
niche based on the distinctiveness of her concept'. I think The Lodge Bistro could market this
heavily and reiterate to customers it was the original old–fashioned French bistro, but also keep in
touch with current trends at the same time.
The issue with lower spending customers and different ranges appealing in different locations need
not be a problem, and need not be so inconsistent if a proper marketing scheme was in place. I
suggest higher price banding for city locations and lower price banding for outer city branches
might help, and maybe a trial and error in every cafe for some new ideas put forward already by
managers, like the less packaging scheme, and organic ranges.
Part 2
From the TGF discussions I have seen a variety of ideas from the group which broadened my
horizons greatly on how

Consistency In Mexican Food
When it comes to a Mexican restaurant, a customer wants to be able to rely on the consistency of the
entire criteria. Consistency is important in any food chain and the criteria may vary from person to
person. Typically it involves the taste, appearance, wait time, atmosphere, cleanliness which creates
the ability to satisfy. It is human nature to automatically begin to judge every situation that comes
along. Therefore, doing well in these areas is important to have a high success rate in the food
business. Walking into a Mexican restaurant with the expectation of what Mexican means, and
having the expectations met.
First piece to breaking down the criteria of satisfying mexican food is the taste of their food,
appetizing food is one of the biggest key points. Since that is the whole point of a restaurant is
eating food. Mexican food is known for it's bold flavors and wonderful blend of spices. Which keeps
people coming back for more. When people enjoy a specific dish, they want to come back and have
the expectations of that exact dish each time. Not having the same dish they order change each time
they come in. Consistency in their food is a very important aspect for a restaurant to have. Mexican
food has a wonderful layered flavor in their food. Which means each step done correctly is what
developing that flavor that keeps people wanting more. Having wonderful flavor to food is
important because that is what makes people crave it again later on. Bland boring food is how

Engaging, developing, and managing the MF&L workforce is first priority as the complexity of
managing operations intensifies with expansion. The workforce must be well educated on SOPs,
enabled with the resources to successful complete all requirements, and monitored to ensure quality.
Given the geographic and demographic diversity of their locations, customization of the training
modules must be enabled to facilitate responsiveness to customer needs through the empowerment
of leadership, without violating consistency. Current IT solutions available to Madura lacked
sufficient consistency and coverage capabilities and were ineffective in managing remote programs.
Very few solutions were able to assist in SOP training compliance monitoring. These solutions also
hindered Madura's ability to innovate and adapt to changes in their company's process, which in turn
delayed access to pertinent business information resulting in ineffectiveness. Venkatagiri and
Prakash state, "...large–scale IT systems were found to be rigid on the strategic front. ERP systems
were criticized for prescribing business processes, rather than accommodating them"(2013).

demands of the growing company. Multiple platforms were integrated to form a solution that
addressed many of the issues faced in the early 2000's. Their

Aristotle’s Model: the Play as a Whole
Aristotle's Model: The Play as a Whole
In Aristotle's Poetics, Aristotle emphasizes three major elements of a good play: plot, character, and
thought. To be more specific, in an Aristotelian play, thought sets the cause of action with character
as emotion developer based on plot as the basic form. Besides these three main factors, the idea that
a play should be a complete whole is also the basis of the Poetics (Aristotle 61). Therefore, when
comparing the choices Lobby Hero by Kenneth Lonergan and The Philadelphia Story by Philip
Barry for the play of the season, unification and regularity of all three elements. After comparing
and contrasting both plays, Lobby Hero fits the Aristotle's model's three elements, plot, character

Although Jeff does not indicate any sign about truth telling, his habit of telling truth is embedded in
the details of the play. When Jeff hears Bill lying to Dawn about his fair with Mrs. Heinvald, he
intentionally calls Bill to pick up his hat left in Mrs. Heinvald's apartment. His audacious and
straightforward speaking routine also makes the final truth telling consistent with his characteristics.
Acknowledged that William is his superintendent, he is still dare to talk about his sexual illusion
about female cop. With a faith of telling the truth and frank talking behavior, telling Dawn about
William's brother's crime is consistent to Jeff's personality. In this way, Lobby Hero well constructs
a character with great consistency whose actions hold the play into a rational whole story. If Lobby
Hero's Jeff is consistent in his consistency, Tracy in The Philadelphia Story is inconsistent in her
consistency. Tracy is inconsistent because her sensitivity is changing. She sees George as an angel
the day before the wedding but falls crazily in love with Mike, or Macaulay, and his books the night
before the wedding. However, when she looks at the "boat of true love", Tracy begins to think of the
good time spent with Dexter. Under the presumption that Tracy is a very unstable character, the

I'd like to think I'm a feminist...not a very good one but one nonetheless. I've never had any deep
interest or fixation with internet pornography; my relationship history hasn't come from intending to
bed as many women as possible, but from attempting to satisfy them as much as I could. It's almost
like I idolise women. Don't get me wrong, my history is extensive but I'd like to think I respect and
can relate to women, and to femininity in general (without being confused about my sexuality).
Most of my more meaningful liaisons have been with older, intelligent or career–minded women.
What started off as a complete lack of awareness and low self–esteem driven promiscuity in my
colourful twenties (probably a result of authoritarian parenting from emotionally disconnected
parents) eventually evolved into a more mature self–conscious reticence and humility towards
women. Maybe this is the journey most men take through to middle age...

Gödel's Incompleteness Theorems
Gödel's incompleteness theorems were mathematically proven results but they had broad
philosophical consequences. They were proofs that would show that there are certain true
propositions that are improvable. They were epistemological truths, meaning they dealt with the
nature of knowledge itself by proving an absolute limitation on what we can mathematical prove.
(Goldstein 2013)
To assess the effects of Gödel's results, the theorems themselves will be outlined, as will the three

entities are admitted only if they are man made' (Snapper 1979, 209). Brouwer's criticism of
Logicism is that they use the principles of finite sets and their subsets as a form of logic beyond and
prior to mathematics and used it to reason about infinite sets (Kleene 1952, 46–7).
Intuitionism was developed as a reaction to Cantor's set theory and its paradoxes. Intuitionists
sought to rebuild mathematics from the 'bottom–up'. They saw Mathematics as 'an activity';
Mathematicians do not access pre–existing knowledge but construct knowledge (Brown 2008, 121).
Brouwer saw logic as an unreliable basis for mathematics and therefore Brouwer's intuitionism sees
mathematics as having its foundations with 'Ur–Intuition, a basic intuition of the natural numbers'
(Struik 1987, 202, Palmgren 2009). Its fundamental and defining characteristic is its analysis of
what it means for a statement to be true. In Brouwer's original intuitionism he demands 'truth though
constructivity' (Struik 1987, 202). This means that he only allowed entities that had a clear and
definable method of construction. For example, in this way Brouwer would accept the idea of
possible infinitely, as it required a continuous set of constructions and 'remains forever in the

Personal Narrative: Consistency
This I Believe: Consistency
I believe in consistency. I feel that being consistent in whatever it is that you set out to do can add an
immense amount of wealth to your life. I never realized how inconsistent I had been in
accomplishing some goals that I set for myself until I endured the sudden loss of my grandmother
last year. I saw what I was becoming, what I needed a do to go in a different direction and that I
needed to be consistent in order to do so.
For the majority of my life I have always been overweight. Genetically speaking I am destined to
weigh exceptionally more than the average American woman with my 5'–2" height. For some, it is
thought being overweight is a choice. For a long while I was fine with being my size. Luckily for ...

Why Is Consistency Important For Children
In the answers to this topic, there are benefits for you and your children.
Benefits for your Children:
Stability. This is the #1 benefit for your children. The stability of knowing that you are there. You
are able to answer questions, fix boo–boos, dry tears and offer support. Your children need you. A
lot! Consistency. Your children can rely on you. They can rely on the consistency of the way you run
your household. You are consistent with mealtimes, baths and bedtimes, organization, chores and
discipline. Children need this consistency. Consistency is what gives them routine in their lives. We
all know how important that is. Quality time. All kids need quality time with their mom. Quality

You know that no matter what...you have a job. You don't have to worry about getting laid off or
getting fired. You don't have to worry that someone is going to get promoted over you. You have job
security. You know exactly what is required of you to do your job. You perform your duties on your
own schedule. Consistency. This runs along side of stability. You are in charge! You don't have to
answer to anyone except yourself on the consistencies (or inconsistencies, for that matter) in your
working environment. No specific hours. A mom who works outside the home typically has a 9–5
job. 8–6 if you include her commuting time. A stay at home mom keeps her own hours. If you are
bummed one day and want to take the day off, chill and take the day off! You don't have to be
concerned with how many sick days you have accumulated. There is no time clock to punch. You
don't have to worry about being late getting into work because you gave your children extra kisses.
You don't have to face a disgruntled employer. Another case in point is that you don't have to worry
that you'll be late getting out of work either. Believe me, when the daycare center closes at 6 they
don't care that you had to finish typing up that report so it would be on Mr. SoandSo's desk in the
morning. They expect you to be there to pick up your child before 6. You don't have to face a

Critically assess the view that a concept of miracles is inconsistent with a belief in a benevolent
God. (35 marks)
Before one is able to debate the ideas of inconsistency surrounding miracles, we must define and
clarify what a miracle actually is. One definition is 'an event caused by God, this view is
traditionally supported by Christians and philosophers such as Aquinas. A second definition is 'a
violation of the laws of nature' which is most commonly associated with David Hume. These two
definitions usually underlie the way in which people approach the question of God acting in the
world, thus impacting ones interpretation of miracles showing a benevolent God. Benevolence is
used to describe God being a good and loving God. Many ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Although this could have been down to a mis–diagnoses which distorted the idea of a miracle
occurring. Overall, the inconsistencies with miracles present a biased God. Why would a benevolent
God only perform to people who visit Lourdes and not 'non–believers'? Overall this shows God to
not be benevolent because the miracles he performs are inconsistent and biased.
Keith Ward stated that God is purposely inconsistent with miracles, and does not act within the
world often so he does not undermine our free will, thus presenting a transcendent God. In his book
'Divine Action' he stated that if God helps 'person X' rather than 'person Y', it may be because
'person X' has a more potentially important role in the working out of the divine purpose then
'person Y'. Therefore God's inconsistency is deliberate and his actions are beyond our human
understanding. This supports the concept of God being benevolent as he performs miracles for the
greater good of the people, he can't save everyone, as this would undermine the significance of
miracles, however he does intervene when it will make a large impact in the bigger picture.
However, Hawkins stated that a good theory is one that is straight forward. Ward presents his
argument based on a lot of assumptions. As Gods actions and purpose in the world is beyond our
understanding, it is impossible for us to understand the significance and purpose of miracles. It is
impossible for us to know what God's plan is. Who are we to

Colleges Should Require Class Attendance
Does your attendance record reflect your final grade in college? No not because the professor will
mark you down a certain percentage of your grade, but because of the relationship between students
that show up for class and the ones that regularly skip. When I started attending college, I was a bit
confused why such a large percentage of students weren't attending class. It seemed as the quarter
moved further along, class attendance went down. After spending a bit of time on google, I found a
few statistics that reflect why I believe class attendance should be mandatory. On the contrary, some
students will say that they should have the freedom to decide if they want to go to class, because
they are now adults. However, to improve students grades and school drop–out rates. Colleges
should require class attendance. Building in–class continuity will help prepare young adults for the
work world and requiring class attendance will help develop students for a thriving career.
Fortunately, in grade school you are required to go to school. If you don't there will be some form of
consequences. However, once students enter college they now have the choice of attending class,
thus, teaching inconsistency. Doing so holds back other students in the class ... Show more content

The Importance Of Hypatia For The Development Of Western...
Hypatia of Alexandria is a relevant example of the way in which men fear powerful and intelligent
women due to their insecurity of losing power. Although the way in which she was brought down is
one of the most extreme cases, it resembles much of what continues to go on in Western
Civilization. There are both consistencies and inconsistencies between the sources, lecture, and the
textbook. The inconsistencies most likely attribute to this aforementioned male insecurity. The
Importance of Hypatia for the Development of Western Civilization Much like Hypatia, it is
common to see women's accomplishments downplayed and criticized across all of history. With
another wave of the feminist movement we have seen in the last few years, Hollywood has decided
to do a bit of retelling to set the story straight of a few major events, these specifically focus on The
United States. For example, the movie Hidden Figures (2016), directed by Theodore Melfi, speaks
about black women working in NASA in the 1960s and how their contributions did much for the
success of the program. Another is the documentary Dolores (2017), directed by Peter Bratt, that
was based on the life of Dolores Huerta, a civil rights activist that fought alongside Caesar Chaves,
yet received none of the credit for all her accomplishments in American History textbooks. Both
these films shed light on women that were overlooked in history due to them not conforming to
what society thought a woman should be. For Hypatia, this

Analysis Of On Painting By Leon Alberti
On Painting by Leon Alberti is, in essence, a book of guidelines for novice painters. Alberti explains
that since paintings are meant to represent things that are seen, they need also be approached this
way. In his theory, he breaks up the way of painting into three important components
circumscription, composition, and the reception of light. Within these three are guidelines for the
portrayal of subjects, spaces and emotion.
In the historia, or the work of the painter, there is circumscription, the first step in painting that is
defined by Alberti as the recording of external outlines. He explains that this step should be given
special attention and, ¬in fact, suggests that composition and reception of light should mean nothing
without it. Alberti says that to do circumscription well one must outline everything with a visible
line, and then use a veil. He describes this veil as a layout of parallel lines that allow for the correct
depiction of objects regardless of the position they are in.
Next, Alberti describes the painting component composition, which is the way that objects in a
painting fit together in relationship to one another. It is in this explanation that Alberti delves into
dealing with the perspective of a painting as a whole. As Alberti mentioned in his veil concept,
parallel lines also play a role in constructing objects with angles that rise from the ground. He
explains that by adding perpendicular lines to the parallels, creating a grid, one can measure out the
length and width that every object will be.
A composition must also be well depicted when painting human subjects. Alberti instructs on
methods such as sketching the bones and muscles first and proportioning muscles using the head or
length of the foot. He also highlights the importance of all members of the body looking consistent
and fulfilling the function of what they are doing. The dead should look dead and the living
otherwise. Humans and their actions must be consistent with other subjects in the painting as well.
For depicting emotion, Alberti insists on the use of seven positional body movements that would
apply to both living and inanimate objects, these include up/down, right/left, away/towards and in
rotation. The

Gabriel Tanner as the mysterious creepy guy makes for a good plot beat but make the sequence
more suspenseful and tense. Chris notices him, but then goes on his way. Have Gabriel appear to be
stalking him. Maybe Chris gets to his car, and Gabriel taps on his shoulder and Chris jumps. First,
tease the audience with his uneasy feeling, he dismisses it, and then Gabriel appears. This will
elevate the tension more than Chris approaching Gabriel. Cut the dialogue "Hey. Creepy guy
standing in the back of a room..."
Also, in the scene in which he finds Gabriel Tanner inside his house should be tenser. Again, tease
the audience first. He comes homes, calls out, elevate the tone, and then he finds Gabriel with
Andrea.

There's a tendency to explain or tell feelings or thoughts versus showing. Remember the audience
can only see what's on the screen and they can only hear the dialogue. Show how Chris is visibly
annoyed (rolls eyes, deep breath). Also later, the idea that Chris "ponders his response," should be
visual.
Everyone talks about the attack as if it caused great trauma to Chris, but the audience doesn't feel
this. The audience doesn't feel that he was away.
Cut dialogue: "Let's see who's behind..." Let the visuals (and sounds) convey the tension in the
scene (the library).
Consider a stronger pay–off for the idea of the Black Magic Book.
Consider adding a visual reaction on page 53 when Andrea tells Chris that she's pregnant.
In the climax when Ben is the host, consider having Ben/Demon speak. The climax feels like it
needs a bit more between Chris and Ben/Demon. Remember, he has to not only physically outwit
him, but mentally.
The scene with the paramedics can just be visual, versus including dialogue. Then transition to the
hospital where the doctor tells him, he can see his son.
The dialogue with the lawyer sounds a bit contrived/on the nose.

six basic principles of effective punishment in which are most relevant for consideration when using
procedures that may function as punishment to change any child's given behavior and if these
factors influence whether a given contingency functions as a Punisher.
There Must Exist A Behavioral Contingency
Behavioral contingency is the heart of outcome–oriented punishment. Defined as, a behavioral

they were used for research many years ago on human beings and also animals in which have driven

Towel Hut * Too much responsibility: It is no longer a towel hut. It covers not only distributing and
collecting towels but also explaining policy, taking reservations and managing palapas and
customers' complaints and so on.
Recommended Solutions and Justification * Increasing the supply: The resort could provide more
palapas so that more quests can have opportunity to enjoy it. However I assume that there could be a
limitation of installing palapas by government (such as not to damage the nature). There is no
information regarding government's permission. If so, they should offer alternatives for customers.
The alternatives could be canopies or beach umbrellas. However, these should be provided free. *
Abandoning the first–come, first–served system: All palapas should be rented so that some
customers who choose not to pay for palapas would not feel frustrated or slighted and it is fairer for
every customer to pay for them and no one needs to line up and waste time. * Consistent and
reliable pricing strategy: The Price system should be an hourly basis not daily. For instance, the
resort charges $8 / hour for the use of a palapa. The resort needs to optimize their scarce resource
wisely. * Allocating towel hut's responsibility: The resort should

which, members could stream movies and shows via the Internet or have disks sent to their homes in

could keep, up to, eight movies at a time. Upon the return of a disk, Netflix would automatically

company blog, trying to separate and over–complicate the two services. He then reversed the
changes, in yet another memo, on October 11, 2011. By this point, however, it was too late; more
displeased customers had left and Netflix's stock prices had plummeted. Personally, I believe this
situation caused a short–term public relations nightmare; to the customers who were affected at that
time. Netflix retained over thirteen million subscribers; given time, I believe the new generation of
customers will still be interested in the services they provide. 3. Strengths: If Netflix can maintain
consistency in the services they provide, their product is worth purchasing (subscribing to). No other
companies offer streaming and DVD delivery, to their members, with such convenience.
Weaknesses: The early customers will remember the inconsistent changing and modifying of the
prices and service options; done back in 2011. This caused the loss of many members, who may
remain reluctant to re–join their subscription to Netflix.
Opportunities: Our current generation seems to embrace and encourage the sedentary lifestyle;

Productive routines allow students to develop their own sense of organization and structure in their

will have students get out their assignment notebooks and write homework assignments and
important dates in it. This routine is a recap for students and reminds them what to take home,
complete, or relay any information to their parents. Other effective routines would consist of how
students signal to get attention, time allotted for quiet reading and reflection, when to go to the
restroom or elsewhere, and how they line up when leaving the classroom. I also believe students get
a little off track over the weekend, and I would set up a routine Monday morning to go over what we
have learned and what is to be expected in the classroom for the week. Students like consistency

in having a pre–test and a post–test for each chapter so students have a sense of what they can
expect and what they need to improve on. Students thrive in organized and consistent environments,

For an example, consider two alternative belief systems A and B consisting of beliefs A1, A2 and
B1, B2 respectively. There are two beliefs in each system none of which can justify themselves
alone. If A1 → A2 and A2 → A1, then there are 2 inferential connections in A and a high inferential
density. Bonjour says this makes A likely. However, if only B1 → B2 and not vice versa, then there
is only 1 non–mutual inferential connection in B and thus a low inferential density. Bonjour suggests
that lack of mutual justification makes the whole system of B unjustified since B1 must act
foundationally. From this example, we can see that the coherence of a system is defined to be
inversely related to the number of beliefs in the system and ... Show more content on

Ironically, even Bonjour's own account does not fully live up to this claim in the end. For clarity,
this initial account of Coherentism will henceforth be referred to as Non–foundational Coherentism.
As is to be expected, the account of Non–foundational Coherentism is not without its flaws. Firstly,
coherence is still too broadly defined by Bonjour to be useful. To illustrate the issue, consider two
new belief systems A and B. If A is more inferentially dense but B is less anomalous in content, how
do you decide which belief system is more likely? Curiously, Bonjour is largely silent on this point
despite its dramatic consequences. The effect of this observation might lead one to the same
skeptical conclusion as McGrew's linear foundationalism. In fact, this account may be even more
troubling; the total number of possible coherent belief systems increases exponentially with the
number of possible explanatory beliefs since such belief systems actually inhabit the powerset of
these explanatory beliefs. Secondly, assuming Bonjour's account of Coherentism, one might
encounter a few corner cases where such an account will fail to provide reliable justification
entirely. Consider the case presented by Olsson wherein two eyewitness accounts A1 and A2
describe an event E having occurred. In this example it is assumed that we do not know if E
occurred or who is telling the truth. We first assume that neither account

Consistencies And Inconsistencies In The French Revolution
The French Revolution showed consistencies and inconsistencies when being compared to the
enlightenment and its ideas. The French Revolution started during the years of 1787 and 1789 when
the people of France started to revolt against King Louis XVI. The country had a massive amount of
debt after fighting multiple wars in the previous years, and the King had to raise taxes to help pay.
The people were not happy and the King called a meeting of the Estates General, which separated
France's people into three separate groups. The lowest estate was made up of all the people who
were not nobles or members of the clergy. These people wanted more say in decisions and they
decided to break off and create the National Assembly which was joined by the clergy. The National
Assembly would demand constitutional reform from the King and it led to the start of the
revolution. Prior to the revolution, the enlightenment was an intellectual movement by writers and
scholars during the 18th century. The writers believed that human beings should apply reason and
critical thinking to problems. They would bring upon new thoughts and ideas throughout Europe.
The French Revolution and enlightenment movement were directly related to each other and would
help change Europe forever. The French Revolution displayed many consistencies with
enlightenment ideals. For example, the "Declaration of the Rights of Man and Citizen" showed

Group Climate Essay examples
Group Climate
Group climate consists of the overall sentiment that is displayed within a group. This includes the
aspects of honesty, openness, consistency and respect according to "Teamwork" by Lefasto and
Larson. When evaluating the characteristics of group climate in a team, the most prevalent
component to examine is trust. Trust yields respect, acknowledgement, cohesiveness, a bridge
between cultural differences and above all else, sensitivity to ideas being expressed so a consensus
can be reached. However, as pointed out by "Teamwork", trust is extremely fragile. If trust can be
maintained and not breached, a team has defeated one of the few obstacles that inhibit the team from

In order to evaluate group climate and the level of trust present, we devised this tool (refer to
climate tool). By using this tool, we specifically examined different aspects of what we considered
"beneficial criteria" to effective group climate and "detrimental criteria" to effective group climate.
The tool was divided into two sections in order to evaluate both good and bad displays of climate by
individual members, as opposed to, simply measuring all positive aspects and not taking into
account harmful communication. Team members were graded by subtracting their detrimental points
accrued from their beneficial points. A maximum score would have been a 24.

Weapons Of Influence
Critical Thinking Study Question 1, Chapter 8 Pick any three of the weapons of influence described
in this book. Discuss in each case how the weapon could be used in enhance compliance in what
you would consider an exploitative manner and in what you would consider a nonexploitative
manner. The first weapon of influence that I have chosen to describe in this book is Reciprocity,

rule for reciprocation allows one individual to give something to another with confidence that is not

reciprocity can be used to enhance compliance in what we would consider an exploitative manner

Most companies struggle for customer loyalty as the competition reaches at its peak in

Music Therapy Reflection
In these last few classes were have talked about dibs, gone over some limit setting, and have music
therapists come to the class. I was really interested in hearing about music therapy because I
honestly did not know anything about it before our guest speakers came in. I was excited to see what
it entailed, and was interested in the audience that they worked with. But when they introduced
themselves I quickly became upset when one of the speakers started talking about the dying children
she worked with. I feel like we should have had a warning that she was going to talk about how she
worked with dying children on a song for their funeral because that was too heartbreaking to handle,
especially for someone who has had a very sick younger cousin who has spent large time spans in
the hospital and have had life threatening complications. On a lighter note, we talked about limit
setting in class and I did find it interesting the rule and regulations that came along with limit
setting. I enjoyed the statement "A limit is not needed, until it is needed," because it still allows the
autonomy of the children choosing things while still protecting yourself in situations that are
deemed necessary. I did find it surprising when it was mentioned that some children can spend
entire classes setting limits and making choices on what to do once a limit is not respected. I also
like that we talked about how consistency is key, because that is applicable anywhere in a child's
life, they need consistency in their life to a certain point in order to be well functioning. One of the
reading that we did was a print out combination of powerpoint's and worksheets for limit setting.
One new thing that I learned was the ACT of limit setting, Acknowledge, Communication, and
Target. In this the therapist is expected to acknowledging the child's feelings, State or define the
limit, and then provide an alternative for the child. This made it very clear and helpful to understand
how to set a limit in an appropriate and not in an imaginative limiting way. You acknowledge their
feelings and provide them with an alternative to the behavior that you have deemed unsafe,
destructive, etc. I like this because I have tried something like this in

  • 4. Visibility And Consistency Of Social Media Visibility and Consistency I was facilitating a social media workshop for a writers group in Richmond, Virginia called Agile Writers and a gentleman raised his hand. He was working on writing a book however his book wasn't out yet. He said to me, "My book is not out and I don't have anything to sell, so I'm not on Facebook or social media yet. I'm waiting until my book comes out. Is that wrong?" I answered his question with my favorite quote by H. Jackson Brown, "Opportunity only dances with those already on the dance floor." You see, you must already be on the dance floor ladies and gentlemen. Opportunity is not going to come pull you off the sideline, you have to already be there. You can do this by being visible and consistent on Social ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... You want to hang out there first and establish presence on Facebook, but the tips and strategies I will share really apply to any of the social media sites that you're hanging out on. Number one, branding is largely about visibility and consistency. How visible are you and how consistent are you when we see you? You want to show up on a consistent basis on all of the social media sites that you have elected to play in the sandbox on, okay? You can't just post one thing and then disappear for two weeks and you don't post anything else about your business, your product or your service and then say this ain't working. No, ladies and gentlemen, you have to put some consistency in to posting on social media. When we say consistency, let me take Facebook for an example. If you're in promotion mode, and there's something that you want to get attention on or you want to attract clients or supporters, you really need to be posting one to five times a day. That's right, one to five times a day is what you need to be doing on Facebook to help you have that consistency. It also plays a role into the visibility. You want to be posting at different times during the day. Why? Because those that are friends & followers of yours and those that have clicked like on your business page, hang out on Facebook at different time, so you ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Analysis Of The East Los Angeles College Transfer Center The department that I reviewed using the Council for the Advancement of Standards (CAS) was the East Los Angeles College (ELAC) Transfer Center. I am currently doing my graduate assistantship at the ELAC Transfer Center. Therefore, I thought it would be a more meaningful experience to choose this department to review using the CAS standards because it offers the opportunity to learn more about the department and probably provide my supervisor suggestions that can help improve the department to be more effective in serving students. I interviewed two individuals in the department in order to get some insight on how well of a job the department is dong in adhering to the CAS standards. The first person I interviewed was the Transfer Center ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I would recommend that the ELAC Transfer Center mission be disseminated throughout the office space to reinforce the message of their mission statement every time one of the employees views it. Program The primary elements of the department are academic advising, transfer application assistance, transfer assistance, academic counseling. As a strength, the program is intentional in providing students with reliable information to transfer, since the information is always changing. Also, the department is strong in implementing services such as conferences, workshops, summer programs, and campus tours that with assist students in the transfer process. Another strength of the department is a consistent collaboration with other programs within the institution to benefit the students such as collaboration with programs like Puente and EOP&S in which these programs bring their student to the Transfer Center to attend Transfer 101 workshops. An area in which the department was inconsistent with the CAS standards was in not having established student learning outcomes. In addition, the department was also inconsistent in their program design not using multiple formats to deliver the information, for example lacking a video presence, not doing enough to engage with parents, therefore being unconsidered of their student population. Organization and Leadership The leadership practices of the department are consistent with the CAS standards in that its practices ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Bible: The Preference For Consistency Scale Alexander, you may find it interesting to know that on the Preference for Consistency Scale, I rated my preference for consistency with all "9s" and my preference for consistency from others with all "8s". This prompted me to think about the summation of my scores and the impact consistency has on others. Perhaps the following Bible verse can help explain the rationality behind why religious involvement provides a framework for moral maturity, consistency, and integrity. The Word of God is very specific about how we as Christians are to conduct ourselves. Ephesians 5:15–17 says, "Be very careful, then, how you live –– not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. Therefore, do not be foolish, but ... • 10. Cisco Case Study Essay CASE QUESTIONS – CISCO 1a. How did Cisco find itself in trouble with regard to its intended IT prior to Brad Boston's arrival? Prior to his arrival, CISCO had a decentralized approach to IT spending. Independent business groups were making decisions in fuctional silos. Each group their own funds for IT, therefore, redundant applications such as CRM systems were created. This was a global issue as well as a localized issue. The Cisco philosophy regarding IT was simple: As long as someone was willing to pay for it, the IT department would work on whatever process/project specified. This is not only a waste of money, but it also creates problems when trying to work across teams. If two teams use two different processes to come ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In 1993, when Peter Solvik took over as CIO of Cisco, he reallocated the IT budget to each individual department. He also took the power away from an IT steering committee and gave it to departments. This gave each department the ability to function independent of each other. There was no need for them to communicate with other departments in order to achieve similar objectives and goals. 2a. What is BPOC's role? The BPOC's role is to get together biweekly to review and prioritize key initiatives that impact the company as a whole. BPOC would categorize each initiative and then make recommendations for the different projects. b. How much formal authority does it have? While they demonstrated no "formal" authority; the recommendations carried a great deal of weight. These are senior executives and they do have a vast knowledge of what is needed for the company to continue to be successful. c. How much IT funding does it control? It does not control funding for any initiatives, it merely has strong influence and promotes its recommendations. 3a. Would you approve the call center project, including the rationale for your recommendation? We would approve the call center project. The call center pilot was already successful in the European market and is ready to be deployed throughout the entire company. Analysis Of ' The Sun, Line, And Cave ' Victoria McAlister Professor Talcott Ancient Philosophy 5 December 2014 Consistency in the Sun, Line, and Cave Plato's theory of the Forms showcases that acquiring knowledge involves turning away from the world of senses and moving towards the Forms/world of intellect. Within Plato's Republic there are three analogies: the sun, line, and cave, which are intended to clarify how things experienced in the sensible world are less real than the Forms. All three analogies are consistent through their descriptions of the differences between the intelligible and sensible worlds. The usage of all three also enables Plato to guide readers through the knowledge process, starting with a simple description of the sun and ending with a full example of how man can reach that sun. Plato starts with the analogy of the sun, which points out the contrast between the visible and the intelligible worlds. Within the visible world man has eyes and objects to be seen, but man needs another object for the eyes to see the object. This object is the sun, which provides the light that is required by the eye to view the visible world. In correspondence, the Form of the Good in the intelligible world is equal to the sun by the way that the Good allows the forms to be known. Plato specifically states, "What gives truth to the things known and the power to know to the knower is the Form of the Good. And though it is the cause of knowledge and truth, it is also an object of knowledge" (508e). Along with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 19. Why Do Companies Have Consistency? There are many benefits of having consistency throughout any organisation, whether it is in the workplace or in customer interactions. Meeting demands consistently requires the attention of top leadership and it is becoming an increasingly important factor in various industries (Pulido, Stone and Strevel, 2014). This brief will highlight the advantages of having consistency throughout 'Prestige Worldwide' and how we can adopt it. Consistency is the key to making customers happy, which is the aim of this organisation. In order to provide maximum customer satisfaction, the customers must have a consistent 'customer journey', i.e. the cumulative experience of interactions that a customer has with a company (Pulido et al, 2014). Research ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 2. Emotional consistency: Customer satisfaction and loyalty are heavily influenced by emotions encompassed in a feeling of trust (Beard, 2014), meaning that consistency is important to forge a relationship of trust with customers, which is important for long term growth. We must strive to be a company that customers comfortable with and trust. 3. Communication consistency: It is important to make and meet promises, and equally important to highlight the delivery of these promises. Our marketing communications should focus on the delivery of promises, because that will influence customer perception and enable us to generate a reservoir of goodwill and first–rate reputation. Slogans are commonly based on customer satisfaction, with an example being "Satisfaction guaranteed" by Wal–Mart, and Prestige Worldwide should follow this process (Henard, Szymanski, 2001). Concluding the consistency for Prestige Worldwide, it is recommended that we implement it into our business. A suitable plan of action would be to adopt a journey–based approach with customer interactions by making their transitions between departments more seamless while tracking progress, fix areas where negative experiences are common due to them having 4–5 times more impact than a positive experience, and to do it now (Morris, 2014; Pulido et al, 2014). In order to build intense customer loyalty and reap its benefits, we must be consistent; otherwise our ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 21. Reliability Is Defined, Within Psychometric Testing Reliability is defined, within psychometric testing, as the stability of a research study or measure(s). Reliability can be examined externally, Inter–rater and Test–Retest, as well as internally; which is seen in internal consistency reliability methods. It's best to establish inter–rater reliability outside of the context of the study's measure. If the reliability is incorporated in the measure and is extremely low, this can cause serious issues for the researchers going forward. It is highly recommended that a pilot study be done to establish the inter–rater reliability. It is also a good idea to periodically assess the inter–rater reliability if the study will be conducted for an extensive amount of time. There is a difference in how to assess categorical versus continuous measures' inter–rater reliability. If the measure is a compilation of categories, then the researchers could have the raters mark each category that is applicable to the observations. From those selections, the research team should calculate the percentage of agreement among the raters. However, the research team could also calculate Cohen's Kappa, for a more "stable" percentage. Cohen's Kappa Cohen's Kappa states: where Pr(a) is the observed agreement among raters, and Pr(e) is the conjectural likelihood of chance agreement, using the observed data to calculate the probabilities of the raters hypothetically choosing each category. • 23. Inconsistency in Adam Bede by George Eliot Essay Inconsistency in Adam Bede In George Eliot's Adam Bede, an inconsistency can be found between Dinah's firmly held convictions and her decision to marry. Throughout the story, Eliot presents Dinah as a symbol of divine love who persistently shuns all earthly pleasures of her own for the benefit of those in need. Several passages in the text show that Dinah insists she must follow the path God has chosen for her and prevent her own needs and desires from rising to the surface. Despite her moral protestations, however, Dinah marries Adam in the last few pages of the book. This marriage is disappointing in another sense as well. Her mind is occupied with thoughts of "what it has to give out," indicating not only that she is charitable, but also that she is not in the process of observing and making judgements. Her eyes do not even appear to be "making observations," but are instead simply "shedding love." She is so entirely absorbed in her spirituality that in her mind the outer world is insignificant. This is evident in the way she dresses as well. We are told that she wears no adornments; she is always plainly dressed in a Quaker bonnet and a black dress. She does not try to put on a false

Part (a) The staffing issue, more specifically the high staff turnover, is affecting the expenditure of the company due to the constant training which is also impacting upon existing staff due to the pressure and responsibility being put on them. Part (c) I believe in order to solve current problems and prevent them resurfacing in the future, The Lodge Bistro needs to recoup some of its old ways, but still take into consideration some new ideas. For example, the strict and consistent routine implemented in the late 80's proved itself as a staple for the success of the business. When the company began its decline, too much was changed at once, leaving much confusion amongst employees and customers. As mentioned in the case study, 'Large restaurant chains had yet to dominate the market, Joyce's business therefore secured a successful niche based on the distinctiveness of her concept'. I think The Lodge Bistro could market this heavily and reiterate to customers it was the original old–fashioned French bistro, but also keep in touch with current trends at the same time. The issue with lower spending customers and different ranges appealing in different locations need not be a problem, and need not be so inconsistent if a proper marketing scheme was in place. I suggest higher price banding for city locations and lower price banding for outer city branches might help, and maybe a trial and error in every cafe for some new ideas put forward already by managers, like the less packaging scheme, and organic ranges. Besides these three main factors, the idea that a play should be a complete whole is also the basis of the Poetics (Aristotle 61). Since in intuitionism 'abstract entities are admitted only if they are man made' (Snapper 1979, 209). Brouwer's criticism of Logicism is that they use the principles of finite sets and their subsets as a form of logic beyond and prior to mathematics and used it to reason about infinite sets (Kleene 1952, 46–7). Intuitionism was developed as a reaction to Cantor's set theory and its paradoxes. Intuitionists sought to rebuild mathematics from the 'bottom–up'. They saw Mathematics as 'an activity'; Mathematicians do not access pre–existing knowledge but construct knowledge (Brown 2008, 121). Brouwer saw logic as an unreliable basis for mathematics and therefore Brouwer's intuitionism sees mathematics as having its foundations with 'Ur–Intuition, a basic intuition of the natural numbers' (Struik 1987, 202, Palmgren 2009). Its fundamental and defining characteristic is its analysis of what it means for a statement to be true. In Brouwer's original intuitionism he demands 'truth though constructivity' (Struik 1987, 202). This means that he only allowed entities that had a clear and definable method of construction. A second definition is 'a violation of the laws of nature' which is most commonly associated with David Hume. Why would a benevolent God only perform to people who visit Lourdes and not 'non–believers'? Overall this shows God to not be benevolent because the miracles he performs are inconsistent and biased. Keith Ward stated that God is purposely inconsistent with miracles, and does not act within the world often so he does not undermine our free will, thus presenting a transcendent God. In his book 'Divine Action' he stated that if God helps 'person X' rather than 'person Y', it may be because 'person X' has a more potentially important role in the working out of the divine purpose then 'person Y'. Therefore God's inconsistency is deliberate and his actions are beyond our human understanding. This supports the concept of God being benevolent as he performs miracles for the greater good of the people, he can't save everyone, as this would undermine the significance of miracles, however he does intervene when it will make a large impact in the bigger picture. However, Hawkins stated that a good theory is one that is straight forward. Ward presents his argument based on a lot of assumptions. For example, the movie Hidden Figures (2016), directed by Theodore Melfi, speaks about black women working in NASA in the 1960s and how their contributions did much for the success of the program. Another is the documentary Dolores (2017), directed by Peter Bratt, that was based on the life of Dolores Huerta, a civil rights activist that fought alongside Caesar Chaves, yet received none of the credit for all her accomplishments in American History textbooks. Both these films shed light on women that were overlooked in history due to them not conforming to what society thought a woman should be. For Hypatia, this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 52. Analysis Of On Painting By Leon Alberti On Painting by Leon Alberti is, in essence, a book of guidelines for novice painters. Alberti explains that since paintings are meant to represent things that are seen, they need also be approached this way. In his theory, he breaks up the way of painting into three important components circumscription, composition, and the reception of light. Within these three are guidelines for the portrayal of subjects, spaces and emotion. In the historia, or the work of the painter, there is circumscription, the first step in painting that is defined by Alberti as the recording of external outlines. He explains that this step should be given special attention and, ¬in fact, suggests that composition and reception of light should mean nothing without it. Alberti says that to do circumscription well one must outline everything with a visible line, and then use a veil. He describes this veil as a layout of parallel lines that allow for the correct depiction of objects regardless of the position they are in. Next, Alberti describes the painting component composition, which is the way that objects in a painting fit together in relationship to one another. It is in this explanation that Alberti delves into dealing with the perspective of a painting as a whole. As Alberti mentioned in his veil concept, parallel lines also play a role in constructing objects with angles that rise from the ground. He explains that by adding perpendicular lines to the parallels, creating a grid, one can measure out the length and width that every object will be. A composition must also be well depicted when painting human subjects. Alberti instructs on methods such as sketching the bones and muscles first and proportioning muscles using the head or length of the foot. He also highlights the importance of all members of the body looking consistent and fulfilling the function of what they are doing. The dead should look dead and the living otherwise. Humans and their actions must be consistent with other subjects in the painting as well. For depicting emotion, Alberti insists on the use of seven positional body movements that would apply to both living and inanimate objects, these include up/down, right/left, away/towards and in rotation. Have Gabriel appear to be stalking him. Maybe Chris gets to his car, and Gabriel taps on his shoulder and Chris jumps. First, tease the audience with his uneasy feeling, he dismisses it, and then Gabriel appears. This will elevate the tension more than Chris approaching Gabriel. Cut the dialogue "Hey. Creepy guy standing in the back of a room..." Also, in the scene in which he finds Gabriel Tanner inside his house should be tenser. Again, tease the audience first. Everyone talks about the attack as if it caused great trauma to Chris, but the audience doesn't feel this. The audience doesn't feel that he was away. Cut dialogue: "Let's see who's behind..." Let the visuals (and sounds) convey the tension in the scene (the library). Consider a stronger pay–off for the idea of the Black Magic Book. Consider adding a visual reaction on page 53 when Andrea tells Chris that she's pregnant. In the climax when Ben is the host, consider having Ben/Demon speak. The climax feels like it needs a bit more between Chris and Ben/Demon. Remember, he has to not only physically outwit him, but mentally. The scene with the paramedics can just be visual, versus including dialogue. Then transition to the hospital where the doctor tells him, he can see his son. There Must Exist A Behavioral Contingency Behavioral contingency is the heart of outcome–oriented punishment. Netflix's original marketing strategy offered several flat–rate monthly subscription options; in which, members could stream movies and shows via the Internet or have disks sent to their homes in a pre–paid and pre–addressed envelope. Free from the despair of due dates and late fees, members could keep, up to, eight movies at a time. He then reversed the changes, in yet another memo, on October 11, 2011. By this point, however, it was too late; more displeased customers had left and Netflix's stock prices had plummeted. Personally, I believe this situation caused a short–term public relations nightmare; to the customers who were affected at that time. Netflix retained over thirteen million subscribers; given time, I believe the new generation of customers will still be interested in the services they provide. 3. No other companies offer streaming and DVD delivery, to their members, with such convenience. Weaknesses: The early customers will remember the inconsistent changing and modifying of the prices and service options; done back in 2011. This caused the loss of many members, who may remain reluctant to re–join their subscription to Netflix. I will have subjects color coded and organized throughout my classroom. After every lesson, I will have students get out their assignment notebooks and write homework assignments and important dates in it. This routine is a recap for students and reminds them what to take home, complete, or relay any information to their parents. Other effective routines would consist of how students signal to get attention, time allotted for quiet reading and reflection, when to go to the restroom or elsewhere, and how they line up when leaving the classroom. I also believe students get a little off track over the weekend, and I would set up a routine Monday morning to go over what we have learned and what is to be expected in the classroom for the week. Students like consistency because they feel safe and know what to expect each day. I would have a daily agenda, and how we move from one activity to another, procedures, and expectations would be consistent. I also believe in having a pre–test and a post–test for each chapter so students have a sense of what they can expect and what they need to improve on. There are two beliefs in each system none of which can justify themselves alone. If A1 → A2 and A2 → A1, then there are 2 inferential connections in A and a high inferential density. Bonjour says this makes A likely. However, if only B1 → B2 and not vice versa, then there is only 1 non–mutual inferential connection in B and thus a low inferential density. Bonjour suggests that lack of mutual justification makes the whole system of B unjustified since B1 must act foundationally. From this example, we can see that the coherence of a system is defined to be inversely related to the number of beliefs in the system and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Ironically, even Bonjour's own account does not fully live up to this claim in the end. For clarity, this initial account of Coherentism will henceforth be referred to as Non–foundational Coherentism. As is to be expected, the account of Non–foundational Coherentism is not without its flaws. Firstly, coherence is still too broadly defined by Bonjour to be useful. To illustrate the issue, consider two new belief systems A and B. If A is more inferentially dense but B is less anomalous in content, how do you decide which belief system is more likely? Curiously, Bonjour is largely silent on this point despite its dramatic consequences. The effect of this observation might lead one to the same skeptical conclusion as McGrew's linear foundationalism. In fact, this account may be even more troubling; the total number of possible coherent belief systems increases exponentially with the number of possible explanatory beliefs since such belief systems actually inhabit the powerset of these explanatory beliefs. Secondly, assuming Bonjour's account of Coherentism, one might encounter a few corner cases where such an account will fail to provide reliable justification entirely. Consider the case presented by Olsson wherein two eyewitness accounts A1 and A2 describe an event E having occurred. In this example it is assumed that we do not know if E occurred or who is telling the truth. We first assume that neither account ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 68. Consistencies And Inconsistencies In The French Revolution The French Revolution showed consistencies and inconsistencies when being compared to the enlightenment and its ideas. The French Revolution started during the years of 1787 and 1789 when the people of France started to revolt against King Louis XVI. The country had a massive amount of debt after fighting multiple wars in the previous years, and the King had to raise taxes to help pay. The people were not happy and the King called a meeting of the Estates General, which separated France's people into three separate groups. The lowest estate was made up of all the people who were not nobles or members of the clergy. These people wanted more say in decisions and they decided to break off and create the National Assembly which was joined by the clergy. The National Assembly would demand constitutional reform from the King and it led to the start of the revolution. Prior to the revolution, the enlightenment was an intellectual movement by writers and scholars during the 18th century. The writers believed that human beings should apply reason and critical thinking to problems. They would bring upon new thoughts and ideas throughout Europe. The French Revolution and enlightenment movement were directly related to each other and would help change Europe forever. This includes the aspects of honesty, openness, consistency and respect according to "Teamwork" by Lefasto and Larson. When evaluating the characteristics of group climate in a team, the most prevalent component to examine is trust. Trust yields respect, acknowledgement, cohesiveness, a bridge between cultural differences and above all else, sensitivity to ideas being expressed so a consensus can be reached. By using this tool, we specifically examined different aspects of what we considered "beneficial criteria" to effective group climate and "detrimental criteria" to effective group climate. The tool was divided into two sections in order to evaluate both good and bad displays of climate by individual members, as opposed to, simply measuring all positive aspects and not taking into account harmful communication. Team members were graded by subtracting their detrimental points accrued from their beneficial points. A maximum score would have been a 24. While Aaron clearly contributed the most to his group and scored the highest on beneficial points with a 23, he wound up scoring third highest on the total score after losing points for, creating tension, occasionally blocking ideas by insisting on specific goals, and not always staying 100% on task. Discuss in each case how the weapon could be used in enhance compliance in what you would consider an exploitative manner and in what you would consider a nonexploitative manner. The first weapon of influence that I have chosen to describe in this book is Reciprocity, which comes from chapter 2 reciprocation "the old give and take... and take . According to sociologist and anthropologist, one of the most widespread and basic norms of human culture is embodied in the rule of reciprocity. The rule requires that one person try to repay in kind what another person have provided. By obligating the recipient of an act to repayment in the future. The rule for reciprocation allows one individual to give something to another with confidence that is not being lost. (Cialdini 49) This rule is extremely powerful, often overwhelming. The rule of reciprocity can be used to enhance compliance in what we would consider an exploitative manner and in what we would consider a nonexploitative manner. I was really interested in hearing about music therapy because I honestly did not know anything about it before our guest speakers came in. I was excited to see what it entailed, and was interested in the audience that they worked with. But when they introduced themselves I quickly became upset when one of the speakers started talking about the dying children she worked with. I feel like we should have had a warning that she was going to talk about how she worked with dying children on a song for their funeral because that was too heartbreaking to handle, especially for someone who has had a very sick younger cousin who has spent large time spans in the hospital and have had life threatening complications. On a lighter note, we talked about limit setting in class and I did find it interesting the rule and regulations that came along with limit setting. I enjoyed the statement "A limit is not needed, until it is needed," because it still allows the autonomy of the children choosing things while still protecting yourself in situations that are deemed necessary. I did find it surprising when it was mentioned that some children can spend entire classes setting limits and making choices on what to do once a limit is not respected. I also like that we talked about how consistency is key, because that is applicable anywhere in a child's life, they need consistency in their life to a certain point in order to be well functioning. One of the reading that we did was a print out combination of powerpoint's and worksheets for limit setting. One new thing that I learned was the ACT of limit setting, Acknowledge, Communication, and Target. In this the therapist is expected to acknowledging the child's feelings, State or define the limit, and then provide an alternative for the child. This made it very clear and helpful to understand how to set a limit in an appropriate and not in an imaginative limiting way. You acknowledge their feelings and provide them with an alternative to the behavior that you have deemed unsafe, destructive, etc. I like this because I have tried something like this in ...
