2. Shot Types
Shot Number Shot Type Action Scene
01 Long Shot To show the person and the environment that they
are in and to also show the band in full shot (from
head to toe). I will use this for my cover page as it
will be a good picture to introduce the band to the
reader.
I would like to place the band in a triangle in height order
with them all looking directly at the camera. I will also use
this shot to get a picture of the band with their musical
instruments as it will a be good for the reader visually to see
the band with their instruments so they can see which band
member plays which instrument.
02 Medium Close Up This is a shot were we only from the shoulder
upwards of a person, and we also see some of the
background of the environment that they are in.
To use is shot I would use this to go in my double- page
spread. How I would place the band would be to use the
same position again to take a shot focusing on their shoulder
and above.
03 Medium Shot The medium shot shows the person from the
waste up which will be ideal if I am unable to get
the full person into my frame.
I will use this shot when the band are performing as it will
be an easy shot to do as trying to get a long shot , close up
or medium close will be hard to get when the band are
performing.
04 Noddy Shot This is a shot were it shows the interviewer
reacting and listing to the subject that has been
given.
This will be the ideal shot for me to use in my double- page
spread as I am interviewing the band and so it will link in
nicely with the context of the text.
05 Two- Shot This is a shot were two people are framed in a
medium shot. I my use this in my contents page.
This will be a good shot to use for the contents page as I
could write a little sub- heading underneath to give the
reader some more extra information about the band before
they read the article.
06 High Angle Shot This is a shot wear the camera is looking upwards
at the person or the focus of the shot. I may use
this shot in my contents page or my double- page
spread.
This shot is effective as it is a different shot from the rest of
the shots that I will us in my magazine it will also be a
change of shots for the reader as the will get bored of seeing
the same shots used over again.
07 Close Up This is a shot that will only focus on the persons
face so the reader will be able to see the
expressions of that person.
I will try and use this shot within my magazine, but I do not
think it will fit in with all my other shots that I will use.
However, I will try and get some close up shots of the band
and from there I will see how they look and whether I will
use the shots in my magazine.
08 Wide Shot The person or band is barley visible to the reader
put can show the reader the environment that the
person object is in which in my case it will be in a
pub as that is where the band is performing.
I will use this shot to show the reader the size of the venue
that the band played in, also I will take a shot from the back
of the pub focusing on the band plying on the stage.
09 Extreme Wide Shot This were the person or object is barely visible to
the reader it will be unlikely that I will use this
shot in my magazine.
The reason why I am using this shot as well as the wide shot
is to compare which one will be best suited to my magazine
as one of these shots maybe better than the other shot.
10 Cutaway Shot This is a shot that is focused on something other This shot will work perfectly in my magazine as it would be
3. than the subject. This shot will be used in the
contents page or the double- page spread.
a good idea to take pictures of the audience as well as the
band. This is because the reader can get a insight as to
whether the band is good or not depending on the whether
the audience are enjoying it or not.
