2. Decisions…
As, I am a rather indecisive person, I thought I
would be a good idea to pick out 3 photos our of
the 30 I’d like from my photo-shoot, for each
purpose: front cover, contents page and double
page spread. Therefore, by testing which ones I
like and look best for each purpose, will help me
decide the photo I will end up using for my final
piece.

3. These are the possible 3 front cover images that I am going to edit and see which one looks best for my final
product. I like all three for different reasons and therefore, I believe the best way of deciding will be to
compare all three together for my first draft. I like picture one, as the position of the picture is more to the
right, resulting in having the text to one side. With picture two (in the middle) I have my back towards the
camera, but you can still see the guitar, which is the main reason why I like it. Image 3, is on a different level
to the others, has more of a focus on the guitar and is centred in the middle, which is different to the other
2 pictures. Therefore by having such a mixture of pictures, I’ll be able to compare which one is best for my
front cover. All of these pictures, do have some things in common though, such as they are all natural
looking poses, the guitar is in the photo (which is a convention of acoustic magazine front covers) and they
all are giving direct mode of address to raw the attention of the target market in.

4. I originally thought about using the picture 1 (on the left) to be a possible image for my double page
spread. However, as I am doing an Q&Q interview for my double page spread, I think a picture of the
model would be best even though, that one is a lovely image! As it has such a lovely scenic background,
I thought it would be a nice photo to play around with for my contents page. Image 2, is not one of my
original images, as I found it from the internet. However, when I was looking at inspirational images on
the web, I came across this old piece of paper, which I liked. Therefore, as it has a rather plain
background to it, this could be good when I edit things on to it. So that is why the middle picture is an
option. The last one on the right, was my original choice for the contents page, as it has a lot of space
either side of it, for texts and anything else I would like to add onto it. So I will edit these picture like
with my front cover options and see which one looks best for the purpose.

5. With my double page spread, I am undecided whether I would like the layout to be, one picture of the
talent on one side and the text on the other, or have one picture that covers the two pages and add text
on top of it. This is why I have chosen these three images to edit and see which layout I prefer. Image 2
and 3, were originally one of my favourites to be used for my front cover. However, as I want to try and
see if I prefer the layout where one main image is on the left (or right) and the text on the other, I
thought these two images were best to use for this experiment. I like both of these photos for each
reason, as the middle one concentrates on me playing the guitar and last one on the right has a natural
pose on my face, so I was torn between which one to use. So in the end, I thought I’d try out both and
then see which one I like best with the article next to it. Image one (on the left) is my other option for the
different layout of having the text placed on top of the picture. As, there is a lot of space on the right had
side of the picture, I thought this picture would be the best one to use for this experiment. Although,
none of these pictures have direct mode of address, I ensure that I stuck to that convention with the
front cover, as I believe that it is more important for that purpose, as the front cover grabs the attention
of the readers.
