3. Main artist within the band should take central
place on the front cover, which is what Kerrang
have done with this particular issue I believe this
is used and is a good feature as it is the first thing
we notice when you look at the cover and implies
that they are the main singer of this particular
band, there appears to be a slight distance
between the main artist and the rest of the group,
they evidently seem to be stood in the background
which is eye catching and effective. The camera
shot used is a close up as the band fills the whole
frame, using an image as a whole page instead of
to much writing can work in favor as we all look at
pictures more than words. this issue has a
standard depth of field meaning we can see all that
is on the page and nothing takes the main focus
and it is an open image as we can see beyond the
first artist and there is nothing obstructing the view
of the audience. What is most effective about this
front cover is the fact that the main artist eye is the
center of the frame, it is the first thing you pay
most attention to at a first glance, ensuring you
have each feature in the correct place on your
frame can help add effect. I would use the idea of
having the main artist in the center of the frame as
this will attract the attention of the audience I have
aimed my magazine at, I would also use a feature
such as the eye being the dominant part of this
magazine as I believe it is catchy and draws you
in.
4. The contents page of Kerrang the
mode; is positioned to the left of the
frame as we read from left to right
therefore we would see the picture
first. They have used a medium shot
and the way the hands stand out the
page is really effective and draws in
the readers to this initially, This is a
closed image meaning you cant see
beyond the imagine, I would use this
idea on my contents page only not
the use of hands.
5. This double page spread is effective and uses a long shot ensuring
all the band are in the imagine, this is something I will use for my
magazine, the way all the band fit the frame and a quote from the
text/interview is the first thing we see which draws In the readers
and makes us want to read more as we may be drawn in by the
line they have chosen. Certain members of the band are more
obvious and stand out more than others in this image due to the
positions of each band member, this is something I wont choose
to do in my magazine as I want each member to stand out just as
equally as the next.
