2. My Teaching Philosophy
I believe in helping students be their best selves and to make sure that
they leave my class with the understand that I’ve set out to help them
achieve. I believe in leading students to the answers, not in holding
their hands (though this may happen at times).
I want my students to develop a self-governing system that will allow
themselves to be successful. I also require my students to show respect
to one another and to me, their instructor. I do not use coercion or
rigidity to get my point across. I believe in fairness and equality.
3. Teaching Practices
• I believe in three main teaching practices:
1. Clarity – of content, teacher instructors, admin instructions, etc.
• Clarity of content gives students the feeling that they are able to complete a
task. When students are unclear about an assignment, students will feel
frustrated and more easily give up.
2. Discussion
• Forming classroom discussions requires students to feel safe to express
their approval or objections to classroom content. Allowing students to
openly express themselves, with respect, allows for a more diverse and
interesting conversation.
3. Feedback
• Appropriate and individual feedback allows students to feel that their voice
and opinion matters. Also, when correction is needed, if rapport has been
built between student and teacher, students are more able to take
constructive criticism.
4. Inspirational Quote
"Sometimes it is the people who no one imagines anything of
who do the things that no one can imagine."
– The Imitation Game
“Education is the most powerful tool you can use to change the
world”
– Nelson Mandela
