Far Away From Home
Far Away from Home His plane had just landed on the island Montreal. He already felt nostalgic
ever since he left Marseilles, his hometown. He asked himself whether he will enjoy living blissfully
or suffer in this province because people here are very different than those living in France. Pascal
de Bonaventure was enrolled to Westmount High School. He joined the French immersion program
and took every other enriched course. Pascal was head and shoulders above the rest of the students
in France. He was an intellectual Haitian teenager with a strongly built body and an afro shaped like
a tree. He would naturally have this austere demeanor; he would always put up a serious and cold–
looking face at all times. School started and he headed to his first period, French class. He took a
seat in the farthest corner of the classroom. Pascal kept looking out through the window for what
seemed to be an eternity up until one of his classmates took a seat next to him. The young lad asked
him: –"Hey, new kid, what's your name?" –Pascal replied with a disgruntled look on his face: "Why
does it matter to you, the teacher will call me out later." His classmate gave him a puzzled look with
a hint of frustration. Once class was dismissed, the boy from earlier formally introduced himself and
made a request: –"Sorry about earlier, my name is James. So you're Pascal, huh? Mind if you pass
me your French homework that you finished in class?" Pascal gave him the homework with a
bothered look on

History work
From These Beginnings
1. They all wanted to have something done about the Native Americans. England wanted to make
them civilized and add them to their colonies. They wanted them to be "civilized" to be clothed,
cristianized, fed, and instructed on the English ways, for their native ways were considered
"barbaric". But not everyone wanted them included in their new life, many tribes were chased or
wiped out. The Native Americans were racially predjeduced by many, which was one of the main
reasons they were forced to abandon their traditions and original ways just for survival, and many
didn't last long in the Europeans customs and environments.

But among them there was also a group called the rogues and vagabonds. Beggars, fortune tellers,
entertainers, and prostitutes were in this group, and would all have a big role to play in America.
Over half of London's population was below what we would consider the poverty line today,
including these rouges and vagabonds. The working class there was no better, drowning their
worries with alcohol, a little over 11 million gallons consumed in one year. Religious groups such as
some of the Royalists of England, had to find refuge in America because of the Puritans, who had
beheaded Charles I. The Irish were fleding their homeland because of famine and the landlords, who
were being pushy on rent. But poverty was far above the two, much of Ireland's population
consisted of peasants, and people even further below that. The troubled population of Europe was
driven to America through poverty, hunger, and ambition, but

Reflection Paper
I used to not think this to be true, but once it happened in my life, I became a strong believer in it. I
would hear, "Sometimes you have to let things go, so there's room for better things to come into
your life." I convinced myself to think that this was just a phrase people told themselves and others
to make one another believe that life would get better. It wasn't until one day that I believed it too.
I was very appreciative for the life I had and the people I had living in it. I had a family to support
and care for me and friends to spend time with. As my friends and I grew older and began maturing,
we began to see the true colors in one another. We had different beliefs and opinions, and faced up
hill battles with one another. Years of a close friendship began to crumble, until it whittled away to
nothing. Years of memories burned away and laughs shared between two people suddenly became
deceiving glares of anger in the halls. Losing the friendship I held with another for nearly four years
was what was the most challenging. Someone who knew everything about you, who knew you
better than you knew yourself, was now just another figure in the crowd. We become so acclimated
with objects once they become a part of our life, that when they're gone we question on how to live
without them. Seeing things reminded me of the bond that wasn't supposed to break, and I wondered
how I would ever lift myself up from the beating I'd just taken.
As time passed on, I saw the

How Nepal Is Characterized As Multilingual And...
Nepal is characterized as multilingual and multicultural country from the very beginning.
It is common phenomenon in which Nepalese people are heard using bi/multi–lingual repertoire in
their conversation at informal level. This is the case even before Nepal and its people were exposed
to the outside world viz. the Hindi and the English languages in particular and other foreign
languages in general.
It is observed that people living in large city centres and small remote cities and villages are
multilingual individuals in terms of the attributes active and passive communication as indicated by
Wei (2010, p. 4). The local people in large cities communicate through their active use of
Fishman states that:" Multilingualism often begins in the family and depends upon it for
encouragement if not for protection ( Fishman, 1972:82)".
Nepalese people`s ability to speak their mother tongues and second language notably Nepali is the
indicative of their bilingual status than multilingual. However, their mother tongue speaking ability
or their existing linguistic repertoire is upset by second language or third language they have
acquired or learned. For instance, a Nepalese speech participant who has one of the ethnic languages
as his/her mother tongue also has Nepali, Hindi, and English as foreign languages at their disposal to
use as and when the situation triggers in Nepal.
This study will discuss the actual performance of Nepalese bilinguals who exploit the semiotic

A Comparison OfThe Sacred And Vegetarian Physics?
The message that a poem carries is something that the reader must construct with their ideas and
perspective they hold in order to find the true interpretation of a poem. The poems "The Sacred" and
"Vegetarian Physics" both share some similarities and differences within one another. Both of these
poems also contain imagery. They also contain symbolism in order to describe their message. The
difference between these poems, is the message that they deliver to the reader. Each of them posses
their own unique meaning. These poems also both compare different objects to real life things in
order to be more abstract with their idea.
The poem "The Sacred" uses a special metaphor in order to describe the journey of life. The author
uses a car that signifies the beginning of new journey through life. A new beginning to start with no
second thoughts. "A car could take him from the need. To speak, or to answer, the key, In having a
key, and putting it in, and going". Here the author describes how the student will take the this key, or
what could be described as a decision that was made by the student. This student is taking this key
or decision, putting it into the car, or a new beginning to life. The definite decision of a student to set
forth himself to begin a new chapter in his or her life. In the poem, "Vegetarian Physics" we are also
introduced to unique symbolism used by the author. Here the author decided to use tofu and a
frigidaire in order to symbolize what could be

Psychological Terror In Lemony Snicket's A Series Of...
Everyone has something that scares them, that is frightening more than blood or violence. More
often than not many people are frightened by a physiological thriller rather than one which is simply
all gore. Lemony Snicket's a Series of Unfortunate Events, is exactly that, a psychological terror that
is centered around a series of probable unfortunate events. Although, this movie may be lined with
satirical comedy, it's main storyline is rather gothic in nature. The gothic nature of this movie is
developed by its realism in its villain, plot line, and characters. Lemony Snicket's A Series of
Unfortunate Events, is about three young children whose parents died unexpectedly in a house fire,
leaving them orphaned. The three children are left to their closest relative, Count Olaf, a narcissistic
struggling actor who is a horribly unsuitable parent. It is made apparent early on that Count Olaf is
only after the Baudelaire children's inheritance. He quickly figures out he has no access to the
money, and neither do the children, until Violet the oldest turns 18, or the children die. The entire
movie is based around Count Olaf's many attempts to claim the money. For example; marrying
Violet, killing off a distant relative, leaving the children locked in a car on train tracks, ect. Count
Olaf's first play at the money, is forcing Violet to marry him by holding, Sunny hostage until after
the wedding. He disguises the wedding as a play and cons a judge into officiating the wedding.

Analysis Of Nothing Gold Can Stay By Jane Flanders
The world has several great poets and numerous mind–blowing works, each with its own way of
portraying its own message using symbolism to represent lessons of everyday life. Jane Flanders
wrote the poem named "Cloud Painter" she shows the world from an artistic way, using a painter
and his canvas to help the reader picture the true meaning behind the words and images created.
Robert Frost takes on the same idea, but uses a less complex example so that it makes his work easy
to understand while not revealing the actual meaning of the poem. Frost and Flanders are just two of

Flanders uses this line to represent the things opportunities in the world that are there and difficult to
get without giving up something in return. The special chances that are there from the start are often
not appreciated but the ones that have been worked for do not tend to lose their value over time.
Robert Frost on the other hand used a more fictional approach in "Nothing Gold Can Stay".
"Nature's first green is gold, her hardest hue to hold." This couplet has one key theme that not only
lies in the word choice but in the writing, itself. The start of spring is when all the new flowers
blossom and the leaves on trees become greener. The start of something fresh and lovely is the main
point in this line but this is also a way of saying that the best things that are free are given without
any strings or repercussions are taken advantage of. The next two lines "Her early leaf's a flower;
But only so an hour." In other words, the possibilities that are given throughout life can also be
taken away just as fast. In Frost's poem, he uses the garden of Eden to help the reader to imagine
where this idea is heading. In the first sentence Frost states that "Natures first green is gold" this
represents the very first blooming of flowers and the return of the green leaves during the springtime
which when applied to life, it

Identify the stages of a series of counselling sessions...
1 .1 Identify the stages of a series of counselling sessions The beginning The beginning of the
counselling process starts when the client first meets the counsellor, the saying "first impressions
count" is absolutely true for both the client and counsellor, the client will be very nervous and
unsure what is about to take place. The way the counsellor approaches the client in this infant stage
is vital for the client to gain trust and has the willingness to open up in later sessions. Some clients
may just rush into what is troubling them or say nothing, in both cases the counsellor will need to be
patient, observe and listen to what is being said as there will be vital information given and without
understanding this it could damage ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
1.2 Evaluate the importance of an appropriate opening of a series of sessions In my opinion the
beginning of the counselling session is one of the most important stage of the process, the client will
be very nervous and will not fully trust the process they are about to embark on, their unknown
journey they will be nervous. The Client may hold back what they are feeling until they have gained
the trust of the counsellor, and know they are safe and in a confidential environment. Another
important factor in the opening stage is to draw up a contract and discuss the content with the client,
this will demonstrate it's a working relationship and both the client and counsellor will know their
barriers, it also gives structure and prevents any misunderstanding in the relationship. By having a
contract it demonstrates to the client they are safe and able to speak freely also it shows the client
that each session if totally confidential, there are exceptions to the rule and these will be included in
the contract and what the process will be if they disclose anything that is unlawful. Having
unconditional positive regard from the beginning will display to the client there is no hidden agenda
and that the counsellor is non–judgmental, this will support the client to develop the working
relationship and show the client they are valued and wanted, they will start to relax to open up freely
and loosen up their attitude towards the session. 1.3

employees, turnover, and lack of quality leadership do not go away with a new building. The need
for change in the Canyon Vista Medical Center (CVMC) rehabilitation department is apparent, but

The amount of conflict between these two groups at CVMC requires intervention.
The Human Process Intervention, focuses "on people within organizations and the processes through
which they accomplish organizational goals. These processes include communication, problem
solving, group decision making and leadership (Cummings & Worley, 2015, p. 157). More
specifically the intervention that would be utilized to help with the conflict between the PT's and
PTA's would be to do individual interventions and team building. An individual intervention such as
the Johari window is a great tool that allows individuals to gain feedback about their behaviors
(Cummings & Worley, 2015). The understanding and awareness of their behaviors and how they act
among their fellow co–workers could awaken them to change.
Along with individual interventions, team building would be utilized to help with the conflicts
between these two groups. As evident in the past, conflict among these two groups roams, the
prevention and quieting of conflict has been unsuccessful. In the words of Coggburn, Battaglio and
Bradbury (2014) "conflict is a fact of organizational life– it is inevitable and potentially desirable"
(p. 499). Putting the PT's, a PTA and a tech together as a team would force these three groups to
work together. In fact, the conflict among them may allow for linked learning, higher creative and

The Video Cases : Anthony, Session 3, The Third Session...
the video Cases: Anthony: Session 3, the third session between Anthony and his social worker,
James. Discuss the following issues. Where in the helping relationship with Anthony should James
have first introduced the prospect of termination, and why? "Termination is the final phase of the
helping process, and how the social worker concludes the client–social worker relationship will
influence the extent to which clients may be able to maintain the progress they have achieved.
Ending the client–social worker relationship in a planned and sensitive manner can empower clients
to continue to grow long after they have left the services of the agency and the social worker"
(Cummins et al., 2012, p.268). James should have started discussing the process of termination at
the beginning of the helping relationship because "letting the client know from the intake process
and beyond the parameters of the relationship can be affirming, too. A client will less likely interpret
the ending of the relationship as something personal, such as you don't want to meet any more, you
no longer like him or her, or you are frustrated with the client's lack of progress" (Cummins et al.,
2012, p.269). If James would have informed Anthony from the beginning, it would of better
prepared Anthony in the end and clients who are prepared for the ending are able to accomplish the
goal of termination and have a sense of pride and for others that are not informed or prepared they

Journey Towards the Dark Side In "Greasy Lake," T. Coraghessan Boyle uses setting to portray the
theme of the journey that one goes on to transition from childhood to adulthood. At the beginning of
the short story, "greasy lake" was seen as this fun place that "bad guys" went to hangout. They
smoked cigarettes, drank liquor, and gave their best attempt at finding girls. By the end of the story,
it was a completely different place. The speaker found a dead body, his buddies almost raped an

The story takes place in the 1960s. During this time, there was a really lot of controversy in the
United States involving war. The Vietnam War was was at its peak. The war began in 1955 and did
not end until 1975. Many of the young men went into the war the same way that the narrator and his
friends went to greasy lake. They thought they were perceived as "bad" and brave. Just as the
narrator and his friends headed to greasy lake, they were unsure of what the night was going to
bring. They experienced and saw things that they were not prepared for. In a way, the narrator's car
resembles the war as well. The car belonged to his parents. He took the car out unharmed, and in
good condition. He brought it home broken and tattered. The car resembles the boys who went off
the the war. The narrator would not have ended up in the situation he was in if he did not lose the
keys to the car. Something as insignificant as misplacing a set of keys changed his life. Just as
something insignificant started the war. Almost every person has experienced a "greasy lake" at
some point or another. Driving around with a car full of friends on a Friday night is certainly not a
new tradition for young people. For some kids, it can be as simple as stopping at the corner store for
twenty dollars worth of junk food, listening to the radio at the maximum volume and talking about
life. For others, it may not be that simple. There have always been youngsters like Jeff, Digby,

that have a meaning behind them without revealing them in obvious ways. Although some are
confusing and may use a different style there are a few that present the same message even if they
are written by a different poet. "Cloud Painter" written by Jane Flanders uses the clouds and other
subjects of nature. Such as trees and the hills. to help the reader picture the true meaning behind her
poem. Robert Frost's poem by the name of "Nothing Gold Can Stay" also takes the nature route to
convey the point of his poems words and their Each has a unique way of creating an idea that most
can relate to emotionally and physically. Flanders sees the world as a simple "backdrop" as seen
when she simply states, "At first, as you know, the sky is incidental–a drape, a backdrop for the trees
and steeples. Here an oak clutches a rock (already he works outdoors), a wall buckles but does not
break, water pearls through a lock, a haywain trembles." Showing that the world is just another
curtain painting that is there for looks. The message behind this line is that life rests upon a single
canvas and although it has been damaged it still stands as if to hang on to its life. The first line sets
the poem for the next line to come which explains the main point of the poem "The pleasures of
landscape are endless. What is seen should be enough. "Horizons are typically high and far away."
This shows that the things in life are often taken for granted and used for the wrong

Edward Norton, Disturbing Monster
Edward Norton, disturbing monster, or someone we sympathise with. This is the scene that changes
our very gripping opinions on Derek as a person. It changes the way we view him. He has realised
his wrongs and is showing remorse. In this frame we see Derek covering his eye gripping swastika
tattoo with his hand. His facial expressions filled with remorse as we see his lips over turned like a
frown and his eyes squinting, which allows us to understand his disgust toward his decisions and
hatred for his tattoo. Derek is left looking vulnerable. Through Edward 's performance we see him
totally stripped down and as an audience we can see that so we connect with him, we can feel the
wave of pain and emotion that he is going through. As an audience we see him evolving as a person
he's changing and this is a turning point for him. It was that moment when he really realised killing
those people made no difference it achieved nothing, through Edward 's performance we can really
see that. Derek has gone from being so proud of his tattoo in the first scene to being ashamed of it.
We see him boasting about it in the beginning of the film showing it off like he was Hitler, to this
frame here where he is ashamed to have that on his body now longing for purity and a new

Who Moved My Cheese Reflection
As the days go by, we notice our world is constantly changing and evolving; for better or for worse.
Many individual cope well with their lives changing, but for others, (like myself), have a harder
time adapting to a new routine. A lot of us enjoy living a life–style that is expected every day,
furthermore, we live happier and comfortably. In 1998, Dr. Spencer Johnson introduced Who Moved
My Cheese, to the world a fable on how to adapt to major chances to one's life and to do so in a
more positive attitude. The book as influenced many people, such as well–respected broadcaster
Charlie Jones of NBC. He admits that Dr. Johnson's book may have saved his carrier. Jones is very
familiar with broadcasting Track and Field events at Olympic games, he then found out that his boss
had removed him from his familiar events and was then assign to broadcast swimming and diving, a
sport he knew very little about. Jones grew doubtful and frustrated with the adjustment of his career.
Like most people, he did that adapt well to change. His anger affected everything thing he did,
including himself, he became very unhappy with his job that he enjoyed doing. Jones then heard Dr.
Johnson's successful and life changing story of Who moved my Cheese. He then altered his attitude
and outlook on his new way of living. He stated that doing something new; out of his old routine
made him feel youthful and refreshed. His boss then recognized his new positive energy and
attitude, and he soon got better, beneficial assignments for work. He became more successful than
ever and was then inducted into Pro Football's Hall of Fame, Broadcaster's alley. This domino effect
can demonstrate how such an impactable book like "Who Move my Cheese" can do to someone.
From difficulties at work, or even struggling in a relationship, the book can open anyone's life to a
new positive beginning. Dr. Johnson is a strong believer that his novel can impact and touch the
lives of countless people. The book is divided into 3 sections. The first section shows a former
classmate reunion, they discuss how much their life has changed out of high school. The second
section is the focus of Who Moved My Cheese? At last, the third section

Building upon the elementary school psychology techniques that have proven to be beneficial in the
past will be key in the advancement of this field. In the next ten years , the role of school
psychologists will be targeted more towards the efforts of schools in decreasing violence on
campuses.
"School psychologists likely will continue to spend more than one–half of their time with at–risk
students or students with disabilities. However, according to many, what needs to be done is a
change toward less standardized testing to more intervention–oriented assessment, a greater
involvement with direct interventions, and more time spent in problem solving consultation"

Selfhood In Kate Chopin's The Story Of An Hour
During the late of the nineteenth century, the American society had witnessed the abolishment of
slavery, but still women had no right to vote until 1920. It makes sense, then, that freedom and
feminine selfhood would be of great concern to the forerunners of modern feminism. Kate Chopin's
The Story of an Hour was written in April 1894. In this story, initiated by the false news of Louise
Mallard's husband's death in a train accident, Chopin presents us with a picture of a subjugated
female protagonist feeling a powerful joy for the death of her husband that will give a promising
path of freedom. Chopin's exploration of the themes of feminine selfhood, the yearning for freedom,
independence and new life and of what she calls the "possession of self–assertion" is vividly

It takes place in the Malards residence, the home of Brently and Louise Mallard and it starts in a
public setting, probably the living room or even the kitchen because people are gathered there,
where Josephine reveals, very gently, to her sister that her husband is passed away after a horrible
train accident. The scope of this story is actually super limited: The primary action of the story
occurs within the Mallards' home and it is striking that besides the fact that female characters, and
only, are always inside the house, the characters that entered it did never leave it, as if they are caged
in. Equally, Mrs. Mallard seems to be pretty confined to the house because she "was afflicted with a
heart trouble". Her heart being physically sick is very symbolic of her emotional and psychic state of
sickness caused by her feelings being trapped in her marital life of subjugation. The idea of
confinement is widely reinforced by the image of the internal doors , not only the external ones,
being firmly locked by the aid of a "latchkey" which was opened only once during the

way of explaining the very lessons in life. Each poet has a different way of presenting similar
images but from a different perspective. Flanders sees the world as simple "backdrop" as seen when
she simply states, "At first, as you know, the sky is incidental–a drape, a backdrop for the trees and
steeples. Here an oak clutches a rock (already he works outdoors), a wall buckles but does not break,
water pearls through a lock, a haywain trembles." Showing that the world is just another curtain
painting that is there for looks. The message behind this line is that life rests upon a single canvas
and although it has been damaged it still stands as if to hang on to its life. The first line sets the
poem for the next line to come which explains the main point of the poem "The pleasures of
landscape are endless. What is seen should be enough. "Horizons are typically high and far away."
This shows that the things in life are often taken for granted and used for the wrong reasons.
Flanders uses this line to represent the things in the world that are there and difficult to get without
giving up something in return. The special treasure that is there from the start is often not
appreciated but the ones that have been worked for do not tend to lose their value over time. Robert
Frost, on the other hand, used a more fictional approach in "Nothing Gold Can Stay". "Nature's first
green is gold, Her hardest hue to hold." This couplet has one key theme, hat not only lies in the word
choice but in the poem, itself. The start of spring is when all the new flowers bloom and the leaves
on trees become greener. The start of something new and beautiful is the

The End By Lemony Snicket Summary
I have recently finished reading a book titled, The End by Lemony Snicket. In The End, few inhabits
of the island saw three kids and one adult crash–land on the island. The captured the adult and put
him in a cage unfortunately but the three kids were left on the island, and those three kids were the
Baudelaire orphans. The Baudelaire orphans were Violet, Klaus, and Sunny at ages 15, 12, and 1
respectively. They were originally on a boat heading in no specific direction, aimlessly sailing
around the sea stuck on a boat with Count Olaf, who was repeatedly yelling he had triumphed and
caught the Baudelaire's in his clutches this time. They then shipwrecked on the island, where the
Baudelaire orphans had to stay until the end of the book when

Essay about Graduation Speech
Class of 2012, tonight is the last time we will share together for many years. After tonight, we will
begin a new chapter in our lives. This chapter will lead us away from each other, but the memories
we've shared will continue to stay. The years behind us have been full of challenges and rewards;
these experiences will be there to guide us as we branch out into the world.
Let's take a moment to think back to the people and times that shaped us the last four years. Every
teacher deserves a "thank you" for helping us to reach our goal of graduation. The love and support
of our families has been greatly appreciated. But truly, the main ingredient of our high school
experience has been our peers. We all faced hardships, but we were able ... Show more content on

Junior year our vision of the world was rocked by September 11th. This event made us thankful for
our freedom, our country and our flag. But the year continued with Sleep–In Wednesdays... I mean
Academic Seminar Wednesdays and prom to help carry us through.
Then last but not least, we became seniors! It seemed too good to be true. We were overwhelmed
with senior meetings, senior pictures, ordering caps and gowns and finishing all the requirements of
graduation. These last few months have forced us to take responsibility to reach our goals and grab
hold of challenges. All of the uproar of the year made us bind together. We have encouraged each
other to keep going and helped each other endure all of Mr. Angelos' long stories. Senioritis has
taken a toll on us, but in the past few weeks, we've found our motivation once again in preparation
for this memorable day.
As we leave here tonight and go our separate ways, Shana and I would like to wish each of you
good luck on your journey and to take care of yourselves. Hopefully, all the friendships and
memories we've made through the years will not end tonight. As we hug each other goodbye and say
our farewells, let us not forget what this ceremony is all about. It marks a new beginning. So, take
on challenges, and don't be afraid to take a strong step into the next chapter of your life. In closing,
we would like to leave you with a word of

Count Olaf In The Bad Beginning
Count Olaf is known to be a dangerous criminal in the book series, A Series of Unfortunate Events.
His main target is the Baudelaire orphans, who were left extremely wealthy after the passing of their
parents, and Olaf has shown throughout the books that he is willing to do anything to get their
money. In the work The Bad Beginning, the author Lemony Snicket uses the character Count Olaf to
show that being greedy can get you into trouble and villainous acts can sometimes bring people
together.
Count Olaf's selfish need for money got him into trouble. For instance, when Olaf kidnapped Sunny
to blackmail Violet into marrying him so he could have control of her wealth, his plan was foiled
and there was a warrant put out for his arrest. His

Beatrice And Benedict's Relationship In Much Ado About...
Who has a healthier relationship Beatrice and Benedict, or Hero and Claudio? Benedict and Beatrice
show more of the vital components for a healthy relationship. Some of these are trust,
communication, and true compassion. However, you can't have a true relationship without some
issues. Hero and Claudio lack these components altogether as in they do not show trust, true
compassion, nor communication. I believe that Beatrice and Benedict have a healthier relationship
because they show these components throughout the story..
Beatrice and Benedict have more true compassion for each other than Hero and Claudio. Evidence
of this would be when Benedict asked what he could do to for Beatrice, and she then asked him to
kill Claudio for hurting her cousin. Benedict issued a challenge on Beatrice's behalf. He was willing
to kill one of his best friends for Beatrice. While Claudio clearly has no compassion for Hero, the
evidence of this is when he heard a rumor saying that Hero was cheating on him. Claudio obviously
does not have any true compassion for Hero because he did not have any compassion to confront or
talk to her about what he heard and seen previously. Instead, he publicly shamed her even though he
was not completely certain it was her with another man in her chamber window. ... Show more

Tender Napalm by Philip Ridley
Tender Napalm is a play by the celebrated, contemporary British playwright Philip Ridley.1 The
play was published in 2011 and premiered in the Southwark Playhouse in London. Ridley's oeuvre
consists of work in eclectic styles and written for various different audiences (he is a prolific creator
of material for children, as well as plays for adults with difficult and often violent themes). Many
attempts have been made to classify Ridley within the so–called "in–yer–face" movement within
British theatre, however most critics acknowledge that his plays are unique and often defy
classification.2 Tender Napalm features many of the hallmarks of Ridley's writing (violent imagery,
obsession with the power of language, and distorted memories), but the play is perhaps most
interesting for its rather unique structure. This paper will give an overview of the plot of the play
and attempt to outline its main structural elements, before moving towards an analysis of how the
structure operates. Comparisons will be drawn with Aristotle's theories of theatrical structure, in
order to examine how the play's structure sits within traditional models of Western playmaking, but
also pushes against them in innovative ways. Ultimately, this paper will argue that the structure of
the play is, in and of itself, performative. The plot of the play deals in fractured memories and an
attempt to re–experience the past, that which is always–already absent. The structure of the play
functions to disrupt the

From The Very Beginning, Children Are Taught The Difference
From the very beginning, children are taught the difference between right and wrong. So, if you can
do the crime you can do the time, is what some people will answer when asked if they think
teenagers should be given the same punishment as adults when committing the same crime. People
are arguing whether teenage repeat offenders should suffer the same consequences as grown–ups,
and if or if not what are the consequences for these children. Juveniles should not go through the
same legal penalties as adults after they have become teenagers. Instead teenagers should be aimed
at rehabilitation and making them ready to be productive members of society. Those that are

Teens do not process everything carefully and when a teen does commit a crime he/she may not
know how it can be a domino effect and hurt them their whole life. Instead of punishing these teens
the same as adults, even when they do commit the same level of crimes they should be helped. Just
talking to these teenagers makes a huge difference, even if they do not know it, it means everything
to them that there is someone out there wanting them to have a second chance and correct their
wrong doing while they are still young. As Richard Quigley wrote in Empowering our Children to
Succeed, "we want young people to understand how they can be of legitimate value to themselves
and their communities" and by giving them this opportunity of help we can help them correct their
path (25). "A person's brain is not fully developed until they hit the age of twenty–five says Lenroot

Since the very beginning there has been discrimination, corruption, and over all rebellion. People
have always fought for their beliefs, one way or another. A widely–spread argument now is the
question if gay marriage should become legal. This question has been becoming more public
throughout the years. People have had conflicting thoughts about this topic whether gays should be
allowed to marry or not. On June 26th, 2015, gay marriage was ruled to have rights that would be

This law prevented same–sex couples from receiving the same benefits that heterosexual couples
had and states did not have to recognize gay marriages that were performed in state or out of state.
In 2003, a few states established the rights to sexual privacy and gave same–sex couples the same
rights as heterosexual married couples without calling it marriage. After this was ruled the number
of states that banned gay marriage went from 13 to 30. President Obama became the first sitting US
president to announce publicly his support for gay marriage stating: "At a certain point, I've just
concluded that for me personally it is important for me to go ahead and affirm that I think same–sex
couples should be able to get married". In 2013 and 2014, gay marriage bans were overturned by
courts in several states, but were put on hold by the US Supreme Court. This topic was on hold and
declined up until 2015. On June 26th, 2015, the US Supreme Court ruled that the US Constitution

The At 2 : Beginning Of What Will Be A Very Polyphonic...
The oboe at 2:26 is the beginning of what will be a very polyphonic section (2:26–3:03). The oboe
sound here is the perfect intro/opening to this section because it is welcoming and almost reminds
me of springtime. It starts off by moving up the scale slowly and then returning to the tonic. It then
moves quickly up the scale and returns to the tonic. It is very legato and happy sounding. The flute
at 2:26 is very whimsical and involves a lot of switching between 2 notes with small intervals. It
complements the opening oboe well and contributes to the happy spring like opening to the section.
When the clarinet chimes in at 2:31 it immediately pierces the ear and takes over the section. The
melody goes up once in pitch, and then quickly falls and rises again. The high note is then held for
an extended period of time until the clarinet trickles out of the note by descending the scale. This
melody is repeated for the whole section by the clarinet. There are some slight variations, but for the
most part the melody stays the same and is repeated for the whole section. There are times where it
is tough to hear the clarinet due to the other instruments but it is there. The low instruments that
come in at 2:39 bring a whole new mood to the section. Their different timbre brings a sense of
danger approaching. The constant strike of the cello gives the piece a profound beat and almost
sounds like the big mean footsteps of danger approaching. The introduction of the

Millions Danny Hales Essay
In the film, Millions, directed by Danny Boyle, a compelling character who intrigues me is the
antagonistic Anthony Cunningham. I find his complex character interesting as he is still grieving for
his mother's tragic death whilst managing to use her death to his advantage. Also, his way of
thinking and dealing with the money is very different to from many other kids his age would do. His
way of thinking has a powerful awareness of right from wrong – but throughout the movie he gets it
jumbled up a bit...
The film is set during the changing of all European currencies to a single currency – the Euro. Due
to this, we can see that money is going to take a significant role in the film. Anthony (along with his

Anthony is still struggling within the stages of grief and is trying hard to mask it. The director shows
this in the opening scene, the two boys delightedly lay down next to each other after riding their
bikes. As the two brothers lay down next to each other, we can see that Damian is wearing a blue
shirt which can often be interpreted as sorrow or calmness. While Anthony is wearing a red jacket
which is normally deciphered as hatred or anger. However under Anthony's red jacket, we can see
that he is also wearing a blue shirt. The director's purpose of doing this is to foreshadow that
Anthony is using ignorance to mask his misery and woe. The director shows us that Anthony
disguises his sadness with annoyance towards the end of the movie when Damian brings Dorothy
into their house. This is shown because we can see Anthony thinking that she is there to replace their
mother. Due to this, we see him whispering a angry hushed tone "Is that what you want? Her in
there with him, instead of Mum?". Personally, this is quite understandable because I know that it is
extremely difficult to be going through the stages of grief after someone–who–is–close–to–you's
death. This could link back to my first paragraph – Anthony wants to keep a close relationship with
Damian by trying to set a good example by moving on. Anthony struggling through the hardships
may also be why he is pulled in by tempting 'money from

Review Of Lemony Snicket's The Bad Beginning
I've read many books in my life that touched me but I've never read a book that changed me as much
as the book The Bad Beginning by Lemony Snicket.. The book starts, of course, with a bad
beginning. The main characters, Violet, Klaus, and Sunny Baudelaire lose their parents in a fire.
They are sent to live with a really distant relative named Count Olaf. He is very cruel and makes the
orphans do many hard chores. But one day he offers the orphans to join him in a play about
marriage. Count Olaf would be the groom and Violet would be the bride. It is supposed to be a fake
marriage but the kids find out that it is real. They find out that the only reason he is doing it was to
steal the Baudelaire fortune. They refused were forced to participate. During ... Show more content

I say that because I felt bad for the orphans but they helped me understand that not every relative
will be kind. Like Count Olaf. Plus, if someone is mean in the beginning and then they suddenly
become nice, they probably mean more harm than good. Another thing I realized was that my life
can turn around at any moment. Just like the Baudelaires. Second, now I see myself as a totally
different person. I am more of an open person now. I like to share my thoughts and how I feel about
things. If the Baudelaires had shared their thoughts about staying with Count Olaf, and the way he
treated them earlier they probably would have suffered less. This book also helped me think about
others more. If I ever see anyone suffering as much the orphans I will totally speak up. Last, this
book changed the way I see the world. Now I understand that on any average day anything as bad as
losing my home and my parents could happen. I know now that the world will not believe that
you've been tortured if you don't have proof, just like they denied the Baudelaires. Also, I trust less
people now. If the orphans had trusted Count Olaf their lives would have been much

Leadership Has Not Changed Very Much From The Beginning Of...
My view on leadership has not changed very much from the beginning of this course. However, I
have been able to learn more formal theories and ideas that support my definition of leadership. I
have always compared leadership to management because though the two are different when it
comes down to it, they do share a few similarities. My definition of leadership that I referred to
throughout this course was: a continuous process where an individual motivates changes and
inspires others to achieve a common purpose. This course really confirmed for me that leadership is
an ongoing process and one is never done learning how to become a leader. This course made me
realize though, how management is good, but good leadership is more important to a company. We
look at several studies about how a manager's leadership can influence sales, employee motivation,
and so much more. For me, this reinforces my idea that being a manager is just not enough anymore,
but one also has to be an inspiring leader for their followers. Leadership is taking what management
does a step further by understanding their followers, encouraging growth, and inspiring a way to get
there. Finally, this course confirmed for me that there are no set personality traits that make someone
a good leader. Instead, there are traits that are common amongst leaders. This does not mean that
those who do not possess those traits cannot become leaders, it just mean they may have to work a
bit harder than others.

The Use Of Irony In Raymond Carver's Cathedral
When someone is oblivious to their prejudice, it can be difficult to get them out of that mold of
thinking. Biased people do not desire interactions with those they judge due to stereotyping and
ignorance. However, if biased people make an effort to connect to the misunderstood, minds can
become more open and they can put their prejudice to rest. Raymond Carver's short story named
"Cathedral", tells of a visit that a blind man called Robert took to the narrator's home. Jealousy from
the narrator's wife's companionship with Robert and the narrator's prejudice causes him to dislike
Robert. However, at the end of the visit, the narrator and Robert create a drawing of a cathedral

A Day I Was A New Beginning For My Life

Look Pass The Label By Paul Gauguin

A few weeks ago, I visited the Museum of Modern Art. As I was going through the second
exhibition a particular painting caught my attention. Still life with three puppies by Paul Gauguin
was titled. My first encounter with this painting was through the title, which made me create
negative hypothesis on what the painting was depicting. When looking at this painting all I could
think about was my lack of fascination towards animals, especially puppies, while the person
standing next to me was sighing and smiling about according to her "how cute the puppies are".
Unlike that person, I am not an admirer of puppies and as result I move quickly from the painting.
However, as I made a second round on the exhibition, this time when I saw the painting I was
beginning to notice things like shapes, symbols and colors and immediately forgot about my initial
reaction. I begin to realize that there might be more to the painting than what I originally saw, but I
have been blind from my initial judgments.
In my second observation I was able to look pass this initial judgments drawn by the title. The title
"Still Life with Three Puppies" confirm my assumptions about the painting and prevented me from
continuing seeing what the painting is trying to depict. This name limited my thinking and didn't
allow me to see the painting from what it is.

Challenges Of Entrepreneurs Face At The Very Beginning Of...
Introduction to crowdfunding: An inherent problem that entrepreneurs face at the very beginning of
their entrepreneurial initiative is to attract outside capital, given the lack of collateral and sufficient
cash flows and the presence of significant information asymmetry with investors. While different
investors exist for larger amounts of capital such as VC funds and banks, entrepreneurial initiatives
that require much smaller amounts to start with need to rely on friends and family or own savings.
They then also make extensive use of bootstrapping techniques to mitigate their financial
constraints, by boosting their short–term profits. More recently, some entrepreneurs have started to
rely on the Internet to directly seek financial help from the general public (the "crowd") instead of
approaching financial investors such as business angels, banks or venture capital funds. This
technique, called "crowdfunding".
Meaning of crowdfunding: Crowdfunding is one way that businesses can seek money to startup their
businesses, finance a new product, or expand their operations. Crowdfunding raises funds or capital
by using online and social media networks to get a large number of people to contribute money
towards a project in exchange for a good, service or equity. Generally money is raised through a
fundraising website such as kickstarter. Another way to describe the meaning of crowdfunding is by
the use of small amounts of capital from a large number of individuals to

Character Analysis Of Freddie In The Shade
Were you ever nervous and bothered about changing the life you've lived the most? Freddie in the
Shade, written by Pam Munoz Ryan, is about a young boy named Freddie who struggles with
realizing the beauty of change and moving forward in life. Having a hard time with moving on,
Freddie is left disagreeable but soon begins to let go of the past and becomes acceptable to new
things coming his way. Freddie is an interesting character because he likes to have power over his
own life but he tries to hold himself down to feel empathy for those he truly cares for. There are
several events and examples throughout the story Freddie in the Shade, that express Freddie as a
strong, caring, and kindhearted character.
Freddy can be described as disagreeable at the beginning of the story although at the end of the story
he becomes acceptable and open to new beginnings. For example, in the beginning of the story on
page 12 the author states "For weeks, Freddie had been hibernating in his room, trying to avoid dad
and Maggie. They tried to include him in every boring preparation for the baby." With the evidence,
the author provides us we can predict that Freddie doesn't like when he is pushed into doing
something he doesn't want to do leaving Freddie very disagreeable and stubborn. On the very first
paragraph of page 11, the narrator states "Freddie hoped that the dark shades would protect him
from anything else that might disrupt his life." From the statement, the author provides in

The Eyes Were Watching God Character Analysis
Model Amber Valletta wrote, "We are what we see. We are products of our surroundings." A major
element of someone's personality is due to their environment or past events of their lives. Janie
Crawford is certainly not an exception. This is the story of Janie's Pursuit for love where she, a
widowed woman, unfolds her story to her friend Pheoby at dinner. She talks about her childhood
with Nanny and The Washburns, her relationships with Logan Killicks and Joe Starks or Jody, her
experiences with them along with events that took place while being with them or in relation to
them, how they affected her mentality, and how she grows up and matures throughout her life to the
self–reliant woman telling the story. In The Eyes Were Watching God, by Zora Neale Hurston, the
struggles in Janie's problematic relationships with Logan and Joe impacted her, which gave her more
and more experiences to gradually building up to the independent woman she is in the beginning of
the story.
The beginning phase of Janie's development was her marriage to Logan, where she thought that the
marriage which Nanny forced upon her might end up fulfilling her aspiration for love. Logan was
very nice to Janie at the beginning, but later, as time went by, he wasn't as nice to her anymore. One
morning Logan called for Janie for her to come out and help him with his work in the fields.
"Janie!" Logan called harshly. "Come help me move dis manure pile befo' de sun gits hot. You don't
take a bit of interest in

Far Away From Home

  • 1. Far Away From Home Far Away from Home His plane had just landed on the island Montreal. He already felt nostalgic ever since he left Marseilles, his hometown. He asked himself whether he will enjoy living blissfully or suffer in this province because people here are very different than those living in France. Pascal de Bonaventure was enrolled to Westmount High School. He joined the French immersion program and took every other enriched course. Pascal was head and shoulders above the rest of the students in France. He was an intellectual Haitian teenager with a strongly built body and an afro shaped like a tree. He would naturally have this austere demeanor; he would always put up a serious and cold– looking face at all times. School started and he headed to his first period, French class. He took a seat in the farthest corner of the classroom. Pascal kept looking out through the window for what seemed to be an eternity up until one of his classmates took a seat next to him. The young lad asked him: –"Hey, new kid, what's your name?" –Pascal replied with a disgruntled look on his face: "Why does it matter to you, the teacher will call me out later." His classmate gave him a puzzled look with a hint of frustration. Once class was dismissed, the boy from earlier formally introduced himself and made a request: –"Sorry about earlier, my name is James. So you're Pascal, huh? Mind if you pass me your French homework that you finished in class?" Pascal gave him the homework with a bothered look on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. From These Beginnings: A Very Brief History Of Native... History work From These Beginnings 1. They all wanted to have something done about the Native Americans. England wanted to make them civilized and add them to their colonies. They wanted them to be "civilized" to be clothed, cristianized, fed, and instructed on the English ways, for their native ways were considered "barbaric". But not everyone wanted them included in their new life, many tribes were chased or wiped out. The Native Americans were racially predjeduced by many, which was one of the main reasons they were forced to abandon their traditions and original ways just for survival, and many didn't last long in the Europeans customs and environments. 2. But among them there was also a group called the rogues and vagabonds. Beggars, fortune tellers, entertainers, and prostitutes were in this group, and would all have a big role to play in America. Over half of London's population was below what we would consider the poverty line today, including these rouges and vagabonds. The working class there was no better, drowning their worries with alcohol, a little over 11 million gallons consumed in one year. Religious groups such as some of the Royalists of England, had to find refuge in America because of the Puritans, who had beheaded Charles I. The Irish were fleding their homeland because of famine and the landlords, who were being pushy on rent. But poverty was far above the two, much of Ireland's population consisted of peasants, and people even further below that. The troubled population of Europe was driven to America through poverty, hunger, and ambition, but ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Reflection Paper I used to not think this to be true, but once it happened in my life, I became a strong believer in it. I would hear, "Sometimes you have to let things go, so there's room for better things to come into your life." I convinced myself to think that this was just a phrase people told themselves and others to make one another believe that life would get better. It wasn't until one day that I believed it too. I was very appreciative for the life I had and the people I had living in it. I had a family to support and care for me and friends to spend time with. As my friends and I grew older and began maturing, we began to see the true colors in one another. We had different beliefs and opinions, and faced up hill battles with one another. Years of a close friendship began to crumble, until it whittled away to nothing. Years of memories burned away and laughs shared between two people suddenly became deceiving glares of anger in the halls. Losing the friendship I held with another for nearly four years was what was the most challenging. Someone who knew everything about you, who knew you better than you knew yourself, was now just another figure in the crowd. We become so acclimated with objects once they become a part of our life, that when they're gone we question on how to live without them. Seeing things reminded me of the bond that wasn't supposed to break, and I wondered how I would ever lift myself up from the beating I'd just taken. As time passed on, I saw the ... • 4. How Nepal Is Characterized As Multilingual And... Nepal is characterized as multilingual and multicultural country from the very beginning. It is common phenomenon in which Nepalese people are heard using bi/multi–lingual repertoire in their conversation at informal level. This is the case even before Nepal and its people were exposed to the outside world viz. the Hindi and the English languages in particular and other foreign languages in general. It is observed that people living in large city centres and small remote cities and villages are multilingual individuals in terms of the attributes active and passive communication as indicated by Wei (2010, p. 4). The local people in large cities communicate through their active use of Fishman states that:" Multilingualism often begins in the family and depends upon it for encouragement if not for protection ( Fishman, 1972:82)". Nepalese people`s ability to speak their mother tongues and second language notably Nepali is the indicative of their bilingual status than multilingual. However, their mother tongue speaking ability or their existing linguistic repertoire is upset by second language or third language they have acquired or learned. For instance, a Nepalese speech participant who has one of the ethnic languages as his/her mother tongue also has Nepali, Hindi, and English as foreign languages at their disposal to use as and when the situation triggers in Nepal. This study will discuss the actual performance of Nepalese bilinguals who exploit the semiotic sources they ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. A Comparison OfThe Sacred And Vegetarian Physics? The message that a poem carries is something that the reader must construct with their ideas and perspective they hold in order to find the true interpretation of a poem. The poems "The Sacred" and "Vegetarian Physics" both share some similarities and differences within one another. Both of these poems also contain imagery. They also contain symbolism in order to describe their message. The difference between these poems, is the message that they deliver to the reader. Each of them posses their own unique meaning. These poems also both compare different objects to real life things in order to be more abstract with their idea. The poem "The Sacred" uses a special metaphor in order to describe the journey of life. The author uses a car that signifies the beginning of new journey through life. A new beginning to start with no second thoughts. "A car could take him from the need. To speak, or to answer, the key, In having a key, and putting it in, and going". Here the author describes how the student will take the this key, or what could be described as a decision that was made by the student. This student is taking this key or decision, putting it into the car, or a new beginning to life. The definite decision of a student to set forth himself to begin a new chapter in his or her life. In the poem, "Vegetarian Physics" we are also introduced to unique symbolism used by the author. Here the author decided to use tofu and a frigidaire in order to symbolize what could be ... • 6. Psychological Terror In Lemony Snicket's A Series Of... Everyone has something that scares them, that is frightening more than blood or violence. More often than not many people are frightened by a physiological thriller rather than one which is simply all gore. Lemony Snicket's a Series of Unfortunate Events, is exactly that, a psychological terror that is centered around a series of probable unfortunate events. Although, this movie may be lined with satirical comedy, it's main storyline is rather gothic in nature. The gothic nature of this movie is developed by its realism in its villain, plot line, and characters. Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events, is about three young children whose parents died unexpectedly in a house fire, leaving them orphaned. The three children are left to their closest relative, Count Olaf, a narcissistic struggling actor who is a horribly unsuitable parent. It is made apparent early on that Count Olaf is only after the Baudelaire children's inheritance. He quickly figures out he has no access to the money, and neither do the children, until Violet the oldest turns 18, or the children die. The entire movie is based around Count Olaf's many attempts to claim the money. For example; marrying Violet, killing off a distant relative, leaving the children locked in a car on train tracks, ect. Count Olaf's first play at the money, is forcing Violet to marry him by holding, Sunny hostage until after the wedding. He disguises the wedding as a play and cons a judge into officiating the wedding. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Analysis Of Nothing Gold Can Stay By Jane Flanders The world has several great poets and numerous mind–blowing works, each with its own way of portraying its own message using symbolism to represent lessons of everyday life. Jane Flanders wrote the poem named "Cloud Painter" she shows the world from an artistic way, using a painter and his canvas to help the reader picture the true meaning behind the words and images created. Robert Frost takes on the same idea, but uses a less complex example so that it makes his work easy to understand while not revealing the actual meaning of the poem. Frost and Flanders are just two of the many poets that use nature as a way of explaining the very lessons in life. Each poet has a different way of presenting similar images but from a different ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Flanders uses this line to represent the things opportunities in the world that are there and difficult to get without giving up something in return. The special chances that are there from the start are often not appreciated but the ones that have been worked for do not tend to lose their value over time. Robert Frost on the other hand used a more fictional approach in "Nothing Gold Can Stay". "Nature's first green is gold, her hardest hue to hold." This couplet has one key theme that not only lies in the word choice but in the writing, itself. The start of spring is when all the new flowers blossom and the leaves on trees become greener. The start of something fresh and lovely is the main point in this line but this is also a way of saying that the best things that are free are given without any strings or repercussions are taken advantage of. The next two lines "Her early leaf's a flower; But only so an hour." In other words, the possibilities that are given throughout life can also be taken away just as fast. In Frost's poem, he uses the garden of Eden to help the reader to imagine where this idea is heading. In the first sentence Frost states that "Natures first green is gold" this represents the very first blooming of flowers and the return of the green leaves during the springtime which when applied to life, it ... Identify the stages of a series of counselling sessions... 1 .1 Identify the stages of a series of counselling sessions The beginning The beginning of the counselling process starts when the client first meets the counsellor, the saying "first impressions count" is absolutely true for both the client and counsellor, the client will be very nervous and unsure what is about to take place. The way the counsellor approaches the client in this infant stage is vital for the client to gain trust and has the willingness to open up in later sessions. Some clients may just rush into what is troubling them or say nothing, in both cases the counsellor will need to be patient, observe and listen to what is being said as there will be vital information given and without understanding this it could damage ... The Client may hold back what they are feeling until they have gained the trust of the counsellor, and know they are safe and in a confidential environment. Another important factor in the opening stage is to draw up a contract and discuss the content with the client, this will demonstrate it's a working relationship and both the client and counsellor will know their barriers, it also gives structure and prevents any misunderstanding in the relationship. By having a contract it demonstrates to the client they are safe and able to speak freely also it shows the client that each session if totally confidential, there are exceptions to the rule and these will be included in the contract and what the process will be if they disclose anything that is unlawful. Having unconditional positive regard from the beginning will display to the client there is no hidden agenda and that the counsellor is non–judgmental, this will support the client to develop the working relationship and show the client they are valued and wanted, they will start to relax to open up freely and loosen up their attitude towards the session. 1.3 ... The Human Process Intervention, focuses "on people within organizations and the processes through which they accomplish organizational goals. These processes include communication, problem solving, group decision making and leadership (Cummings & Worley, 2015, p. 157). More specifically the intervention that would be utilized to help with the conflict between the PT's and PTA's would be to do individual interventions and team building. An individual intervention such as the Johari window is a great tool that allows individuals to gain feedback about their behaviors (Cummings & Worley, 2015). The understanding and awareness of their behaviors and how they act among their fellow co–workers could awaken them to change. Along with individual interventions, team building would be utilized to help with the conflicts between these two groups. Where in the helping relationship with Anthony should James have first introduced the prospect of termination, and why? "Termination is the final phase of the helping process, and how the social worker concludes the client–social worker relationship will influence the extent to which clients may be able to maintain the progress they have achieved. Ending the client–social worker relationship in a planned and sensitive manner can empower clients to continue to grow long after they have left the services of the agency and the social worker" (Cummins et al., 2012, p.268). James should have started discussing the process of termination at the beginning of the helping relationship because "letting the client know from the intake process and beyond the parameters of the relationship can be affirming, too. A client will less likely interpret the ending of the relationship as something personal, such as you don't want to meet any more, you no longer like him or her, or you are frustrated with the client's lack of progress" (Cummins et al., 2012, p.269). If James would have informed Anthony from the beginning, it would of better prepared Anthony in the end and clients who are prepared for the ending are able to accomplish the goal of termination and have a sense of pride and for others that are not informed or prepared they could have a harder ... • 13. Analysis Of Cloud Painter By Jane Flanders The world has several great poets and numerous mind–blowing works, each with its own way of portraying its own message using symbolism to represent lessons of everyday life. Each poet has a different way of presenting similar images but from a different perspective. Poems are short stories that have a meaning behind them without revealing them in obvious ways. Although some are confusing and may use a different style there are a few that present the same message even if they are written by a different poet. "Cloud Painter" written by Jane Flanders uses the clouds and other subjects of nature. Such as trees and the hills. to help the reader picture the true meaning behind her poem. Robert Frost's poem by the name of "Nothing Gold Can Stay" also takes the nature route to convey the point of his poems words and their Each has a unique way of creating an idea that most can relate to emotionally and physically. Flanders sees the world as a simple "backdrop" as seen when she simply states, "At first, as you know, the sky is incidental–a drape, a backdrop for the trees and steeples. Here an oak clutches a rock (already he works outdoors), a wall buckles but does not break, water pearls through a lock, a haywain trembles." Showing that the world is just another curtain painting that is there for looks. The message behind this line is that life rests upon a single canvas and although it has been damaged it still stands as if to hang on to its life. The first line sets the poem for the next line to come which explains the main point of the poem "The pleasures of landscape are endless. What is seen should be enough. Many individual cope well with their lives changing, but for others, (like myself), have a harder time adapting to a new routine. A lot of us enjoy living a life–style that is expected every day, furthermore, we live happier and comfortably. In 1998, Dr. Spencer Johnson introduced Who Moved My Cheese, to the world a fable on how to adapt to major chances to one's life and to do so in a more positive attitude. The book as influenced many people, such as well–respected broadcaster Charlie Jones of NBC. He admits that Dr. Johnson's book may have saved his carrier. Jones is very familiar with broadcasting Track and Field events at Olympic games, he then found out that his boss had removed him from his familiar events and was then assign to broadcast swimming and diving, a sport he knew very little about. Jones grew doubtful and frustrated with the adjustment of his career. Like most people, he did that adapt well to change. His anger affected everything thing he did, including himself, he became very unhappy with his job that he enjoyed doing. Jones then heard Dr. Johnson's successful and life changing story of Who moved my Cheese. He then altered his attitude and outlook on his new way of living. He stated that doing something new; out of his old routine made him feel youthful and refreshed. His boss then recognized his new positive energy and attitude, and he soon got better, beneficial assignments for work. He became more successful than ever and was then inducted into Pro Football's Hall of Fame, Broadcaster's alley. This domino effect can demonstrate how such an impactable book like "Who Move my Cheese" can do to someone. From difficulties at work, or even struggling in a relationship, the book can open anyone's life to a new positive beginning. Dr. Johnson is a strong believer that his novel can impact and touch the lives of countless people. The book is divided into 3 sections. The first section shows a former classmate reunion, they discuss how much their life has changed out of high school. The second section is the focus of Who Moved My Cheese? Selfhood In Kate Chopin's The Story Of An Hour During the late of the nineteenth century, the American society had witnessed the abolishment of slavery, but still women had no right to vote until 1920. It makes sense, then, that freedom and feminine selfhood would be of great concern to the forerunners of modern feminism. Kate Chopin's The Story of an Hour was written in April 1894. In this story, initiated by the false news of Louise Mallard's husband's death in a train accident, Chopin presents us with a picture of a subjugated female protagonist feeling a powerful joy for the death of her husband that will give a promising path of freedom. Chopin's exploration of the themes of feminine selfhood, the yearning for freedom, independence and new life and of what she calls the "possession of self–assertion" is vividly displayed in a rich and colorful ... The scope of this story is actually super limited: The primary action of the story occurs within the Mallards' home and it is striking that besides the fact that female characters, and only, are always inside the house, the characters that entered it did never leave it, as if they are caged in. Equally, Mrs. Mallard seems to be pretty confined to the house because she "was afflicted with a heart trouble". Her heart being physically sick is very symbolic of her emotional and psychic state of sickness caused by her feelings being trapped in her marital life of subjugation. The idea of confinement is widely reinforced by the image of the internal doors , not only the external ones, being firmly locked by the aid of a "latchkey" which was opened only once during the ... Tender Napalm by Philip Ridley Tender Napalm is a play by the celebrated, contemporary British playwright Philip Ridley.1 The play was published in 2011 and premiered in the Southwark Playhouse in London. Ridley's oeuvre consists of work in eclectic styles and written for various different audiences (he is a prolific creator of material for children, as well as plays for adults with difficult and often violent themes). Many attempts have been made to classify Ridley within the so–called "in–yer–face" movement within British theatre, however most critics acknowledge that his plays are unique and often defy classification.2 Tender Napalm features many of the hallmarks of Ridley's writing (violent imagery, obsession with the power of language, and distorted memories), but the play is perhaps most interesting for its rather unique structure. This paper will give an overview of the plot of the play and attempt to outline its main structural elements, before moving towards an analysis of how the structure operates. Comparisons will be drawn with Aristotle's theories of theatrical structure, in order to examine how the play's structure sits within traditional models of Western playmaking, but also pushes against them in innovative ways. Ultimately, this paper will argue that the structure of the play is, in and of itself, performative. The plot of the play deals in fractured memories and an attempt to re–experience the past, that which is always–already absent. The structure of the play functions to disrupt the ... • 28. The At 2 : Beginning Of What Will Be A Very Polyphonic... The oboe at 2:26 is the beginning of what will be a very polyphonic section (2:26–3:03). The oboe sound here is the perfect intro/opening to this section because it is welcoming and almost reminds me of springtime. It starts off by moving up the scale slowly and then returning to the tonic. It then moves quickly up the scale and returns to the tonic. It is very legato and happy sounding. The flute at 2:26 is very whimsical and involves a lot of switching between 2 notes with small intervals. It complements the opening oboe well and contributes to the happy spring like opening to the section. When the clarinet chimes in at 2:31 it immediately pierces the ear and takes over the section. The melody goes up once in pitch, and then quickly falls and rises again. The high note is then held for an extended period of time until the clarinet trickles out of the note by descending the scale. This melody is repeated for the whole section by the clarinet. There are some slight variations, but for the most part the melody stays the same and is repeated for the whole section. There are times where it is tough to hear the clarinet due to the other instruments but it is there. The low instruments that come in at 2:39 bring a whole new mood to the section. Their different timbre brings a sense of danger approaching. The constant strike of the cello gives the piece a profound beat and almost sounds like the big mean footsteps of danger approaching. • 29. Millions Danny Hales Essay In the film, Millions, directed by Danny Boyle, a compelling character who intrigues me is the antagonistic Anthony Cunningham. I find his complex character interesting as he is still grieving for his mother's tragic death whilst managing to use her death to his advantage. Also, his way of thinking and dealing with the money is very different to from many other kids his age would do. His way of thinking has a powerful awareness of right from wrong – but throughout the movie he gets it jumbled up a bit... The film is set during the changing of all European currencies to a single currency – the Euro. Due to this, we can see that money is going to take a significant role in the film. Anthony (along with his family) are dealing with the repercussion ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Anthony is still struggling within the stages of grief and is trying hard to mask it. The director shows this in the opening scene, the two boys delightedly lay down next to each other after riding their bikes. As the two brothers lay down next to each other, we can see that Damian is wearing a blue shirt which can often be interpreted as sorrow or calmness. While Anthony is wearing a red jacket which is normally deciphered as hatred or anger. However under Anthony's red jacket, we can see that he is also wearing a blue shirt. The director's purpose of doing this is to foreshadow that Anthony is using ignorance to mask his misery and woe. The director shows us that Anthony disguises his sadness with annoyance towards the end of the movie when Damian brings Dorothy into their house. This is shown because we can see Anthony thinking that she is there to replace their mother. Due to this, we see him whispering a angry hushed tone "Is that what you want? Her in there with him, instead of Mum?". Personally, this is quite understandable because I know that it is extremely difficult to be going through the stages of grief after someone–who–is–close–to–you's death. This could link back to my first paragraph – Anthony wants to keep a close relationship with Damian by trying to set a good example by moving on. Anthony struggling through the hardships may also be why he is pulled in by tempting 'money from ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 30. Review Of Lemony Snicket's The Bad Beginning I've read many books in my life that touched me but I've never read a book that changed me as much as the book The Bad Beginning by Lemony Snicket.. The book starts, of course, with a bad beginning. The main characters, Violet, Klaus, and Sunny Baudelaire lose their parents in a fire. They are sent to live with a really distant relative named Count Olaf. He is very cruel and makes the orphans do many hard chores. But one day he offers the orphans to join him in a play about marriage. Count Olaf would be the groom and Violet would be the bride. It is supposed to be a fake marriage but the kids find out that it is real. They find out that the only reason he is doing it was to steal the Baudelaire fortune. They refused were forced to participate. During ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I say that because I felt bad for the orphans but they helped me understand that not every relative will be kind. Like Count Olaf. Plus, if someone is mean in the beginning and then they suddenly become nice, they probably mean more harm than good. Another thing I realized was that my life can turn around at any moment. Just like the Baudelaires. Second, now I see myself as a totally different person. I am more of an open person now. I like to share my thoughts and how I feel about things. If the Baudelaires had shared their thoughts about staying with Count Olaf, and the way he treated them earlier they probably would have suffered less. This book also helped me think about others more. If I ever see anyone suffering as much the orphans I will totally speak up. Last, this book changed the way I see the world. Now I understand that on any average day anything as bad as losing my home and my parents could happen. I know now that the world will not believe that you've been tortured if you don't have proof, just like they denied the Baudelaires. Also, I trust less people now. • 31. Leadership Has Not Changed Very Much From The Beginning Of... My view on leadership has not changed very much from the beginning of this course. However, I have been able to learn more formal theories and ideas that support my definition of leadership. I have always compared leadership to management because though the two are different when it comes down to it, they do share a few similarities. My definition of leadership that I referred to throughout this course was: a continuous process where an individual motivates changes and inspires others to achieve a common purpose. This course really confirmed for me that leadership is an ongoing process and one is never done learning how to become a leader. This course made me realize though, how management is good, but good leadership is more important to a company. We look at several studies about how a manager's leadership can influence sales, employee motivation, and so much more. For me, this reinforces my idea that being a manager is just not enough anymore, but one also has to be an inspiring leader for their followers. Leadership is taking what management does a step further by understanding their followers, encouraging growth, and inspiring a way to get there. Finally, this course confirmed for me that there are no set personality traits that make someone a good leader. Instead, there are traits that are common amongst leaders. This does not mean that those who do not possess those traits cannot become leaders, it just mean they may have to work a bit harder than others. Leadership ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Biased people do not desire interactions with those they judge due to stereotyping and ignorance. However, if biased people make an effort to connect to the misunderstood, minds can become more open and they can put their prejudice to rest. Raymond Carver's short story named "Cathedral", tells of a visit that a blind man called Robert took to the narrator's home. Jealousy from the narrator's wife's companionship with Robert and the narrator's prejudice causes him to dislike Robert. The nonexistent number of friendships the narrator had proved the valid statement of Robert who had great warmth for mankind even with physical disadvantages. However, the narrator couldn't get a clue of what his philosophy hindered him from who had the advantage of vision. The narrator felt a sense of some sort of hierarchy towards Robert who had a useful stance with it. Ironically, the narrator who was blind and had a lot of disgust towards Robert ended up being the narrator's teacher in the sketch of the "Cathedral". The use of irony was more evident at the end of the narrative as the narrator didn't open his eyes when he had the option. I came to Vermont on December 09th, 2008. I was about 14 years old, and I had no idea what I was thinking of. I was so confused, and I didn't speak English at all. I thought I was lost because I saw so many diverse people I've never seen in my life. I felt uncomfortable to be here because I didn't understand what it was going on this state. I thought that I was in wrong place because it wasn't easy for me to start living in Vermont. Living in Vermont made feel like I was totally blank in my mind because I felt dislocated and insecure. For example, I was scared to go outside and hang out with other friends because I thought they would hit me or laugh at me. I remember playing around with my neighbors; they came to me and asked me if I could play with them. I was totally lost because I didn't understand what they asked me. They kept mumbling words I couldn't understand at all. I felt unwanted to be with them because they didn't speak my native language. As I left them, they started laughing so hard, and I was afraid of asking them what they were laughing. As long as they kept laughing, I suddenly ran to my room with anger. As I was going through the second exhibition a particular painting caught my attention. Still life with three puppies by Paul Gauguin was titled. My first encounter with this painting was through the title, which made me create negative hypothesis on what the painting was depicting. When looking at this painting all I could think about was my lack of fascination towards animals, especially puppies, while the person standing next to me was sighing and smiling about according to her "how cute the puppies are". Unlike that person, I am not an admirer of puppies and as result I move quickly from the painting. However, as I made a second round on the exhibition, this time when I saw the painting I was beginning to notice things like shapes, symbols and colors and immediately forgot about my initial reaction. I begin to realize that there might be more to the painting than what I originally saw, but I have been blind from my initial judgments. In my second observation I was able to look pass this initial judgments drawn by the title. The title "Still Life with Three Puppies" confirm my assumptions about the painting and prevented me from continuing seeing what the painting is trying to depict. • 37. Challenges Of Entrepreneurs Face At The Very Beginning Of... Introduction to crowdfunding: An inherent problem that entrepreneurs face at the very beginning of their entrepreneurial initiative is to attract outside capital, given the lack of collateral and sufficient cash flows and the presence of significant information asymmetry with investors. While different investors exist for larger amounts of capital such as VC funds and banks, entrepreneurial initiatives that require much smaller amounts to start with need to rely on friends and family or own savings. They then also make extensive use of bootstrapping techniques to mitigate their financial constraints, by boosting their short–term profits. More recently, some entrepreneurs have started to rely on the Internet to directly seek financial help from the general public (the "crowd") instead of approaching financial investors such as business angels, banks or venture capital funds. This technique, called "crowdfunding". Meaning of crowdfunding: Crowdfunding is one way that businesses can seek money to startup their businesses, finance a new product, or expand their operations. Crowdfunding raises funds or capital by using online and social media networks to get a large number of people to contribute money towards a project in exchange for a good, service or equity. Generally money is raised through a fundraising website such as kickstarter. Freddie in the Shade, written by Pam Munoz Ryan, is about a young boy named Freddie who struggles with realizing the beauty of change and moving forward in life. Having a hard time with moving on, Freddie is left disagreeable but soon begins to let go of the past and becomes acceptable to new things coming his way. There are several events and examples throughout the story Freddie in the Shade, that express Freddie as a strong, caring, and kindhearted character. Freddy can be described as disagreeable at the beginning of the story although at the end of the story he becomes acceptable and open to new beginnings. They tried to include him in every boring preparation for the baby." A major element of someone's personality is due to their environment or past events of their lives. Janie Crawford is certainly not an exception. This is the story of Janie's Pursuit for love where she, a widowed woman, unfolds her story to her friend Pheoby at dinner. She talks about her childhood with Nanny and The Washburns, her relationships with Logan Killicks and Joe Starks or Jody, her experiences with them along with events that took place while being with them or in relation to them, how they affected her mentality, and how she grows up and matures throughout her life to the self–reliant woman telling the story. In The Eyes Were Watching God, by Zora Neale Hurston, the struggles in Janie's problematic relationships with Logan and Joe impacted her, which gave her more and more experiences to gradually building up to the independent woman she is in the beginning of the story. The beginning phase of Janie's development was her marriage to Logan, where she thought that the marriage which Nanny forced upon her might end up fulfilling her aspiration for love. Logan was very nice to Janie at the beginning, but later, as time went by, he wasn't as nice to her anymore.
