• Analysis:
– The music and sfx go hand in hand within silent
hill to create a ambient , mysterious and
unsettling environment and with the fog drowning
out large portions of the game its hard to discern
the time of day. Faint sounds of metal scraping ,
bells , animals and other creatures scatter the
background noise to keep the player unnerved.

• The walten files
• Analysis:
• The Walten Files is a horror series of VHS
animated tapes, similar to that of Squimpus
Mcgrimpus or Local58. It's also inspired by
Five Nights at Freddy's. Its music usually
consists of drowned out and faded classic
music during the advertisements and
company tape section. Any sfx or narration
are distorted along with heavy mechanical
sounds for the animatronics but with a
sinister tone.

• Analysis:
– The music of Cristobal Tapia De Veer
encapsulates the tone of utopia completely
with its mildly sinister yet questionable tone to
keep the watcher enticed by even sampling
laboured breathing to fall into that bracket of
uncertainty. The sfx truly captivate the gritty
nature of the show and the gore that is within
it going hand in hand with the paranoid and
uncertain tone of the show completely.

8. Foley
• I fel like the sounds we accumulated fit well with the
scene and also sound pretty convincing and some of
them where accidental. Next time I feel like I should
pay more attention to the recorder as I ended
turning it off a lot of the time when we needed it
making the editing harder.

9. Recording
• Specific areas have there ups and down as outside
was fairly windy and there was lots of car noise
which kind of played into our foly but also places that
are inside where a challenge as there are usually
people around making it harder to get clean audio
• It caused some disruption to the sound but nothing
extremely bad and in some parts played into the
foley
10. Garage Band
• I learned to use garage band software a bit
more and made a small type beat with hat I
could but it definitely could be better with a
more consistent melody and 808 pattern and
may help me mix and find sounds for my story.

12. Proposal – title/audience
• Title : Woodsboro massacre.
• my audience will most likely be for a more mature audience
such as 17+, anyone in any social status , a group that have
knowledge of classic slasher movies such as scream, Friday
the 13th , Halloween and nightmare on elm street etc.
13. Project concept
• I want to make a story about and in light of old classic slasher
movies such as scream, Halloween , Friday the 13th and
nightmare on elm street but having a slight self aware aspect
like scream but not overdoing it as it ends up just coming off as
satire. The name and title of the story being “the Woodsboro
massacre” is a nod to scream itself as the fictional town it was
based in was Woodsboro. The killer is definitely going to be
masked as it falls into that category of those 90s slashers and
also adds mystery behind the character giving the story more
hook as they want to find the killers identity.
15. Story
• It’s a summer night in the 90s in Woodsboro, stale heated air
looms over the neighbourhood with an occasional crack of the
wind and the constant chirp of the crickets drown out all
thoughts of the Carson household. Mist begins to shroud the
entire neighbour hood yet the party next door continues on,
their screams drowned out by the music, a note left written in
the blood of the victims sit stationary “ you’ve met a terrible
fate haven’t you” – majora stained upon the white page.

whys your dad up so late aint he got work tomorrow” dano points
to ayces house next door to a silhouette through the window
shrouded in black. Ayce sprints back home pulling dano alon with
him to investigate the figure in the glass.

• “yo hold up bro whos that in your window , bro whats wrong with is face”

• “check this out bro , I think we better get to yours now”
• dano points to ayces house next door to a silhouette through the window shrouded in black. Ayce sprints back
home pulling dano along with him to investigate the figure in the glass. I bears a mask of sunken black eyes ,
white features blended with a light blue , black goo oozes from its eyes as it catches dano and ayce looking , it
retreats brandishing a blade stained in red.
• “ I don’t know what to say bro im so sorry , we should really call the cops man im so sorry” dano whispers as
ayce stands in horror.
• “hello , yeah id like to report a murder of a family , yeah im with my friend were safe I think, he fleed as soon as
we saw us , ok , they’ve been , well they’ve all had their eyes gauged out and been propped up looking at the
tv, ok , yeah ok, be here as soon as possible” - dano to the police
• Dano grabs ayce , the exit the house with ayce not saying a word, just a black void set behind his eyes.

23. Daily Reflection Day 1
• I Downloaded an audio recording app and collected some audio
from around college such as , running , door slamming , walking ,
background speaking but unfortunately this had to be scrapped
as the audio would not transfer. We filmed on the camera instead
in hopes too transfer the audio and just rip it from the video.
24. Daily Reflection Day 2
• We have used the same method as yesterday by
filming for our audio rather than using the app
and for the most part this has worked out fine
but has just made it slightly annoying as there
was already plenty of audio on the app that we
have had to retake but this is a minor problem.
26. Research
• My research gave me more knowledge on how older and more original
slasher movies where made mostly within the audio and similar areas like the
ambient sounds, sound design , background sounds etc and gave me a more
clear view on what will work well with my project.
• All though it helped me a lot with the research on how they made all the old
slasherhorror movies it was a dated and old construct as we've moved
forward in technology and knowledge of sound soe of the old methods have
become dated.
27. Planning
• Planning it out gave me a more clear and concise layout for what I was
going to approach fist and how to go about it for example what music
sounds I should apply here , what narration should I have here and how it
should be delivered. It also gave me help on my time management as I had
everything planned id have some knowledge on how long it was going to
take me to edit, add or change certain aspects of my task.
28. Time Management
• I finished most of my work on time but needed some slightly extra time
for the narration project and just main project in general as I wanted to
get it done properly and to a better degree than what it was at at that
time.
29. Technical Qualities
I believe my work was detailed enough in the areas it had to be with the use of reverb
and phaser I some areas to add to the horror aspects along with adding effects to the
background sound , music and effects to add to the atmosphere. We used audacity to
record our audio
30. Aural Qualities
We came across a couple problems with the audio but those were resolved, and I
believe in the field and genre my tory is within it has its creative effects as it also reaches
into the modern world and the old classic slashers.
31. Audience Appeal
I've appealed to a more older audience by nature with the graphic content but also a
more horror/slasher audience and maybe even some older people In that audience. My
story try's to embrace that old feel and style of the classic slasher horrors such as Scream,
, Friday the 13th , Halloween and The nightmare on elm street. With this it will pull in a
audience of people who like the newer stuff in horror plus the possibly the older
generation giving it a wider reach.
