Cursed reflections
Project Concept/Synopsis: 200 words approx.
A family of 5 live in an old mansion that has laid dormant and to rot by the coast of banesport
previously owned by the banes family who also ran the local fisheries by the coast which have now
gone into disrepair. Demi, the youngest of the family wonders off into the backyard, a large forest
shrouds the sky for miles, upon his adventure he finds an old crypt with a coffin placed right in the
middle. His curiosity peaks and he tries to force open the coffin to no avail. He leaves and upon his
first steps outside a crash echo past him reverbing from the walls of the crypt and a crash of the
roof is heard, bricks flail in the air with a shrouded black figure disappearing along with them. Later
that night a report of 20 dead construction workers is air saying they all had their blood drained
from their necks, a knock at the door carries itself through the empty halls, a figure doused in black
and stained with red with a pale set face and black sunken eyes, the creature exclaims “I apollo
banes am home”
I need to Research on old classic horror and monster movies such as “dark shadows”
including the old tv series to really understand the building grounds for a monster, horror
movie with some comedic tropes to add a balance. Also, maybe some old horror and
monster novels to give me more of a broader view on how people perceived the monsters
and their views on them.
Target Audience: 200 words approx.
My audience would most likely consist of horror fans but also a 12-18 demographic due to the
nature and some violence, horror, gore, and possibly some sexual/ drug scenes within the movie.
Its gender target will just be unisex as it will consist of male and female casts and has no one
gender it aims to reach for. I believe the average watcher would most likely be working class –
lower middle class as it feels they may have a bigger draw to the cinema and family time based
around watching a movie. I think a person who has interests in other movies genres such as
slashers, comedy’s, fantasy, and gothic settings etc is a good target audience for my movie along
with people who have an interest in visual effects due to the gory and violent nature of some of the
scenes. People with an interest in fantasy and myths will also gravitate towards it due to the
inclusion of vampires, curses, secret passageways, and witches along with other fantasy/myth
creatures and other inclusions. It may also appeal to those who haven’t had the best or healthiest
relationship with their family as there is a side plot for this due to “apollo” (the vampire) coming
back home and not fully having the trust of the rest of the family until later due to him giving them a
reason to and him showing he means no harm to them.
