Horror films often deal with the viewer's nightmares, hidden fears and terror of the unknown.
Story lines in the horror genre often involve the intrusion of an evil force, event, or personage,
commonly of supernatural origin, into the everyday world, they center on the dark side of life,
the forbidden, and strange and alarming events which helps attract a large audience.
The main characters in a horror film are:
- Smart person who knows what happening
- Brave guy with his girlfriend
- Weak venerable girl
- The threat( ghost, alien, possessed person, ect)
- The scared family
Depending on the story line the cast varies but they are the main people in the story lines of any
horror film .
3. Plot Ideas
You cant hide
A group of unpopular friends have a sleepover while
the parents are out, During the sleepover they watch
a horror film and see someone doing a Ouija board
and decide to do one themselves, but instead of it
being fake they unleash an evil sprit which seeks to
kill them. One by one they all die in horrible ways
until one is left, she hides in her parents wardrobe
until she hears footsteps, confused she opens the
door a tiny bit to see her friends stood there dead,
she sits in the wardrobe quite, hoping they don’t hear
her heavy breathing but she hears footsteps coming
closer and closer the doors begin the open she runs
out and goes downstairs and tries to unlock the door
but the keys in another room, she sees the girls walk
down the stairs as the get closer she shuts her eyes
and tries the door again but they grab her and take
her into the kitchen and kill her.
Unseen
A couple go and visit the most haunted
buildings around the world and help owners
see whether or not its actually haunted or if
its just common noises in buildings, but then
they get a call asking if they'd check out an
old asylum upon their arrival they get
strange encounters with spirits and end up
running for their life's to try find a way out
of the building each room they go into has
an evil spirit which messes with their heads
and some even hurt them.
They record the whole thing hoping to
convince people that ghost are real, but the
tape never makes it out the asylum as they
both die in tragic ways

5. Location
You can't hide
- Location for this could be somewhere in a
common neighborhood or somewhere a bit
quite were only a few big houses are on the
street this would give it more of a realist feel
to the story.
Unseen
- Location for this would have to
be in abandoned big building
which we could pass off as an
asylum to make it more
believable.
6. Typical Direction
Horror film trailers don’t normally contain too much information it normally has a close ups on
peoples faces showing their emotion which is typically scared or shocked. Also, the lighting is very
low key to help build suspense and help demonstrate theirs an evil presents around. In the
trailers the editing contains lots jump cuts to help build suspense, the sound for the trailers tend
to be very eerie to keep people intrigued.
Therefore, they're the features ill include in my trailer to help make sure its scarybut doesn't give
too much away yet builds suspense.
7. What will I need?
In order to create a successful horror film trailer Ill need to;
- Find a suitable location to make it look realist
- A mac computer to edit the scenes together to make the trailer
- A good camera to film it on, needs to be good quality footage
- Tripod to help keep shots straight not allover the place
- A cast who can act and wont be shy
- Torches for the dark scenes to help make it realistic
- A piano and sound creating software to make sound effects
- Props that fit with the storyline
