Urban Scenarios
If you plan on moving to Cleveland, Ohio, then you are in for a treat if you prepare right. Relocating
from the suburbs will afford you greater access to a wide range of cultural and entertainment
opportunities. While the metropolitan area boasts more than two million residents, the city itself is
home to more than 380,000 residents.
Expect a Transition Period
While moving to the city can be exciting, the change is likely going to cause disruption in your daily
routine and general comfort levels. Although you might want to run back to the 'burbs to get away
from the new sensory stimuli, don't hit the road just yet. Becoming accustomed to a new home city
will take at least a year. Until then, cut yourself some slack.
Make a list of the reasons ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even in the snowy winter, residents hit the sidewalks in droves each day. The rail transit system,
referred to by locals as The Rapid, provides speedy transport throughout the city, as does the bus
line. Of course, if you want to stick with your car, there are plenty of roads and freeways for you to
use!
Prepare for Cultural Diversity
One of the great things about moving to a city like Cleveland is the diverse population that lives
there. With more than ten percent of the population speaking a language other than English as their
first language, this means you will have plenty of opportunities to get to know about other cultures.
In fact, this contributes to the amazing eateries that are found throughout Cleveland.
While moving to the city after being in the suburbs can be a shock to your system, the city itself
provides a wealth of opportunities not available elsewhere. Give yourself time to adjust and
remember the reasons you moved in the first place. With proper planning, you will be on the path
toward happiness in your new

John D. Rockefeller And Commodore Vanderbilt Essay
PHL 4100–07 Final Exam
John D. Rockefeller and Commodore Vanderbilt were both powerful businessmen of their time.
They both dominated the markets that they were in, and they brought innovation and efficiency to
their trades. Both entrepreneurs used hard work to break into their markets and become some of the
most successful businessmen of history. These men both made such a large impact on their
industries, without their contribution those industries would not be what they are today.
John D. Rockefeller dominated the oil industry and was an entrepreneurial powerhouse. He was a
hardworking man with good morals. Rockefeller was known for being an honest business man, and
stressed on the importance of honesty in business. He also was a family man and a strong Christian.
He believed that he should put his faith first, family second, and career third. This made him have an
ethical business man. Rockefeller had a business partners throughout his career. Samuel Adams was
his partner when they entered northwestern Pennsylvania and did what many thought could not be
done and drilled into an area that no one thought they would succeed. They started the trend of the
use of kerosene in America. They also reduced the amount of waste that occurred in the oil
production.
Efficiency was very important to the partners, they worked on producing more with less in the
refining process. They reduced the amount of waste, while increasing the byproducts of oil. By the
end of their research they

The World's First Billionaire John D Rockefeller
The world's first billionaire John D Rockefeller was born July 8, 1839 in Richford New York. He
began his career when he built his first oil refinery near Cleveland Ohio and 1870 incorporated the
standard oil company. By the year 1822 he had monopolized the oil industry. John Davidson
Rockefeller was the second born of the six Rockefeller children born to William and Eliza
Rockefeller. William was a traveling salesman who claimed to have the ability to cure patients with
cancer and charged up to $25 per treatment, while Eliza, a devout Christian, raised their six children
at home. His mother taught strict discipline and the need to save what you earn and donate to charity
every chance you can, which left a lasting impact on John. His father also played a major role in
Rockefeller's success by teaching young Rockefeller the tricks to the trade of a traveling salesman.
Even as a child it was said that John would hustle the neighborhood by raising turkeys, selling
candies, and doing odd jobs around his home. Though the Rockefeller men were not always known
for their honesty, they were known as some of the best salesmen around. John D Rockefeller once
said "It is a good thing to let my money be the servant and not make myself slave to the money."
John Rockefeller began his education in 1852 at Owego Academy in Owego, New York, where his
family relocated to in 1851. Rockefeller excelled in mental arithmetic. He was able to solve

David Petrus always told his family that there are 3 things that will guarantee happiness in life;
Faith, family, and Cleveland sports. Hall of famers and future hall of famers are bound to come from

on the why Cleveland sports are the way they are today. Many sports cities cultural backgrounds
revolve around their sports team but Cleveland is the best sports city because of the money the city
generates, the love of the fans, and the history of cleveland sports.
One reason why Cleveland, Ohio is the best sports city is because of the amount of money the city

A Research Study On Cleveland Clinic
Cleveland Clinic was founded in 1921; the idea behind the clinic was to have physicians form a
group and provide health services; each member of the group brings a specialty to the group which
would be shared by the group. The idea to have shared facility was based on the fact that, no single
individual is subject matter expert in every field and to provide an efficient and accurate health
services, physicians need to have a group of medical experts who will not only provide services but
will also share learning in field of academics and research. The idea was to foster an environment
that will encourage physicians for innovation in medical field through academics and research.
In terms of diversity of work force, the work force is highly diversified; doctors, surgeons and
specialist around the world are employed at Cleveland clinic, this helps the hospital to cater to the
needs of foreign patients usually celebrities. These celebrities patients brings in huge revenue with
them, and the other fact about the hospital is that it's a non–profit organization; means all the
revenue from the hospitals activities is re–invested in research and to make hospital more effective .
Cleveland clinic takes not federal grant and still manages to be a nonprofit organization.
In current times Cleveland clinic not only provides services to local community, to national
community, but also to international community. Patients all over the world come to Cleveland
clinic for treatment. Cleveland

The media bashes Cleveland for this everyone knows it. MGK attempts portrays the status of
Cleveland through his album cover of General Admission. Even in the overall negative tone the
media puts on the city, MGK expresses the value of the city by portraying the buildings in gold. He
sees through the bad parts of the city and acknowledges its potential worth. The city, painted in gold,
sits on small chunks of land that holds it up, seeming like it could fall any minute. This shows the
cities roots makes everything unstable. Although there are no experts on Cleveland's history or its
roots in the room. We must take into account MGK's credibility of growing up on the streets and
understanding the city from his point of view tells us a lot. He wants Cleveland it be a great city, a
city where everyone wants to take a vacation to. Additionally, MGK also shows how the profitable
and the rich, in their ivory gold towers are far from the ugly gray ground and are surrounded by
gold. This leaves the rich unaffected by the drab environment they are not exposed to, therefore they

Grover Cleveland Research Paper
Grover Cleveland was the 22nd and 24th president of the United States. He is most famous for
becoming president on two non–consecutive terms. He is also known for being the first president to
be officially married in the white house. Grover Cleveland had a very active life before presidency
and less of an active one after.
Stephen Grover Cleveland became a part of this world in Caldwell, also known as Horse neck, New
Jersey, March 18th, 1837. Cleveland was the fifth child out of nine (Grover, n.d). Grover Cleveland
was the 3rd son to Reverend Richard Falley Cleveland and Ann Neal, a native of Baltimore, Andrew

Democrats nominated Mr. Cleveland in 1885. The citizens gave Cleveland a torchlight parade in
Chicago honoring Cleveland's nomination (Adams, n.d.). Cleveland was victorious at the election
with the support of his fellow Democrats and reform Republicans, also known as the "Mugwumps,"
whom disliked James G. Blaine of Maine, Grover Cleveland's opponent (Grover, 2015). Mr.
Cleveland had won the election with 219 electoral votes, while Mr. Blaine had only received 182
electoral votes. March 4, 1885, Stephen Grover Cleveland officially became President of the United
States (Adams, n.d.). Cleveland was known as the bachelor, but that had changed by June 1886.
During this year Mr. Clevelend was wed to 21–year–old Frances Folsom; he has been the only
President married in the White House (Grover, 2015). While in Clevelands first term he vetoed an
abundant amount of private pension bills towards the Civil War veterans, whose claims were
obtained. When Congress, pressured by the Grand Army of the Republic, passed a bill granting the
pensions for disabilities not caused by military service, Grover Cleveland Vetoed it as well (Grover,
2015). Grover Cleveland had later angered the railroads by constructing an investigation of western
lands they held by Government grant. Cleveland forced the railroads to return 81,000,000 acres of
land back to the Government and also signed the Interstate Commerce Act, the first law to attempt
Federal regulation of the railroads (Grover, 2015). December 1887, Grover Cleveland called upon
Congress to reduce the high protective tariffs. Spoken that he had given Republicans and issue for
the compaign of 1888, Mr. Cleveland retorted, "What is the use of being elect or re–elected unless
you stand for something?" (Grover, 2015). By the end of Cleveland's first term, he had been

Media Day At The Cleveland Cavaliers
The Cleveland Cavaliers had an entire summer to dwell on their crushing loss to the Golden State
Warriors in the 2015 NBA Finals.
"I think last year is last year, and this year is this year," Cavs head coach David Blatt said at the
team's media day on Monday. "We do have high expectations. Our goals are clear and are stated, but
not guaranteed.
"It's important for all of us to not overstate, but to overachieve."
Blatt admitted he borrowed that last quote from Cavs general manager David Griffin, who never
fails to reiterate the organization's ultimate goal – Bring a championship to the title–starved city of
Cleveland.
The elephant in the room can't go unnoticed. The Cavs haven't won an NBA title since the franchise
came into existence, and the last time any professional team from Cleveland captured a
championship was more than 50 years ago. Media day 2015 was simply the first event of what

The American Dream Persuasive Speech
The American Dream: it is an ideal and a concept that has captured the minds of countless
generations since the founding of this nation. However, this concept hasn't always had a name, in
fact, historian Jim Cullen is of the belief that the term was not coined until 1931, when James T.
Adams wrote a book on the history of the United States which he originally entitled "The American
Dream." The title did not pass publishers due to the thinking that no one would purchase a book
about one man's dream of the nation (Gay and Deibel). Although the term was coined eighty–four
years ago, the concept has a much deeper and older meaning. In fact, the idea may be found in the
lives of the Mayflower Settlers, who came to this land seeking to practice their ... Show more

In the words of Jacob Needleman, "America has betrayed the dream many, many times, but come
back to the ideal, it's still alive and it's struggling. People want it, but they don't know what to think
about it" (Gay and Deibel). Needleman's statement is exactly on point. The American Dream is built
on our common roots and moral values that built this nation and strengthened our early leaders, and
enabled the likes of John D. Rockefeller to succeed. Rockefeller was an example of this idea of the
American Dream in that he improved his life despite his upbringing, he improved his life through
his business and the love of his family, he improved the lives of others through his charity work, and
he achieved great things through the innovations and works that were done in the oil industry. But
even through this, the words and works of those who did the opposite of what he did muddied his
reputation and allowed for the formation of revisionist history that has hindered that thing which we
call the American Dream. And it is because of "small" things like this, we as Americans have lost
sight of the American Dream. It is no longer attainable, because we have lost our common roots, our
moral values, and more importantly our sight of God. All of these things built this nation, our
people, and it constructed that idea we call The American

Cleveland Clinic : A Non Profit Academic Medical Center
Cleveland Clinic is a non–profit academic medical center, founded in 1921, and located in
Cleveland, Ohio. It employs over 42,000 staff members throughout their various national and
international campuses (US, CANADA and the United Arab Emirates). It is regarded as the fourth
best hospital in the United States according to US News & World Report and was even recognized
by president Barak Obama in 2012 as "one of the best health care systems in the world and a model
to follow in the delivery of care".
In March 2008 the results of the federal Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and
Systems (HCAHPS) prompted senior leadership and managers to take a closer look at the clinics
initiatives aimed at patient satisfaction. While Cleveland Clinic was recognized nationally and
internationally for their healthcare excellence, their patient satisfaction scores were below the
national average. This encouraged President and CEO Delos Cosgrove, M.D., Senior Director,
Employee Relations Jill Patterson, and Chief Human Resources Officer Joe Patrnchak to revise and
review the clinic's Human Resources strategy in order to better engage the organizations employees
and at the same time improve the patient satisfaction scores. This was no small task; with over
40,000 employees, the leadership team needed to come up with a new "people strategy" (or HR
strategy) that would promote a more solid organizational culture that would lead to higher employee
morale and engagement. This was

The Cleveland Clinic
Providing World Class Care in a Changing Marketplace
"The Cleveland Clinic Foundation is a non–profit, multi–specialty medical organization, providing
clinical and hospital care services. It operates through a network of hospitals and clinics. It
integrates its services with research and educational institutes. The Cleveland Clinic's network of
facilities includes regional hospitals; regional care centers; a children's hospital; a research labs and
facilities for pathology and cancer, eye, heart, and Urologic care." (Gupta) This health system was
founded as a single hospital practice in 1921 by four physicians and has flourished into a global
healthcare system. These four physicians envisioned a practice where the members would share
expertise and specialization to create a complete comprehensive patient experience.
The hospital began with "a staff of six surgeons, one radiologist, four internists, and one
biophysicist." (Cleveland clinic.org) The system currently employs 3,584 physicians, 11,862 nurses,
and 51,487 employees system wide and serves 7.14 million patients annually. To produce the
desired innovations in practice the founders envisioned, the Learner research center and the college
of medicine were created. The founders dedicated themselves to "the education of future medical
practitioners, and where innovations in medical procedures and practices would be encouraged
through basic and applied research activities." (clevelandclinic.org) From the first coronary
angiography done in 1958, to the development of coronary bypass surgery in 1967, to the first
larynx transplant in 1998, to the first transcatheter valve replacement in 2011, the research and
innovations have carried the Cleveland Clinic into the upper echelon of medicine, bringing people
from around the globe to receive the world class care afforded by the Cleveland Clinic. Planning for
the future of the Cleveland Clinic has been the responsibility of DR. Delos "Toby" Cosgrove III.
Under his leadership the Cleveland Clinic has grown exponentially. Never one to rest on laurels, he

matters worse, currency was being inflated by the coining of more silver. Once again, Cleveland had

My Personal Experience : My Experience In South Africa
It's not a topic that my parents like to discuss with me very often, but I think it's important for them
to tell me about their experiences in South Africa. Of course here in the putrid city of Cleveland, it's
not the same, but it's better than what I know about South Africa. Now that I'm on that topic, I might
as well just tell you about it. My parents told me that in South Africa, you were never sure if there
would ever be a "tomorrow." There was always the constant threat of being hurt for your food or
belongings. So that's why they brought me to Cleveland before birth.
I grew up in Cleveland, going to all the local schools. It was hard for me and my family to
communicate with others because we had to adapt from our original language Afrikaans to English.
I eventually learned most of what I needed to speak fluently around the age of 8. At 25, after
graduating from Ohio State University, I applied my gardening and baking skills to open up a local
garden shop where I can help people and teach them how to plant different things properly.
Kim walked into my shop, I asked her what she was looking to plant. "Pumpkins," she said. "I want
to grow my own pumpkins for my family to carve."
I took her into my back room and gave her a quick tutorial on how to maintain her pumpkins
correctly.
"Kim, you understand that you must take care of these pumpkins the right way or else your
pumpkins won't grow! You and Royce both want to grow pumpkins, so why don't you guys team
up?" Royce

Rockefeller's life before business shaped him into the businessman he became. John D. Rockefeller

move around the country. He first lived in multiple locations in New York, and finally ended up in
Ohio where his life would change forever. At the age of 24, Rockefeller and his neighbor Maurice

Rockefeller and Clark started Standard Oil in Cleveland, Ohio, and by 1872, the two men had

The initial success of this effort prompted Cleveland Clinic to identify additional operational drivers
that had an impact on financial performance, and by 1995, the organization was tracking up to 20
operational indicators via a monthly "performance wheel" report, which was distributed to
executives in over 150 departments. By graphically representing all indicators on a single page, the

Standing at 1049 feet (320m) high, it may not be the largest mountain in the country, although many
people revere it as the 'Yorkshire Matterhorn' due to its distinctive profile. Furthermore, Alan
Hinkes, the first British mountaineer to climb all fourteen of the world's highest mountains, says it's
his favourite hill – and he knows a thing or two about dramatic peaks! The unique shape was the
result of a rock fall in 1912 when heavy rain weakened old mine workings and caused the west face
to collapse. Apparently the hill derives its name from 'Outhenesberg', old Norse for 'Odin's rock or
crag', over time the name became corrupted to 'Ouseberry'. The final change occurred, so they say
by the addition of the initial 'R' from the former village name Newton–under–Ouseberry, by
alliteration of the 'r' in 'under'. The second element, Topping, comes from the old Norse word

Cleveland Cavaliers
Everyone will form their own opinion when it comes to the ground–breaking decision to fire David
Blatt as the head coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers. It wasn't necessarily a terrible decision by any
means, but it was quite odd. To fire a head coach, who had coached a team to a 30–11 record and
had them on top of the conference almost sounds comical. But, something needed to change, and
unfortunately GM David Griffin decided to start with Blatt.
Instantly, rumors began to circulate that Cavs' star LeBron James was in some way involved with
the decision to relieve Blatt of his coaching duties. We can all make out assumptions, but in reality
only they know what really occurred. Regardless, it's in the rear–view and Cleveland has moved on

Which could have been a combination of Blatt not being able to lead this team, and also the team
simply not knowing how to play together. When you watch, and I mean really watch teams like the
Golden State Warriors and San Antonio Spurs what do they do better than Cleveland? Pace and
ball–movement. That's what needs to be the main focus for this team –– place emphasis on pace and
move the ball around, which will create better shot opportunities.
There is nothing wrong with this team. I mean they're still 33–12 and still maintain the best record in
the Eastern Conference. Since dropping the first game under Lue, the past three games there has
already been some noticeable adjustments made. The Cavaliers will be scrutinized for every little
thing, it's what comes with having a, "big three." Especially, when you have James.
It will be important for Cleveland to jump on their opponents early in the game and gain a
respectable lead. Then, they won't be playing catch up so often and can then play some, "freestyle,"
ball and get to know each other while simultaneously gaining more chemistry. For the second half of
the season, the mission for Cleveland will be to work on getting that bulls–eye off their back, and
getting back to enjoying playing the game without all of the

In my essay I was capable of demonstrating that based on his determination to bring the first
championship to his hometown in 52 years, LeBron was able to pull off a miraculous play when the
game was on the line. In order to accurately justify my position, I integrated LeBron James' own
reaction to winning the series by using, "When it was over––and it was clear that Cleveland had
really won––James collapsed on the court and openly wept." Numerous writers might view this
quote as not being supportive enough to prove a point, but I found that the words "wept" really gave
insight to just how meaningful winning this game was to LeBron. It supports how LeBron used all
of his passion and effort into block Andre Iguodala's layup to save the game for his team. This is
shown in my explanation for this quote where I assessed that this game was very emotionally
important to LeBron and he was willing to do anything in order to win the game. This idea of

John D Rockeffeller
What makes John D. Rockefeller an effective leader?
In his decades of business, one of the key characteristics that propelled Rockefeller to success was
his strong leadership abilities. It wasn 't his status, nor his age that made Rockefeller a great leader.
Instead, it was his influence. People around him wanted to follow him; they were inspired by him to
do more than they ever thought they were capable of. It was his ability to create a strong sense of
teamwork and his own energy and passion that drove his workers and thus his company.
We can say he was a leader according to the leadership framework: Be, Know, Do:

In the fight against independents pipelines, armed men defended land bought by Rockefeller on the
planned way of the pipelines.
What type of leadership did he use?
It appears that, to lead his company, Rockefeller used one type of leadership to lead the workers
inside the company and for the commercial practices. In both case, it was an autocratic and directive
style of leadership. Even if Rockefeller seemed very close to his employees and knew how to
motivate and reward them, he did not trust them at all. He saw his relationship with them as
transactional, one of competing needs. However, he rarely made important decisions without
seeking debate and achieving a common mind among his key associates, foreshadowing the
"consensus–management"
For his commercial practices, he used too an autocratic leadership. His most flagrant sin was the
ruthlessness with which he crushed competitors. For every competitor who became to be dangerous
for his business, Rockefeller used all the above practices to reduce them to nothing, or he extended
the olive branch to vanquished rivals, buying out their companies and drawing them into his
organization, making at least some of them richer than they could have been on their own. This was
not generosity but the mechanism whereby he expanded Standard Oil into a monopoly.
The Rockefeller 's underlying characteristics that helped him to raise the top:

Is Grover Cleveland A Hero, Villain, Or Lame Duck?
Grover Cleveland, the only president to serve two nonconsecutive terms, was responsible from a
young age. He went through great commitment to become president of the United States. His early
life, rise to power, and presidency's affected the United States that we know today. Yet the real
question is, is Grover Cleveland a hero, villain, or lame duck?
Grover Cleveland was born on March 18, 1837, the fifth of nine children. He was born in New
Jersey but moved to New York four years later. Cleveland's father died when he was just a teenager.
This is when he had to leave school to help his family have a steady income. But he couldn't afford a
college education at the time, so instead he worked for a teacher for the blind, and eventually a clerk
at a law firm. Suddenly things started to look up for Cleveland. He became a lawyer, and was known
for his remarkable concentration. Cleveland decided he wanted to become a political figure. His first
job in the political government was a Sheriff in Erie county, New York. In 1881 Cleveland was
convinced to run for the mayor of Buffalo, a city in New York. He ran as a reformer, he wanted to
change and improve the government. Grovers reputation grew fast and he was asked to run for
governor of New York as the democratic candidate. He won the election and became governor.

Entrepreneurship : A Worldwide Economic Driver Essay
As a worldwide economic driver, entrepreneurship adds real value through the creation of new jobs
and the production of innovative products and services. In today 's business environment, the
concept of entrepreneurship has gained immense importance as the entrepreneurs have
revolutionized the way businesses carry on their operations to compete effectively. Entrepreneurs
are individuals who are willing to risk everything in order to create innovative products or services
that will fulfil the many needs of the people. In summary, entrepreneurship promotes the generation
of money and wealth through the creation of products, services and/or startup companies. One good
entrepreneur from the nineteenth century and the twentieth century, and considered the wealthiest
American who ever lived, was John D. Rockefeller. Rockefeller founded Standard Oil Company,
Inc. in 1870. The company grew so much that at his peak, he controlled 90 percent of oil. His
company was at the heart of the American petroleum revolution and its industry dominance led to
the creation of anti–trust legislation and fair competition laws. This research paper will cover the
startup, success, and birth and growth of John Rockefeller's company.
John D. Rockefeller first started saving money when he was a 12–year–old. He had saved 50 dollars
from working for his neighbors and raising some animals for his mother. He then loaned his 50

By establishing these set shipping rates with the railroad companies, it not only made it impossible
for his competitors to stay in business, but it also allowed Rockefeller to establish a strong
relationship with a key method of transportation for shipping products (Biography). By establishing
a strong relationship with the railroad companies, Rockefeller was able to use his successful
business practice to "control over 90 percent of the nation's oil–refining industry by 1880" (The
New Tycoons). As time continued on and his business became more successful, he also applied
another clever business strategy known as vertical integration. This process consisted of a company
purchasing and controlling each and every step of one's industry production process. Rockefeller's
company used this process very efficiently as they "became known to manipulate crude oil prices to
drive refineries to bankruptcy, allowing him to buy them cheaply" (Epstein). By controlling each
production step, he was able to minimize costs by removing any companies from the middle that
were previously completing steps on the way to the finish product. Rockefeller was also known to
manipulate prices of crude oil in order to drive his competing refineries into bankruptcy which
allowed him to buy them cheaply (Epstein). However, his economic beliefs and ideas were not the
only strategies which John Rockefeller used to elevate his business and personal profile to a national

The Industrial Leaders of the 19th Century Should be Admired for their Work
The industrial leaders, Robber Barons, of the 19th century are men who are very respected and
admired. Andrew Carnegie was a boy from Scotland who came over to this country with nothing.
He continued to save and work his way up in the industry until he had complete control over the
steel industry. John D. Rockefeller was also one who came from an ordinary home. When he saw an
opportunity, he took it, along with the risks. He came to control the oil industry. Another man that

He sold the company to J. P. Morgan, for which he personally received $250 million of the $492
million Morgan paid for it. He supported and began many corporations and institutions. Many
positive establishments were created only because of his generous donations. To this day many
people are still benefiting from the large Carnegie fortune. Cornelius Vanderbilt was the most
powerful railroad baron. He earned a fortune for himself in the steamship line. He also combined the
New York and Harlem and New York and Hudson estate ferry boat operations. He established a
connection between New York and Albany to make Lake Shore and Michigan Southern link Buffalo
with Chicago. When he died he owned and operated nearly 4500 miles of track between New York
City and most of the important cities in the Midwest. He left his fortune to his son, unlike the others
he did not donate to many organizations. The only contribution he gave was to support the, now,
Vanderbilt College.
John D. Rockefeller also started at humble beginnings. By taking risks and investing he found
himself engulfed in the rapidly expanding oil industry. Not yet in the business directly he started his
own company, The Standard Oil Company of Cleveland. Rockefeller's stake in the oil industry
increased as the industry itself expanded caused by the rapidly spreading use of kerosene. The

He made most of his money as a travelling salesman. Bill also had the reputation for being shady.

The Annunciation (Cleveland Museum Of Art, Cleveland
Formal Analysis of The Annuciation
The painting The Annunciation (Cleveland Museum of Art, Cleveland) was made in Netherlands, or
possibly France, in the 1380s, using tempera and oil with gold on wood panel. A vertical
composition of about 31.43 × 40.32 cm, the sacred iconography depicts the biblical scene of the
Archangel Gabriel, sent by God, announcing to the Virgin that she would soon give birth to Christ.
The artist, who was commissioned to draw this piece, is unknown. The patron probably
commissioned the artwork for devotional use. It might be part of a narrative polyptych, conveying
the biblical story of Christ, expressing the divinity of God and Christianity.
In the foreground, the two main figures of the scene, the Virgin and the Archangel, are markedly
painted larger than the figures in the background, and thus, they become the attractive focus of the

However, she holds her hands in front of her breast, eyes gazing at God's message brought by the

Virgin's serene facial expression contradicts her behavior, perhaps because the message not only
tells her the incarnation of Christ but also foreshadows his doomed death. Therefore, the whole

Inequality In Cleveland

Cleveland: The African American Experience
Historical Racial Discrimination and Social Inequality in Cleveland Schools
Cleveland in the 1800s was a time of integration and equality. African Americans living in the city
received excellence treatment and thrived alongside the white citizens. During the 1840s both black
and white children attended the same public schools, where they received the same quality of
education. This was unique for a city at this time and the same could not be said for many other
comparable cities in the United States. Because an integrationist lifestyle thrived in Cleveland,
African Americans were allowed to work unskilled, semi–skilled, and skilled jobs with little to no

Free, southern blacks and other minority groups made their way up north in order to fill the
employment gaps left by the start of World War 1. Pamphlets and fliers were sent to the southern
states promising African Americans, many of whom still worked on the plantations of their previous
owners, well–paying jobs. What many did not realize, is that, despite the opportunity and hope being
offered, Cleveland was a hotbed of racism and discrimination at this point, and would only worsen
with the arrival of uneducated and unskilled minorities. (Stapleton, 17 July 1997, para. 3–5) Many
of the arriving African American Clevelanders resided in apartments in the city that were close to
their jobs. Many, if not most, of the white Clevelanders made their way out of the city in what
became known as the start of suburbanization. Here, they owned their own homes and automobiles
that allowed them to commute to work in the city. With the increase in population, an increase in
housing was needed, and fast. Unfortunately, this was something that would not happen in time.
Before they knew it, African American Clevelanders were living in overcrowded, overrun locations
of low socioeconomic standing with seemingly nowhere to go. There were some that could who
tried to move into the suburbs, but the white residents would not allow it. Harassment of the new
African American neighbors and sometimes even violence broke out until the family was forced to
leave. Even immigrant groups who had long since shared residence with African American
Clevelanders were starting to become bitter and unwilling to allow the new southern immigrants a
place to stay. With this overcrowding and under–housing situation came a decrease in property value
and thus less tax money to be dispersed. Public schools relied on property taxes for funding.
Because of this, city schools, now largely segregated, started to

The Cleveland Elementary School Shooting
The Cleveland Elementary School Shooting, 1989 Some refer to it as The Slaughter in a School

as horrifying as someone shooting down innocent children playing at recesses on school grounds
was never expected here in the United States of America. Although there was past cases of school
shootings, this was the first shooting to be televised on national television of its magnitude (Taining,

This particular incident unfortunately was not the slaughter of people, but it was children. It
happened around 11:40 AM on January 17th, 1989 in Stockton, California. A man by the name of
Patrick Edward Purdy opened fire on children ages six through nine playing at recess on school
grounds of Cleveland Elementary School. This tragic case brought questions to people everywhere
in our nation as to why it was so easy for a mentally unstable individual such as Patrick Purdy to

Brutality In Cleveland
Currently, as I envision my community I see cooperation, peace, and unity. As you may know,
Cleveland recently had a tragic incident with a young youth, Tamir Rice. I lived around the block
from Tamir and also attended elementary school with him for a year at Marion C. Seltzer. It was a
heart breaking time for my community when we heard of his death through Police Brutality.
However this incident brought the community together. Unfortunately, Police Brutality is a very
common issue around Cleveland and many other cities who experience rough financial obstacles.
However, in my particular part of Cleveland, we are working together to bring a stop to this
challenge.
One thing that I am currently doing to help my community is working alongside

Relocating from the suburbs will afford you greater access to a wide range of cultural and entertainment opportunities. While the metropolitan area boasts more than two million residents, the city itself is home to more than 380,000 residents. Expect a Transition Period While moving to the city can be exciting, the change is likely going to cause disruption in your daily routine and general comfort levels. With more than ten percent of the population speaking a language other than English as their first language, this means you will have plenty of opportunities to get to know about other cultures. In fact, this contributes to the amazing eateries that are found throughout Cleveland. Give yourself time to adjust and remember the reasons you moved in the first place. With proper planning, you will be on the path toward happiness in your new ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

His mother taught strict discipline and the need to save what you earn and donate to charity every chance you can, which left a lasting impact on John. His father also played a major role in Rockefeller's success by teaching young Rockefeller the tricks to the trade of a traveling salesman. Even as a child it was said that John would hustle the neighborhood by raising turkeys, selling candies, and doing odd jobs around his home. Though the Rockefeller men were not always known for their honesty, they were known as some of the best salesmen around. This shows the cities roots makes everything unstable. Although there are no experts on Cleveland's history or its roots in the room. "I think last year is last year, and this year is this year," Cavs head coach David Blatt said at the team's media day on Monday. "We do have high expectations. Our goals are clear and are stated, but not guaranteed. "It's important for all of us to not overstate, but to overachieve." Blatt admitted he borrowed that last quote from Cavs general manager David Griffin, who never fails to reiterate the organization's ultimate goal – Bring a championship to the title–starved city of Cleveland. The elephant in the room can't go unnoticed. The Cavs haven't won an NBA title since the franchise came into existence, and the last time any professional team from Cleveland captured a championship was more than 50 years ago. However, this concept hasn't always had a name, in fact, historian Jim Cullen is of the belief that the term was not coined until 1931, when James T. Adams wrote a book on the history of the United States which he originally entitled "The American Dream." The title did not pass publishers due to the thinking that no one would purchase a book about one man's dream of the nation (Gay and Deibel). In the words of Jacob Needleman, "America has betrayed the dream many, many times, but come back to the ideal, it's still alive and it's struggling. People want it, but they don't know what to think about it" (Gay and Deibel). Needleman's statement is exactly on point. The American Dream is built on our common roots and moral values that built this nation and strengthened our early leaders, and enabled the likes of John D. Rockefeller to succeed. Rockefeller was an example of this idea of the American Dream in that he improved his life despite his upbringing, he improved his life through his business and the love of his family, he improved the lives of others through his charity work, and he achieved great things through the innovations and works that were done in the oil industry. But even through this, the words and works of those who did the opposite of what he did muddied his reputation and allowed for the formation of revisionist history that has hindered that thing which we call the American Dream. And it is because of "small" things like this, we as Americans have lost sight of the American Dream. It is no longer attainable, because we have lost our common roots, our moral values, and more importantly our sight of God. All of these things built this nation, our people, and it constructed that idea we call The American ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It employs over 42,000 staff members throughout their various national and international campuses (US, CANADA and the United Arab Emirates). It is regarded as the fourth best hospital in the United States according to US News & World Report and was even recognized by president Barak Obama in 2012 as "one of the best health care systems in the world and a model to follow in the delivery of care". In March 2008 the results of the federal Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) prompted senior leadership and managers to take a closer look at the clinics initiatives aimed at patient satisfaction. While Cleveland Clinic was recognized nationally and internationally for their healthcare excellence, their patient satisfaction scores were below the national average. This encouraged President and CEO Delos Cosgrove, M.D., Senior Director, Employee Relations Jill Patterson, and Chief Human Resources Officer Joe Patrnchak to revise and review the clinic's Human Resources strategy in order to better engage the organizations employees and at the same time improve the patient satisfaction scores. This was no small task; with over 40,000 employees, the leadership team needed to come up with a new "people strategy" (or HR strategy) that would promote a more solid organizational culture that would lead to higher employee morale and engagement. The hospital began with "a staff of six surgeons, one radiologist, four internists, and one biophysicist." (Cleveland clinic.org) The system currently employs 3,584 physicians, 11,862 nurses, and 51,487 employees system wide and serves 7.14 million patients annually. To produce the desired innovations in practice the founders envisioned, the Learner research center and the college of medicine were created. The founders dedicated themselves to "the education of future medical practitioners, and where innovations in medical procedures and practices would be encouraged through basic and applied research activities." It contained railroad bankruptcies, bank failures, a nationwide credit crisis, and a stock market crash. Unemployment rose to nineteen percent, and strikes crippled the mining and transportation industries. To make matters worse, currency was being inflated by the coining of more silver. Once again, Cleveland had to defend the gold standard. Cleveland believed that hardship built character, and refused to assist any special group, refusing to give $10,000 to drought–striking Texan farmers. This economic depression would last until the Klondike Gold Rush years later. Another problem he had to deal with was the Pullman Strike. 150,000 railroad workers went on strike to protest against low wages and long hours. Because the railroads were very important at the time, this strike crippled transportation and communication. It ended with federal troops being sent in to over 20 railroad centers, crushing the revolt and arresting the leaders. Of course here in the putrid city of Cleveland, it's not the same, but it's better than what I know about South Africa. Now that I'm on that topic, I might as well just tell you about it. My parents told me that in South Africa, you were never sure if there would ever be a "tomorrow." There was always the constant threat of being hurt for your food or belongings. So that's why they brought me to Cleveland before birth. I grew up in Cleveland, going to all the local schools. It was hard for me and my family to communicate with others because we had to adapt from our original language Afrikaans to English. I eventually learned most of what I needed to speak fluently around the age of 8. At 25, after graduating from Ohio State University, I applied my gardening and baking skills to open up a local garden shop where I can help people and teach them how to plant different things properly. Kim walked into my shop, I asked her what she was looking to plant. "Pumpkins," she said. "I want to grow my own pumpkins for my family to carve." I took her into my back room and gave her a quick tutorial on how to maintain her pumpkins correctly. "Kim, you understand that you must take care of these pumpkins the right way or else your pumpkins won't grow! You and Royce both want to grow pumpkins, so why don't you guys team up?" Royce ... The unique shape was the result of a rock fall in 1912 when heavy rain weakened old mine workings and caused the west face to collapse. Apparently the hill derives its name from 'Outhenesberg', old Norse for 'Odin's rock or crag', over time the name became corrupted to 'Ouseberry'. The final change occurred, so they say by the addition of the initial 'R' from the former village name Newton–under–Ouseberry, by alliteration of the 'r' in 'under'. In both case, it was an autocratic and directive style of leadership. Even if Rockefeller seemed very close to his employees and knew how to motivate and reward them, he did not trust them at all. He saw his relationship with them as transactional, one of competing needs. However, he rarely made important decisions without seeking debate and achieving a common mind among his key associates, foreshadowing the "consensus–management" For his commercial practices, he used too an autocratic leadership. His most flagrant sin was the ruthlessness with which he crushed competitors. For every competitor who became to be dangerous for his business, Rockefeller used all the above practices to reduce them to nothing, or he extended the olive branch to vanquished rivals, buying out their companies and drawing them into his organization, making at least some of them richer than they could have been on their own. This was not generosity but the mechanism whereby he expanded Standard Oil into a monopoly. Control can be limited by time and space, creating issues with ensuring processes and procedures are met for every patient. The high cost of healthcare is a weakness the Cleveland Clinic shares with every other health system in operation. According to bea.gov, healthcare now comprises 17% of all expenditures in the US GDP. Containing costs and keeping healthcare affordable is a struggle every health system faces. In June of 2017, Dr. Cosgrove announced his plans to retire at the end of the year. His leadership has been strong and his vision to create a global health system has a solid foundation built, it is time for him to step down. One of the main parts of America that has contributed to its renowned strength has been its economy. The United State's economy has been growing ever since it began. Credit for its strength and progress in development can be attributed to the financial geniuses of their time. John D. Rockefeller became an economical giant during his time when he changed the face of business by developing ground– breaking new strategies to ensure financial success. By establishing these set shipping rates with the railroad companies, it not only made it impossible for his competitors to stay in business, but it also allowed Rockefeller to establish a strong relationship with a key method of transportation for shipping products (Biography). By establishing a strong relationship with the railroad companies, Rockefeller was able to use his successful business practice to "control over 90 percent of the nation's oil–refining industry by 1880" (The New Tycoons). As time continued on and his business became more successful, he also applied another clever business strategy known as vertical integration. This process consisted of a company purchasing and controlling each and every step of one's industry production process. Rockefeller's company used this process very efficiently as they "became known to manipulate crude oil prices to drive refineries to bankruptcy, allowing him to buy them cheaply" (Epstein). By controlling each production step, he was able to minimize costs by removing any companies from the middle that were previously completing steps on the way to the finish product. Rockefeller was also known to manipulate prices of crude oil in order to drive his competing refineries into bankruptcy which allowed him to buy them cheaply (Epstein). However, his economic beliefs and ideas were not the only strategies which John Rockefeller used to elevate his business and personal profile to a national level and ... The Industrial Leaders of the 19th Century Should be Admired for their Work The industrial leaders, Robber Barons, of the 19th century are men who are very respected and admired. Andrew Carnegie was a boy from Scotland who came over to this country with nothing. He continued to save and work his way up in the industry until he had complete control over the steel industry. John D. Rockefeller was also one who came from an ordinary home. When he saw an opportunity, he took it, along with the risks. He came to control the oil industry. He supported and began many corporations and institutions. Many positive establishments were created only because of his generous donations. To this day many people are still benefiting from the large Carnegie fortune. Cornelius Vanderbilt was the most powerful railroad baron. He earned a fortune for himself in the steamship line. He also combined the New York and Harlem and New York and Hudson estate ferry boat operations. He established a connection between New York and Albany to make Lake Shore and Michigan Southern link Buffalo with Chicago. When he died he owned and operated nearly 4500 miles of track between New York City and most of the important cities in the Midwest. He left his fortune to his son, unlike the others he did not donate to many organizations. The only contribution he gave was to support the, now, Vanderbilt College. John D. Rockefeller also started at humble beginnings. By taking risks and investing he found himself engulfed in the rapidly expanding oil industry. Not yet in the business directly he started his own company, The Standard Oil Company of Cleveland. Rockefeller's stake in the oil industry increased as the industry itself expanded caused by the rapidly spreading use of kerosene. The Standard Oil eventually, in a few years, purchased and controlled almost all the refining firms in Cleveland, plus two refineries ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Annunciation (Cleveland Museum Of Art, Cleveland Formal Analysis of The Annuciation The painting The Annunciation (Cleveland Museum of Art, Cleveland) was made in Netherlands, or possibly France, in the 1380s, using tempera and oil with gold on wood panel. A vertical composition of about 31.43 × 40.32 cm, the sacred iconography depicts the biblical scene of the Archangel Gabriel, sent by God, announcing to the Virgin that she would soon give birth to Christ. The artist, who was commissioned to draw this piece, is unknown. The patron probably commissioned the artwork for devotional use. It might be part of a narrative polyptych, conveying the biblical story of Christ, expressing the divinity of God and Christianity. In the foreground, the two main figures of the scene, the Virgin and the Archangel, are markedly painted larger than the figures in the background, and thus, they become the attractive focus of the whole painting. ... However, she holds her hands in front of her breast, eyes gazing at God's message brought by the Archangel, palms facing each other, indicating surprise and excitement due to the message. The Virgin's serene facial expression contradicts her behavior, perhaps because the message not only tells her the incarnation of Christ but also foreshadows his doomed death. Therefore, the whole painting can be a polyptych. This piece is the beginning of the story, and other pieces, such as Crucifixion, may be other parts of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Although Russell Wilson and Kirk Cousins were still on the board, with their second pick of the first round, 28–year–old Brandon Weeden became the oldest quarterback drafted in NFL history. Weeden won them five games before being replaced by Thad Lewis and then Jason Campbell. During the 2013 offseason, the Browns picked up Brian Hoyer after he was cut by the New England Patriots. He won the most games (10) since Anderson in 2007 and is the only quarterback with a winning record for the franchise in the last 18 years. Despite Hoyer's success, the Browns drafted Texas A&M's Johnny Manziel with the 22nd–overall pick in 2014. Inequality In Cleveland Robert Grandalski Cleveland: The African American Experience Historical Racial Discrimination and Social Inequality in Cleveland Schools Cleveland in the 1800s was a time of integration and equality. African Americans living in the city received excellence treatment and thrived alongside the white citizens. During the 1840s both black and white children attended the same public schools, where they received the same quality of education. This was unique for a city at this time and the same could not be said for many other comparable cities in the United States. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Free, southern blacks and other minority groups made their way up north in order to fill the employment gaps left by the start of World War 1. Pamphlets and fliers were sent to the southern states promising African Americans, many of whom still worked on the plantations of their previous owners, well–paying jobs. What many did not realize, is that, despite the opportunity and hope being offered, Cleveland was a hotbed of racism and discrimination at this point, and would only worsen with the arrival of uneducated and unskilled minorities. (Stapleton, 17 July 1997, para. 3–5) Many of the arriving African American Clevelanders resided in apartments in the city that were close to their jobs. Many, if not most, of the white Clevelanders made their way out of the city in what became known as the start of suburbanization. Here, they owned their own homes and automobiles that allowed them to commute to work in the city. With the increase in population, an increase in housing was needed, and fast. Unfortunately, this was something that would not happen in time. Before they knew it, African American Clevelanders were living in overcrowded, overrun locations of low socioeconomic standing with seemingly nowhere to go. There were some that could who tried to move into the suburbs, but the white residents would not allow it. Harassment of the new African American neighbors and sometimes even violence broke out until the family was forced to leave. Even immigrant groups who had long since shared residence with African American Clevelanders were starting to become bitter and unwilling to allow the new southern immigrants a place to stay. With this overcrowding and under–housing situation came a decrease in property value and thus less tax money to be dispersed. Public schools relied on property taxes for funding. Because of this, city schools, now largely segregated, started to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 74. The Cleveland Elementary School Shooting The Cleveland Elementary School Shooting, 1989 Some refer to it as The Slaughter in a School Yard, The Stockton Massacre, and others as The Cleveland Elementary School Shooting. Something as horrifying as someone shooting down innocent children playing at recesses on school grounds was never expected here in the United States of America. Although there was past cases of school shootings, this was the first shooting to be televised on national television of its magnitude (Taining, P et al., 2014). A mass murderer is defined as someone who slaughters many people at one time. This particular incident unfortunately was not the slaughter of people, but it was children. It happened around 11:40 AM on January 17th, 1989 in Stockton, California. A man by the name of Patrick Edward Purdy opened fire on children ages six through nine playing at recess on school grounds of Cleveland Elementary School. This tragic case brought questions to people everywhere in our nation as to why it was so easy for a mentally unstable individual such as Patrick Purdy to enter a gun store and purchase a semiautomatic weapon ("Slaughter in a," 2001). Patrick Edward Purdy was born November 10, 1964 in Fort Lewis Washington. His parents divorced at age two. He is described as an adolescent as quiet but unable to cope with anything.
