The Dorm Analysis
Oh, the rights of fall! Summer is retreating, migratory birds start to flock, the first crops are
harvested, and (add dramatic music here) it's time for kids to go to the many colleges and
universities around the country. Dorms will soon be filled, and decorating themes of all types will
sprout from the various rooms. Lecture halls, laboratories, libraries, and gymnasiums are important
structures to any facility of higher learning, but one type of building stands alone as the bastion of
student interest: The Dorm. The dorm. That word strikes fear into the hearts of mothers concerned
about their baby boy's new "home away from home". But the topic today is decorating a guy's dorm
room, not Mom's trepidation about her offspring's laundry skills ... Show more content on

If you are living 9 months of the year in an ode to the mighty cinder block then Halloween can be
the perfect holiday to bust out of a rut and get over the halfway point of the semester. If you room
alone, then you are all set and free to decorate for Halloween at will. If you have a roomie, it would
be best to ask if they have any opinions about decorations before you get started. The ideas in this
article are broken into a couple of themes. The Macabre Halloween Theme To some people
Halloween is all skeletons, Frankenstein, and white sheets. To others it is an all out gore fest best left
alone by the faint of heart. The "Macabre Set" should get creative with their decorations and give
ordinary items a touch of the bizarre. The best place to start is a good thrift store in the print
department. Flip through their pictures and pull out some old posters or prints and take them back to
your dorm room with some creamy red paint. If you managed to land some prints of bikini clad girls
on a beach so much the better! The girls are always the first to go in a good horror movie, and they
will look great in various shades of terror on the wall. Take your red paint and apply it in a strategic
way so as to suggest trauma. A daub at the temples or a puddle at the feet will be a great opener. Let
the paint dry completely, then take your print and crumble it up slightly before pressing it back out
smooth. This helps disguise the texture of the paint and add a distorted look to the picture. Do this to
several different prints if at all possible, and mix up your selections. Even a peaceful seen of little
lambs can be given a scary twist for Halloween. The best thing to do to really add a touch of the
dark side to your artwork is to plug in a soft nightlight beneath the pictures to cast a glow on them
after dark without having to illuminate your whole room. Pull the covers tight! The Future

Proposa When Norm
Nobody wants to work for nothing, but many painting businesses do when they don't charge for all
the things that are part of each job. If you intend to do a complete job, and your customer is asking
for a complete job, then you should be charging for a complete job. Leave something off of the
estimate and you are working for nothing. Doing a complete and thorough estimate involves
everything that takes time whether it be screwing that switch plate cover back on or painting the
altar in that church. Many painters brag about what they describe as an almost mystical experience,
like walking into a room and a price comes into their head. I never liked that because it is
inaccurate, lazy and likely to end up poorly, at best you will just miss something and work for
nothing on that part of the job. Another reason why this lump sum magic is bad is that someone is
always surprised when the customer finds something that wasn't done and they thought it was part
of the job. And they tell you do it or don't get paid. I talk about this when I discuss the ... Show more

When Norm does his woodworking magic it is an event to behold; but, when Carlos spends 3 hours
vacuuming, dusting and cleaning windows after a paint job, it is nothing, it is not even mentioned.
Some many home owners tackle paint jobs and are totally clueless as to what is really involved.
Like the time when we were called in to touch up walls in this multi–million dollar mcMansion
following a $25,000 audio system wiring job where the technician cut holes in 11 different rooms.
Each room had a different color, so we cleaned rollers, brushes, cut buckets etc. after each color. The
owner gave me a big argument about charging her for the time to clean our tools. If it is part of the
job and you wouldn't be doing it except for their job, then they should be paying you for

Descriptive Art Of Art
I stand on the dense carpeted floor barefoot. My toes curl and uncurl through the fibers as I bounce
slightly to the music filling the room. It has a strong bass that somehow simultaneously calms me
down and makes me excited. I fiddle with the brush in my hand. The bristles are half coated in
cadmium red acrylic paint. The canvas in front of me is half bare and waiting for me to add more
color. I dip my brush in my paint cup. It is an old thick plastic cup permanently stained with various
other paints after years of use. I enjoy how worn it is though. It shows how long I have been
painting and feels almost like an art piece in itself. Holding the very end of the brush handle I
roughly add the watery red paint just above the center of the canvas. It drips down onto an old
trifold I always place underneath my easel for that very reason. I fill in the roughly drawn lips on the
canvas. I wipe the wet brush on my thighs, since I do not want to ruin a towel. I switch it around in
the water cup until it is clean, and then place it into a similar cup that I use to dry my brushes in
bristle–side up. I grab a similar brush from table behind me that has a bit of a rounder edge. I dip
that bush in cadmium yellow. The yellow acts as the unnatural light source on the left side of my
piece. I wished to replicate the cruddy yellow light that comes from a cheap light bulb. Once
satisfied I do the same with that brush as I did the last. The next brush I drown in a half and half
mixture of

Cost Of Painting
Have you ever wasted money on something you could have learned to do yourself? A simple easy
project that you put off because it looked too hard or you simply did not want to take the time and
learn how to do it yourself? Well taking the time to learn how to do something as simple as painting
a room can save you a lot of time and most importantly money. If you consider the cost of buying
the supplies and then hiring someone to actually paint, the cost can definitely start to add up very
quickly. But if you take the time to learn how to paint, you can save a lot of money and in the
process you will learn a new trade. With these simple and easy step–by–step instructions on how to
paint you can easily paint any room in your home in no time! Picking ... Show more content on

Open the spackle and get a generous amount with the spatula and spread it over the hole. When you
cover the hole with the spackle, the hole should not be visible. Continue this throughout the room
until all the holes are covered. After you cover the holes you will need to wait a day for the spackle
to dry. When you go back the next day and check the spackle it should be hard like the wall, if it is
still damp or easy to press on, then the spackle is not dry. When the spackle hardens it is time to
sand the hole down and make it smooth. For this you will need a sanding block and a vacuum. I
recommend the vacuum because when you start to sand the holes down a fine white dust will come
from the wall a get ever were! So hold the vacuum hose with one hand and sand with the other or
you can always get a friend to hold the vacuum hose for you while you sand. When you start
sanding, start off light, you do not want to sand too hard and risk removing the spackle and
uncovering the hole. Sand lightly and stop every few seconds and run your hand over the spot where
you sanded. If the hole is rough and does not feel smooth, then you need to sand a little more, but if
the hole is smooth and even with the wall then you have sanded correctly and can move on to the

Why Do Children Paint Their Room
Should You or Should You Not Let Your Children Paint Their Room? Open your paint bucket, grab
your brush, and let your creative juices flow. Some parents don't let their child paint their room for
these reasons. The cost, and the fact that it could become very messy. I think that parents should let
children paint their room because it will let their creativity come out on a blank wall. The color of
the room you are in can affect your mood, and if you think that your child will make it messy... you
could take control. My first reason is, if your child loves art, they could let their creative jucies flow.
If they love butterflies, you could let them paint butterflies, no matter how good or bad it turns out.

While not at the beach or on vacation, summer can be a great time to get a little work done around
the house. Whether you are improving property value or just making your house a home, there is a
lot to be done. When it comes to the nicer weather, most common improvements happen to the
exterior of the home. You can improve the interior at any time, but the exterior can only be done in
the right weather. This is the main reason that as soon as the snow melts, most people start to fix up
the outside. Not only does the spring weather make you want to be outside, but it also inspires many
of us to start fixing the things that others see. Since exterior appearances are important to many of us
and the fact that we value what others think about us, we put a lot into the exterior of our homes. ...

There are many reasons to fix up the exterior of your home. No matter what your reasons are, spring
and summer are the times to get the outside of your home in top shape. In a recent trip to the Home
Depot (mainly to get ideas on what to write about for this site), I started trying to find out what some
of the top summer projects are by asking the employees and contractors in the area. Here is a list of
the five most common summer fix ups they see on a regular basis. Decks and Patios One of the top
all time summer projects is a new deck or patio. When it gets to be summer time, people think of
barbeques and outdoor parties. Whether they are just family get–togethers or block parties with
friends, neighbors, or coworkers, these bring about the desire to build a bigger and better deck. This
is a fairly simple project that requires more time and effort than

1 – To Determine Gender or Not
With the creation of ultrasounds, many expectant parents know the sex of their baby before it is
born. Are you one of them? If so, that knowledge can help you design a room specifically for your
baby. If not, never fear, there are plenty of gender–neutral themes and designs to use in a nursery.
Even after knowing the sex of their baby, some parents choose to remain gender neutral with the
theme. The ultrasound could have been fuzzy, the doctor wasn't sure, or just wanting a neutral theme
for baby are all reasons to consider before making your decision. Therefore, your first decision as
soon–to–be parents is boy themed, girl themed or neutral. Once you make that decision, you can
move forward.
2 – Neutral, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Use an artificial or painted tree in the corner of the room. Paint or hang jungle stuffed animals in the
tree and surrounding area to make a vivid picture. Little feather butterflies from the craft store can
be nailed to the ceiling and walls. Other bugs and jungle references can be painted around the room
or hung up on posters.
9 – Farm
Old McDonald had a farm...EIEI...O. Every child loves the song and the images that go along with
the farm. Bedding and wallpaper usually have many options depicting farm life for you to choose
from. If you can't find one you like, find the trusty paintbrush and create your own décor. One wall
can be painted red to simulate a barn with open stall doors with animal head peering over the top. If
that's too artistic for you, buy toy tractors and stuffed animals and place them around the room with
farm posters. 10 – Baby Animals
If you want animals, but don't want to commit to a farm or jungle theme, use baby animals. That
way, you can use any animal from any continent or climate. From polar bears to kangaroos – you
can use a baby version of it. There are usually many styles of wallpaper with baby animals to pick
from. The bedding may or may not correspond, but a neutral shade will coordinate just fine. Use
posters to add a realistic touch or stuffed animals to make it a whimsy

want to think about is prepping the room that requires paint. This could cut down on the time that a
professional takes to paint your room or house. You will have to move furniture out of the way to

Paper Mache Research Paper
It took exactly 93 days to tire of my new apartment's stark white bedroom walls. Nice opening. I
knew painting a solid color wouldn't be exciting enough, yet I lacked the talent to paint beyond that.
I came across a magazine article with a how to on paper mache. This is one of about three
acceptable spellings for "paper mache." It's important to select one of the acceptable variations and
use it consistently throughout the essay. [My imagination light bulb went from a dull 10 watts to a
bright 150 watts.] Nice writing. The steps to how I paper mache designed my bedroom are simple
and fun to do but I did have to take an entire day to complete it. Conveniently I already had a
massive, borderline–hoarder, collection of magazines. Newspapers are typically used for paper
mache but I prefer the glossy color of magazines. I clipped out hundreds, yes hundreds, of various
sized photos and phrases. After narrowing all my photos I gathered my materials which I purchased
from the local super store. This project calls for: a plastic drop sheet, painters tape, a paint tray, a
paint brush, a gallon of ultra–white high gloss paint, a screw driver, a paint stirrer, a gallon of glue,
all the magazine clippings, a ladder, and access to a sink. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Review Of ' Fall ' All About Color '
Fall is all about color. This is the time when Mother Nature brings out her paint pallet and colors the
landscape with warm beautiful colors of reds, browns, maroons, yellow and purple. Fall is the time
to put away summer colors and summer decorations and transform the home into a warm
welcoming space. Decorating for fall means decorating with warm colors, dried flowers and
wreaths, scents of autumn, cinnamon and spice and candles. Here is how to take your home from
summer into fall without breaking your budget. Go through each room and remove anything that
speaks of summer. Take down the pictures at the beach; put away the sand candle and the shells.
Remove the pillows with the cute little fish and sea horses. Pack them away until next year. Next
scour the house, the closets, attic, and the pantry for anything fall colored. Glass ware , bowls,
fabric, candles, frames, mirrors, pillows, throws, throw rugs, pictures, any thing in brown, orange
,yellow, green, red, maroon and purple. With a sharp pair of garden shears go out to the garden or
yard and look for dried material. Weeds are only plants growing in an unwanted place, so if they are
dried and look good, cut them down and bring them inside. Grasses, foxtails, tree branches, herbs,
and dried flowers can all be used. Also gather different varieties of colors and shapes of leaves.
Make a fall wreath for the front door from the materials gathered from the yard. Using a straw base,

Personal Narrative-Dining
Dining room table? Yep. Drapes? Yep. Relatively new wall–to–wall brown carpet? Yep.
Lampshades? Yep. White walls? Yep. Piano? Oh, yeah.
There didn't seem to be a thing in my living room/dining room that didn't have the pastel green paint
splattered across it. I knew I was in grave danger when my father found out I'd touched the paint
cans, like he told me not to do at least a zillion times. So I ran.
In order to understand the depths of this criminal offense, you must first realize how I was put into
the situation. Back when I was in elementary school, probably first grade with Mrs. Black, I had a
newly developing friendship with a girl up the street, Lori. Lori and I spent all of our free time

In my mind I resembled a prima ballerina, using my mother's piano to spot my turns, preventing
dizziness and maintaining control. Several minutes of the high–flying fun came to an end and I
tamped down the growing guilt of disobeying my father by noting I had not left the newspaper he
had set under the cans to collect any spills. I couldn't be doing anything too terrible, right? I was
filled with the same exhilaration you might feel after riding the roller coaster at the amusement park.
I was dizzy and smiling and smug; I had touched the paint cans, had some fun, and no one was
worse for the wear.
The realization of what was to become a major mishap didn't take long to soak into my pea brain.
One glance anywhere in the room showed the evidence of my crime. Paint dribbles were
everywhere. There wasn't a surface that didn't contain some splatters; nothing was spared.
It was at this point I knew my life was nearing an end. My lumberjack–like father would come out
of the room, see what I had done, pick me up with one hand (leveling me parallel with the floor),
and with one spank, knock the life out of me. I couldn't take the risk of being discovered, so, as I

Ann Arbor Art Museum
I went to the Ann Arbor Art Museum to see the exhibit Moving Image: Landscape. For this exhibit I

I saw upon entering was by Jim Campbell called Seal Rock and it was displayed on the wall. The
work of art was of misty rocks with LEDs behind the image to create a sense of movement. I
enjoyed watching the movement of the mist and thought it was very calming. While interesting, it
seemed like this piece would be better suited in a restaurant or waiting room of an office rather than
a museum. Next, was the artwork called Render Garden by Rick Silva. On a flat screen 42–inch TV
displayed on the wall, there was a digital image of plants that continually changed, creating new

Room Vision Board Analysis
I have come up with quite a few money saving options to transform your nursery, playroom, child's
bedroom or ever you teenagers lair into a wonderful, custom space that they'll never want to leave!
To get started you must know what your budget is; with some of these tips no budget it too small.
Next, have a feel for what your child likes or what kind of space you want to create ; have an idea
going into it. If you don't, then start digging for new & fresh ideas. Pick a theme if you want.
Themes can be anything, a print( Chevron, paisley, Moroccan) , one or more of your favorite colors,
a Disney character, the sea, dinosaurs, construction... The ideas are endless. You just have to choose
something that fits your child's likes & needs! I recommend starting a room vision board; your child
can help! Go through old magazines, paint swatches, images on the internet looking for things they
like. Cut them out or print out the images & glue them done on a paper This could be anything a
specific color , storage ideas, a theme, a pattern... anything that stands out to the person whom the
room is for. Then, cut them out or print out the images & glue them down on a paper or pin it to a
board. This creation of a visual idea collage will become the blueprint that the room is based on.
Once this is done decide what things to can repurpose or make yourself. Even if it's a few things,
making it yourself from the heart is ALWAYS better than buying. If you do need to buys some item
always shop around! If you find something you like somewhere, there's usually a good chance that

a cozy atmosphere, softening facial features and offering a yellow light similar to incandescent

In rooms with darker colors, white colors, dark wood or dark rustic furnishings, use a 3000K bulb

Home Improvement Research Paper
As we all know, budgeting and home improvement does not always go together but this article will
give you information that could help improve your home and still save a little money.
Home improvement projects regularly scare people off, because many judge that they will pay
thousands of dollars to alter one room, because they do not have the skills to do the job them self.
They may also feel that the job is costly because supplies and tools are needed.
To the contrary, home improvement does not have to be costly at all. Of course, if you hire a
subcontractor or contractor to do the job, you will pay a fortune, but if you have patience and the
ability to read and stick to the directions, then you can renovate an whole room in your home for

specific room in your home. You will need plaster, sealers, primer, paints, paint thinners, scrapers,
screwdriver, paint opening (often come with paint purchases), patches, paintbrushes, tray, and so

Persuasive Essay On Murals For Children
If you read my last article, then you know that murals for kids rooms are losing favor in the
decorating world. This is partly due to the fact that hiring a talented muralist is expensive and the
economy does not support such luxury. Another reason is that the modern child is a bit more
sophisticated than they were 15 to 20 years ago. Just because custom painted murals are no longer
possible doesn't mean that children don't like lots of color. They are just less likely to want it in the
form of cartoon characters. Instead of painting cartoons and intricate murals on your children's
walls, here are some decorating tips that the modern child will enjoy. Choose a combination of

Instead, you can change the appearance of a small bathroom by removing certain items and adding
others. If you have not updated the accessories in your bathroom in years or you have had the same
wall color, it's time to update the bathroom! Window Treatments Window treatments in a small
room make a big impact. Replacing your window treatments with new ones instantly updates the
appearance in your small bathroom. Consider changing the type of window treatment from what you
currently have in the bathroom–for example, if you have curtains you may wish to install blinds or
shades. Paint Painting the walls in a small bathroom a different color than what is currently on them
makes a dramatic statement in the room. When selecting paint for small rooms, take into account
that semi–gloss paint reflects light and creates the illusion of a large room as well as light colors.
Painting the walls, a bright bold color in the room works well but dark colors create a dreary
atmosphere. Shower Curtain If your small bathroom is not a half bath (meaning no shower or
bathtub), replacing the shower curtain allows you to incorporate any decorating style you wish in the
bathroom without spending a large amount of money. Hanging an elegant shower curtain creates an
elegant appearance in the room compared to hanging a bold, bright shower curtain, which may
create a fun upbeat appearance in the bathroom. Allow your shower curtain to act at a large
decorating accessory. Remove Clutter Having too many accessories in a small room creates a
cluttered appearance and feel to the room. Instead of creating clutter, remove it. Select a small
variety of accessories you absolutely need in your bathroom such as a toothbrush holder, soap
dispenser, framed artwork for the walls, a towel bar and a plant. Removing clutter and unnecessary
items is the easiest way to change the appearance in any room and does not cost any money.

Color Matching
The interior of a home is the side that we see the most often. The colors of the walls and the trim set
the mood for each space and play a surprisingly large role in the feeling you get when spending time
at home. Many homeowners choose interior paint colors quickly without considering various shades
and other factors. While this may achieve acceptable results, it does not maximize the potential of
the space.
The Power of the Color Wheel
The color wheel groups colors into families and aligns them in relation to each other. Paint swatches
are usually arranged in displays or in a hand held collection of swatches that are organized with
complimenting colors across from each other for easy viewing. This is a great way to choose
coordinating colors, or to pick out a color for an accent wall.

Whites can offer the hints of other colors which will often make coordinating a white into the
scheme easier if you have decided on the bolder colors already.
Incoming Light
Narrowing the selection down to a specific color family is a great start but this is not where it ends.
There are nearly infinite shades of any basic color, and some are drastically different, whereas others
have nearly undetectable differences. Assessing the amount of natural light available and how it
affects the room at different times of the day may help in deciding on the perfect shade of your
favorite color. Many people are stunned by how different the same color will look in the morning as
compared with the afternoon sunlight.
Paint Finish
The paint sheen will also dictate the effect that is cast over a room by the paint. A glossy sheen is
often reserved for trim work and bathroom walls or other areas that experience a great deal of
moisture. Walls in bedrooms and living areas are most commonly painted with flat or eggshell
finishes.

Bed Room Asthma
Experts agree that our keeping our bedroom as free as possible from allergens makes a huge
difference in the quality of life for asthma and allergy–sufferers. There are several steps one can take
to reduce the allergens in the bedroom. First, if possible, avoid carpet and rugs. This is not always
possible, especially if you are renting. If you cannot remove the carpet, then vacuum daily with a
hepa–filtered vacuum (change filter often), paying close attention to areas behind and under
furniture, and have carpets professionally cleaned every three months. Use only curtains that can be
machine washed, and avoid mini–blinds (they can be a dust magnet). Take the curtains down and

The Bathroom Is Among The Most Neglected Rooms Essay
Frequently, the bathroom is among the most neglected rooms in the house when we think about
redecorating. We are inclined to look at it as just a functional room, although we spend a lot of time
there and teenagers take up even more time. Set aside some time to transform your bathroom into a
restful and calming space for yourself and your family without breaking the family budget. Paint all
the walls, as well as the ceiling, a lavish color. Although this is the smallest room in the house, a rich
color painted on the walls allows a warm feeling and immediately makes the room comfy and
appears as if it 's larger. Eliminate anything that is cluttering up the room. If you can not put most of
the cosmetics and shaving items below the sink, purchase some baskets from the discount store and
put them in there. Be sure you have a clothes hamper. If you 're limited on space, get some of those
hangers you use on the door. The type you hang from the top of the door. You can really hang a lot
of stuff that way. You could hang a big drawstring bag on the door to serve much the same purpose.
Are you using a frameless mirror in your bathroom? Let 's fix that. Drape pieces of fabric from
small hooks to conceal and soften the borders of the mirror and give the appearance of being
framed. You could cut pieces of one by four boards and nail or screw them to the wall to conceal the
borders of the mirror and imitate an actual professionally built wood frame mirror. You may stain or

Rooms In The 19th Century
Where were we at before rooms came along? Now here we are since rooms were made. Many
changes have taken place in rooms between these points in time, however the bedroom is, and
remains to be, the most used room in a household. Obviously we began to require more things of a
room as time progressed, and so the necessary changes were implemented. By ascertaining a better
grasp of the adjustments made to the bedroom from era to era, one may better appreciate and
become more knowledgeable of the antiquities that befell the various ages. At the turn of the 19th
century many more people occupied the same home together, usually about 10 people per house.

Compare Two Ways To Paint A Room Of Van Gogh At Arles
Two Ways To Paint a Picture
When Vincent Van Gogh painted his oil on canvas work titled The Bedroom of van gogh at Arles he
wanted to capture the colors and emotion in the room. Van Gogh wanted to bring forth the idea of
peace and relaxation and used his brush to do so. Jane Flanders on the other hand, chose another
route to discuss the feelings in the room. In the poem titled "Van Gogh's Bed", Flanders uses another
form of art, poetry, to paint a picture of a room. Flanders takes the painting and helps give the reader
a new meaning and emotion that comes from the art. For example she says, " morning light pours
in// like wine, melody, fragrance,// the memory of happiness" (Flanders 13–15). This brings to the
reader a sense of peace,

Painting Job Analysis
How to estimate a paint job? This is the biggest problem that painters face. Estimating is not as
difficult as painters think it is, usually the problem is pricing. How to estimate painting a room?
Measure the room, unless I have a lot of windows and doors, I don't deduct for open space,
normally. Take the width multiply by two, then take the length and multiply by two add these figures
together and multiply by the height.
So, let's say I can paint one hundred square feet of wall surface at the rate of 1/2 hour. In other
words if it takes 1/2 hour for you or your crew to paint a 12x8 foot wall, then multiply your total
square feet of wall by your hourly rate. One hundred square feet of wall in a re–paint is different
than one hundred square feet in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
2) Why this is only a starting point is that:
a) You may go faster or slower than me so you have to time yourself and /or your crew. And then
use your job times not mine. Each house may have different rates. Your crew is faster or slower.
b) What if it takes you 3 hours to drive to the job?
You need to keep track of how long it takes for your crew to paint a room. Keep track of your paint
job costs. Write it down, like in a diary. Estimate with you're the time it takes for you or your crew
to paint a room or door or window. Consider the jobs individually, for example, Prep, is there a lot
of spackling? What about protection? Are the windows one large pane or twelve little panes? Do
you have to clean up each night?
Clean up?
To a degree we have to be competitive but most of all we need to slow down when we estimate and
make sure that you don't lose money because you wanted that job so much that you gave the job
away, it is better to walk away from an estimate than it is to lose money.

Creating An Under The Sea Themed Room For My Baby
Creating an Under the Sea themed room for my baby was an exciting and rewarding experience. I
found inspiration almost everywhere I looked. I love the personalized room we created, and I know
that you can do it, too! Carpet and Paint When we bought our house, the baby 's room was the first
to get decorated. The carpet needed to be replaced anyway, so we chose a sand color. If we choose
to change the room later on, the carpet will still be neutral enough to compliment another theme. If
you have hardwood floors in the baby 's room, you can easily add a throw rug. Although you can
paint the walls blue and call it a day, my husband and I decided to really dedicate the underwater
room to it 's theme. We painted the ceiling and a few inches of the top of the walls light blue. Then
we painted the rest of the walls a darker shade of blue. Where the two met at the top, we painted a
wavy pattern. Remember, this doesn 't have to be perfect. After the paint dried and we applied a
second coat, it was time to add some embellishments. I painted big puffy clouds onto the ceiling. On
the walls we painted some plain green plants. If you are particularly artistic, you can paint fish right
into the scenes. We aren 't artistically inclined, so we found a way around that. Fabrics I headed
straight to the fabric store to find the perfect curtains and blankets. Although you can certainly hang
plain blue curtains up, we chose a flannel cloud print. The flannel was thick enough to filter some

What does the object look like? Antique, old, worn wood. There are curvy edges on the backrest
portion. The wood is very worn on the seat part, and there is a lot of dust on the chair. The right side
of the chair is broken in a jagged break.
Where did you obtain this object? I found this at the Poehler Antique Mall in Emporia, KS. The
antique mall is located on Commercial Street.
Where can you find similar objects? At this antique store, there were tons of old chairs. You could
find more there. I would assume that a lot of antique stores have old pieces of furniture like this
chair. There are probably a lot of these types of chairs in older style homes. They could be found in
table and chair sets, or they could be possibly found in a church.

Who or what does this object represent? I think this object represents middle class people. Often the
middle class is overlooked and are considered "average." This chair is overlooked too because it is a
piece of furniture that almost everyone has, and we don't often think about how the chair got there or
how the chair was made. I think this is similar with a lot of people in the world. Many people go
unnoticed. I hope that by adding color to this old chair, will be like the colorful personalities many
people have, which makes them stand out above others.
What does this object mean to you? I became invested in this chair, I spent a lot of time and money
on this project. I hope the chair will add a new style to my room. It means something special to me
because I took something old and gave it a new look, but the object still does the same

Essay on Light and Truth in Ralph Ellison's Invisible Man
Ralph Ellison's Invisible Man tells of one man's realizations of the world. This man, the invisible
man, comes to realize through experience what the world is really like. He realizes that there is
illusion and there is reality, and reality is seen through light. The Invisible Man says, "Nothing,
storm or flood, must get in the way of our need for light and ever more and brighter light. The truth
is the light and light is the truth" (7). Ellison uses light as a symbol for this truth, or reality of the
world, along with contrasts between dark/light and black/white to help show the invisible man's
evolving understanding of the concept that the people of the world need to be shown their true ways.

wouldn't work in a million years" (204). Kimbro, one of the leaders of the company, can be

white can only lead to "sabotage." For this crime, Kimbro sends the Invisible Man to work as an

With its location in the basement, the boiler room can hide one from the light, or truth, of the real
world.
The Invisible Man's education continues with his induction in the Brotherhood and his continuing
realizations about reality. The Brotherhood makes the Invisible Man believe that he has found a true
home, a place where everyone is working for the improvement of all the people, not just specifically
blacks or whites. His first task involves giving a speech in Harlem to a charged crowd. He has yet to
fully grasp reality, but instead is only beginning to understand the Brotherhood's reality, that of goals
aimed only to the bettering of themselves. At this point, however, the invisible man believes that the

Misconceptions For Homeowners
Paint is one of the quickest and cheapest improvements a homeowner could do. However, many
homeowners shy away from a new coat of paint because of the following commonly held
misconceptions about house paint in Santa Rosa. Misconception: Painting is too pricey. Reality:
Painting is actually one of the cheapest ways to breath new life into a old space. While a can of high
quality paint may look too expensive, consider how much coverage you'll get out of a single gallon
can. Homeowners can paint just a single wall to make a statement, repaint a room, or paint their
whole house depending on budget. Misconception: Extra coats will be needed to cover stains.
Reality: There are several high quality primers designed to cover stains and prevent

My Dorm Room With Style
Let 's face it–dorm rooms can be depressing. Many of them are small, cramped, and devoid of any
style or life. And since you only live in them for nine months before moving on, it can feel pointless
to spend any real time decorating your space. While dorms have all sorts of restrictions that prevent
you from going wild with your décor, it is possible to decorate your dorm room with style that goes
beyond a few random posters on the wall. Follow these simple tips and ideas to infuse your dorm
room with style and enjoy your school year. Choose a Color Palette In college, it 's easy to decorate
your dorm room as you go, collecting an array of pieces that don 't really add up to much of
anything. To give your dorm room a cohesive look, choose a color palette that you love and use it as
a guide when choosing accessories. If you don 't have a favorite hue, think of your favorite places or
moods. Deep blues and greens can invoke the sea and promote calm, while reds and oranges invite a
spicy flair that can awake and excite you. Don 't go overboard in your color scheme, however, or
you may start to feel closed in rather than enjoy it. Organize your dorm room around one or two
main colors and accessorize in smaller ways with accent colors. Key pieces in your dorm room you
can decorate are the bedding, desk chair, lamp, clock, or even some accessory pieces on a desk or
shelf. Be sure to inject splashes of a complimentary color within the room to keep it from feeling too
one–note.

The Dorm Analysis

  • 1. The Dorm Analysis Oh, the rights of fall! Summer is retreating, migratory birds start to flock, the first crops are harvested, and (add dramatic music here) it's time for kids to go to the many colleges and universities around the country. Dorms will soon be filled, and decorating themes of all types will sprout from the various rooms. Lecture halls, laboratories, libraries, and gymnasiums are important structures to any facility of higher learning, but one type of building stands alone as the bastion of student interest: The Dorm. The dorm. That word strikes fear into the hearts of mothers concerned about their baby boy's new "home away from home". But the topic today is decorating a guy's dorm room, not Mom's trepidation about her offspring's laundry skills ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If you are living 9 months of the year in an ode to the mighty cinder block then Halloween can be the perfect holiday to bust out of a rut and get over the halfway point of the semester. If you room alone, then you are all set and free to decorate for Halloween at will. If you have a roomie, it would be best to ask if they have any opinions about decorations before you get started. The ideas in this article are broken into a couple of themes. The Macabre Halloween Theme To some people Halloween is all skeletons, Frankenstein, and white sheets. To others it is an all out gore fest best left alone by the faint of heart. The "Macabre Set" should get creative with their decorations and give ordinary items a touch of the bizarre. The best place to start is a good thrift store in the print department. Flip through their pictures and pull out some old posters or prints and take them back to your dorm room with some creamy red paint. If you managed to land some prints of bikini clad girls on a beach so much the better! The girls are always the first to go in a good horror movie, and they will look great in various shades of terror on the wall. Take your red paint and apply it in a strategic way so as to suggest trauma. A daub at the temples or a puddle at the feet will be a great opener. Let the paint dry completely, then take your print and crumble it up slightly before pressing it back out smooth. This helps disguise the texture of the paint and add a distorted look to the picture. Do this to several different prints if at all possible, and mix up your selections. Even a peaceful seen of little lambs can be given a scary twist for Halloween. The best thing to do to really add a touch of the dark side to your artwork is to plug in a soft nightlight beneath the pictures to cast a glow on them after dark without having to illuminate your whole room. Pull the covers tight! The Future Homemaker Halloween Theme This theme is built ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 3. Proposa When Norm Nobody wants to work for nothing, but many painting businesses do when they don't charge for all the things that are part of each job. If you intend to do a complete job, and your customer is asking for a complete job, then you should be charging for a complete job. Leave something off of the estimate and you are working for nothing. Doing a complete and thorough estimate involves everything that takes time whether it be screwing that switch plate cover back on or painting the altar in that church. Many painters brag about what they describe as an almost mystical experience, like walking into a room and a price comes into their head. I never liked that because it is inaccurate, lazy and likely to end up poorly, at best you will just miss something and work for nothing on that part of the job. Another reason why this lump sum magic is bad is that someone is always surprised when the customer finds something that wasn't done and they thought it was part of the job. And they tell you do it or don't get paid. I talk about this when I discuss the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When Norm does his woodworking magic it is an event to behold; but, when Carlos spends 3 hours vacuuming, dusting and cleaning windows after a paint job, it is nothing, it is not even mentioned. Some many home owners tackle paint jobs and are totally clueless as to what is really involved. Like the time when we were called in to touch up walls in this multi–million dollar mcMansion following a $25,000 audio system wiring job where the technician cut holes in 11 different rooms. Each room had a different color, so we cleaned rollers, brushes, cut buckets etc. after each color. The owner gave me a big argument about charging her for the time to clean our tools. • 5. Descriptive Art Of Art I stand on the dense carpeted floor barefoot. My toes curl and uncurl through the fibers as I bounce slightly to the music filling the room. It has a strong bass that somehow simultaneously calms me down and makes me excited. I fiddle with the brush in my hand. The bristles are half coated in cadmium red acrylic paint. The canvas in front of me is half bare and waiting for me to add more color. I dip my brush in my paint cup. It is an old thick plastic cup permanently stained with various other paints after years of use. I enjoy how worn it is though. It shows how long I have been painting and feels almost like an art piece in itself. Holding the very end of the brush handle I roughly add the watery red paint just above the center of the canvas. It drips down onto an old trifold I always place underneath my easel for that very reason. I fill in the roughly drawn lips on the canvas. I wipe the wet brush on my thighs, since I do not want to ruin a towel. I switch it around in the water cup until it is clean, and then place it into a similar cup that I use to dry my brushes in bristle–side up. I grab a similar brush from table behind me that has a bit of a rounder edge. I dip that bush in cadmium yellow. The yellow acts as the unnatural light source on the left side of my piece. I wished to replicate the cruddy yellow light that comes from a cheap light bulb. Once satisfied I do the same with that brush as I did the last. The next brush I drown in a half and half mixture of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A simple easy project that you put off because it looked too hard or you simply did not want to take the time and learn how to do it yourself? Well taking the time to learn how to do something as simple as painting a room can save you a lot of time and most importantly money. If you consider the cost of buying the supplies and then hiring someone to actually paint, the cost can definitely start to add up very quickly. But if you take the time to learn how to paint, you can save a lot of money and in the process you will learn a new trade. With these simple and easy step–by–step instructions on how to paint you can easily paint any room in your home in no time! Picking ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Open the spackle and get a generous amount with the spatula and spread it over the hole. When you cover the hole with the spackle, the hole should not be visible. Continue this throughout the room until all the holes are covered. After you cover the holes you will need to wait a day for the spackle to dry. When you go back the next day and check the spackle it should be hard like the wall, if it is still damp or easy to press on, then the spackle is not dry. When the spackle hardens it is time to sand the hole down and make it smooth. For this you will need a sanding block and a vacuum. I recommend the vacuum because when you start to sand the holes down a fine white dust will come from the wall a get ever were! So hold the vacuum hose with one hand and sand with the other or you can always get a friend to hold the vacuum hose for you while you sand. When you start sanding, start off light, you do not want to sand too hard and risk removing the spackle and uncovering the hole. Sand lightly and stop every few seconds and run your hand over the spot where you sanded. If the hole is rough and does not feel smooth, then you need to sand a little more, but if the hole is smooth and even with the wall then you have sanded correctly and can move on to the next ... Some parents don't let their child paint their room for these reasons. The cost, and the fact that it could become very messy. I think that parents should let children paint their room because it will let their creativity come out on a blank wall. The color of the room you are in can affect your mood, and if you think that your child will make it messy... you could take control. My first reason is, if your child loves art, they could let their creative jucies flow. If they love butterflies, you could let them paint butterflies, no matter how good or bad it turns out. • 11. Home Depot Research Paper While not at the beach or on vacation, summer can be a great time to get a little work done around the house. Whether you are improving property value or just making your house a home, there is a lot to be done. When it comes to the nicer weather, most common improvements happen to the exterior of the home. You can improve the interior at any time, but the exterior can only be done in the right weather. This is the main reason that as soon as the snow melts, most people start to fix up the outside. Not only does the spring weather make you want to be outside, but it also inspires many of us to start fixing the things that others see. Since exterior appearances are important to many of us and the fact that we value what others think about us, we put a lot into the exterior of our homes. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are many reasons to fix up the exterior of your home. No matter what your reasons are, spring and summer are the times to get the outside of your home in top shape. In a recent trip to the Home Depot (mainly to get ideas on what to write about for this site), I started trying to find out what some of the top summer projects are by asking the employees and contractors in the area. Here is a list of the five most common summer fix ups they see on a regular basis. Decks and Patios One of the top all time summer projects is a new deck or patio. When it gets to be summer time, people think of barbeques and outdoor parties. Whether they are just family get–togethers or block parties with friends, neighbors, or coworkers, these bring about the desire to build a bigger and better deck. This is a fairly simple project that requires more time and effort than ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

If so, that knowledge can help you design a room specifically for your baby. If not, never fear, there are plenty of gender–neutral themes and designs to use in a nursery. Even after knowing the sex of their baby, some parents choose to remain gender neutral with the theme. The ultrasound could have been fuzzy, the doctor wasn't sure, or just wanting a neutral theme for baby are all reasons to consider before making your decision. Therefore, your first decision as soon–to–be parents is boy themed, girl themed or neutral. Once you make that decision, you can move forward. 2 – Neutral, ... If you can't find one you like, find the trusty paintbrush and create your own décor. One wall can be painted red to simulate a barn with open stall doors with animal head peering over the top. If that's too artistic for you, buy toy tractors and stuffed animals and place them around the room with farm posters. 10 – Baby Animals If you want animals, but don't want to commit to a farm or jungle theme, use baby animals. That way, you can use any animal from any continent or climate. From polar bears to kangaroos – you can use a baby version of it. I knew painting a solid color wouldn't be exciting enough, yet I lacked the talent to paint beyond that. I came across a magazine article with a how to on paper mache. This is one of about three acceptable spellings for "paper mache." It's important to select one of the acceptable variations and use it consistently throughout the essay. [My imagination light bulb went from a dull 10 watts to a bright 150 watts.] Nice writing. The steps to how I paper mache designed my bedroom are simple and fun to do but I did have to take an entire day to complete it. Conveniently I already had a massive, borderline–hoarder, collection of magazines. Newspapers are typically used for paper mache but I prefer the glossy color of magazines. I clipped out hundreds, yes hundreds, of various sized photos and phrases. After narrowing all my photos I gathered my materials which I purchased from the local super store. • 57. The Bathroom Is Among The Most Neglected Rooms Essay Frequently, the bathroom is among the most neglected rooms in the house when we think about redecorating. We are inclined to look at it as just a functional room, although we spend a lot of time there and teenagers take up even more time. Set aside some time to transform your bathroom into a restful and calming space for yourself and your family without breaking the family budget. Paint all the walls, as well as the ceiling, a lavish color. Although this is the smallest room in the house, a rich color painted on the walls allows a warm feeling and immediately makes the room comfy and appears as if it 's larger. Eliminate anything that is cluttering up the room. If you can not put most of the cosmetics and shaving items below the sink, purchase some baskets from the discount store and put them in there. Be sure you have a clothes hamper. If you 're limited on space, get some of those hangers you use on the door. The type you hang from the top of the door. You can really hang a lot of stuff that way. You could hang a big drawstring bag on the door to serve much the same purpose. Are you using a frameless mirror in your bathroom? Let 's fix that. Drape pieces of fabric from small hooks to conceal and soften the borders of the mirror and give the appearance of being framed. You could cut pieces of one by four boards and nail or screw them to the wall to conceal the borders of the mirror and imitate an actual professionally built wood frame mirror. Compare Two Ways To Paint A Room Of Van Gogh At Arles Two Ways To Paint a Picture When Vincent Van Gogh painted his oil on canvas work titled The Bedroom of van gogh at Arles he wanted to capture the colors and emotion in the room. Van Gogh wanted to bring forth the idea of peace and relaxation and used his brush to do so. Jane Flanders on the other hand, chose another route to discuss the feelings in the room. In the poem titled "Van Gogh's Bed", Flanders uses another form of art, poetry, to paint a picture of a room. Flanders takes the painting and helps give the reader a new meaning and emotion that comes from the art. For example she says, " morning light pours in// like wine, melody, fragrance,// the memory of happiness" (Flanders 13–15). This brings to the reader a sense of peace, ... • 63. Painting Job Analysis How to estimate a paint job? This is the biggest problem that painters face. Estimating is not as difficult as painters think it is, usually the problem is pricing. How to estimate painting a room? Measure the room, unless I have a lot of windows and doors, I don't deduct for open space, normally. Take the width multiply by two, then take the length and multiply by two add these figures together and multiply by the height. So, let's say I can paint one hundred square feet of wall surface at the rate of 1/2 hour. In other words if it takes 1/2 hour for you or your crew to paint a 12x8 foot wall, then multiply your total square feet of wall by your hourly rate. You need to keep track of how long it takes for your crew to paint a room. Keep track of your paint job costs. Write it down, like in a diary. Are the windows one large pane or twelve little panes? Do you have to clean up each night? Clean up? To a degree we have to be competitive but most of all we need to slow down when we estimate and make sure that you don't lose money because you wanted that job so much that you gave the job away, it is better to walk away from an estimate than it is to lose money. I love the personalized room we created, and I know that you can do it, too! Carpet and Paint When we bought our house, the baby 's room was the first to get decorated. The carpet needed to be replaced anyway, so we chose a sand color. If we choose to change the room later on, the carpet will still be neutral enough to compliment another theme. If you have hardwood floors in the baby 's room, you can easily add a throw rug. Although you can paint the walls blue and call it a day, my husband and I decided to really dedicate the underwater room to it 's theme. We painted the ceiling and a few inches of the top of the walls light blue. Then we painted the rest of the walls a darker shade of blue. Where the two met at the top, we painted a wavy pattern. Remember, this doesn 't have to be perfect. After the paint dried and we applied a second coat, it was time to add some embellishments. I painted big puffy clouds onto the ceiling. On the walls we painted some plain green plants. If you are particularly artistic, you can paint fish right into the scenes. We aren 't artistically inclined, so we found a way around that. Fabrics I headed straight to the fabric store to find the perfect curtains and blankets. Although you can certainly hang plain blue curtains up, we chose a flannel cloud print. When me and my sister were little my mother let us decorate the walls any way we wanted with a maccaroni yellow paint. She kept it up even when we were older, vowing to never paint over it, saying, "It's nice to remember when you were young and cute." That is how I knew something was changing. I came home from school one day and the walls were covered with a fresh, shiny coat of brown paint, the toxic fumes still floating in the air. Our dinner was finished in silence and the rest of the night was filled with an uncomfortable stillness. "What will happen to the splot of blue glitter–glue on the living room ceiling?" I asked my mother one day as we packed. "Will they leave it? Will they paint over it? What are they going to do?" I badgered my mother with questions until finally with an exasperated sigh, she turned to me, swiping her curly hair out of her eyes, and said, "I don't know Marra. Okay? I just don't know." That stuff wouldn't work in a million years" (204). Kimbro, one of the leaders of the company, can be compared to a leader of society. He believes that the mixing of black and white, without a result of white can only lead to "sabotage." For this crime, Kimbro sends the Invisible Man to work as an assistant in a boiler room.
