‘The Man Who Knew Too Much’ by Alexander Baron is an
interesting story about an ordinary solider named Quelch. He was
sincere and devoted to his work. He was an unusual character.
Soon after his arrival at the training centre he got the nick name”
the professor because of his lanky, stooping speculated
appearance and air of knowledge.”Private Quelch was quite
knowledgeable. In class he used to correct the instructor if the
latter was not quite accurate in his statements. Thus one day when
the instructor told the class that the muzzle velocity of the rifle is
well over two thousand feet per second the professor corrected
him saying that it was two thousand hundred and forty feet per
second. he would give the correct answers even when the
instructor put questions to him in the hope of revenge .once a
sergeant wanted to know whether he knew all about musketry
because of his previous training.
