1. NEW ERA OF NANOCHEMISTRY
PRESENTED BY
J.AJITHKUMAR;M.Sc;
DEPT OF CHEMISTRY.
SRI KALISWARI COLLEGE.
2. NANOTECHNOLOGY
• Nano chemistry is the combination of
chemistry and Nano science.
• Nano chemistry is associated with synthesis
of building blocks which are dependent on
size, surface, shape and defect properties.
• Several chemical modification on nanometer
scaled structures, approves effects of being
size dependent.
3. • Greek word nanos means very small.
• Nano- a combining form with
the meaning “very small, minute
• one billionth” 10-9 m.
4. APPLICATIONS OF NANOTECHNOLOGY
• MEDICINAL FIELD
• ELECTRONICS
• MILLITERY FIELD
• TEXTILES
• PAINT INDUSTRY
• COSMETICS
• AGRICULTURE.
6. MEDICINAL FIELD
• Drug medicine, therapeutics.
• Diagnoses of disease.
• Nano robots.
• Sake of increasing knowledge of human body.
• E.g. abraxane albumin bound NPs to treat the
breast cancer and pancreatic cancer.
• Doxil to treat the ovarian cancer.
• Limitation conventional drug selectivity and
resistance and solublity.
7. • E.g. quantum dots are used to resist
antibiotic resistant infection.
• Drug delivery to tumors
• gold nanoparticles for targeted delivery of
drugs to tumors.
• cadmium selenite quantum dots are
absorbed by tumor cells and glow easy to
operate out.
9. ELECTRONICS
• To improve the physical strength and reduce the
cost of the chips fabrication.(nanolithography)
• Reducing the size of the electronic equipments
with high efficiency.
• Improve the storage capacity of devices like
memory card.
• E.g. build up a high speed computer with
nanostructured semiconducting meterial like
silicon.
11. MILLITERY FIELD
• The cloths wear by the soldiers changed color
with changing the surroundings.
• Warning signals by the flexible light emitting
display.
• To monitor heart beat and temperature and
respiration by Nano sensors.
• Detection of explosives and toxic gases.
• E.g. carbon nanotubes.
13. TEXTILE INDUSTRY
• Production of fabrics for the filtration process
and medical field.
• Air breathability.
• Water resistance and strain resistence.
• Wrinkle prevention.
• Antibacterial activity of cloths.
• E.g. titanium dioxide coated fabrics and silver
NPs .
15. PAINT INDUSTRY
• To improve efficiency of paints like long
durability.
• Scratch resistant.
• Anti corrosion and flame resistant.
• Oil and water retardant.
• Cooler paints and antimicrobial paints.
• E.g. ammonium poly phosphate, gold and Ag
Nanoparticles. Fumed silica.
17. AGRICULTURE
• Nanoparticles can control the disease caused
by pathogens.
• Nanoparticles contains fertilizers are also to
be used for efficient growth of the plants.
• Nano pesticides are also be used to control
the pathogens.
• E.g. Nano alumina silicate used as a
environmental safety pesticide. Nano silver.
19. COSMETICS
• The nanoparticles are also used in the
cosmetics to improve better adsorption of
cosmetics stability and sunscreen protection
and skin care.
• Zinc oxide nanoparticles cure skin diseses like
acne.
• Titanium dioxide NPs can act as a sunscreen
protection.
21. DYE AND POLYMER INDUSTRY
• Now a days majority of dyes are used in the
textile industry to coloring the cloths.
• So the water is polluted by the organic dyes so
the nanoparticles are used to dissociate the dyes
to simple molecule like water and carbon
dioxide and ammonia.
• E.g. silver manganese dioxide Nano composite.
• Platinum manganese dioxide Nano composite.
