In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and
conventions of real media products?
In this image, we are shown the antagonist washing mud of her hands. This shot creates an enigma
as the audience are not sure whether she committed the crime or not, however the mud on her
hands suggests that it wasn’t a dream at all, but really a flash back.
This image shows the antagonist walking down The Thicket with a spade in one hand and a bag in
another. She carries onto bury the bag. This shot shows identity because it shows the main
character in normal, everyday clothes for her age, telling the audience a lot about her character.

This shot is intertwined with fast cuts of the antagonist in the forest scene to show the difference
between both scenes and also to show the moment in which the character wakes up. This can be
called an optical illusion because the audience is not sure where the character is waking up, or even
if what they have previously seen was a dream or a flashback.
This shot is shown after the main character has washed her hands and turns to go back into her
bedroom. It shows her in an ordinary situation, as this is something that girls in her particular social
group would be used to doing/seeing. It does not seem strange at all which contrasts heavily with
the crime which has been committed.

This still shows a different side to the main character. Originally, she is shown committing a crime
which makes you believe that she must be the antagonist. However, as she is putting on her school
uniform, this shows a more vulnerable side to the character, hinting that she could possibly fit into
the protagonist category too.
This image shows the representation of the character as she is putting on her school uniform which
tells a lot about her as a person. She goes to school, must be 16 or under, so is quite vulnerable
purely down to her young age. This may explain why she has done the things which she has done.

This still shows the point in which the antagonist is about to bury the body. It is an over-the-
shoulder shot which adds to the element of voyeurism. It looks as though someone may be
watching her.
