1. ‘20th Century Fox’ is both a
production and distribution
company which was started
in 1935
Founded by William Fox in
1915
Most successful films: Avatar, Star Wars,
Chronicles of Narnia, Speed.
Commonly known for having storylines
revolving around mankind and something of
the unknown.
Popular horror films: Alien, The
Rocky Horror Picture Show, Aliens,
The Omen, Alien vs. Predator.
Uses both vertical and horizontal
integration. Mostly vertical.
They create a lot of action,
adventure, family films such as X-
Men, Dawn Of The Planet Of The
Apes, Alvin and the Chipmunks,
Star Wars etc.
One of the six major recognised
American film studios.
Although most of their success comes from producing family films they
do have a selection of good horror films but a lot of them were
produced from 1960s to 1990s so the popular horror films seems to be
a little out dated. For my audience I would need a institution that has
experience in creating horror films that are relatable now. Therefore I
wouldn’t consider using 20th Century Fox

as: Paramount Pictures and Universal Pictures.

made: Paranormal Activity, The
Purge, Insidious and Sinister.
Uses horizontal integration
After much research I have decided this film
company would be most suitable to use to
produce my film. They have much success in
creating films from a micro-budget whilst
making a lot of profit.. They have also created
films like Paranormal Activity which is
popularly recognised as a good horror film.
New and recent film institution,
relating to audiences now
