3. Introduction to
Computer Devices:
Computer Device : Any electronic equipment
controlled by a CPU , including Desktop and Laptop
computers , Smart phones and Tablets.
It usually refers to a general-purpose device that can
accept software for many purposes.
5. INPUT
DEVICES
An input device is a
piece of equipment
used to provide data
and control signals to
an information
processing system
such as a computer or
information appliance.
6. OUTPUT
DEVICES
An output device is
any piece of computer
hardware equipment
which converts
information into
human –readable
form. It can be text ,
graphics, audio and
video.
8. SCANNER
A Device that optically scans
images , printed text ,
handwriting or an object and
converts it to a digital image.
Commonly used in offices are
variations of the desktop
flatbed scanner where the
document is placed on a glass
window for scanning.
10. KEYBOARD
A keyboard is basically a
board of keys along with the
mouse. The keyboard is one of
the primary input device. The
keyboards design comes from
the original typewriter
keyboard which arranged
letters and numbers in a way
that prevented the type bars
from getting jammed when
typing quickly.
12. SPEAKER
Speaker are popular output
devices used with computer
systems. They receive audio
input from the computers sound
card and produce audio output in
the form of sound waves .
Speakers usually come in pairs
which allows them to produce
stereo sound from two separate
audio channels.
13. MONITOR
A computer monitor is an output
device that displays information in
pictorial form. A monitor usually
comprises the visual display ,
circuitry , casing and power
supply .
Monitors also refer to speakers
used for monitoring sound used
by studio monitors to listen to
recordings.
14. PRINTER
A printer is an output device
that prints paper documents.
This include text documents,
images or a combination of
both.
Two most common types of
printers are :
Inkjet printer
Laser printer
15. Conclusion
The computers will be of no use unless it is able to
communicate with the outside world. Input and Output
devices are required for users to communicate with the
computer. In simple terms, input devices bring
information into the computer and output devices bring
information out of a computer system. These input and
output devices are also known as peripherals since they
enclose the CPU and memory of a computer system.
