2. Planning/Time management
During the planning was given five topics from my client to choose and focus
onto. I chose to focus on making my product towards the elderly since they're
the most popular demographic. I also combined this topic to another topic
that my client wanted which was to make it into a voxpops style. This allowed
me to further analyse this idea in my final mind map in a lot of depth making
it the strongest part of my planning. This however didnβt work with my final
product as I managed to fail the vox pocks idea as the nature reserve was
always empty. The idea wasnβt rational as I should have known that winter
wasnβt the best time for a vox pocks. This essentially ruined my B-roll ideas as
well as some of my animation ideas however I was able to make an animated
logo. My time management was fairly tight as I had to make time for my
partner. We was able to make plenty of days to shoot b-roll and to find an
interviewee but we was never able to find an interviewee. To improve I would
try and manage my own separate days so that I would have more days to find
an interviewee rather then relying on a partner to be with me.
3. Research
During my research I specifically looked into my target audience since my
client wanted me to focus my attention towards the elderly. By locating
similar charity's that have a large elderly demographic such as the World
Wildlife Funds. Finding this out helped a lot since I could research how the
WWF attract the elderly. This research also ties with WWFs target gender
with them having and even demographic between females and males. The
weaknesses during this is fact that I havenβt done a detailed analysis of the
WWF which meant I roughly understood how to attract an elderly audience.
This massively effected my final product as it became fairy empty and
uninteresting which wasnβt what my client wanted. Which impacted my
advert best was my interview as it helped me understand what was
important. For example I didnβt include music since my interviewee stated it
would brake the immersion of the Wild spaces so instead added diegetic
nature sounds. I even made my advert very short since my interviewee said
that a shorter add would make the message easy to understand making it
more satisfying to the audience.
4. Aesthetic Qualities
The largest strength of my final product is the post production such as the
animation and colour grading. For example the animation is what makes the
advert most unique as an opening. The colour grading made the dull winter
nature shots more sunny and exotic. The biggest weakness is how dull the
narration and the lack of content which my client didnβt want. For example I
had to scrap many ideas as I couldnβt find an elderly interviewee. Also with it
being winter I couldnβt get footage of animals which I planned. To improve I
should have been more rational with my planning and to make more time for
me to be able to find an interviewee.
