Roman Forum Essay
To what extent was the Roman Forum the heart of the Republic?
The Forum Romanum (Roman Forum). Heart of Rome and the focal point for all economic, political and religious processions. It was the core of the
ancient city and became over time the centre of the vast Roman empire. Originally a marketplace for farmers, it grew like a seed to form a place for
justice, amusement, festivals and funerals. Here, elections were held, triumphal processions took place and the Senate assembled. The great evolution
of the forum to become the heart of Rome was a result of the important waterway underneath; Cloaca Maxima, the Forum being home to religious,
cult and other forms of worship, the temples ranging from the Temple of Jupiter to the Vesta, a place for political and other senators working from
the preaching on the Rosta to the work done in the Tabularium and a hub for economic and judicial purposes. The Forum was not only a place for
the senators and political rulers of Rome to come together, but it was also a meeting place for all the people of Rome and the ancient world.Even after
the Late Republic, the Forum continued to be a symbol of Rome's wealth and prosperity – ranking today as one of the most visited archaeological sites
in the world [1]....show more content...
It is also described the central or innermost part of something. These definitions are both accurate to describe the Forum's role and place in the
Roman Late Republic. Situated just above Campitelli and to the left of the Colosseum, the Forum is as 'heart' as you could get in the city. Looking
north, it sits on the right hand side of the tiber, as a heart would if you faced a body. It's central location allowed it to grow out and be close to the
other inner city buildings and become the central place for all activity. It was the heart for thoughts and emotions because of the variety of people who
came, died and worshiped

Discussion Forum: Interpersonal Skills
Discussion Forum– Interpersonal skills
Interpersonal skills sometimes referred to as soft skills, communication skills, social skills, people skills, or life skills, are skills that we all develop
most often unconsciously from our early childhood (What are interpersonal skills, n.d). Interpersonal skills are part of emotional intelligence and are
needed for everyone who wishes to climb the ladder of success. People who possess interpersonal skills are calm, optimistic, articulate, friendly and
often charismatic (Top 10, n.d).
Many skills fall under the category of interpersonal skills. They are listening, assertiveness, negotiation, feedback, persuasion, interviewing, and
coaching. In addition to public speaking, counseling, selling, supervising people, self–management (which includes anger management, camouflaging
frustration, emanating calmness), tact, keeping face, self–confidence, positive attitude, communication (verbal speaking, non–verbal speaking, listening
and questioning), problem solving, decision making, teamwork, empathy, critical thinking, time...show more content...

Barney is dealing with several legal issues involving his property in this case. As a spiritual friend and attorney of Barney, I will advise him of his
legal rights and obligations regarding his property. Then, I will remind Barney not to make any sudden decisions before asking God for assistance.
James 5:11 (English Standard Version) states, "Behold, we consider those blessed who remained steadfast. You have heard of the steadfastness of
Job, and you have seen the purpose of the Lord, how the Lord is compassionate and merciful". The lord wants us to search for his kingdom first, and
then all things will be added according to his riches and glory.

Clearly Ernest has been protecting the land for a long time openly and in a hostile manner because Barney witnessed it when he tried to go fishing on
the property. According to the North Carolina law, Ernest has a right to remain on Barney's property.
The issue with the beach house may be difficult to triumph in court because of the eminent domain. According to Kubasek, Brennan, & Brown
(2012), "Under eminent domain, the government can seize property for just compensation if the purpose for doing so benefits the general welfare". In
order for Barney to triumph in court, he must prove building a Nickelodeon resort does not improve the general welfare of the community. This may be
difficult due to several factors such as the community feedback, environment factors, the size of the resort, funds, etc. At this point, Barney should
accept the compensation for his property at market value to avoid paying court costs, attorney fees, and or losing his property. Sometimes it is just
better to make the wise choice after looking at the entire situation.
Barney's last property issue is complicated because his car was stolen and then resold. Fortunately Barney car was found by police at a classic car
show in Mt. Olive, NC. The guy who was showing the car bought it from a used car dealership in Kinston, NC. Both of them are claiming no
involvement or knowledge of this 1963 Ford Galaxy been stolen. Barney can pursue with

Essay on The Many Forms of Art
Throughout the cultural history of man, objects have been created to entertain, record, confront, enrich, clarify, communicate, reveal, to order and
disorder, with or without a purpose. Yet the definition of what is art is obscure, we are able to recognise for ourselves but not express concisely
what art is. Art has 'a complicated network of overlapping series of similarities' (Law, 2003) however there is not one feature that all art has in
common. The classification of Art does not fit into the classic logic argument where to be defined as art the object must have a stated characteristic,
as in the manner of classifying a dog, computer, house or boat. A dog is a dog because it has some but not all of the characteristics of A, B,

Without being able to speak with the animal artists it is difficult to determine what they are seeking to express, and whether their work is intended to
communicate something to us or other animals, whether it is a self rewarding activity, or aesthetically motivated, (The Museum of Non–Primate Art,
(MONPA), 1999). A characteristic of art is it's nonconformity to a definable formula. Law (2003, p100) defines art in two parts, firstly as an artifact or
something that has been worked on and secondly as something that has been nominated with the status of 'art work' by the 'art world' – the artist,
curator, or 'expert,' but art may be art without being identified by the institution classified as the 'art world.' The art world's opinion of what is art
is dynamic and may change over time, an artist may create without believing their work to be art, for that object to later be determined to be art.
The 'qualifying conditions of what makes a work of art may change from time to time in an unsystematic way' (Brooks, 2008, p96). Craft is not art,
craft pertains to the making of decorative or practical objects with skill by hand, craft may be artistic in creation. There exists a difference between art
and a work of art, a work of art is able to be

The Roman Forum Essay
The Roman Forum The Forum Romanum, the Roman name for what we usually call the Roman Forum, was the center of the Roman Empire's power.
The Forum came into existence at a crossing of two important roads. One ran parallel to the Tiber River, the other perpendicular. From the beginning,
the Forum was required to satisfy two fundamental needs: the need for people to meet, and the need of them to exchange goods. The many separate
communities of the Italian peninsula where first united by the Etruscans in the seventh century B.C. Traditionally, these Etruscans always used a
central square for business matters. Tarquinius Priscus, the first Etruscan king, reclaimed the swampy valleys in the area that...show more content...
In the third century B.C., the time of the Punic wars, Roman power in the Mediterranean increased. This striving for power led to new building
projects and styles at the Forum in which Rome tried to display its power. In this time Rome started to turn the Forum into a monument.
During the period of 100 B.C. to 100 A.D., the Forum underwent some sweeping transformations, primarily caused by the downfall of the republic.
Its importance as a commercial center declined, and it was used more as political and administrative hub. However, government issues were no
longer public affairs, but rather controlled solely by the emperor. The Senate lost most of the power it used to possess, and The Comitium became
unnecessary. Furthermore, the Forum was not a meeting place for commoners anymore. It was seen as an area reserved for the inner circle, and was
controlled by the upper elite. This was largely started by the belief that the emperor possessed some sort of divine status.
In the two following centuries the Forum was still enriched with the temple of Antoninus and Faustina and the temple of Romulus, the arch of
Septimius Severus and the basilica of Maxentius. With the splitting up of the Roman Empire into an eastern– and a western part in 395 A.D., the power
of Rome declined considerably and with it the significance of the Roman Forum. Constantinople become the new 'center of the world.' The Forum

The World Economic Forum ( Wef )
"We have a single mission, to protect and hand on the planet to the next generation," said the President of France, François Hollande, at the World
Economic Forum (WEF). But are humans acting in order to overcome this mission? Since the new technological and productive developments,
conditioned especially after the First Industrial Revolution, a great charge of harmful impacts was influencing the sustainability of the planet.
However, the casualness that man has undertaken in its actions towards the environment and even towards his fellow have placed him face to face with
an imminent danger. In this imminent danger, it's possible to highlight the extreme weather events resulting from environmental disturbances that have
been accumulated by the society, and also by the increasing socio–economic inequalities polarized by economic globalization. In relation to several
climatic manifestations of extreme proportion, it's easy to realize that in a time perspective the consequences that today seem to be just momentary
they actually extend in space and time from direct or indirect dynamics. That's why for at least three decades, human activity has been the main factor in
climate change because of its greenhouse gas emissions, its growing consumption, and its energy use.
The largest known contribution in climate change comes from the burning of fossil fuels, which releases carbon dioxide gas to the atmosphere. With the
increase of these gases in the atmosphere, the greenhouse effect

Global Politics Essay
Global Politics
The study of international or rather global politics, seeks to provide an account of politics in the broadest domain. The domain of international politics
in the twenty–first century is characterised by the increasing number of actors pursuing common and personal interests. It is largely due to the
globalised, interdependent nature of the current international political environment that the concepts of sovereignty and power deserve further
evaluation.
The exercise of authority and power are facts as old as time, throughout the ages men have tried to explain and understand how and why political
authority is organised. Sovereignty is a concept used to explain political power, to...show more content...
But the appearance of the concept is still delayed until the community and its government, society and state, remaining necessarily distinct in some
respects, have integrated to a certain extent in others. It is only when the community responds to the state and the state responds to the community in
which it rules that the discussion of political power can take place in terms of sovereignty" (1986:21).
The importance of what Hinsley said lies in the fact that sovereignty cannot exists without a state and will not be found in societies in which there is
no state structure. Sovereignty is a political idea, a form of legitimation, a way of thinking about power and rule (Hinsley 1986:25). The question that
then must be asked is what caused people, rulers, philosophers and scholars to begin to think about power and rule in terms of state and sovereignty?
Since the Peace of Westphalia in 1648, the state has been regarded and accepted as the basic unit of international politics and the concept of the
sovereignty of states was formally recognised. But the ideas of state and sovereignty had been slowly emerging in Europe in the centuries preceding
1648. The concept of the state emerged out of the collapse of the feudal system (Nossal

Discussion Forum 4: Assessment Essay
Discussion Forum 4: Assessments Teachers meet the needs of a diverse student population by differentiating their instruction. It is important to first
develop the types of assessments a teacher will use in order to guide her instruction. Moon (2005) stated "allowing for multiple approaches to content,
process, or product from an instructional standpoint also allows for multiple approaches from an assessment standpoint" (p. 232). In order for the
assessments to inform instruction you have to view assessment in three ways: prior knowledge (before), tracking their learning (during), and measuring
their performance (after) (Brimijoin, Marquissee & Tomlinson, 2003, p. 71). A common pre–assessment is KWL charts. This method allows for the

Through this assessment the teacher is able to match each student with a text difficulty level. Therefore, the teacher can select an appropriate leveled
text for students to accomplish the same high standards they have set for every student. Through a running record, you are able to identify miscues the
students are making. All of the information gleaned from the running record can be used to form flexible groupings of students who all need the same
support. This assessment is based on Vygotsky's zone of proximal development. The teacher finds a text level where the student is not struggling and
analyzes the miscues they are making. This is where instruction begins and students' learning is scaffolded upon their previous knowledge. One
formative or ongoing assessment, teachers can use are "exit tickets". Students can respond, in personal journals or on small pieces of paper, to questions
posed by the teacher about their understanding of the subject matter. Again, this is metacognition, and it evaluates the effectiveness of our teaching and
instruction (Brimijoin et al., 2003, p. 71). A teachers' use of questioning and observing to differentiate, ensures that the instruction is meeting the
varying needs of all students (Brimijoin et al., 2003, p.

The Pros and Cons of Internet Chat Rooms
Computers have affected our lives in so many ways. To the way we finance things, to the way we find our future significant other. The outcomes of
computers probably happen with in the last five years, give or take some. It had made people become in love with being in a virtual world and new

to people. They got off easy though. There have been cases of people being stalked, raped and murder. Such as in this case [2], this college student
girl was online one night chatting. She came across a, what seamed to be, interesting man. In the end he was calling her at all times of the night, even
waiting outside her dorm room for her, for hours and hours at end. These are only a few of cases that involve these crimes, there have been so many
more.
Chatting on the Internet is not all–bad. There are many good things that can come out of it. For instance, being able to talk to people for different
countries, you can learn about their lifestyle. You can get the heritage of people that you never thought you could, by just entering a chartroom. If
taken the proper precautions you can even get best friends out of the deal. Or even for the lonely one out there, a new love. There are a few steps that
need to be taken when meeting someone. They are list below:
1.1. Always bring a friend along
2.2. Meet in a public, well lit place
3.3. Trust you instincts, if something seems wrong, RUN!!

A Discussion Of Similarities And Differences
The discussion of similarities and differences is always controversial inasmuch as the impact of individuality determines the evolvement of any kind of
relationship, and it cannot be stated that attitudes of one person towards a specific social phenomena of present or past are the same as attitudes of
another person. The basis for this notion is supported by evidence of the results of scientific researchers, as human patterns of thinking, feeling, and
behaving are different, and this difference is grounded in biologically mandated individual features. Although, there is something in common for
different social groups, and ethnicity or religion might be contemplated as a wide factor that units individuals. The fact that people are connected by
events of their past cannot be denied, however, the question is whether or not the form of this connection is applicable for every individual, and can the
significance of influence of individual features be eliminated while stating that relationship with the past is similar for different individuals. The
philosophical approach to this discussion might be used while contemplating two protagonists represented in short stories by Andrew Lam, which are
included in Birds of Paradise Lost. Tammy in Slingshot and Ivory in Sister have a lot in common, and the resemblance between them, which is greatly
emphasized by the author, is mainly based on the past they share and consequences it has on their contemporary lives.
Both stories are focused on

The Forum Pompeii
The Forum Historians consider the Forum to be the 'centre of Pompeian life' therefore it is an important aspect to study as numerous buildings and
many events occurred there. From the latest evidence, it is believed that the Pompeian Forum was undergoing a 'comprehensive, vigorous and
ambitious post–earthquake restoration.' (Bradley. 2005, p.87). The Forum at Herculaneum, however, is still buried under the town of Resina and
therefore there is not enough physical evidence to provide a great depth of information. Studies were concentrated on the Forum at Pompeii. The Forum

building supplies stored there.' However in the last decade, as noted in Pamela Bradley's book, it had been repaired and in working order when the
eruption occurred. The Sanctuary of the Public Lares was located in the North–East of the Forum in Pompeii. The Lares Publici were the protectors of
the crossroads (compita). Historians argue whether the building was either commenced after the earthquake of 62 AD or almost fully reconstructed
as a dedication to the tutelary gods of Pompeii due to the recent misfortune. The architecture was quite unusual showing changing designs. The
temple had no roof and had a floor with coloured marble arranged in a geometric pattern. It had no wall on the Forum side that left it entirely open. It
could be entered through a portico adjoining the colonnade of the Forum. On entering the temple there was two alcoves where statues of the Lares
would most likely have stood. Remains show a centred altar. The rear wall reveals a niche where statues of the town's gods would have been
positioned. The Temple of Vespasian was located in the East side of the Forum between the Eumachia and the Temple of the

Create a Great Signature
In the vein of transparency, develop a fantastic signature. It should state your title, brand, and company clearly.
This will alert users to your affiliation and create an air of trust with forum users. Make sure to include relevant information for contacting you and
encourage users to do just that. A signature that draws attention will not only increase user interaction but draw more interest to your brand.
Don't
Sell
Social media sites seem to encourage businesses to press the hard sell. Rather than engaging with users, companies often solely post ads,
coupons, and giveaways as opposed to interacting with customers. This system doesn't work on online forums. Companies that try to spam the board
with covert ads get banned and burned. Offer information on forums. Become an in–house expert on your brand and the industry at large to provide
forum users with an insider's look at the industry.
Be Friendly
While your main motivation is exposing your brand, remember that forum
users have a vested interest in the topic. This may lead to complaints about your brand, comparisons between you and your competitors, and some users
that simply aren't interested in becoming a customer. Don't get defensive or hostile. Never put down competitors or engage in heated arguments with
forum users. Be a beacon of information rather than a source of conflict. Provide accurate, polite responses with forum users.
Find

Also, individuals on this forum often reply to original threads started years ago. Unlike some forums, this is actually encouraged by the staff members,
but it makes following a thread difficult at times.
Compared to Traditional Reviews The reviews I read on the forum were less concerned with a succinct, comprehensive overview of the book like one
would expect in a professional review on a site like Kirkus. Rather, they focused on an emotional attachment to the book as a reason to review or
recommend it to others. For example, in a discussion on Charlotte's Web, one individual explains that she hated the book because she was forced to
read it several times in elementary school (evie, 2004). Although the opinions on the forum were hardly reviews in the professional sense of the word,
I was surprised that they so frequently included some sort of visceral reaction to the book. Often there was little explanation concerning the particulars
of the story and the author chose to focus instead on the fact that a main character made them angry or that the ending was unexpected or happy. It is
difficult to determine which review has the greater authority. If an individual were simply trying to discern whether the plot would be interesting, then
certainly a professional review would be more authoritative. However, the conversational reviews I read between friends reminded me of the power of
a personal opinion. While

Unit 3 Discussion Forum Assignment
Unit 3 Discussion Forum Assignment by Jessica Lofton (Instructor) – Wednesday, 20 April 2016, 9:01 AM
There are always multiple questions and concerns regarding peer assessments. So let's open a discussion about the following:
1.What criteria do you consider to be of more importance? Ideas, proper English grammar or both? Support your answer.
The mind that can generate ideas is very important but the use of proper English grammar is no less significant. One of the main objectives of a
University education is to develop the communication skills of its students. An idea has no value when it cannot be expressed in the English language
that is most widely spoken in the world and it's the main language of the academia and scholarly research. Proper skills in English grammar gives
wings to ideas. The mind that can grow ideas is high in demand but you need to know proper syntax of language to cultivate the idea. When a
University graduate speaks and writes English flawlessly he or she is leaving traces that can be tracked back to his or her University education and
perhaps leaving a mark in the history or a dent in the Universe.
2.How would you assess a forum response or a peer assignment which is counter to your personal values? What feedback would you give in this
situation?...show more content...
This generates a plethora of views toward a single object or subject that gets engraved in our psychology and becomes our personal values. I strongly
believe that one should be completely open to understanding and realize that there can be different views or approaches toward a single matter. One

analyze and discuss the topic with convincing arguments that may lead to a uniform

Voting Rights Act Pros And Cons
I have come to a realization that the United States of America has taken a huge step back into history. Instead of learning from our past and growing
we have elected a President that only brings racist remarks symbolizing everything that the United States does not identify as. Due to the election it
has brought us much awareness of how ignorant the people who were elected into office to be the people's voice. We have accomplished many things
as a society, but still render the key elements to take the blindfold of the ignorance that hovers around people. The Voting Rights acthas been
dismantled and sadly, we are returning to our racists background, or maybe we just never acknowledged them until we elected a blatant racist president.

laws was a suggestion to prevent voting fraud which was assessed to having 1 to 2 cases not 1,000 to 2,000 but simply 1 to 2 cases (John,2017). It's a
non–ethical approach because there have only been 1 to 2 cases of fraud which does not call for an extreme tactic of presenting I.D laws (John,2017).
The Daily show dived into how the voting I.D laws was a strategic ideal to incorporate all these restrictions to stop the Democratic party (John,2017).
By going after black & Latino they would overall halt the Democratic party because they mainly vote democrat (John,2017). Thankfully the voting ID

Roman Forum Essay

 • 1. Roman Forum Essay To what extent was the Roman Forum the heart of the Republic? The Forum Romanum (Roman Forum). Heart of Rome and the focal point for all economic, political and religious processions. It was the core of the ancient city and became over time the centre of the vast Roman empire. Originally a marketplace for farmers, it grew like a seed to form a place for justice, amusement, festivals and funerals. Here, elections were held, triumphal processions took place and the Senate assembled. The great evolution of the forum to become the heart of Rome was a result of the important waterway underneath; Cloaca Maxima, the Forum being home to religious, cult and other forms of worship, the temples ranging from the Temple of Jupiter to the Vesta, a place for political and other senators working from the preaching on the Rosta to the work done in the Tabularium and a hub for economic and judicial purposes. The Forum was not only a place for the senators and political rulers of Rome to come together, but it was also a meeting place for all the people of Rome and the ancient world.Even after the Late Republic, the Forum continued to be a symbol of Rome's wealth and prosperity – ranking today as one of the most visited archaeological sites in the world [1]....show more content... It is also described the central or innermost part of something. These definitions are both accurate to describe the Forum's role and place in the Roman Late Republic. Situated just above Campitelli and to the left of the Colosseum, the Forum is as 'heart' as you could get in the city. Looking north, it sits on the right hand side of the tiber, as a heart would if you faced a body. It's central location allowed it to grow out and be close to the other inner city buildings and become the central place for all activity. It was the heart for thoughts and emotions because of the variety of people who came, died and worshiped Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Interpersonal skills are part of emotional intelligence and are needed for everyone who wishes to climb the ladder of success. People who possess interpersonal skills are calm, optimistic, articulate, friendly and often charismatic (Top 10, n.d). Many skills fall under the category of interpersonal skills. They are listening, assertiveness, negotiation, feedback, persuasion, interviewing, and coaching. In addition to public speaking, counseling, selling, supervising people, self–management (which includes anger management, camouflaging frustration, emanating calmness), tact, keeping face, self–confidence, positive attitude, communication (verbal speaking, non–verbal speaking, listening and questioning), problem solving, decision making, teamwork, empathy, critical thinking, time...show more content... • 3. Discussion Board Forum 3 Harriet Sanders Liberty University Barney is dealing with several legal issues involving his property in this case. As a spiritual friend and attorney of Barney, I will advise him of his legal rights and obligations regarding his property. Then, I will remind Barney not to make any sudden decisions before asking God for assistance. James 5:11 (English Standard Version) states, "Behold, we consider those blessed who remained steadfast. You have heard of the steadfastness of Job, and you have seen the purpose of the Lord, how the Lord is compassionate and merciful". The lord wants us to search for his kingdom first, and then all things will be added according to his riches and glory. Looking at the first issue...show more content... Clearly Ernest has been protecting the land for a long time openly and in a hostile manner because Barney witnessed it when he tried to go fishing on the property. According to the North Carolina law, Ernest has a right to remain on Barney's property. The issue with the beach house may be difficult to triumph in court because of the eminent domain. According to Kubasek, Brennan, & Brown (2012), "Under eminent domain, the government can seize property for just compensation if the purpose for doing so benefits the general welfare". In order for Barney to triumph in court, he must prove building a Nickelodeon resort does not improve the general welfare of the community. This may be difficult due to several factors such as the community feedback, environment factors, the size of the resort, funds, etc. At this point, Barney should accept the compensation for his property at market value to avoid paying court costs, attorney fees, and or losing his property. Sometimes it is just better to make the wise choice after looking at the entire situation. Barney's last property issue is complicated because his car was stolen and then resold. Fortunately Barney car was found by police at a classic car show in Mt. Olive, NC. The guy who was showing the car bought it from a used car dealership in Kinston, NC. Both of them are claiming no involvement or knowledge of this 1963 Ford Galaxy been stolen. Barney can pursue with Get more content on HelpWriting.net
 • 4. Essay on The Many Forms of Art Throughout the cultural history of man, objects have been created to entertain, record, confront, enrich, clarify, communicate, reveal, to order and disorder, with or without a purpose. Yet the definition of what is art is obscure, we are able to recognise for ourselves but not express concisely what art is. Art has 'a complicated network of overlapping series of similarities' (Law, 2003) however there is not one feature that all art has in common. The classification of Art does not fit into the classic logic argument where to be defined as art the object must have a stated characteristic, as in the manner of classifying a dog, computer, house or boat. A dog is a dog because it has some but not all of the characteristics of A, B, ...show more content... Without being able to speak with the animal artists it is difficult to determine what they are seeking to express, and whether their work is intended to communicate something to us or other animals, whether it is a self rewarding activity, or aesthetically motivated, (The Museum of Non–Primate Art, (MONPA), 1999). A characteristic of art is it's nonconformity to a definable formula. Law (2003, p100) defines art in two parts, firstly as an artifact or something that has been worked on and secondly as something that has been nominated with the status of 'art work' by the 'art world' – the artist, curator, or 'expert,' but art may be art without being identified by the institution classified as the 'art world.' The art world's opinion of what is art is dynamic and may change over time, an artist may create without believing their work to be art, for that object to later be determined to be art. The 'qualifying conditions of what makes a work of art may change from time to time in an unsystematic way' (Brooks, 2008, p96). Craft is not art, craft pertains to the making of decorative or practical objects with skill by hand, craft may be artistic in creation. There exists a difference between art and a work of art, a work of art is able to be Get more content on HelpWriting.net

 • 6. The Roman Forum Essay The Roman Forum The Forum Romanum, the Roman name for what we usually call the Roman Forum, was the center of the Roman Empire's power. The Forum came into existence at a crossing of two important roads. One ran parallel to the Tiber River, the other perpendicular. From the beginning, the Forum was required to satisfy two fundamental needs: the need for people to meet, and the need of them to exchange goods. The many separate communities of the Italian peninsula where first united by the Etruscans in the seventh century B.C. Traditionally, these Etruscans always used a central square for business matters. Tarquinius Priscus, the first Etruscan king, reclaimed the swampy valleys in the area that...show more content... In the third century B.C., the time of the Punic wars, Roman power in the Mediterranean increased. This striving for power led to new building projects and styles at the Forum in which Rome tried to display its power. In this time Rome started to turn the Forum into a monument. During the period of 100 B.C. to 100 A.D., the Forum underwent some sweeping transformations, primarily caused by the downfall of the republic. Its importance as a commercial center declined, and it was used more as political and administrative hub. However, government issues were no longer public affairs, but rather controlled solely by the emperor. The Senate lost most of the power it used to possess, and The Comitium became unnecessary. Furthermore, the Forum was not a meeting place for commoners anymore. It was seen as an area reserved for the inner circle, and was controlled by the upper elite. This was largely started by the belief that the emperor possessed some sort of divine status. In the two following centuries the Forum was still enriched with the temple of Antoninus and Faustina and the temple of Romulus, the arch of Septimius Severus and the basilica of Maxentius. With the splitting up of the Roman Empire into an eastern– and a western part in 395 A.D., the power of Rome declined considerably and with it the significance of the Roman Forum. Constantinople become the new 'center of the world.' The Forum started to Get more content on HelpWriting.net
 • 7. The World Economic Forum ( Wef ) "We have a single mission, to protect and hand on the planet to the next generation," said the President of France, FranГ§ois Hollande, at the World Economic Forum (WEF). But are humans acting in order to overcome this mission? Since the new technological and productive developments, conditioned especially after the First Industrial Revolution, a great charge of harmful impacts was influencing the sustainability of the planet. However, the casualness that man has undertaken in its actions towards the environment and even towards his fellow have placed him face to face with an imminent danger. In this imminent danger, it's possible to highlight the extreme weather events resulting from environmental disturbances that have been accumulated by the society, and also by the increasing socio–economic inequalities polarized by economic globalization. In relation to several climatic manifestations of extreme proportion, it's easy to realize that in a time perspective the consequences that today seem to be just momentary they actually extend in space and time from direct or indirect dynamics. That's why for at least three decades, human activity has been the main factor in climate change because of its greenhouse gas emissions, its growing consumption, and its energy use. The largest known contribution in climate change comes from the burning of fossil fuels, which releases carbon dioxide gas to the atmosphere. With the increase of these gases in the atmosphere, the greenhouse effect Get more content on HelpWriting.net
 • 8. Global Politics Essay Global Politics The study of international or rather global politics, seeks to provide an account of politics in the broadest domain. The domain of international politics in the twenty–first century is characterised by the increasing number of actors pursuing common and personal interests. It is largely due to the globalised, interdependent nature of the current international political environment that the concepts of sovereignty and power deserve further evaluation. The exercise of authority and power are facts as old as time, throughout the ages men have tried to explain and understand how and why political authority is organised. Sovereignty is a concept used to explain political power, to...show more content... But the appearance of the concept is still delayed until the community and its government, society and state, remaining necessarily distinct in some respects, have integrated to a certain extent in others. It is only when the community responds to the state and the state responds to the community in which it rules that the discussion of political power can take place in terms of sovereignty" (1986:21). The importance of what Hinsley said lies in the fact that sovereignty cannot exists without a state and will not be found in societies in which there is no state structure. Sovereignty is a political idea, a form of legitimation, a way of thinking about power and rule (Hinsley 1986:25). The question that then must be asked is what caused people, rulers, philosophers and scholars to begin to think about power and rule in terms of state and sovereignty? Since the Peace of Westphalia in 1648, the state has been regarded and accepted as the basic unit of international politics and the concept of the sovereignty of states was formally recognised. But the ideas of state and sovereignty had been slowly emerging in Europe in the centuries preceding 1648. The concept of the state emerged out of the collapse of the feudal system (Nossal Get more content on HelpWriting.net
 • 9. Discussion Forum 4: Assessment Essay Discussion Forum 4: Assessments Teachers meet the needs of a diverse student population by differentiating their instruction. It is important to first develop the types of assessments a teacher will use in order to guide her instruction. Moon (2005) stated "allowing for multiple approaches to content, process, or product from an instructional standpoint also allows for multiple approaches from an assessment standpoint" (p. 232). In order for the assessments to inform instruction you have to view assessment in three ways: prior knowledge (before), tracking their learning (during), and measuring their performance (after) (Brimijoin, Marquissee & Tomlinson, 2003, p. 71). A common pre–assessment is KWL charts. This method allows for the assessment...show more content... Through this assessment the teacher is able to match each student with a text difficulty level. Therefore, the teacher can select an appropriate leveled text for students to accomplish the same high standards they have set for every student. Through a running record, you are able to identify miscues the students are making. All of the information gleaned from the running record can be used to form flexible groupings of students who all need the same support. This assessment is based on Vygotsky's zone of proximal development. The teacher finds a text level where the student is not struggling and analyzes the miscues they are making. This is where instruction begins and students' learning is scaffolded upon their previous knowledge. One formative or ongoing assessment, teachers can use are "exit tickets". Students can respond, in personal journals or on small pieces of paper, to questions posed by the teacher about their understanding of the subject matter. Again, this is metacognition, and it evaluates the effectiveness of our teaching and instruction (Brimijoin et al., 2003, p. 71). A teachers' use of questioning and observing to differentiate, ensures that the instruction is meeting the varying needs of all students (Brimijoin et al., 2003, p. There have been cases of people being stalked, raped and murder. Such as in this case [2], this college student girl was online one night chatting. She came across a, what seamed to be, interesting man. In the end he was calling her at all times of the night, even waiting outside her dorm room for her, for hours and hours at end. These are only a few of cases that involve these crimes, there have been so many more. Chatting on the Internet is not all–bad. There are many good things that can come out of it. For instance, being able to talk to people for different countries, you can learn about their lifestyle. You can get the heritage of people that you never thought you could, by just entering a chartroom. If taken the proper precautions you can even get best friends out of the deal. Or even for the lonely one out there, a new love. There are a few steps that need to be taken when meeting someone. They are list below: 1.1. Always bring a friend along 2.2. • 12. A Discussion Of Similarities And Differences The discussion of similarities and differences is always controversial inasmuch as the impact of individuality determines the evolvement of any kind of relationship, and it cannot be stated that attitudes of one person towards a specific social phenomena of present or past are the same as attitudes of another person. The basis for this notion is supported by evidence of the results of scientific researchers, as human patterns of thinking, feeling, and behaving are different, and this difference is grounded in biologically mandated individual features. Although, there is something in common for different social groups, and ethnicity or religion might be contemplated as a wide factor that units individuals. The fact that people are connected by events of their past cannot be denied, however, the question is whether or not the form of this connection is applicable for every individual, and can the significance of influence of individual features be eliminated while stating that relationship with the past is similar for different individuals. The philosophical approach to this discussion might be used while contemplating two protagonists represented in short stories by Andrew Lam, which are included in Birds of Paradise Lost. Tammy in Slingshot and Ivory in Sister have a lot in common, and the resemblance between them, which is greatly emphasized by the author, is mainly based on the past they share and consequences it has on their contemporary lives. There was also concern if current education can develop a nurse's preparedness in delivering quality care (Griffiths et al, 2012). One of the participants stated "you might be the best clinician in the world but if you can't communicate and you can't listen properly to people and you don't take on board and understand what they're saying you may as well go dig the street" (Griffiths et al, 2012). Furthermore another participant stated "...each individual should be [evaluated] and their needs be assessed and implemented on that particular individual...I just feel it's a conveyor belt system. In another qualitative review which explored nurse's perspectives on patient–centred care, suggested time management was the largest barrier preventing them from communicating effectively with their patients (Chan et al, 2012). One nurse stated "sometimes, I have to deal with 20 patients in one single shift... if one needs 10 minutes and there are 20 patients in total, how much time would we have to spend on this? Don't we need to do other tasks?" (Chan et al, 2012). • 15. The Forum Pompeii The Forum Historians consider the Forum to be the 'centre of Pompeian life' therefore it is an important aspect to study as numerous buildings and many events occurred there. From the latest evidence, it is believed that the Pompeian Forum was undergoing a 'comprehensive, vigorous and ambitious post–earthquake restoration.' (Bradley. 2005, p.87). The Forum at Herculaneum, however, is still buried under the town of Resina and therefore there is not enough physical evidence to provide a great depth of information. Studies were concentrated on the Forum at Pompeii. The Forum dates back to the 2nd century BCE. It underwent numerous alterations during the city's history and at the time of the eruption was in the process of receiving an...show more content... 2005, p.152) and held sacrificial equipment and Pompeii's public treasures. The temple was severely damaged in the 62AD earthquake. It was described in Pompeii: The Vanished City (1992, p60) as being 'turned into a workshop, with uncut blocks of basalt and stonecutting tools, and other building supplies stored there.' However in the last decade, as noted in Pamela Bradley's book, it had been repaired and in working order when the eruption occurred. The Sanctuary of the Public Lares was located in the North–East of the Forum in Pompeii. The Lares Publici were the protectors of the crossroads (compita). Historians argue whether the building was either commenced after the earthquake of 62 AD or almost fully reconstructed as a dedication to the tutelary gods of Pompeii due to the recent misfortune. The architecture was quite unusual showing changing designs. The temple had no roof and had a floor with coloured marble arranged in a geometric pattern. It had no wall on the Forum side that left it entirely open. It could be entered through a portico adjoining the colonnade of the Forum. On entering the temple there was two alcoves where statues of the Lares would most likely have stood. Remains show a centred altar. The rear wall reveals a niche where statues of the town's gods would have been positioned. • 16. Essay on Build Your Brand Using Forums In the age of social media, the forums is often ignored when talking marketing. Instead, business marketers spout about hashtags, Facebook analytics, and how to best navigate Pinterest. Leaving the forum out of your marketing campaign is short–sighted. Forums are a unique way to access a customer base not easily available on Facebook and Twitter. Use these tips to build a strong brand and customer base using online forums.
Find Your Niche
While social media sites do have ways to divide users by likes and interests, forums provide a way to access users who are actively interested in your brand. Forum users seek out information about a subject and interact with other like–minded people. Whatever your business, find a handful of...show more content...
Create a Great Signature
In the vein of transparency, develop a fantastic signature. It should state your title, brand, and company clearly. This will alert users to your affiliation and create an air of trust with forum users. Make sure to include relevant information for contacting you and encourage users to do just that. A signature that draws attention will not only increase user interaction but draw more interest to your brand.
Don't Sell
Social media sites seem to encourage businesses to press the hard sell. Rather than engaging with users, companies often solely post ads, coupons, and giveaways as opposed to interacting with customers. This system doesn't work on online forums. Companies that try to spam the board with covert ads get banned and burned. Offer information on forums. Become an in–house expert on your brand and the industry at large to provide forum users with an insider's look at the industry.
Be Friendly
While your main motivation is exposing your brand, remember that forum users have a vested interest in the topic. This may lead to complaints about your brand, comparisons between you and your competitors, and some users that simply aren't interested in becoming a customer. Don't get defensive or hostile. Never put down competitors or engage in heated arguments with forum users. Be a beacon of information rather than a source of conflict. Provide accurate, polite responses with forum users.
Find Get more content on HelpWriting.net
 • 17. Online Teen Forum Review Essay The Book & Reader forums is a place designed for users of all ages to discuss books. Within the forums of this website there is one forum described as being intended for children and young adult books. This forum seems to receive a limited amount of traffic. A search using the forum's search feature revealed that since the beginning of the year there have been 33 posts. While some of these posts were written by adults, I also a detected several that appeared to have been written by teens. The forum does not require members to post their age; however, in older posts I noted that several teens mentioned their age. Posters are only able to be identified by as much information as they are willing to share, so it is difficult to determine...show more content... Also, individuals on this forum often reply to original threads started years ago. Unlike some forums, this is actually encouraged by the staff members, but it makes following a thread difficult at times. Compared to Traditional Reviews The reviews I read on the forum were less concerned with a succinct, comprehensive overview of the book like one would expect in a professional review on a site like Kirkus. Rather, they focused on an emotional attachment to the book as a reason to review or recommend it to others. For example, in a discussion on Charlotte's Web, one individual explains that she hated the book because she was forced to read it several times in elementary school (evie, 2004). Although the opinions on the forum were hardly reviews in the professional sense of the word, I was surprised that they so frequently included some sort of visceral reaction to the book. Often there was little explanation concerning the particulars of the story and the author chose to focus instead on the fact that a main character made them angry or that the ending was unexpected or happy. It is difficult to determine which review has the greater authority. If an individual were simply trying to discern whether the plot would be interesting, then certainly a professional review would be more authoritative. However, the conversational reviews I read between friends reminded me of the power of a personal opinion. While Get more content on HelpWriting.net
 • 18. Unit 3 Discussion Forum Assignment Unit 3 Discussion Forum Assignment by Jessica Lofton (Instructor) – Wednesday, 20 April 2016, 9:01 AM There are always multiple questions and concerns regarding peer assessments. So let's open a discussion about the following: 1.What criteria do you consider to be of more importance? Ideas, proper English grammar or both? Support your answer. The mind that can generate ideas is very important but the use of proper English grammar is no less significant. One of the main objectives of a University education is to develop the communication skills of its students. An idea has no value when it cannot be expressed in the English language that is most widely spoken in the world and it's the main language of the academia and scholarly research. Proper skills in English grammar gives wings to ideas. The mind that can grow ideas is high in demand but you need to know proper syntax of language to cultivate the idea. When a University graduate speaks and writes English flawlessly he or she is leaving traces that can be tracked back to his or her University education and perhaps leaving a mark in the history or a dent in the Universe. 2.How would you assess a forum response or a peer assignment which is counter to your personal values? What feedback would you give in this situation?...show more content... • 19. Voting Rights Act Pros And Cons I have come to a realization that the United States of America has taken a huge step back into history. Instead of learning from our past and growing we have elected a President that only brings racist remarks symbolizing everything that the United States does not identify as. Due to the election it has brought us much awareness of how ignorant the people who were elected into office to be the people's voice. We have accomplished many things as a society, but still render the key elements to take the blindfold of the ignorance that hovers around people. The Voting Rights acthas been dismantled and sadly, we are returning to our racists background, or maybe we just never acknowledged them until we elected a blatant racist president. As everyone may know The Daily Show is a widely popular show that informs viewers of current news through humour (John,2017). The Daily show had an episode dedicated to why Shelby county wanted to get rid of sec 4(b) and 5 of the voting rights act (John,2017). Supposedly Voting I.D laws was a suggestion to prevent voting fraud which was assessed to having 1 to 2 cases not 1,000 to 2,000 but simply 1 to 2 cases (John,2017). It's a non–ethical approach because there have only been 1 to 2 cases of fraud which does not call for an extreme tactic of presenting I.D laws (John,2017). The Daily show dived into how the voting I.D laws was a strategic ideal to incorporate all these restrictions to stop the Democratic party (John,2017). By going after black & Latino they would overall halt the Democratic party because they mainly vote democrat (John,2017).
