The document outlines two initial video game ideas: 1) an MMO RPG where players can customize their character and weapons, as depicted in an animation of a sword-wielding character that can absorb attacks; and 2) a 2D hack-and-slash platformer similar to Mega Man X4 where the player dodges around enemies attacking with a sword. The document then provides mind maps, a mood board analyzing use of red and blue colors and swords, a production schedule, and bibliography of relevant games.
2. Initial Reaction
• One video game idea that I have is an MMO with turn-based RPG
elements that involve you creating your own character and customising
said character (as well as the (upgradable) weapon(s) that you use) to your
personal preferences. In my animation, the character I've decided to
create is a character that uses a sword that was upgraded to be able to
absorb attacks and make your own sword-attacks stronger.
• Another video game idea that I have is a 2D hack-and-slash platformer
game, which would be a hybrid between hack-and-slashers like Metal
Gear Rising or No More Heroes and platformer games like Super Mario
Bros. and Mega Man. The game would play rather similarly to Zero's
gameplay in the video game Mega Man X4, as he wields a light-saber-type
sword known as the Z-Saber. The game would operate in a 2.5D-style
manner, similar to the New Super Mario Bros. series of games, as the
game would include a dodge mechanic where the character you control
would dodge around the enemies as they try to attack him, rather than
over or under.
6. Mood Board Analysis
Several of the images in my mood board contain a lot of red or
blue, and swords (or at least some form of melee weapon such
as a shovel or a scythe) feature in a lot of the pictures of the
characters, with some of the pictures in my mood board being of
swords and nothing else (like the Murasama sword from Metal
Gear Rising: Revengeance, and Yoru from the anime One Piece)
How will your mood board influence your final product?
The way my mood board will most likely influence my final
product is by including a lot of red and blue in the scene that I'll
be animating.
