ICT is an umbrella term that
includes all technologies for the
communication of information.
This includes the use of hardware
and software for efficient
management of information.
ICT stands for:

C: Communication
T: Technology
Definition of ICT:
Information and Communication
technologies are defined as all
devices, tools, content, resources,
forum and services, digital and
those that can be converted into or
delivered through digital forums,
which can be deployed for
realizing the goals of teaching
learning, enhancing access to and
reach of resources, building of
capacities, as well as management
of the educational system.
These will not only include
hardware devices connected to
computers, and software
applications, but also interactive
digital content, internet and other
satellite communication devices ,
radio and television services, web
based content repositories,
interactive forums, learning
management systems, and
management information systems.
These will also include processes
for digitization,deployment and
management of content,
development and deployment of
platforms and processes for
capacity development, and
creation of forums for interaction
and exchange.
Aims and purposes of ICT in
Education:
The ICT curriculum for students is
conceived as an important vehicle
for students for the realization of
the goals of the National
Curriculum Framework. It
attempts to introduce students to a
dynamic, immensely popular fields,
exposing them to a wide range of
information and resources,
motivating them to explore and
participate in.
Aims for Students:
Effectively use ICT tools,
software applications and
digital resources
Integrate ICT into teaching-
learning and its evaluation
Acquire, organize and create
her own digital resources
Participate in the activities of
teachers’ networks
Participate in the evaluation
and selection of ICT resources
Practice safe, ethical and legal
ways of using ICT
Use ICT for making classroom
processes more inclusive and to
address multiple learning
abilities.
Aims for Students:
To develop skills that will
enable them to function as
discerning students in an
increasingly digital society
To access various tools and
applications for learning and
skill development opportunities
To operate a variety of
hardware and software
independently and troubleshoot
common problems and using
the ICT facility with care,
ensuring the safety of
themselves, others and the
equipment
To create a variety of digital
products using appropriate
tools and applications and
saving, storing and managing
digital resources
To practice safe, legal and
ethical means of using ICT

ICT Aims & Purpose

  • 1. ICT is an umbrella term that includes all technologies for the communication of information. This includes the use of hardware and software for efficient management of information. ICT stands for: I: Information C: Communication T: Technology Definition of ICT: Information and Communication technologies are defined as all devices, tools, content, resources, forum and services, digital and those that can be converted into or delivered through digital forums, which can be deployed for realizing the goals of teaching learning, enhancing access to and reach of resources, building of capacities, as well as management of the educational system. These will not only include hardware devices connected to computers, and software applications, but also interactive digital content, internet and other satellite communication devices , radio and television services, web based content repositories, interactive forums, learning management systems, and management information systems. These will also include processes for digitization,deployment and management of content, development and deployment of platforms and processes for capacity development, and creation of forums for interaction and exchange. Aims and purposes of ICT in Education: The ICT curriculum for students is conceived as an important vehicle
  • 2. for students for the realization of the goals of the National Curriculum Framework. It attempts to introduce students to a dynamic, immensely popular fields, exposing them to a wide range of information and resources, motivating them to explore and participate in. Aims for Students: Effectively use ICT tools, software applications and digital resources Integrate ICT into teaching- learning and its evaluation Acquire, organize and create her own digital resources Participate in the activities of teachers’ networks Participate in the evaluation and selection of ICT resources Practice safe, ethical and legal ways of using ICT Use ICT for making classroom processes more inclusive and to address multiple learning abilities. Aims for Students: To develop skills that will enable them to function as discerning students in an increasingly digital society To access various tools and applications for learning and skill development opportunities To operate a variety of hardware and software independently and troubleshoot common problems and using the ICT facility with care, ensuring the safety of themselves, others and the equipment To create a variety of digital products using appropriate tools and applications and saving, storing and managing digital resources To practice safe, legal and ethical means of using ICT
