 Rehabilitation of the UrbanWater Supply & Sanitation in Sava River Basin (BMZ ID 2002 65 876)
 Water Supply Scope:
 Existing gravity feed Transmission main between Source Mraovo Polje and the City is approx. 25 years old and in a poor
condition resulting in approx. 5 numbers of significant repairs works per year. To ensure the water supply of the city of
Kostajnica it is necessary to replace approx. 6,500 m of the transmission main.
 Many pipe bursts in the drinking water network occur every year in the city centre of Kostajnica. These parts of the city network
consist of approx. 30 years old CI pipes. So it is necessary to replace these parts of the city network. Approx. 2400 m (OD90,
180mm) pipes and furthermore 200 house connections in these parts must be replaced
 Project Budget for WS scope – 1.000.000,00EUR
 Waste Water Scope:
 The existing sewer system has the following defects: Inflow and Infiltration of the sewer system; Cycle flow; Pipe clogging;
Pollution of the Tavija River
 Construction of a new collector from west to east main collector with HDPE pipe material and a diameter ranging from OD 400
to OD 800 shall be laid in the northern part of the city, stretching approximately 4,850m from west to east.
 In the south of Kostajnica, on the right bank of the Tavija River, a new combined sewer system consisting of a main collector
and a secondary network will be constructed. The wastewater produced by the new settlements in the south of Kostajnica will
be collected by the secondary network, which has a diameter of OD 300. The secondary network will be connected to the main
collector, which will be laid along the Tavija river from south to north and has a diameter ranging from OD 400 to OD 600.

WasteWater Project
East –West Collector
Originally waste water system (combined
type) has suffered from Inflow and
Infiltration of the sewer system due to the
poor construction quality of the concrete
pipe joints. Due to poor and wrong
construction, in some sewage pipes the
wastewater flows in both directions and
causes cycle flow. Due to heavy
overloading, the collector located in
Svetosavska Main Street was often
clogged.
Under this Project relieve of the existing
system was planned, decrease of pollution
by replacement of existing collectors and
house connections, waste water transport
and discharging at 4nr locations with
combined system Collectors - Corrugated

  • 2.  Rehabilitation of the UrbanWater Supply & Sanitation in Sava River Basin (BMZ ID 2002 65 876)  Water Supply Scope:  Existing gravity feed Transmission main between Source Mraovo Polje and the City is approx. 25 years old and in a poor condition resulting in approx. 5 numbers of significant repairs works per year. To ensure the water supply of the city of Kostajnica it is necessary to replace approx. 6,500 m of the transmission main.  Many pipe bursts in the drinking water network occur every year in the city centre of Kostajnica. These parts of the city network consist of approx. 30 years old CI pipes. So it is necessary to replace these parts of the city network. Approx. 2400 m (OD90, 180mm) pipes and furthermore 200 house connections in these parts must be replaced  Project Budget for WS scope – 1.000.000,00EUR  Waste Water Scope:  The existing sewer system has the following defects: Inflow and Infiltration of the sewer system; Cycle flow; Pipe clogging; Pollution of the Tavija River  Construction of a new collector from west to east main collector with HDPE pipe material and a diameter ranging from OD 400 to OD 800 shall be laid in the northern part of the city, stretching approximately 4,850m from west to east.  In the south of Kostajnica, on the right bank of the Tavija River, a new combined sewer system consisting of a main collector and a secondary network will be constructed. The wastewater produced by the new settlements in the south of Kostajnica will be collected by the secondary network, which has a diameter of OD 300. The secondary network will be connected to the main collector, which will be laid along the Tavija river from south to north and has a diameter ranging from OD 400 to OD 600.  Project Budget for WW scope – 1.000.000,00EUR

WasteWater Project East –West Collector Originally waste water system (combined type) has suffered from Inflow and Infiltration of the sewer system due to the poor construction quality of the concrete pipe joints. Due to poor and wrong construction, in some sewage pipes the wastewater flows in both directions and causes cycle flow. Due to heavy overloading, the collector located in Svetosavska Main Street was often clogged. Under this Project relieve of the existing system was planned, decrease of pollution by replacement of existing collectors and house connections, waste water transport and discharging at 4nr locations with combined system Collectors - Corrugated HDPE100, SN8: -ID300 mm – 8m -ID400mm – 94m; -ID500mm – 1.075m; -ID600mm – 61m; -ID800mm – 1.640m; -ID1000mm – 115m -In total – 2.993m of collectors installed with 28nr of House Connections (PVC ID 100mm) and 5nr Road Gullies
