3. Cape Medical Plan – McIntyre Road, Plattekloof
MEMBER RELATIONS MANAGER April 2007 – July 2013
Initially hired as a sales consultant for the first two years of my term at CMP, I was able to learn about the products and
services that make the industry tick.
With a change in general management, the sales department was downsized and as a result I was offered the chance to learn
more about the processes that kept the company running on a daily basis.
Customer/Member relations involved handling all sides of clientele queries, from accounts and membership to procedure
related information, chronic medications and even simply how to find our office premises.
Using CMP's unique database system, iMed, we were able to interpret claims directly from practitioner offices, member
history, and pre-load medical procedure authorisations.
I was also involved in other IT related processes from time to time such as iMed system testing as databases moved from
Sybase to a SQLdatabase.
I was part of the website design and implementation team and would do a lot of testing to ensure the site was running
efficiently while providing feedback on user and customerexperiences.
An opportunity was proposed to me for the position of a system's analyst which would have involved the updating and
refinement of the iMed system as a liaison with the outsourced IT development team.
Unfortunately, due to other projects and circumstances this position was not made available to anyone.
I remained a member relations consultant and continued to provide IT knowledge where and when it was necessary.
Every day at CMP was a good one, however upon receiving the offer to manage a cellular phone, tablet and laptop
replacement company that services multiple well renowned insurance companies, I decided to try the move.
Duties
Daily telephonic, electronic and face-to-face customer related duties consisted of the following:
*Sales representative with strong product knowledge
*Claim submission and assessment queries
*Pre-authorisation and procedure information
*Chronic Medication
*Membership related inquiries
*Policy benefits and conditions queries
*CMS related queries
*Provided company details and information
*Worked closely with Case Managers and Claims Managers in order to provide accurate information
*Consulted with the outsourced IT development team on the unique system, iMed (System Analysis)
*Consulted with the outsourced web development team and marketing manager re- website design, implementation and
functionality
*Contributed as an added first level technical support testing malfunctioned office equipment in the work space. (PC, Fax,
Printer, Telephony etc.)
