Launch of mba(pm)(ifm)
1. Launch of MBA (PM) & (IFM) Programs by Shri. N. Ravi Shanker, Chief Secretary
Uttarakhand on 8th June 2015
Center for Continuing Education (CCE) at the University of Petroleum & Energy Studies,
Dehradun, India since 2007, offers itself as a center of excellence for accessing quality blended
education through ‘Distance Learning Mode’. Market dynamism makes it imperative to
continuously re-organize and upgrade skill and knowledge sets, tap emerging opportunities and
mitigate lurking threats. With this background, CCE along with the Uttarakhand Power
Corporation Limited and Uttarakhand Power Utilities, Uttarakhand Government and PWD,
Urban Development, Irrigation, Jal Nigam, Jal Sansthan, Paay Jal Nigam and RES, launched two
year MBA programs in Power Management and Infrastructure Management.
The objectives for conducting these program was to equip employees with latest knowledge and
skills in the field of technology and management enabling them to become effective managers, to
create ‘New Generation of Power Professionals’ who have the expertise to handle the present
and future challenges in the Power Sector and to demonstrate organizational commitment for
development of employees.
The Chief Guest on the occasion was Shri. N. Ravi Shanker, Chief Secretary Uttarakhand. Shri.
N. Ravi Shanker highlighted the need for continuing education for working more efficiently and
effectively and appreciated UPES efforts in this direction. Shri. N. Ravi Shanker launched these
programs.
Shri Amit Negi, Secretary, PWD, emphasized the candidates on the importance of knowledge
sharing platform provided by UPES. Other dignitaries present on the occasion were Shri.
S.N.Verma, MD, UJVN Limited, Shri B.C.K. Mishra, Director (Operations), UJVN Limited,
Shri G.K. Verma, Director (Project), UPCL, Shri S.K. Verma, Director (Project), PTCUL, Shri
P.C. Dhyani, Director (HR), PTCUL, Shri B.K. Chaubey, DGM (HR), UPCL, Shri Rajendra
Singh, DGM (HR), UJVNL, Ms. Rama Bahuguna, GM (Industrial Relations), UJVNL.
Out of 111 applications received for MBA(PM), 50 candidates were shortlisted and out of 82
applications for MBA(IFM), 40 candidates were shortlisted after a round of personal interviews
conducted jointly at UPES. The classes of these courses will commence from 13th
June 2015 and
would be conducted on Saturdays and Sundays.
The occasion was graced by Dr. S.J.Chopra, Chancellor, UPES along with Shri Arun Dhand,
Director (Govt. Relations), UPES, Wing Commander P.K. Gupta, Senior Associate Director &
Head, CCE, UPES, Dr. Raju Ganesh Sunder, Professor & Head CCE(AU), UPES and the
Academic Unit Team, CCE, UPES.
