This document summarizes what was learned about technologies from constructing a GoPro product video.
Key technologies discussed include various GoPro mounts that allowed getting shots from different angles like handlebars, helmets, and connecting mounts. The GoPro app was also important as it let the filmmakers view footage on their phone and control the camera remotely.
Final Cut Pro was used for editing and offered useful features like organizing footage into folders, previewing clip durations, adding effects like slow motion, and editing sound and titles on the timeline. Overall the document discusses the different technologies involved in planning, filming, and editing a GoPro project video.
1. Q6: What have you
learnt about technologies
from the process of
constructing this
product?
By Tobias Orchard
2. GoPro
This bag was useful as
it allowed us to store all
the GoPro kit in one
place whilst cycling.
This GoPro
Helmet
mount will
help us with
our POV
shots.
Vibration
dampener.
These waterproof case
allowed use to go done
muddy and wet tracks, as
it would protect the GoPro
from all of this.
GoPro handle bar
mount. This
allowed use to
get some great
shot of the biker.
Rubber
bushing for
smaller
bars.
Other
connecting
mount, which
allowed us to
get all the
shots we
wanted e.g.
shot of gears.
GoPro Hero 3
White Edition set
to 720p at
1030fps.
3. These are the two buttons that we need to use to navigate
around all the menus on the GoPro.
This it the
SD Card we
used to store
all our
filming on, it
is 64GB.
As seen on the previous slide this is the Vibration
Dampener. This will make sure that it absorbs as
much vibration as possible as the biker ride to
make sure that the camera does not move.
4. GoPro App
On the GoPro that we where using their was no
screen that we could use to see what the
GoPro was Shooting (ViewFinder) so we
deiced to work around this problem by using
the GoPro Wi-Fi to our phone and used the
GoPro app which would relay the picture it was
shooting and then we could adjust the shoot if it
was wrong accordingly.
Also by using this feature it allowed use to see
the camera status so the battery life for
example. It also gave use the control to start
and stop the film through the app without touch
the GoPro, this gave use the freedom to go on
long trails and stop the footage when
appropriate on the trail rather then waiting to
the end and then stopping it manually and be
left with a larger amount of unwanted footage,
taking up storage space.
5. Online Software/ Resources
Pearl and Dean/IMDb:
This was one of the most essential websites of all as it help
us by offering data on all genres and film split by Age,
Gender and Class. This help us find out what type of
audience we where aiming at with are Thriller, Adventure and
Drama genres. We also used IMDb to help us to find popular
film under those genre so tat we could use some of their
techniques in are film to hook our audience.
Youtube:
Youtube was a big inspiration of ours as it allowed us to
search through lots of biking videos so we could pick things
out. It was also the resource that allowed are film opener ‘at
the end of the trail’ to be seen by everyone, also allowed our
video to be embed into my blogger. Also help us answer
Evaluation Question 5.
6. Online Software/ Resources
Sound Cloud:
We used Sound Cloud to find our no-copy right music for our
opener. Sound Cloud is know to get popular music and remix
to which means that it is not copy righted.
Slide Share:
I used Slide Share to make my Slideshow look neat and
professional. Slide Share was helpful as it help me with my
treatment and some of my Evaluation Question.
Blogger:
Prior to starting my coursework I wanted a place I could store
all my coursework in one place that is where Blogger comes
in. Blogger was helpful as it allowed me to embed videos
from Youtube to my Blogger. It also makes it easier for the
examiner to mark my work as everything is in one place.
7. Final Cut Pro
The first thing we did was to
make sure we created folder for
each part of the project to make
sure when import nothing got
mixed up e.g. GoPro, Hand Held
Camera.
This was a
very helpful
part of Final
Cut Pro as it
let us flip
some of are
shot, we did
this to make
sure that the
180 rules
was not
broken.
In this section it allowed us to
see the duration of the shot
we where looking at before
putting it into the timeline to
make sure you have the right
clip.
This is where we
have added a effect
e.g. Slow-Mo or an
effect to the colour of
the picture.
The timeline is
where the magic
happened. All of the
editing was done in
this panel.
This is the sound that will be Inc into the film.
We through it would be easier to have the
sound under the film, so that we could edit it
and match the film.
This part of
the toolbar
allowed us
to use Trim,
blade and
many
more.
In this tool bar it allowed us to pick
different editing options such as
Transitions. It also gave us the
opportunity to cross the T and dot the I.
The most important edit this tool bar
offered was the Titles.
